... *Elephant horn goes off* Spartan: ... "That was the Elephant, not me."

Does this mean the assault rifle will have as horrible accuracy as it did in Halo CE?

As someone who has written a 200+ page book (unpublished) and am currently working on a tabletop RPG, yeah, I do. -
I think the daily challenges should be called 'daily treats'. Because the idea behind a treat is that you know you're going to get a cookie if you do what you're told... so why not, right? Challenges are supposed to challenge you and you feel satisfied with completing them, often awarded with a Gamer score on Xbox Live (and your gamer score doesn't buy anything, so yeah).

First time reading this post and... Elite Honer Guard? Honer? Honer... http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/honer I think you guys mean "Honor". http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/honor I could be wrong, though. Depending on what you guys mean with the word 'honer'. -
"Oh my God! They're remaking a game that's already been made! It's going to be a waste of money and nobody should buy it because nobody will enjoy it!" ... 1999: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aliens_versus_Predator_%28video_game%29 2010: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aliens_vs._Predator_%28video_game%29 Shall I find more examples? 1997: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GoldenEye_007_%281997_video_game%29 2010: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GoldenEye_007_%282010_video_game%29

I've often considered how the armor abilities wouldn't make sense lore-wise for the game... but here's what I ultimately concluded: As the gaming community gets more and more advanced, new concepts are going to be tried. While Reach may have been a game based on what happened prior to the first Halo game... they didn't have the graphics engine and abilities that they have now with Halo CE... so of course new things are going to be tried out despite how it might go along with the story.

Personal opinion: If 343i decided to make a custom armor effect / armor piece like what with Bungie did with Halo 3 and Recon... it should be a helmet that looks like the Monitor.

I think it's funny how last week's weekly challenge was to complete... what was it? 50 Matchmaking games or something? For 7777 credits, and this week's weekly challenge is to complete 150 rounds of Firefight for 12,000 credits. Who made up the values for these challenges, I wonder.

If you want old school, they may as well implement a game where all we do is throw rocks at each other. In any case, maybe there ought to be a revise on the current play lists? I mean... there's already the playlist where people can play classic Halo style games without armor abilities... so what if they made something like that for games like Team Slayer or Team Objective? Would that make things better? Swat, for example, doesn't have armor abilities to my knowledge... other than maybe sprint. I don't play it that much to really know off the top of my head, but I know there are games that absolutely count out armor abilities. So why complain about armor abilities when you can play the game types that are, you know, built to not have them? Seriously.

This... or fighting against them. Much like in Halo 3, if someone is running towards you with a shotgun, isn't it usually a good idea to start running backwards instead of straight towards them? So why do people think that there isn't some kind of strategy regarding killing people using armor effects? People that armor lock, for example, are immobile... so back up a bit so that when they get out of armor lock, you can just pop them in the head. For Hologram... shoot the hologram once, if it doesn't bleed, go for the player instead. For Jet Pack... back up and shoot up. Don't run forward to a point where you can't see him. OR just get to some cover so he can't see you. For sprint... use a shotgun or something that can hurt him as he runs towards you. For Evade... learn to aim better. For bubble shield... run inside and throw a sticky grenade. For cloak... get out of the area and wait for them to decloak and/or wait for their cloak to run out. Really, people complain about armor abilities because things are overpowered... why not just develop strategies around them? Laziness at it's finest, I suppose. People can't be arsed to learn a new strategy, so they demand that the 'problem' be removed entirely.

It's because of one thing: People that create things for people... just aren't capable of pleasing everyone. People are always going to complain about things they don't like in a game, or even something like food or a movie or something. Because everyone has different interests and ideas of how things should be run... and if things aren't done in the way they prefer, the whining begins. People by nature are power hungry and greedy... so when something doesn't go our way, of course we're going to be upset and try to complain to someone about it. So in this case... the best I can say is: Just make posts where you give constructive criticism for 343's projects and such. Don't just complain and then not offer any feedback as to why something 'sucks'... then they just stop wanting to listen to people. That said, it might be a good idea for 343 to create some forum rules related to suggesting ideas or complaining in general.

I think that sounds a little complex. I like the idea of being rewarded certain armor add-ons based on the weapons you use, though. So people that are snipers will get sniper armor and people that use heavy weapons would get big, bulky armor. That way when you get into a game, you can actually see an ally that has the sniper armor and be like "Oh, okay he can have the sniper" instead of everyone rushing for the sniper and betrayals taking place.
-
They would still get stronger weapons with higher rank... but if an Elite with, say, a plasma rifle has his entire team wiped out and his leader used a sword, don't you think he'd go grab the sword if it raised his survival chances? Also, Elites are intelligent. Haven't you played Halo 3 and listened to them talk? Grunts are the ones that are dopey, and I wouldn't be surprised if they decided to not drop their plasma pistols... but still, I think AI (Elites, Brutes, etc.) should have the ability to change their weapons. Now granted, I don't know what the main enemies will be in Halo 4... but if they're intelligent, they should have this feature.

Just something that popped into my head while I was playing Firefight today. I don't know if you guys have ever really noticed this, or care to notice... but I think it might be nice to see AI in Halo 4 that actually pick up new, better weapons. Like if you're facing off with an Elite that's holding a plasma pistol, then you run into a room filled with shotguns... don't you kind of expect the Elite to grab a shotgun? Instead he just keeps his plasma pistol and you kill him easily by picking up a shotgun for yourself. So I just thought that it might be nice to see AI that pick up better weapons in the battlefield if they find one available to them. Edit: And yeah, you could argue that the Elites wouldn't be allowed to use, say, a sword because of their rank... but if you hand a Marine (who is generally Private - Sergeant in rank) a rocket launcher, nobody complains right?

If you recall, when Halo originally came out, Bungie said "We wanted to do so much more with Halo and Halo 2, but due to the engine restrictions we just couldn't make it as big a game as we had hoped. With Halo 3, we can do that. Those ships you see off in the distance are real" and such like that. So if anything... them remastering Halo CE is them making Halo the game they wanted it to be so long ago.

I prefer not to use a mic in-game with random people... because then I don't have to listen to their drama in the game. Or people playing music over their mic, or people just generally being idiots. That said, a new thing that makes me rage (but not quit): When you're playing co-op campaign and you play ONI Sword Base (the one where you get the target locator) and your allies spend 30 minutes trying to drive a vehicle into the elevator. I just literally finished dealing with that, and after a while, I just finally walked into the elevator and started it up so we could get on with the game. Granted it wasn't a half hour, but I was getting incredibly bored just standing around while they tried to shove a warthog / forklift into the elevator.

This is helpful sometimes when I'm running low on ammo, because betrayals don't make you infected.

I'm not a fan of Gears of War due to the third-person shooter aspect of it. That said, care to explain to people that don't play it what the Gears of War customization is?

Then use the score tables against them. If they are moving and jumping around, good for them... but let's say that the entire team, sans the idle guy, gets up to 200 score within the first few minutes. If the Idle Guy is about to get booted and starts jumping around to avoid it, the system would realize he has 0 score (or 50 or something not on-par with the rest of the team) and eject him. OR the players would get the option to eject him, so that if it's a bunch of people that know he's dealing with something in RL at the same time (computer virus scans or something), they can choose whether or not to keep him around. So in this case, the system would read that he's been idle for a certain amount of time, read the total score the rest of the team has, then check the idle guy's score and put two and two together. Plus... we all know that on your gamer profile on bungie.net, it shows places where you've killed things. If the server can create maps for stuff like that, then it can read that 3 of the players (on co-op campaign for example) are off killing Brutes in one area while the idle guy is standing at a great distance and shooting maybe once or twice, then standing still. ... Ultimately, I'm just trying to suggest a way to better manage idle people. We know that idle credit farming can get you into big trouble (IE: Being naughty), but it would be nice if the players could start helping with catching them as opposed to waiting for 343 (or Bungie) to check their stats. Maybe make another option in the game where instead of just checking Service Record, Gamer Profile, etc., you have the option to report them for idling throughout the game. Then if 343 gets enough reports, they can check the records and be like "Yep, he's in trouble now".
-
This is a thought I had just now, but has irritated me for a while. I'm sure we all get into those games where people will Idle just to get credits. They can literally just stand around and let the other players do the work while they get rewarded for it. It's a cheap way to harvest credits and highly frowned upon by the active players. So what I suggest is... Idle Booting. Basically how it would work is... if someone is standing around doing nothing for, say, 2 - 3 minutes, they get automatically ejected from the game. I was originally going to suggest having a pop-up screen similar to the betrayal booting option... but if a player is facing off with an elite and that screen shows up, it could be catastrophic. But it would be nice if there was a system that would stop players from being able to stand around the entire game while you do all the work.
-
The big problem with the credit system right now is exactly what you said, Biggles. People know they'll get something whether they win or lose. I haven't seen people idle so much in Halo since PC (when people forget the game is running or something). People are literally able to stand around in a game and get credits for it. It's cheap as hell. Hmm...

It's really hard to make me rage quit from a game. In Halo Reach, I don't like to quit games because then I risk losing the 3000 credit jackpots I get if I stay in games... so raging is something that really, REALLY needs to make me rage enough to quit. But there are two big things that will make me rage quit: 1) If I'm playing campaign co-op and one of my team mates targets me because I did something he or she did not like. 2) If I'm playing a team-based matchmaking game and my entire team quits, then while being the only person on my team, the other team will tea-bag me, trash talk, and generally talk crap about me sucking when it's 4 versus 1. I can deal with an entire team leaving, but when the other team just behaves like total jerks, it can become stressful. These two reasons are the reason I usually keep my voice muted. (IE: I can't hear them and I don't need to talk - I can just enjoy the game).

No no no... Peter Cushing vs. Chuck Norris.
