Frank (or someone at 343i) said that there'd be a reason as to why red spartans are fighting blue spartans, so I guess that they are actually giving some story (however small or light) to the multiplayer. It's not a bad thing. You can simply ignore it and take it with a grain of salt if you dislike it. Personally I'm indifferent. If they do add some light backstory as to why the two teams are fighting, I think it's kinda neat. If it's nothing special, it's not something I'll get worked up about. If it's something entertaining, well I guess that's just another plus to the overall experience.

I've seen this, and I've seen it in an even larger view. It looks nothing like a jetpack. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FUa9n3nHMgg&feature=relmfu Skip to 2:20 and pause around 2:21 or 2:22. It does not resemble anything like a jetpack. Disregard the rest of the video. I linked it purely to provide a closer look at the area of the screen that you're talking about.
-
I never noticed a jetpack symbol. Would you care to tell me the exact time in the video, or give me a screenshot of said symbol? Also, we've only see one feature displayed in the VidDoc, sprinting. That's it. No jetpacks, no invisibility, no armour lock, nothing like that. Highest skill isn't what makes Halo Halo. The characters, setting, universe, weapons, and core gameplay/features are what make Halo Halo. Not the ranking system.

Please don't ruin Halo 4 matchmaking like Bungie did with Reach...
CandiBunni replied to Mezz's topic in Halo 4
Excuse me? Adding more options and possibilities minimizes skill? That's absolutely wrong. The more options there are, the more mechanics and possibilities there are, the more skill that is required. The simpler a game is, the less skill it requires compared to something that requires the user to learn and effectively use multiple (if not more advanced) mechanics. Take a game like DOOM. It's about as simple as you can get. Are you going to tell me it requires more skill than something like Battlefield 3? By your logic, that something requires less skill and relies more on luck the more advanced it gets, you're saying just that. You know what true skill is? True skill is being able to effectively use every mechanic of the game to outplay and dominate your opponent. It's being able to use the features a game gives you to perform better than someone else. That's true skill. True skill is not taking out multiple features that the game provides and limiting yourself to just a handful. It takes far more skill to effectively use everything in something like Reach than it is to simply limit yourself to a DMR, sprint, and perhaps one grenade. -
You say that zero bloom takes more skill. Alright, answer me this. How is it that simply aiming at someone and firing as fast as you want, with little to no spread in your shots, more skill demanding than having to aim at someone and properly time your shots to maintain accuracy and ensure a quick and clean kill? The answer, in my eyes, is that it doesn't. Without bloom it simply becomes point and shoot. You have no consequences for firing as fast as you want, no reason to time shots, no reason to worry about maintaining accuracy other than having the crosshairs on the person's body. With bloom, however, you not only have to keep your crosshairs on said person, but also time your shots so that each shot hits the target where you wish it to. If you fire too quickly, you get more shots out at a faster rate, but you lose a considerable amount of accuracy. However if you pace your shots properly, you get less shots out than someone who spams, but each shot is going to land right where your reticule is aiming.

The problem with your video is that the audio of the video itself overpowers your voice. I'd recommend muting the video in the background, or at least lowering its volume considerably. I am having a very hard time hearing what you're saying over the audio of the VidDoc.

We already know that Halo 4 isn't going to be the final Halo game. They announced the start of a new trilogy, which means there will be a Halo 4, Halo 5, and a Halo 6 at least.
-
What exactly do you mean by a Halo: Reach look? That it had a more serious, realistic design? That's the only thing I can think of. I liked how Reach went for a more serious look than previous games, and Halo 4 looks to be taking that a step further. I personally don't want it to feel too much like previous games. I want it to feel like it's own game, while still keeping some elements of what make Halo fun. Reach didn't have any serious or many gameplay improving changes. I love the game, but it just felt like more of the same.
-
They're not going to make it like Call of Duty. People need to stop thinking that they're going to remove what people enjoy about Halo and turn it into something completely unrecognizable. People also need to realise that Halo is in serious need of change. Not everyone is going to want to play the same, simple game over and over for the rest of the series. 343i believes they're doing right with what changes they're making, and we need to show them some respect for taking on the task of continuing the Halo series. We need to stop living in the past and accept change. We need to move on.
-
I personally enjoy his new armour more so than his armour from Halo 2 and Halo 3. I would think that, after Halo 3 and Halo: Reach, they would include plenty of customization for our Spartan characters. Shoulders, chests, helmets, knees, visors, etc. I don't see why we wouldn't have customization as good as, if not better than that offered in Reach.
-
Halo: CEA was something that fans have wanted for a long time. Fans have wanted a remake of the original Halo, and 343i gave it to us. Forge World is bigger, but it's also rather plain. If you want all of the maps from CE, too bad. If they had every single one, the price of Halo: CEA would have been even larger than what it is now. Not to mention the hard drive space all of those maps would take up. 343i doesn't suck. You're just mad that you didn't get everything and exactly that you wanted. There's a difference. Halo: CEA was a labor of love, there's no doubt about it. You're just too spoiled to accept what you've been given without demanding more, more, more, more.

Strong evidence of armour abilities? Someone sprinting? Did you see any icon on their hud for the sprinting ability? Nope. That video does not provide any evidence of armour abilities. That device on his back could simply be the sprint feature, or couls simply be a part of his armour. We don't know yet, so it's best if you and others didn't go around spouting off about what none of us have any real clue about. Besides, even if they are in the game, it doesn't mean they'll function exactly like in Halo: Reach.

CandiBunni replied to Pink Lemonade's topic in Halo 4
I wasn't talking off of spawn. I meant that it's boring to use just one or two weapons for every single match in the game. I did not mean that I would prefer having different weapons selectable off of spawn, but that not choosing to pick up or use different weapons, to me, is boring. Just thought I'd clear that up. -
So...sprinting means it's going to play a lot like Reach? That makes no sense. You saw, at most, two minutes of different clips of gameplay. That's hardly enough to base an opinion on. In your humble opinion this game won't be good? You've got nothing to base that opinion on but a few small clips of some unfinished gameplay and a few, simple, unexplained statements made by Frank and the team.(And maybe some made by the media, but I don't take what they say to heart all that much.) Do the smart thing, and wait until you play the game to judge it.
-
Just because the graphics may slightly resemble Reach doesn't mean everything or even a lot of what was in Reach is going to be in Halo 4. A good chance other AAs are in there because sprint is? Sprinting is something that a lot of FPSs have and have had for quite some time. Even before Halo there was sprinting in FPSs. One feature that as in one game being in another does not mean that others are likely to be included as well.
-
Some of Reach's "stupid gimmicks"? Just because you saw sprinting? I personally don't see the big deal with sprinting. "It allows players to run away from a fight!" Well would you want to stay out in danger, knowing you're likely to die, or get to cover so that you're not staring at the respawn counter? You tell me. You do know that you can sprint after them, right? Just because someone sprints away doesn't mean you're incapable of shooting them or chasing after them. Someone sprints away. Boo hoo, now you have to go after them and finish them off. Sprinting also allows you to get around the map quicker and get closer to the action, it's not just something that may or may not negatively impact the game.

Playing with one single weapon every game, every match, etc. is BORING. I want variety in my playstyle. I don't want to play every single game using the same exact weapon again and again. How you don't find that boring, I'll never know. I, on the other hand, find it dull and uninteresting. Pardon me for wanting to use other weapons in the sandbox. I guess I just don't know how to enjoy the game to its fullest. Just because my opinion on that differs from yours doesn't mean I don't understand the point of playing Halo. You know what the point of playing Halo, a video game, is? It's to have fun. That's the point. -
Slower paced gameplay =/= A bad thing. Just because a game may have slower paced gameplay does not mean its gameplay isn't good or great.

Welcome, one and all, to the "Member Appreciation Game"! This is a simple game that I hope everyone here will enjoy participating in. The Purpose To allow users to show why and what they appreciate about their fellow members. To quell any doubts that users may or may not have about themselves. To be a fun, simple little game. The Rules The rules for the "M.A.G" are simple. Depending on who immediately posted before you, you will post their name and then list the reasons why you appreciate them. If you can not think of any reasons for why you appreciate someone, or have nothing but negatives to say, please do not post. This is an appreciation game, not a depreciation game. Do not post for a user more than one time. If you've posted for one user, please let someone else post their reasons for that person, rather than you post your reasons for a second time. We can read, we don't need you to remind us. =P Do not post reasons for someone that are completely silly, random, and not actually so. This thread should be filled with honest, genuine reasons for why you like your fellow member. Not random, goofy comments made just to get someone to post about you or to make people giggle. Please only post reasons for the person directly above you. Like I've said before, don't post if you can't think of anything honest and genuine, or have nothing but negativity to spout. The Format Below is the format that I wish for all who participate to use. Please. Use. It. "User A" Reason 1 Reason 2 Reason 3 etc. Please note that there is no minimum or maximum amount of reasons that one must give. Well no, I shouldn't say that. The minimum amount of reasons to give is 1. I know that, due to the rules I've given, this thread may not see as much activity as others, but that's a small price to pay to keep it full of honest, heart felt responses. Let the game begin!

They didn't go to join another company. Activision gets to publish their games that they release. That's it. They're not a part of Activision, they're still an independent company. They were under a lot of control over at Microsoft, and that's not the same situation as it is now with Activision publishing their titles.
-
They didn't sell out. From what I heard, their contract with Microsoft ended and they chose not to renew it. Microsoft owned Halo since Halo: Combat Evolved. Bungie was close to becoming bankrupt and so they sold the rights to Halo to Microsoft so that they could stay afloat. They didn't go to make games for Activision. Activision simply gets to produce the games that Bungie releases. Bungie will still own any original IPs that they create.

Bloom has been in every single Halo title, just to let you know. The versions used in past games aren't the exact same as the version used in Reach, but every Halo FPS has used some form of bloom. Bungie never cared about us? Is that why they held community play dates, allowed us to play in betas for Halo 3 and Reach, updated Halo 2 and 3 with title and playlist updates based on what we wanted and/or asked for, held forge contests in Reach and added user made maps to matchmaking? All of that, and they never cared about us? Ha. Sure, buddy. No. They made Reach what they wanted. Whether they actually made it to compete with Call of Duty, we do not actually know. They made the game that they wanted, and they released it. It's as simple as that. Bungie has forums too, you know. Ever heard of Bungie.net? Sure it's devolved into a horrible, horrible place now, but I'm sure it was once a nice place to go. Bungie are not sellouts. Is making a game the way that they wanted selling out? Is doing all that I've listed above selling out? Is leaving Microsoft to become independent again selling out? The answer to all of those questions is a big, fat NO.

I'm a tool? I don't deserve Halo? Why is that, hm? I never said anything about the PC, if you'd read my post thoroughly. The PC is the superior gaming platform, but I honestly prefer playing on consoles. You really don't have to upgrade that often if you get decent hardware. You can wait around maybe 3 to 5 years before really needing to upgrade, if that. I haven't forgotten anything. I know that gaming is about the gameplay, not the look. Gameplay matters more to me than graphics, though a game should have a decent presentation, even if the gameplay is fantastic. Using something like "***" to insult someone? What are you, a child? Halo did have bloom before Halo: Reach. It didn't use the same exact version that Reach uses, but it did in fact use bloom. Halo 1 and 2 didn't have instant hits, aka hitscan. In Halo 1 you had to lead your shots, and in Halo 2 and 3 there are actual projectiles that are released. They do not use hitscan. EDIT: It was made unclear by their post if they were agreeing with my post or directing their post towards me in disagreement. If they were agreeing with me, I apologise, but they should make that more clear in future posts. Thankee! <3 -

CandiBunni replied to Pink Lemonade's topic in Halo 4
Real Halo doesn't have bloom? Every Halo title has had bloom. Armour abilities? Remember the jetpack elites in Halo 2? Tatarus using an invincibility ability? The Arbiter's active camo ability? Ring any bells? The armour abilities in Reach are pretty much based off of those things. Don't try to define what "real" Halo is. It makes you come off as rather silly. Everyone has their own definition of what Halo is about. There is no definitive definition, so don't try to claim that there is and that what you believe is fact. It's opinion. Halo does not need to keep the exact same style of gameplay as Halo 2 and Halo 3. Why? Because in doing this, people are more likely do leave due to the series not progressing. Due to the series remaining the same and becoming stagnant. There's not a thing wrong with sprinting. FPSs have had sprinting in them for quite a long time. Remember games like DOOM and Marathon? You could hold down a key to run faster. That's pretty much sprinting, though you could use it as much as you wanted. Making things complicated does not mean that the "luck factor" as you call it goes up. Making a game more complicated means demanding more types and amounts of skill from the players. It requires them to learn more mechanics. How does sprinting make the spawns worse? Care to give some examples as to why it does so? No one has said anything about having iron sights in Halo, and Reach doesn't include them either. I don't know about you, but I really don't like the Battle Rifle. I would rather use things like the Assault Rifle, SMG, and other weapons in the Halo sandbox. Sticking to just one particular weapon, to me, is rather boring. People only complained about it because they were stupid noobs? Great job grouping a whole bunch of people into one negative group because you disagree with them. That's really going to help your argument and make people take you seriously. /sarcasm. I don't know what you're talking about, but Halo 2 was not polished. It was unfinished, had a multitude of glitches in both single and multi player, and was a tad unbalanced. Halo 3 on the other hand was far more polished than Halo 2, but the single player experience of both titles was rather mediocre in my eyes. Excuse me? The PS3 is outdated? The Xbox 360 came out before the Playstation 3, so if the PS3 is outdated, so is the Xbox 360. Think before you speak. The PS3 is for casual gamers, kids, idiots, and poor people? You really are quite silly aren't you? Who in the hell do you think you are insulting millions of people for preferring a console you don't like over one you do? What makes them idiots? The fact that they enjoy the titles available for the PS3? What makes them poor? The fact that they're able to afford a video game console that costs a few hundred dollars? How do you know it's meant for little kids and casual gamers? Have you no idea that there are countless T and M rated titles available for the Playstation 3, just as there are for the Xbox 360? Apparently you don't. I'm not even going to bother with the rest of your post. You're a rude and rather silly individual who loves spewing all kinds of hate towards those who like consoles and video games that you dislike. Why don't you do us all a favour and show some respect, tolerance, and learn to grow up. No one is going to take you seriously if you post garbage like this. Certainly not me. PS. There's not a damn thing wrong with liking Call of Duty. Learn to accept that some people prefer certain games to others.
