No, I'm not insulting the birth of this website because this website was created as a fan/community website for 343 Industries and fans of Halo. It wasn't made just for Halo 2. No, I'm not insulting the birth of competitiveness because that existed well before Halo 2 was released. No, I'm not insulting the reason I'm here. I'm not here for Halo 2 and I never was. I joined this website and am still a part of it because I like being a part of this community and enjoy Halo. Halo 2, in my opinion, is the worst in the franchise. It's riddled with bugs, glitches, and a general lack of polish. Those things really have an impact on my enjoyment with the game. There are also, in my opinion, a lot of science fiction games that have much better stories and music. Half - Life 1, 2, and its episodes, Mass Effect 1, 2, and even 3, Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 3: ODST, etc. All of these games offer a better story/experience, music, and gameplay than Halo 2. Like I've said before, this is my opinion. You're free to disagree with it, but please don't try to claim I'm insulting anything or anyone.

Jesters 1 Year Birthday - My Thoughts
CandiBunni replied to Spectral Jester's topic in General Discussion
Congratulations on your first full year as a member of the website~! I'm approaching mine soon as well. Thankee for putting in so much time to help keep the forums a nice, organised place. Also thank you (and every moderator) for putting up with all of my reports! XD I do it because I want to help, and it's really nice that you all actually take the time to look into that sort of thing. Keep on keeping on, stay safe, and here's to another year~! -
There will not be a public Halo 4 beta. This is old news and you can find interviews and quotes made discussing this if you search Youtube and Google for interviews with Frank O' Connor and other 343 Industries employees. Frank O' Connor said a beta wasn't in their plans and pretty much that it would be a distraction from what they're currently doing (which is tweaking and polishing the game as much as they can before they have to stop development).
-
Well who knows. Maybe he will still be able to receive each episode and play it with people on the same console, just not over Xbox Live. They haven't really confirmed or denied that, so as far as I'm concerned it's still a possibility.
-
Firefight will not be returning in Halo 4, they've already said this in an interview. Spartan Ops will be the co-operative multiplayer experience, though they've said you should like Spartan Ops if you like Firefight. They've also said that Elites will not be playable in multiplayer, so I take that as not playable in War Games, Custom Games, or even Forge. It wouldn't make very much sense to allow players to play as them seeing as how the multiplayer experience has some legitimate fiction wrapped around it. You are a Spartan IV training aboard the UNSC Infinity. The training area is able to change its appearance to allow the Spartans to practise on a multitude of battle grounds. Dual-wielding will not be a feature in Halo 4 because adding it into the game would cause things to become far too hectic and would be very difficult to balance properly. Rather than try doing so they opted to just not include it, which makes every weapon a useful one and means they can spend more time focusing on tweaking those.

I thought the campaign was pretty nice. It isn't as great as the campaigns of Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo Wars, or Halo 3: ODST (in that order), but it's certainly not bad in my opinion. I know there are some contradictions and inconsistencies with dates, events, etc. but I enjoyed it regardless. Armour Lock was never really that big of a deal. If you and another player are in a gunfight and they go into armour lock once you pop their shields, all you really have to do is wait for them to release the lock and toss a grenade or two in their area. Make sure that you've reloaded your gun, keep a good distance between you and them, and ready your grenades and you shouldn't have much of a problem with armour lock. Hologram is kind of a missed opportunity. There are some neat things they could have done to it to make it much more useful. If the opponent's name popped up (or the name of someone on the enemy team) popped up when you aimed at them, they fired shots as well (blanks that did no damage), or if they mimicked your actions depending on if you meleed, crouched, or jumped, it would have been a lot better in my eyes. I'll agree that I never really connected with any of the characters. Despite their deaths, I never felt any lose or any sadness when the ultimately met their demise. If Bungie had bothered developing them, creating some compelling personalities, I'm sure I'd have cared whether they lived or died. That being said, I've never really cared too much about many (if any) of the characters in a Bungie made Halo game. Ensemble Studios did a much better job giving the characters in Halo Wars some personality, making them believable and interesting.

My gamerscore is 21,772. I'm so close to 22,000. O:

Ensemble Studios were the ones who developed Halo Wars, not 343 Industries. I will agree though that Halo Wars is a fantastic Halo experience, and I personally think it has one of the best (if not the best) campaigns out of any Halo title so far.

Therein lies the problem that I've always had with Brutes. They are far too simple and easy of an enemy to kill and have little in the way of combat intelligence. More often than not they resort to simply firing their weapon, tossing a grenade, and on occasion moving left or right to dodge. Elites are far more fun because they present you with a challenge. Elites will sidestep, backpedal, dodge-roll, toss grenades at you when you're in weakened, in cover, or reloading. Brutes don't really do much of that I find. Brutes have always simply been bullet sponges and the least fun enemy to fight in the entire series since their introduction. While a little more fun in Halo: Reach for some reason, I'd still much rather fight Elites. When they introduced them in Halo: Reach and pretty much nearly removed Elites, that was a pretty bad decision in my eyes. In some developer commentary they said they had planned for the Brutes to only be in one or two missions of the campaign. I wish they had stuck with that. I've heard that in the fiction of the Halo Universe that the Brutes are supposed to be these massive, fear inspiring, deadly opponents that are capable of tearing you to pieces like no ones business. It's such a shame that they have never really been anything like that in the games.

I believe that the universe is so massive that the thought of us being the only intelligent life out there is very silly. We may not have found much in the planets nearby, but I'm sure that there is at least one planet or two out there that is home to life just as intricate and intelligent as what we find on our own planet (ourselves included).

Why are you leaving though? I and others would like to know why you've decided to leave the website. Has something personal in life come up, has someone said or done something on the website that has bothered you, or what? Please let us know why.

I've bolded what I am responding to. Armour abilities and the DMR were both in Halo: Reach, a game developed by Bungie. This is before 343 Industries came along. Recoil has also been in past Halo games as well. Halo 2, Halo 3, and Halo 3: ODST all featured recoil when firing certain weapons like the SMG. I see Halo 4 as an improvement to Halo 2 and Halo 3 because it seems to be changing up the simple and repetitive gameplay of those games by adding armour abilities, allowing us to customise our Spartan and loadout to suit our particular playstyle, and providing us with new and (to me) exciting ways to play the game. If what 343 Industries is implementing turns out to be well balanced then I won't have any issue with the changes they have decided to make. All that I have seen so far looks very fun and the gameplay is looking as fast as ever. I will admit that I'm skeptical about some things such as ordanance, support upgrades, and tactical packages, but so long as they're balanced then I don't mind them.
-
Yes. Halo 4 will include local splitscreen co-op and multiplayer for up to four people per console. I'm not sure if the campaign will allow four player offline, but it should allow at least two. Custom games will still allow four players on one television as you've come to expect.

I honestly don't care too much about just how the blood decals look. Halo: Reach's blood decals are better than the ones in Halo 3 in my opinion, so I don't mind if they're taking those and placing them into Halo 4. Blood decals are such a small thing to me that, whatever design they choose, I really won't care all that much.

I'm very impressed with what I've seen in these videos so far. Nothing seems too overpowered and they're letting us know that they are still tweaking things. I'm still on the fence about armour mods like the speed boost, overshield, etc. and I hope that they'll give us the option to choose between Slayer with and without ordanance drops in matchmaking. Something I don't care for is the ability to change what your loadouts contain while in the game. I would much rather give players six total loadout slots that they can edit in the menus. This way they can create two loadouts for close range, two for medium, and two for long. If they fail to create a good loadout going into a match, I think the should be punished for it by having to use it and wait until the game ends to fix it. Matchmaking will hopefully have the loadout editing feature disabled because I could really see how people constantly changing their loadouts could cause the game to become too hectic and random.

Spartan. I don't enjoy playing as Elites. Would you rather go in close quarters with an Assault Rifle or a Battle Rifle?

The grenade indicator was a weird decision, but it's not something that actually bothers me all that much. I would prefer it to not be in the game, but I don't mind that much if it is. Sprinting to me is something that Halo has needed ever since Halo 3. I am absolutely tired of being limited to one set movement speed and having no way to move any faster apart from vehicles. Allowing everyone to sprint at all times allows them to get to their team mates faster, get into a fight quicker, and move across the map (especially larger maps) faster as well. I see it as something that provides a lot more good than bad. This is another weird decision that they've made. Honestly I don't really care too much for this. I found it silly in CoD that you weren't allowed to pick up grenades, and I honestly don't care for the decision to limit the ability to do so to an upgrade or specialisation (not sure which it is). This is absolutely false. Weapons will, in fact, still be placed around the map as you would expect from a Halo game. I do believe they said this in an interview. The only difference is now you will be able to call in ordinance drops in certain gametypes when you get enough kills. I don't mind this so long as it's balanced. These abilities we are seeing are similar to perks, but are still not exactly like them. In Call of Duty you are given the option to equip three perks at once. In Halo 4 you will only be allowed to choose one armour ability, one tactical package, and one upgrade. I know what you're saying "How's that different from Call of Duty's three perk limit?". Well to me the biggest difference is that the perks in Call of Duty aren't balanced properly. There don't seem to be any negative effects of having a certain perk equipped other than not being able to have another. In Halo 4 I'm sure they'll attempt to balance these things out by adding a trade off of some kind. For example, the increased damage upgrade/modifier will give you a red glow/haze around your player character, letting others know of what you've equipped. We still don't know exactly how everything is going to work, so I'm still going to hold my final thoughts for when I play the game. I do believe I heard that your shields recharge faster and that your movement speed is more akin to Halo 3 than Halo: Reach. Not to mention that you'll always be able to sprint at any time. With these things in mind, coupled with the fact that someone might choose to spectate their team mates or change a loadout doesn't make this seem so bad. It's not like it instantly respawns you unless you choose to change loadouts. I specifically remember seeing a countdown timer when someone died in a released multiplayer video. For game modes such as CTF, there will be no instant respawning, so it might just be a Slayer-based gametype feature. I actually like the point based system. If someone isn't getting any kills, but they're assisting their team mates by doing other things, why shouldn't that count for something? If I am travelling with a teammate and watching his back, putting in shots for him to finish them off or something like that, don't I deserve to be rewarded for my effort? I'd like to think so. Each kill is worth 10 points, so if the point cap for a match is 500 points, that's pretty much the 50 kill score system with points also rewarded to players who help out in other ways. If 343 Industries can really balance all of these things well so that there isn't anything like a "God loadout" or any that become something everyone uses, then I'm fine with the changes. So long as everything is balanced well and doesn't hold the players hand all that much, I'm fine. So far it doesn't seem to be holding our hands, but we won't know if it's balanced until we play it for ourselves.
-
I wouldn't mind this so much considering he said that your aim will be thrown off while getting shot and in scope. To me that still a fair trade off. You still get to aim at your opponent, but if you take a hit you're still going to have to readjust your aim.
-
Well that's not the case. Like I said, we saw a video where they kept the same armour on their body while they were switching helmets. This leads me to believe that we will be able to customise our shoulder, chest, knees, helmet, etc. I'm not sure about skins, but I hope that you will be allowed to use every skin/design with every armour set.
-
They've shown some pictures and short clips showing off different skins and helmets. I may have even seen some different shoulders in there, but I'm not completely sure. Female Spartan models are making a return and it doesn't make any sense to offer less customisation than previous games.

Is the Halo 4 Battle Rifle a 5 shot headshot or the original 4 shot
CandiBunni replied to Poo1337's topic in Halo 4
In the builds that people have played it's a five shot kill. I'm hoping that in the final game it will be four shots, but we'll just have to wait and see. However if they need to increase or decrease the number of bursts/shots it takes to kill someone to better balance the weapon(s) (If slowing down the rate of fire wouldn't be a better option), then I'm completely fine with that. -
No, you're wrong. Just because someones opinion differs from your own does not make them dumb or anything of the sort. I could turn around and say that "If you think that keeping the exact same style of gameplay and not changing any of the mechanics or adding new ones will bring Halo back to its former glory then you are a moron.", but I won't. I won't because I don't believe that and because everyone is free to prefer whatever style of play they wish. Halo: Reach definitely has its problems, I won't lie. There were weapons that were a bit overpowered, weapons that were underpowered, armour abilities were not implemented as well as they could have been, sprinting was not a standard ability that everyone had access to at all times, the bloom of Vanilla Reach was broken, etc. However despite these problems it is probably my favourite Halo game in terms of gameplay, just below the original Combat Evolved. I've been a fan of the series for years and my first Halo game was Halo: Combat Evolved for the original Xbox. I'm not someone who just recently started playing the series and doesn't know what the other entries are like. I'm free to prefer whichever games I wish and you are free to do the same. However don't you try to tell me or anyone else that someone isn't very intelligent or act superior to them just because they happened to think Halo: Reach was a step towards the right direction (or even that it was a fantastic game or anything like that).
