  1. Mhmm. It looks like you'll have to earn those by killing other players. Certain locations placed upon the map seem to be where you'll be able to call in one of three choices. You'll still have to pick them up, so players won't just be in a firefight and automatically have it equipped.
  2. I'm assuming you're going off of the build that someone played (that was still being tweaked mind you) where both the BR and DMR were 5 shot kills. I would think that they would continue to keep the Battle Rifle as a four shot kill, and hopefully keep the DMR as a five shot as well. I do not personally want either weapons STK to be increased or decreased unless they need to be to properly balance them both out.
  3. Well if you get a new Xbox 360 Slim and a hard drive with plenty of space for it, that's a good deal in my opinion. It is far quieter than the original models, so much so that you'll barely notice it if at all. There won't be any need for installing games to make the console quieter while running them as well. It's your choice, but that's just how I feel about it. Go with what you want to.
  4. Please read the comments made by myself and Bullet Storm. The kinds of updates you're asking for Halo: Reach just aren't really feasible. Updates like these would require huge downloads and take up massive amounts of storage space if they implemented them. They're not really something they can realistically do. Also please don't tell people to "shut up". You may not like someone else's opinion, but they are free to voice it just as you are free to voice yours. None of the comments made in this thread have been very negative, no one has been poking fun at you or insulting you or anything else like that.
  5. Honestly falling damage in Halo: Reach wasn't really that bad at all. If you think it was bad in Halo: Reach, it was even worse in Halo: Combat Evolved. They greatly reduced the falling damage for Halo: Reach, and personally I wanted it to be even more than it was in the final game. Remember Damnation in the original Halo: Combat Evolved? If you fell from the area where the Active Camo was floating to just below where the Shotgun lay, you would pretty much lose all of your shields and possibly even some health. In Halo: Reach, you lose very little, if any, shields when falling in the exact same area. I'm also pretty sure that in Halo: Reach if you fall from Sniper to Rockets with full shields that you'll survive and, at worst, lose all of your shields and a tiny sliver of health. Where as in Halo: Combat Evolved that fall would just outright kill you.
  6. From the clips we've seen there looks like there may be fall damage. I'm a fan of fall damage. I loved it in Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 3: ODST, and Halo: Reach (though I wish there had been a bit more in Reach). It's just something that I've always enjoyed having in Halo. Personally I would love to see it return.
  7. While we know it will be in Halo 4, that doesn't mean it will be Halo: Reach's version of bloom. From a statement made by someone who played a build of the game, they said that the DMR's bloom wasn't as bad as it was in Halo: Reach. I'm sure that 343 Industries is going to fine tune everything to make sure it works just how they want it to. I don't mind it being on weapons like the Assault Rifle, DMR, Magnum, etc. Weapons like the Battle Rifle I think can do without it though. Maybe they could have a mix of both bloom and recoil for the weapons in Halo 4. By that I mean some weapons functioning as they did in past games but with recoil added, while others might just use bloom. They could also have certain high power weapons using a combination of both.
  8. I recently turned 20 this past April.
  9. Except that in Call of Duty there are no weapons placed upon the map. In Halo 4 you will be able to pick up weapons like you would in any other Halo game. The only difference is that now you can choose what (of the few available and not including power weapons) weapons you wish to spawn with. If someone wants to start with an AR, BR, or DMR instead of whatever the map's default gives them, I see no reason to deny them that so long as weapons are well balanced. In Call of Duty you aren't able to pick up weapons that other players might be using by finding them placed upon certain areas on each map. In Call of Duty you get weapon attachments that also either increase or decrease the accuracy, damage, rate of fire, etc. for your weapons. This isn't the case for Halo 4. Just because Call of Duty does something doesn't automatically make it a bad thing. Plenty of other games do this, and I see no reason why Halo cannot so long as it is balanced well within the sandbox and how Halo plays. "Halo needs to keep its identity!" This is true, but it also needs to evolve, take on new mechanics, and learn to adapt to the market in which it lives. I can assure you that remaining the exact same as previous entries in the series has a much higher chance of killing it off than changing it does. With change comes new players, a bigger community, a new community even. Keeping things exactly as they have been keeps out new players and pleases only the die hard fans who want to keep living the memories they've had with past Halo titles. Even then, die hard Halo fans will eventually grow tired of the series and move on as well. I don't want to experience the same thing in each game. I want every game to have something new for me, something that I'll play around with and say "This is pretty awesome. It makes it feel pretty fresh and less of the same old Halo I've been playing. I can't wait to see what's in the next installment." .
  10. It may not be Halo to you, but that doesn't mean it's not Halo period. Everyone has their own opinion on what makes Halo what it is, and I for one don't see much issue with having to unlock things for custom loadouts. You will still probably be able to pick up weapons placed around the map just like in previous entries, except now you're rewarded for your time playing and points spent by being able to pick from a few select weapons as a custom loadout. There will also be a default loadout depending on the map and gametype being played. If you're on a huge open map, it's not going to only give you an Assault Rifle and Magnum as a default loadout. I'm sure it'd start you with the Sniper Rifle and/or a DMR instead. Likewise it will more than likely give you an Assault Rifle/Battle Rifle and Magnum combination for more close and medium range maps.
  11. From all that I have seen, heard about, and read I can safely say I like what I know so far. It all seems pretty fun and interesting to me and I can't wait to get into the game and start playing with everything. I'm still on the fence about stuff like modifications and other things like that, but so long as they can balance everything in Halo 4 pretty well then I won't have much of an issue with it. Halo 4 seems very promising to me so far, but I'm not going to form any sort of final thoughts on it until I've played through the entire campaign and played a good amount of Spartan Ops, Custom Games, maybe used Forge, and played some online Matchmaking. What I think would be a smart decision to make is waiting to accept or dismiss Halo 4 until you've done the above. Experienced a good chunk of all it has to offer. I do wish a lot of people would stop trying to use the "it's not Halo!" "it doesn't belong in Halo!" arguments. Everyone has their own opinion on what makes Halo what it is and who are we to say what belongs in Halo? Last time I checked the developers decided what does and doesn't belong in their game, not the players. They can listen and get feedback from the community, but at the end of the day it is their decision.
  12. What I would recommend is trying to fix your internet connection if this is becoming a problem. Try resetting your modem/router, checking the network settings, and even contacting your ISP about the issue.
  13. I hate to disappoint you, but dual-wielding isn't going to be in Halo 4. They couldn't properly balance it with the mechanics and systems they're using, and so rather than try to and possibly fail they decided to just get rid of it. I'm personally not bothered by this as I never cared for dual-wielding, but I thought I'd just tell you and everyone else who doesn't yet know this.
  14. There won't be a Legendary Edition. There will be two editions: Standard and Limited.
  15. Well weapons will still be placed around the map as always I'm sure. However if you wish to use a certain weapon and such for a custom loadout on spawn you're going to have to unlock the ability to do so. I quite like that, as it gives the players some incentive to rank up and also makes people work for the loadout they want to create. If weapons and abilities can be balanced well (if not perfectly) then I see no issue with it.

    Helmets

I'm currently using the Pilot helmet with whatever the first attachment is called and a blue visor. My favourite helmet is either the Mark V. (I'm a huge fan of the original helmet and armour of Halo: Combat Evolved), Mark V., or CQB (Was it CQC? I can't remember! Dx) .
  17. Most of, if not all, of these things you're asking for either couldn't be done or would require an update so large that it wouldn't really be feasible. I hate to disappoint you, but something like this won't ever happen. At least not in Halo: Reach.
  18. No it won't. Spartan Ops will be free. When you purchase the game, Spartan Ops is something you receive simply for doing so. If they decide to do a second season and so on then it may become DLC and will probably cost something due to them having to invest resources into it post launch.
  19. My advice would be to try creating a name that has some meaning behind it. I know a lot of people choose to just come up with something that they think sounds nice, but creating a name based upon something, someone, or some event(s) that have meaning behind them can really make a name something special.
  20. I'd like to make a correction to #1 on your list. In Halo: Combat Evolved you could only change your armour colour (one single colour) and the name of your profile. There weren't any other cosmetic options available. As for the topic of whether or not weapon skins are good or bad, I happen to like the idea. So long as the skins don't interfere with how the weapon silhouettes look then I see no issue with them. I do hope that there will be more than just camo skins, maybe some original designs based upon characters, places, and such.
  21. If you're going to give us choices of which map(s) we would like remade, why not include maps from every Halo title? All I see here are maps from Halo 3, including some that were remakes of older maps. I would like to see the following maps remade. Prisoner (Halo: Combat Evolved) Chiron TL-34 (Halo: Combat Evolved) Chill Out (Halo: Combat Evolved) Headlong (Halo 2) Epitaph (Halo 3) Powerhouse (Halo: Reach) Highlands (Halo: Reach) Sword Base (Halo: Reach) I know some of these have been remade in the more recent titles, but I'd still very much enjoy seeing them and the rest on the list in newer Halo titles.
  22. 1. That is all it is, a rumour. Armour customisation is definitely in Halo 4, there isn't any doubt about that. Dual-wielding has been removed because the sandbox they created wouldn't work well with something like that. It would be extremely difficult to balance, and so they chose the easiest route by removing dual-wielding from play. 3. Firefight isn't going to be in Halo 4. It is being replaced by "Spartan Ops". 4. I don't know about you, but I don't want to wait for my drop pod to land somewhere on the map every time I respawn. It would really be a waste of resources in my opinion, not to mention it wouldn't make much sense considering the multiplayer takes place on a ship, so dropping in from a pod wouldn't make much sense anyway. 5. Some vehicles would be very overpowered in multiplayer (Pelican, Scarab, etc.) so I can't see them ever being something we'll get to use outside of the campaign if that. 7. I don't want to see mostly old armour variants. A few like Mark V. and Mark VI. are fine but I want to see most if not all brand new armour variants. 8. You wouldn't need to create two separate Forge modes for this, simply allow the player to enable or disable teams. 9. I would love a colour wheel. Instead of being limited to three shades for each colour, we could have a wheel allowing us to pick absolutely any shade that we wanted. This would be a great improvement and would help cut down on people looking the same as one another. Like you said, if someone doesn't like the shades it offers then they can simply go into the wheel and select a custom colour.

  24. They aren't going to bring back Halo 2's matchmaking service. I know you and a lot of other people miss it, but it really is time to move on. I'm sure there are a lot of fond memories that you and others share from the days of Halo 2's matchmaking, but those days are over. Accept it. 343 Industries isn't going to be focusing on the past, they're going to be focusing on the here and now as well as the future of the series.
  25. The best edition of Halo 4 will be the Limited Edition because it comes with a lot of extra content. Whether or not you'll be able to afford getting the Limited over the Standard is another story. If you're short on money then the Standard Edition is the way to go, however the better version would still be the Limited. Also, there will be no Legendary Edition. They've already said that the only edition besides the Standard will be the Limited, so there's no reason to fear them coming out with yet another after you pre-order the Limited Edition of Halo 4.
