343 Industries announced yesterday that there will be six Halo 2 multiplayer maps that will have new updated graphics as part of the Halo 2: Anniversary edition in The Master Chief collection. We know Ascension will be among the six graphically upgraded maps as we seen it in the brief Halo 2: Anniversary multiplayer demo. Now Frank O'Connor has announced another two other maps of the six that will be getting a new coat of paint and those maps are Lockout and Zanzibar. Frank O'Connor confirmed this on Neogaf not so long ago. "Remade H2 faves, with proprietary graphics and a modified version of h2 gameplay. Lockout, Ascension, Zanzi... OG maps and gameplay completely intact. It's extra content." Now he didn't fully say the word "Zanzibar" but it's pretty safe to say that he meant to say it, he is most likely just teasing. According to Microsoft/343 Industries we will be getting Halo news everyday over the course of E3 so by the end of the working week we could have all six Halo 2 maps confirmed of a makeover. What do you think of those two maps being confirmed for a graphics update? What maps would you like to see among the next three? Source: Neogaf

Speculations have been running around for a long time if Armor Abilities will be making a return in Halo 5 and in the Halo 5: Guardians teaser trailer at E3 today it said "All new Spartan Abilities", this lead to further assumption that this caption meant Armor Abilities and therefore they will be returning. But Frank O'Connor (aka Stinkles on Neogaf) responded to a concerned user refarding Armor Abilities. Frank O'connor confirmed that Armor Abilities would not be making a return and that "Spartan Abilities" does not mean Armor Abilities but they are feature like being able to hijack vehicles. "Not thrilled that armor abilities seem to be making a return." Frank replies "They aren't. The wording is confusing but it means. "features". Using h2 as an example, new features would have been dual wielding and boarding." So Armor Abilities are not making a return in Halo 5: Guardians, could this be the beginning of Halo going back to it's old roots again? Are you happy or unhappy to hear the confirmation of Armor Abilities not making a return? Source: neogaf.com

Microsoft has released PC drivers for the Xbox One controller today, the announcement came from Xbox Live's Major Nelson. Gamers can now use their Xbox One controller to play games and use apps on their PC by downloading the required drivers(available on Major Nelson's site). Major Nelson also stated that they are planning to release the drivers in a Windows update in the near future but gamers can get early access to it today. A micro USB cable will be required as it does not support a wireless connection at the moment. Games that currently support the Xbox 360 controller will be compatible with the Xbox One controller. Now on to the conspiracy. In the announcement of the Xbox One controller PC drivers on Major Nelson's site there is a picture that shows the Xbox One controller that is connected to a Surface Pro to demonstrate the new functionality of the feature and it has the Halo 2's main title screen on it. See below. Now this could be solely for demonstration purposes to show of the new feature but with the cavalcade of rumors and "hints" over the past number of months many might take this as another nudge towards Halo 2 anniversary being in the works. So Is it? It does seem suspicious that they are using Halo 2 in that image and not an image of one of their recent products such as Halo: Spartan Assault considering it is the latest Halo game out right now and the fact that it is available to play on PC and Windows devices. Is this another nod towards a Halo 2 anniversary or is it just an innocent act? Anyway I'll leave it for you to decide, leave your thoughts on this news below. Source: majornelson.com

Lol I didn't read your post properly, I thought you edited the post to reveal the answers so I was confused as to why you did that when no one had answered yet. Just to be clear I edited my post before I realized you replied to me haha. Also sorry if I'm a bit slow minded here but is this a joke thread?

In the announcement of 343 Industries' next big game in the Halo universe "Halo 5: Guardians" they posted a piece of concept art on their site, Halo Waypoint, have a look below. So, if you look at the image the main focus of this piece of art is of a group of buildings of some kind of facility, the buildings appear to have been built in a canyon within and around rocky cliffs that seem to be located in a desert landscape, possibly the same world that Master Chief was on in the 2013 E3 trailer, we can also see a person or a humanoid being walking through the grounds of the buildings. The architecture of the buildings themselves don't seem to be very Human or Forerunner like, so it leaves the question of who built them and what is the purpose of this facility? If you look at the huge rock pillar there seems to be (I could be wrong) a giant sitting or standing against it holding and looking at an object, a weapon perhaps? could that thing be a Guardian if it is in fact a living being or an AI? Is it just a statue? In the sky there are what appears to be tentacled creatures (or some kind of odd ships?) flying over the cliffs that may leave a burning question to many of what they are. Also in the sky there are two suns that are bearing down on to the world, where this place is a mystery at this point until we get more information further down the road. So what do you think of this piece of art, where do you think it is set? Source: Halo Waypoint View full article

Adam91 replied to Screech's topic in Halo 2 + Anniversary
The tv show isn't going to be (or not suppose to be) a filler, it is it's own piece of extended universe and lore so I can't see it just building up to the events of Halo 5 and letting the game take it from there. It will could take place at the same time as the game but follow a different route. -

There's been a couple of articles claiming to have the E3 lineup some say there is no Halo 2 anniversary and Halo 5 content and I've seen others say there will be Halo 2 and Halo 5. I can't see a Halo games-less microsoft conference at E3. It was confirmed by Phil Spencer that Halo will show up at E3, I will keep in mind of the possibility that he may only be referring to the TV series but I definitely think it is game related. Also lets not forget the slogan from last years E3 "2014 your journey begins on Xbox one" and "your Halo journey continues in 2014" that Microsoft has been saying, that could too relate to the TV series but I think it will air early next year. So what else could those slogans fit with? It can't be the next Major Halo because they would have properly started marketing it with vidocs, trailers etc long by now if it were to come out this year, we would have the release date for it too by now. The only thing I can see it can fit with is Halo 2 anniversary because Halo 2 itself already exists, it's not a brand new installment, it's only a HD remake so they don't need to have a big long marketing campaign for it, Revealing it at E3 then a few months of advertising it would be enough just like what they did with Halo CEA. My opinion does change from time to time regarding if Halo 2 anniversary will happen due to the lack of official confirmation or denial of it, there's times where I've been confident it will and times where I just say to myself just wait and see. But there's something I've always wondered and that is why microsoft has not shot down the rumor yet, months after it started? They did it with other halo 2 rumors in a matter of hours of surfacing and rumors regarding their other products. -
The Games With Gold program will start this June for the Xbox One announced by Head of Xbox, Phil Spencer. Yes Games With Gold launches on the Xbox One in June, which is a lot sooner than what a lot of people expected, the launch is to mark the one year anniversary when it first launched on the Xbox 360. The two games that will be available to download for free are "Max: The Curse of Brotherhood" and "Halo: Spartan Assault." Phil Spencer made the announcement earlier today on Xbox Wire. "The program will launch on Xbox One with “Max: The Curse of Brotherhood” and “Halo: Spartan Assault.” A single Gold membership will get you access to the free games for both Xbox One and Xbox 360." Max: The Curse of Brotherhood that released just last December is a 2-D side scrolling game developed by Press Play which is a sequel to "Max & The Magic Marker". Halo: Spartan Assault originally came out for Microsoft Windows and Windows Phone last year and then released on the Xbox 360 and Xbox One. There will also be three titles to download for free in June for Xbox 360 users, the additional title on top of the two gold subscribers originally get is also to celebrate the one year anniversary. The three free games are "Dark Souls,” “Charlie Murder” and “Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition.” So by looks of this announcement Xbox 360 users will get a total of five games for free in June as they can also get the two free games that are coming to the Xbox One. What do you think of Games With Gold coming to the Xbox One? Are you looking forward to see the future of the program on the new console? Source: Xbox Wire
