Why are the marines wearing army gear and armor?

Actually, There were indeed Marines in Reach. This is what they looked like in Reach and you may see why these were easily mistaken for Army soldiers: The two can be distinguished by their armor color. Marines have brown armor compared to the Army's primarily khaki.
