http://www.gameinformer.com/p/halo4.aspx so i was looking on game informer and there is a big picture of masterchief holding the new assault rifle
-
so really, who actually does like Master Chief's new armor?
Skittlze replied to Katthejedi's topic in Halo 4
I like it they have changed the armor between every halo. I wouldnt want a copy and paste of the halo 3 armor and i think that the detail in the new armor is awesome. the only thing i dont like are how bulgy his back is and i know its been like that in other halos this one just looks a lil extreme to me. but overall this seems more functional and cooler...i just hope they explain how it changed because in halo 1-2 they explained it and in 2-3 it was more of a graphics improvement so hopefully there is a little reason in the beginning of the game -
so rather than the glitches what if 343 added a small thing on purpose as a little way to a little bit faster like adding in a click noise everytime you reloaded so that you could reload faster if you pressed reload durring the click noise but if you messed up then the gun jammed for an extra second or two or made it so that you could fire the br/dmr twice as soon but only durring a small window and if you missed this small window you had to reload and unjam the gun which would add a high risk high reward aspect to taking advantage of these mechanics. plus this would also stop people from spamming the trigger and make more of an emphasis on timing their shots still i understand people dont like these ideas but would this make it better or is this just more cheep tricks in your opinions? cant wait to hear what people think

the arena isnt very competetive...it was really more of an epic fail good idea but still epic fail at least bungie tried tho...
-
i never really used them in halo 2 i was kinda a noob back then just thought that the concept of quick button combos would be cool but i guess if nobody else wants them then they would be better left out

way to throw in no input what so ever... congrats we all know you hate cod now try posting something helpful -
So in halo 2 there was the bxr bxb glitches. These increased the skill gap between pro and noobs by a lot. Well why not bring back button combos like these. Not as glitches but as an actual part of the game similar to how in gears of war you can press a button to reload faster. I know that there are many people who would be like wait that's not fair what about all the people who aren't good at quick button combos? Well why not have an option in game settings to enable or disable them and in matchmaking those players who are skilled with the button combos can use them and up their rank and those who aren't as good will play In the lower ranks or play social until they can use them and be as good as the pros Just my idea probably to late for halo 4 but what about halo 5?

The Halo 4 Battle Rifle Approximately one week ago, we released a slew of Halo 4–related information, much of which we provided clarification about in last week’s Bulletin. One thing that didn’t need clarifying, however, was the return of the Battle Rifle. After sitting out for a few games and letting its brethren shine, the Battle Rifle is officially coming back in Halo 4, in all of its three-round-burst glory. As someone who invested a decent chunk of time in both Halo 2 and Halo 3, I’m excited to welcome the BR back into the fold. Whether I was wandering around aimlessly with a fully charged Plasma Pistol or playing SWAT on Lockout, camping lower BR tower and spawn-killing everybody in my direct line of sight (yes, I was one of those people), the Battle Rifle was my trusty sidekick for nearly six years, delivering three bullets per trigger pull to either my opponent’s head or the area adjacent to their head. Some people would say the latter more than the former. And those people would be right. Whether you are welcoming back an old friend, or introducing yourself to a new one, take a second to fully absorb the BR’s appearance, because this will be your rifle. There may be others like it, but this one will be yours. The BR85HB Service Rifle is a gas-operated, magazine-fed semi-automatic rifle optimized for three-round-burst firing, and proven to be extraordinarily effective against dissipative energy shielding on both exotic and domestic armor types. Performance-wise, the Battle Rifle is hitscan (meaning the effect is immediate), it features a scope attachment (x2), and it has recoil in its current tuning (rising slightly when fired but in a suppressible way). It doesn’t have bloom, the rhythm feels good when firing it, and it can be used for longer-range engagement. For the uninitiated, the Battle Rifle is most known for its three-round burst. In previous games, this three-round burst was known, but not felt or heard. In Halo 4, it’s known, felt, and heard. The first time I picked up a Battle Rifle in Halo 4, I was excited, but not overly so. I knew it was there and I was happy it was there, but I was more curious than anything else. Upon picking it up from a fallen foe, I started searching for someone to test it out on. After finding one such person, I began to unleash my fury upon them, and after the first pull of the trigger, my ears were greeted with three distinct and powerful pops, my controller began rumbling, and I suddenly felt like the most powerful and badass Spartan to ever walk the earth. Then, I died. The experience of wielding the Battle Rifle was so satisfying, though, that upon spawning, my only goal was to get it back. I did just that, a few different times, and what I learned from that first experience was my excitement caused me to flail, but exercising control and focusing on precision were ultimately rewarded. The major driving force behind the design of the Halo 4 Battle Rifle was a decision to base it on real-world weaponry and then add sci-fi elements. Since the BR already existed, we didn’t want to deviate too far from its last iteration. So we updated it, while putting our own creative spin on it. The overall silhouette is similar to the existing BR, with a few artistic changes. Old-school UNSC weapons were grounded in modern day to give the sense that Spartans are underpowered. We wanted to retain that while pushing the sci-fi elements. You can see that in the scope, the LCD display, the ammo count, and other stylistic details on the gun. In regard to the scope in particular, traditionally, Halo has had one type of each weapon per game. Taking into consideration Halo 4’s sandbox, we went with the square scope to differentiate it from other guns and rifles that have bulky scopes on them. Another way we’re conveying the power of the Battle Rifle is through audio. This weapon is truly a force to be reckoned with, and it’s important that viciousness is incorporated both in how it feels and in how it sounds. The three-round burst is one of the most important aspects of this gun, and that is represented through a slightly ascending pitch scale and a strong accent on the final shot. The base sounds are from FN SCAR and M16-A rifles, and then other elements were added to help fill out the frequency spectrum. A caulking gun, a belt-sander being turned off (pitched down half an octave), and a short snippet from a 2-inch mortar explosion all contribute to what will eventually be going directly into your earholes. If you play with Nerf guns as much as we do (there may or may not be a few scattered around the studio), you’ll enjoy knowing that rather fun noise is one of the components that make up the BR's reload. Accompanying it are a metal C-stand, an old rusty scooter, and real weapon mechanics from WWI-era to modern day firearms. Since the Battle Rifle is one of the most popular Halo weapons, we’ve repeatedly asked ourselves, “What do we keep the same, and what do we change?” We want the Battle Rifle to be an iconic status weapon. When players get it, we want them to feel empowered, especially by the way it operates. We’re hoping that we nailed it. You can let us know Holiday 2012. -Waypoint update- So this is pretty cool. Not much new but lots of details about the br. Not to pumped about hit scan but I hope it will work.

Still all you have is people gaining exp so how do they rank down?
-
The reach ranks were a good idea but they weren't supposed to be for judging skill. Many halo fans and almost all fans of halo 2 & 3 want a number ranking system back. In reach the arena was supposed to inspire competition but it failed. The halo 2 & 3 number ranking systems worked at separating the good and bad players so that competitive players could play with other people in their skill level. Is it really fair to abandon the players who like to compete and rank up? Hell even an arena system would be better than no competition at all (as I say this I would like to point out how ******* terrible the arena was)
-
I understood your post the first time I just didn't like your idea. Not to be rude but there are ways to screw a team over just so you can go positive. Like letting your teammates take off a persons shields and then stealing the headshots. Also you are saying that there should be exp that determines rank while I feel that it should be based on wins and losses instead of a complicated formula that says ok you have an average of this much for These games so you get this. Also the exp would make people want a cod/reach like rank system that doesn't inspire teamwork or competition
-
What about number ranks?

Elephants...ya that's more than 3 times his weight

The Obvious : Its sitting right there yet hasn't been picked up...

No way you figured that out! Are you from the future? Where's your time machine!!!!! -
dmr worked like br in halo 2 kinda for supressing snipers. but im very happy to know that the br is back i could care less about bringing back the dmr

The feel of CE is far preferable to the feeling Reach i tried playing reach the other day and i still hate it even with all the changes that have been implemented into it to fix it. the fact that they have so many updates shows how broken reach is. even with the small community sticking to halo 3 i would still play classic halo style gameplay than the broken system of reach if they would bring back halo 2 online then i would go back and play that halo 3 is a great game but out of all halos, halo 2 was the best gameplay wise. it had bugs and glitches but these werent unusual for a game on the original xbox. and the fact that so many found these small glitches shows how loved it was by its fans

i think that looking at the new art style the new br deffinitly fits better

Halo 2 ranking system with a halo 3 social playlist or a halo reach style credits playlist for exp or credits. can somebody please tell me why not? i just want a reason. 1 good reason.
-
they way halo 3 did matchmaking was perfect. the only problem was that the halo 2 ranking system was better that the true skill system of halo 3. the really competetive player would normally be in MLG playlist which is why MLG is a ranked playlist. i dont agree with saying that people on the loosing team should get a break if they go positive. there will be people on the winning team that went negative so based on your reasoning they should be penalized because they hurt the team right? no, there are so many ways to contribute to a team and if you are so good that you can go +15 then if you are a good leader then you can help the rest of your team go positive too. and with a ranking system the whole point is to have games where everybody is even and there isnt the one noob who is just terrible playing with a bunch of 25s even. a noob should be stuck in the 10-15 levels until they get accustomed to the game because their wins will be inconsistent. in the halo 2 system it wasnt 1 loss and you deranked. in halo 2 every time you ranked up or down the next level up or down were a certain number of wins or losses away, so if you lost one game and then won 5 you would rank up. lossing means you have lost more than you have won and if you lose 4 in a row you cant blame it on the people youve been paired with. also you will get put on teams of people who are better than you too and they will help you win when you are out matched. trying to create a cushion would make the ranking system uneven and too easy to rank up like it was in halo 3
-
congrats play social then where you can play all day and feel good because you never got deranked. Lol I still think credits are stupid. that just makes me sound ignorant. maybe you should put some reasons behind your argument. ranking down allows for people to play within their own skill level and gives competetive players a reason to play more than just 1 game at a time. having a ranking system where you can go up and down gives an incentive to get better. and having a seperate playlist for social and casual gamers allows for fun play that isnt so serious.
-
They shouldnt have been playing ranked. in halo 3 there was a separate area for fun called social. in this playlist you rank up based on exp similar to reach. The credit system as you just pointed out is not the competetive side of halo reach, the arena is. so anybody who says that ranks should be based off of credits is stupid because in halo reach the credits werent even supposed to be the ranking system. 343i please bring back the 1-50 ranks and do it like in halo 2. base it purely off of winning and losing because halo is a team game. and for anybody who doesnt want to play as a team they can go do lone wolves or rumble pit.

Battle Rifle and Master Chief of halo 4 need changes !
Skittlze replied to AFROwookie's topic in Halo 4
This is stupid. you have pointed out two very stupid and miniscule opinions. I hope this thread gets locked because it is so pointless -
Sprint forge campaign granade launcher these were IMO the only good things about reach
-
THE CREDITS WERE NOT A RANKING SYSTEM! IN HALO REACH IT WAS THE ARENA THAT WAS THE RANKING SYSTEM!!! bungie failed with the idea of an arena ranking system so very few might play arena but it was the arena that was supposed to be the ranking system. in reach bungie never intended for credits to be the ranking system.
