The Weekly Site Poll 55 - Future Halo Stories
Drizzy_Dan replied to I_Make_Big_Boom's topic in General Discussion
this is some brilliant writing especially because you don't necessarily have to kill off a character and everyone could be happy. You just didn't respond to the poll wth Fish lol- 13 replies

The Weekly Site Poll 55 - Future Halo Stories
Drizzy_Dan replied to I_Make_Big_Boom's topic in General Discussion
I'd love to see a story following Romeo after New Blood. We know he's a Spartan IV now on top secret missions donning Deadeye Mjolnir so I'd like that explored more.- 13 replies

Thank you to everyone who joined. We had our best-of-five series matches with HaloCustoms last weekend and here are the results: On Friday we swept our friends on the virtual battlefield 3-0 winning Slayer on Perseus (a much better version of Pegasus made by no god anywhere), Slayer on Contract (remake of Construct from Halo 3), and Battle Golf on Gingerbread Falls. It was also a 3v4 with the team consisting of only @ , @@GermanShepherdD , and @Twam Our staff and members played valiantly against our frenemies and came out with a win on the first day of the event. Find the full recap with great screenshots on HaloCustoms in their full Friday recap. Then on Saturday, the corrupt but handsome @@Psychoduck recruited a special guest to kick our butts all the way to the Ark (outside of the known galaxy). Duck got famous streamer and former competitive Halo player Vetoed to play for his team along with BTBnet admin Matclan. This was a much closer series where we were taken to a game 4. Needless to say Vetoed absolutely REQ'd us but I had a trick up my sleeve as well and called in another streamer, SMELI5A. She may not be as skilled as Vetoed but she definitely increased our chances. Results: Get the full recap from Saturday with player stats from HaloCustoms in their Saturday recap. And on Sunday we ended up winning as well giving us three straight wins in our friendly competition with HaloCustoms. I don't have a recap from that day but we won. GG. Be sure to visit Halocustoms.com to meet some cool people and have fun with their innovative lobby system if you're looking for games. That's also where I watch almost all of my streams.

The Best & WORST 4 - Weapons of Halo
Drizzy_Dan replied to I_Make_Big_Boom's topic in General Discussion
Highly subjective but I want to say the best weapon in the game is the very versatile and rugged Battle Rifle. -Detachable scope that can be adjusted and changed. -Effective at mid and long range. Even close range depending on the skill of its user. -Controlled 3 shot burst for accuracy and power. The worst weapon for me is the Focus Rifle. Like what is that thing? -Streams plasma on a target instead one shot giving away position. -Not nearly an effective weapon even at its intended range. -Should really just become a Beam Rifle.- 9 replies

@@Bill1138 your knowledge of the Haloverse is impeccable! Good to see another Halo lore buff here!

Not necessarily to die, but to exile themselves from the known parts of the universe in order to atone for their sins. Dying was inclusive for some though.

The Prophets found Forerunner artifacts and were able to interpret Forerunner scripture at an early point in history. The Forerunners have their own version of the Great Journey that they wrote about taking place after the activation of the rings. The Prophets thought that activating the Array would send them on the Great Journey not knowing what the Forerunners' Great Journey was.

Blood Gulch adapted to warzone, and classic maps!
Drizzy_Dan replied to Ren98's topic in Halo 5: Guardians
I think this could work if it were for Warzone. Like Fishy said we get remakes in arena all the time and they don't turn out that great lol. Warzone would bring an entirely different aspect to our favorite maps. I think some Halo 4 maps would be great for this idea. -
One Halo ring has a 3D radius of 25,000 light-years so the whole array has to be used in unison in order to wipe all sentient life from the universe. Fishy summed up the answer to the second question pretty well. You also helped answer by asking your third question. It's because Forerunner tech was so advanced that they could construct the Array fairly quickly along with the original Array being constructed secretly against the Didact's wishes. Lastly, because the Flood is a highly intelligent parasite remotely controlled by a hivemind being, it is near impossible to destroy physically. The Gravemind is arguably more intelligent than all of the Forerunners due to the countless minds its incorporated into its own and also because of the Primordial leaving its imprint on it making it all the more knowledgeable. There supposedly is a way to defeat the Flood without using the Halos by using the portal at Voi according to Cortana but that was never expanded upon since it was stated as far as I know.

I finished the campaign today and was not that taken with it. I didn't feel emotionally invested in any of the characters and there wasn't any cutscene that made me excited or think, "Wow that was cool!" like in Halo Wars 1. The game was also quite predictable storywise. The gameplay however was very mixed and I enjoyed it. I just suck at it. It was good and the cutscenes were beautifully designed by Blur, but the storytelling felt kind of rough.

I've been reading a lot of good non-spoilery things and they've seemed promising!

With Halo Wars 2 just around the corner I figure it's more than appropriate to start this thread up. Feel free to discuss anything about Halo Wars 2 in this thread from multiplayer modes to the campaign. *PLEASE APPROPRIATELY MARK SPOILERS WITH THE SPOILER TAG* If you're unsure what you're saying is a spoiler, put it in the spoiler anyway. If you want to be spoiled then be spoiled by no one other than Haruspis, who received a copy early of Halo Wars 2 and has written a detailed blog post on his impressions of the campaign here. Everything else can just be written below. Share your hopes, strategies, and thoughts.

That's a beaut. And what great timing.

Jacob is pretty much right on the button. Dominion Splinter in Tales From Slipspace tells the story of Cortana's still-functional fragments after she sacrificed herself to save Chief at the end of Halo 4. The Cortana we experience in Halo 5: Guardians is fragment that most closely resembles, or is pretty much the embodiment of, the Cortana we read about in Human Weakness (the story that made us believe Karen Traviss could actually write for the Haloverse). She's a knowledge-hungry, ambitious, selfish AI who wants peace in the galaxy by uniting all sentient life forms under one near-omniscient presence. This was the exact "solution" she was offered when she was almost succumbed to the logic plague in Human Weakness by the Gravemind. If everyone was of the same mind, then there would be no fighting and knowledge would be shared. Cortana was able to hold out and refuse as she saw it to be a betrayal to John most of all. Thinking of him is what got her through the time she spent on High Charity being tormented by the Gravemind and that's why she is so possessive about him and lenient toward his actions instead of eliminating at least his teammates. Even though Cortana now is not technically "rampant," it's clear that her thought processes are not reasonable as she is trying to unite everyone through threats of extermination if they do not join (which she has done to many lifeforms already).

The way I see it, if you're playing a game mode where you're spawning in REQs then you're not trying to play competitively. I mean I guess they're trying to make that work with Warzone Warlords but REQs just aren't competitive. A shotgun that can shoot from a mile away and reload 5 shells with one pump, a sword that makes you invisible, run faster, and have longer lunge range; a rocket launcher that makes you run faster, jump higher, and projectiles move as fast as a sniper bullet? These have been in from the beginning and taking them out would probably be counterproductive at this point in the game's lifespan. If we're talking automatic weapons in ranked playlists then I'm with you like the SMG that you said for example. Some kind of damage or red reticule range adjustment could work.

I predict we're going to have a lot of people disappointed and that I'm probably going to like it a lot. A lot of people seem to dislike Halo 5 and I love it as much as I loved Halo 3 which is saying a lot. Right now what we really need is everything we currently have in Halo 5 (theater [but a working one], customs browser, file browser, Forge, all gametypes, ranked and social playlists, large armor selection, etc. but also a GOOD CAMPAIGN. Bonus: I predict we don't see Didact or the Gravemind, the two best antagonists in Halo.

The Weekly Site Poll 53 - Favorite Halo Quotes
Drizzy_Dan replied to I_Make_Big_Boom's topic in General Discussion
My signature- which has never been removed in all 5 years of my time here (but censored when the the word was put into the blacklist)- is my favorite quote and I use this same quote as my signature across almost all the other Halo sites I'm a member on. It's Sergeant Forge's parting words to the Arbiter Ripa 'Moramee after their last awesome fight where Forge is victorious. Another one that I've always loved and is a clear second place is when Master Chief says, "I need a weapon," in Halo 2. And then anything the Gravemind says is fantastic.
