  1. This contest was a huge success!  The judges were there several times a week for several hours proving to be very reliable.  The maps that were submitted were amazing!  If you did not win the top 3, don't be discouraged, instead contact myself or any other willing judge for feedback.  There were literally dozens of beautiful well forged maps.  A lot of the ones disqualified were because of minor issues like spawning, kill boundaries  or weapon placement.  Don't let your time go to waste on these great maps.  Make some changes and submit them into a future contest.  Also be humble and teachable.  You will never become a better forger unless you are willing to learn from everyone and grow.  I want to congratulate the 3 finalists.  One of them in particular, I am very proud of.  I have busted his balls since REACH when I found him.  He had over 70+ maps yet no one knew who he was.  There was a time that he thanked me constantly for introducing him to well-known people.  Now he has had his time to shine, everyone will know his name, and I hope he doesn't forget me LMAO.  Good job to all of you, especially the 3 finalist.   Get ready for Halo fame!

-You guys probably have a bunch of lists of your own from narrowing it down from 103 maps to 3 maps, as you probably split up the work into 3rds or 5ths or 8ths or 10ths and met in the middle or whatever. I think people would be really happy to take a peak at those notes to see how they did. Hats off to you, guys, that was a ton of work. Peace be with yall and Thanks again!

Believe it or not, every map was seen by a group of judges.  We didn't split it up at all.  It required a lot of time and energy and devotion to the community.  Honestly though there is no way we could put all those in a ranked list nor would we want anyone to be at the bottom.

  2. Another great wrap up Drizzy!  Yes guys sadly enough I am taking a few weeks off of CGN.  It's the first break in the 3 years that I have hosted it.  But it will be back!  My first lobby will be underground and only solid supporters will get an invite.  After that they will continue being posted on Halocustoms each week with SolidSnakee doing the recaps.  I look forward to shooting you all in the face again soon.

  3. DLC has never been much hipe for me.  I play with big groups and there is always that one spartan who doesn't have the DLC.  It's not like I am gong to boot them because of it, so I don't really get to play the new maps that often.  I probably would not have purchased them except the fact that I had them included with what I prepaid for.  I feel like it's dumping more money into something, that has not been properly fixed yet, after several months post release.

  4. Just wanted to point out some key factors that struck me in this awesome interview:

"First of all, Forge is a product of customs, not the other way around. That means that no matter how big forging is, it's only useful if there are people playing that map!"  Guys this is so true and wisely said from Insane54.  No matter how good of a forger you are, you'll never get noticed without a lobby to showcase it.

"It all comes full circle, and we're really big about being a *companion* site. I absolutely don't want to steal a single member from another site, I just want to offer a resource to as many Halo fans as possible. So, test your map on our site, use our resource, and stay active on your own site -- that's exactly what I hope people do.'
For all of you who keep sending me messages of "I don't join other sites" or "I am loyal to 343I.org", this is what I have been repeating back to you.  It is using a great asset to our advantage.  The site at Halocustoms is amazing, use it.

"I really like the RSVP system because you can go to any game and go "this game has 20 RSVPs, it's probably going to be packed" or "this game only has 5 RSVPs? I should tell my friends!"  This system that Insane has created is not only ground breaking but has made it so much better for those, me, to host lobbys efficiently.

That said, I'm always open to partnering with websites and communities! I feel like by bringing together many communities by partnership, that means that we get to throw activity to our partners, and they get to tell their members 'hey come here to set up custom games!'. By doing that, it reduces their own requirement to organize custom games (let's be honest, forum boards or threads doesn't really work) and delegates it to us -- and we're more than happy to be that resource! In addition, the more places that partner with us, the more we bring communities with different traits together on our interface!" Finally the biggest reason I wanted Insane to meet Dog and create this partnership.  They are both about the Halo community and that is a vital ingredient to me.  I trust and respect both of these guys for there long hard hours they put in to make your Halo experience better.

This is an absolutely amazing interview!  Huge thanks to Drizzy Dan and Insane 54 for giving the 343Industries forum an inside look on what I have been ranting and raving about.
