I thought it looked similar to longshore too Krinn, but I doubt it is. I don't remember that map being popular enough to remake.

Great read. I'm both surprised and not surprised to hear the covenant will be returning. My guess is they will have a very minor role, something like rogue groups are trying to find stuff or maybe they will give you some support on certain missions. I'm guessing that they "wow" stuff for guns is pretty much seeing the vast majority of covenant weapons remade in forerunner or human forms, seeing something "old" become new again kinda. I'm also wondering if they scrapped the sword and hammer based off the answer to the grifball question. Based off how I read the response it seems like they could have said "technically it's possible to play it, but not how everyone plays it now." I'm glad they somewhat touched on the armor perk situation. I guess we will just have to wait and see what actually happens there though.

It was a good teaser to get people talking, that's for sure.

I may be horribly wrong here, but how much more can graphics really improve on the 360? It is a....what...6 year old system? Here has always been my (and many others) thought process on this issue. Casual players can have fun competitive maps and make change them around easily to enjoy them. Meanwhile, a "casual" map may be near impossible to balance competitively or even have a competitive match on them. I personally feel as though the perk system is meant to be something to please the "casual" crowd more than the hardcore, unless they're actually balanced then they could please both. I'm not a technical guy like yourself, but I don't see the harm with these two. I think the animations look fine. The little clip they had of the warthog all messed up looked great to me also. The game is still far off and everything can still be tweaked. We didn't see enough of the maps to even jump to this conclusion. I can't think of a map warehouse (or whatever) could have been inspired by and wraparound could arguably be inspired by derelict or any other arena type map, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. This is so incredibly minor of a change I don't see how it would really affect anyone... I personally would rather move faster than slower. Besides, none of us have played it so we really don't know how it handles. There must be some sort of reason to bring both back. Maybe perhaps the BR sucks at long range battles and the DMR can't hope to win a short-mid range battle. And the brute shot/nade launcher thing doesn't make sense to me, those two weapons are really unique from each other. The spartan models used in each Halo game multiplayer have been different for each game if I remember right. And I'm guessing that the RvB story will either be something you can read about if you want or unfold in the campaign, I doubt they'll cram it down our throats each time we want to play. A lot of these points seem rather minor to me and wouldn't warrant writing the game off at this point considering we have very little information and some very short clips to base anything on.

Halo 4 Multiplayer - Implementing more tactical vehicle use
TerribleTimbo replied to Will Troll's topic in Halo 4
Aircraft passenger seats were most likely taken out because it was so hard to kill one of the passengers. Typically land vehicle passengers can easily get shot at from any angle, but aircraft can be positioned in such a way where you can't hit them. I highly doubt 343 would scrap the idea of vehicles being used as a way to transport the objective guy, but I wouldn't get too high of hopes for passenger seats for aircraft. -
I agree. One thing that makes halo halo is that everyone starts off on the same playing field in terms of what they have at their disposal. As for the actual topic, we know and have seen way to little be able to start saying what they should/shouldn't change/add.
-
I'd say it's pretty obvious whether or not a teammate accidentally shot you.

I couldn't help but facepalm when the guy said that halo is going to have a point type scoring similar to COD....literally every fps ever has had point scoring haha. And as mystic has said, if in fact armor abilities like we know them return (hasn't been confirmed outside of sprint) they may not operate the same way and could have actually undergone changes for the better. Plus, based off of the ridiculously short and jumbled up gameplay clips, I didn't really notice a huge change in speed when the player was sprinting. I'm almost thinking that it may just be a type of animation that goes into affect when moving straight and not making a sharp turn that would "break" someones run. I also don't recall ever seeing someone else sprint in the video but I may be wrong.
-
Chasing after someone to get a kill is probably one of the worse decisions someone can make. Yeah it's annoying that someone got away and is still alive, but there is so much uncertainty right around that corner. Sprint gives people the ability to live when they shouldn't have, which can be both good and bad.
-
Just the fact that they are making maps with competitive gameplay in mind something to be glad about.
-
Maybe they are trying to tease a new kind of way to take photos? Something like "focus on 'x'" and everything else will become unfocused.

Should Armor in Halo 4 Have an Affect on Gameplay?
TerribleTimbo replied to Baby Boo's topic in Halo 4
If there is a "faster melee speed" perk for an armor, something else would have to be incredibly super for that not to be the one that everyone chooses. I just hope nothing cripples the game and there is actually good uses for each perk so there isn't one everyone chooses (like the melee one I just thought up). *Edit I still think armor affecting gameplay is a bad idea, but the vidoc sure made it seem like it will have an affect. -
A 5 shot kill pistol with somewhat crappy zoom (anything longer than mid range is flat out not in range for it) would be good in my mind. Is there a good shot of the pistol from the reveal trailer to compare it with? Because that one shot an explosive if I'm not mistaken.

They are just concept art. As for which halo they were concept art for, who knows.

Neat little feature if it is in but nothing to cry about if it doesn't make the cut.

Should 343 bring back maps from past Halos?
TerribleTimbo replied to Archangel Tyrael's topic in Halo 4
They should bring back a few (maybe one small, medium, and large map) but I'd like to see what kind of maps they can make from scratch. I have hope that they will bump up the qaulity of maps back to where it was in halo 1/2.- 12 replies

I'm doing my best to try to remember if ammo boxes were in halo 2's multiplayer or not....I'm like 50-50 trying to remember. I know there were ammo boxes on halo 1 because they were in the front of each base on Blood Gulch in the little rock formation...but I can't recall if they were there for halo 2. Anywho, they are not a significant aspect of the game to determine whether halo 4 is a sucess or not. With the ability to tweak maps via forge you can now adjust weapon placement and timers to make the map as balanced/unbalanced as you see fit. I know these changes wouldn't affect maps in matchmaking but for some reason I feel as though 343 will be pretty on top of things when it comes to "fixing" maps that are clearly not balanced.

As biggles said it looks (and most likely is better) driving in 3rd person for Halo. Though I would like to see first person views return for passengers, dunno why they decided to make them 3rd person too after halo 1.
-
Though I do like being able to damage buildings/terrian (I think you can damage terrain anyway...) I don't like the idea of it being in multiplayer for halo. A few examples of why I would not like it: Someone blasts a trench through the middle of the map that vehicles can't cross (even though I'm hardly ever in them, this would be annoying) Collapsing the ceiling of a base onto the flag/objective to make it ungrabbable/unscorable Destroying the terrain in such a way that a weapon/vehicle can't be accessed Creating random holes everywhere for people to hide in There is probably other ways I'd dislike it but I'm too braindead right now to think of them.

Should Armor in Halo 4 Have an Affect on Gameplay?
TerribleTimbo replied to Baby Boo's topic in Halo 4
Armor should have asthetic purposes only. -
Too many trees would make it a little too frustrating to play on since it would be too hard to finish people off. Also the map couldn't be flat, there has to be elevation changes. And lastly, don't make it foggy like backwash (someone mentioned that but I'm too lazy to quote right now). Backwash could have been a decent map without the fog.
-
I would like having actual skill ranks back, but a leaderboard isn't important to me. As for clans, they were essentially just a second friends list. But then again clan playlists were cool in the sense that you would never really play against people that didn't normally play together, and that alone would already make the games more interesting than social playlists.
-
The only problem I see with uping the limit of players in game to something like 16v16 is the map size. A map required to hold that many people would practically be unplayable if you weren't extremely close to the player limit.
-
Umm....huh? haha And halo should stay first person and only go third person when driving vehicles or being on/holding a turret. Speaking of first person, they should change back the passenger view in the warthog to be first person like in halo 1.
