I've said many times that the Halo Reach bloom causes too many shot inconsistencies. If my reticle is red then my shot should count where I am aiming. Accurate aim should be rewarded with the kill. Bloom just leaves it to chance because you don't know if you'll get the kill or not on what should be the last shot. And since this is the case, then what is the point of the reticle turning red if it actually doesn't indicate if you'll get the hit or not? The Halo Reach bloom defeats that whole purpose of the red reticle. I'm glad they're getting rid of this type of bloom for Halo 4. Next I hope they can balance the armor abilities.

I was never a fan of the reach voting system. People changing their vote, votes divided up between too many choices, etc. And if it was a tie in votes then the top one gets the choice so if an entire team voted for the top one they win by default. I'm not a fan of that. I liked Halo 3's veto system a lot better.

Equipment all day. I would rather have players pick up equipment that spawns in a certain amount of time than for someone to have abilities at their disposal at all times. When it's equipment, you only have one, so you have to know when and where to use it. And at least with the bubble shield and shield regen they weren't completely invulnverable and could still be killed so it wasn't a huge advantage.

If someone takes control of a central point of map control then they should be rewarded with that area until they are killed, in which the next person would take control. This leads to some epic battles and a lot of fun. If someone has a jet pack to just thrust up and flank a guy that's a one shot, then what fun is that? The jetpack takes away from the game.

As long as they keep the classic helmets then I look forward to any new helmets 343 might have!

Looks great! Glad I pre-ordered the limited edition!

The BR is one of the best and most popular weapons in gaming history. That 3 shot burst is unmistakable to spot or hear. Anybody who wasn't there since Halo 2 and Halo 3 wouldn't understand and those people missed out. The DMR being that good or popular?... not so much. Especially with it's bloom, which just makes it inconsistent. Without the DMR's bloom (or at least reduced greatly) it's not a half bad weapon, but I'll take the BR any day.

My favorite was the Burial Mounds bounce to get to the "Stairway to Heaven." I loved them all though.

The more customization the better! Everybody's spartan should be unique and completely their own!

Ryu we've discussed this but that system you mentioned on your first post of the thread would be the best thing. And congrats on your 500th post bro. As far as my opinion on ranks, Halo 2 and Halo 3's multiplayer kept players coming back for more because ranks give them something to strive for. I'm guessing this is why Reach had great sales but lower matchmaking numbers. A lot of players on Reach don't care about winning or losing, which isn't good for the rest of us that actually do. The playlist ranks make games more fun and competitive, especially on those 49-49 score moments when competitiveness REALLY goes up a notch. Also, why would they have the ranks hidden? I wanna be able to show mine if I work for it.

I have no preference on a 5 shot or 4 shot. As long as the BR is back, then that's just awesome. One shot really won't make that much of a difference in battling.

There's a difference between shot spamming and shooting accurately. If I aim my shots accurately I should be rewarded with the kill, not more shots to fire. That's the way Halo has always been and I'm sure that's why 343 is fixing the bloom to reset faster in Halo 4, so that it won't affect gameplay like that anymore. If every single person had to wait for the bloom to reset battles would be slower and tedious. But hardly anybody does because there's a better chance of someone shooting faster and taking their chances on getting a headshot at the end. And that's why it's terrible for Halo, bloom is all about chance. Even though I should be rewarded with the kill for aiming accurately and steady sometimes that won't determine whether I get that kill. I've never heard of Bungie or 343 saying that about making it realistic. In fact, 343 added Zero Bloom to the playlists because bloom was disliked by so many. If I wanted a more realistic shooting experience I would play video games that emphasize military perspectives or I would go to my nearest shooting range.

I said yes but I'm really thinking "I really hope so."

Bloom was one of the worst changes made to the Halo franchise. With the DMR bloom on Reach there are too many shot inconsistencies.

I'm not naming any names but on halotracker.com I've checked the Halo Reach stats of a couple of people that say the Halo 2/Halo 3 systems aren't what we need and their levels/stats tell the whole story. These people don't want a competitive ranking system because they don't care about winning or being good. The Halo Reach system has always obviously been for the people who don't want to be leveled upon their skill or by winning. The people who never played Halo 2 or Halo 3 enough to be competitive will never understand why Halo multiplayer has thrived throughout both games. Halo Reach's matchmaking population numbers have went down significantly from Halo 3 and it's for a reason. I'm not saying 343 should do away with a credit system (I actually like earning customizations based on credits) but the lack of competitive playlist ranks has killed the matchmaking population. Halo multiplayer has come this far because a good ranking system brings out the best competition and gives people something to strive for. It makes people want to get better and keep playing. It doesn't make or break a game but it definitely makes things interesting and competitive.

Elites Shouldn't Be in MM: Here's Why (serious discussion)

I didn't play against elites in Halo Reach. No elites in matchmaking. -

As long as they had a head that sticks up and out, but then that would take away from the Elite experience I guess. -
That's just my guess that it's a competitive game. It wouldn't be Halo if it wasn't. A lot of the MLG players loved it with Naded even answering to Tsquared "Halo is back."

I'm sure it will be announced at some point. He probably just meant it hasn't been announced "yet," and worded it differently. Without Halo there would be no MLG today, period. It's too good of a competitive game and too popular of a franchise for them to pass up anyway.

I like the new menu! I think the idea for a good menu is to keep it simple while still giving everybody tons of options within each category.

Sometimes statistics don't tell the whole story either, if that's what you're saying. There have been plenty of times where I went 15+ K/D and still lose, so I definitely get what you're saying. But you also have to have map knowledge, teamwork, and other intangibles that can't be measured by statistics. It works both ways. Halo 2's ranking system was the best in my opinion. It was challenging and 9 times out of 10 it really did show somebody's true skill. My only question is, will there be ranks for each playlist???

Oh my goodness. That is NASTY!

What Zuko said. If 343 is putting emphasis on this "elite supersoldier experience" I don't think a little fall would hurt anybody.

Elites Shouldn't Be in MM: Here's Why (serious discussion)
upton889 replied to SatanicBagels's topic in Halo 4
Like i said, it was never a problem, but it was just... different. They may have the same hit boxes but an elites head is lower to his body. There's no protrusion unless you're looking from the side. You're never 100% sure if you're hitting the head or the body in a face to face battle. -
I completely agree with you sir. Well said. A ranking system doesn't define a game or make it competitive but it gives people something to strive for. I try to win every time, regardless, but it's a fun objective to try to go for your highest rank. It's awesome to finally achieve that high rank that you've had your eye on. That's what made Halo 2 and 3 matchmaking so great and kept people playing. It gives people a goal and unlike anything Halo Reach can offer. It gives those epic "49-49 score" moments and makes things interesting and competitive.
