  1. Definitely bring dual-wielding back. Dual-wielding added an element to the games that gave players an opportunity to be creative.
  2. The OP's post proves that both sides can be satisified. This actually reminds me a lot of the Halo 3 system with the levels/XP combination, which I liked. The leveling system reminds me of the Halo 2 system where it was a "3 win go up/3 loss go down" type of system (yours is different of course). I like your ideas. I recommend you post this in the official 343 forums where this will have a higher chance of being seen by 343.
  3. I completely agree with Beckoningzebra1. 343 needs to fulfill the needs of casual players and competitive players by separating the playlists and making two separate entities of play in one game. They could easily do this. In my opinion, Halo Reach was the worst thing for Halo multiplayer. You can still see the skill gap in Halo 4, but not like it used to be in Halo 2 and 3, when every game, especially in the higher ranks, was filled with excitement and competitive spirit, which really made those "down to the wire" moments even more special.
  4. No need to worry. I heard rumors months ago that the next gen games for Xbox One were going to be $100 (I was immediately skeptical), but the price will still be $60 for standard edition games.
  5. I agree with you that Doubles should be a competitive playlist. It absolutely should be. On the power weapon subject: If the power weapons spawn to quickly, and there are too many of them, the result is the power weapons taking up way more kills in the game than a power weapon should. In my opinion, teams should battle for the power weapons, not spawn with one of their own. When there are too many power weapons it takes some of the competitiveness out of the game and those people that don't even have the skill to shoot with a primary weapon (BR, DMR, etc.) are now easily getting kills. There's no battling with someone who has rockets, incineration cannon, etc. The quick spawning of the weapons usually leads to each team having a power weapon at all times (or even worse, one team having multiple power weapons), which, again, takes away from the primary weapon battles that most of us like to engage in.
  6. My thing with doubles is this: Most of the time with doubles there are two power weapons (too many), one on each side of the map, and these weapons respawn too quickly. From what I've seen this has really minimized battling and the utilization of teamwork. If 343 would put one power weapon in the middle of each map and be more strict on the respawn time, doubles would be a much better gametype.
  7. Halo 4 definitely would've been better off with a beta but that ship has sailed. 343 seems to listen to the community so hopefully they will release a beta for Halo 5 and get the feedback they need.
  8. I really, really enjoy ricochet. It's almost like Halo lacrosse/football/basketball. That gametype could easily be the new grifball.
  9. I usually teabag if an opponent teabags me first or if I kill my teammate after the game ends.
  10. 1, 2, 3, 7, and 11. A lot of times I'll combine 2 and 11 by killing my teammates and then teabagging them lol
  11. Well said Victory. I don't think the Join In Progress is an absolutely terrible feature. Sometimes it does serve its purpose but overall I think it causes more unnecessary losses than wins for the people that unknowingly and unwillingly get placed in a match.
  12. I agree with some of your points. The AR may need to be tuned down a bit, and maybe a slight modification here and there with some other weapons, but one of the biggest changes I hope 343 decides to make is the removal of the boltshot (or at least from the secondary weapon slot). A one-shot kill weapon has no place in the secondary weapon slot. Halo 5 definitely needs a place in MLG and if MLG was smart they would've already picked up Halo 4. In my opinion, I think it's only a matter of time until the Halo franchise is picked back up, especially if there is a population surge with Halo 5. The ranking system definitely needs to be as competitive as possible. I personally liked the Halo 3 approach with the ranked and social playlists, but overall, my favorite ranking system is Halo 2's by far. Halo 2's ranking system was difficult and competitive, and because of this, most of the time, a player's rank was the best indicator of a player's skill (if you faced a 40 you KNEW the challenge you were about to face). Additionally the symbols were really cool as well (the colored areas around numbers 1-43, half-moon, halo, etc.) Armor abilities nor sprint significantly affects my experience of Halo 4 so I don't see a whole lot wrong with those. 343 has answered the call on making smaller, more balanced maps for everybody, which is just what Halo 4 needed. If the maps are balanced the gameplay is usually smooth.
  13. If the rate of fire were slightly nerfed on the beam rifle and balanced with the human sniper I don't see why it couldn't be a loadout weapon, similar to the way the weapons were balanced for Halo 2 and 3.
  14. Well said. I enjoy the fact that you posted a well-thought out idea on the pros and cons as well as your recommendations. It's nice to see someone create a post that isn't simply someone going on a hate tangent. You should post this in the official Halo Waypoint forums. I agree with all of your post. I'm glad right now that Halo 4 even has a ranking system but it can be improved with the ideas you present. And you're right, guests have no place in ranked matches since they aren't earning rank anyway. For all we know a Halo pro could be somebody's guest just boosting the main account's rank. I hope the ranking system will one day be visible in game but for now I'm just glad that one exists. Maybe in Halo 5...
  15. I agree with Kasper. I find myself constantly getting shot by (or shooting at somebody with) 2 or 3 different teams at the same time. The number of different teams is way too high and competition is in a constant state of crowding. 4 teams of 2 is plenty to have a high paced game.
  16. Sometimes when I get in a battle I switch my fingers up and play using "claw." Walshy was the first one to utilize it from what I remember. It took a while to get used to, but it combines the best of all worlds. No sacrificing of anything.
  17. I agree that if you pick your own team you will be more likely to have mics. But if you're going in by yourself or don't have the opportunity to play with a full team, the random teammates you get will probably not have mics. Back in Halo 2 and 3, nearly EVERYBODY had mics because there was more incentive to win and because of the overall competitiveness of those games.
  18. Halo Reach is where you saw your population take a drastic dropoff. Almost everything in Halo Reach was executed to mediocrity, including the lack of a playlist ranking system. If I had to take my pick, I would love to have visible ranks make a come back, and maybe they will eventually, but the CSR is better than nothing. When Halo 4 released nobody even knew if they would be having a ranking system.
  19. I have to agree with TornadoFlame. Halo Reach made everybody stray away from mics. Hardly any calling out or communicating because there was no more incentive to win. I still enjoy Halo but that is one thing that has changed and Reach had a part in that. Hopefully the new CSR ranking system will help that a little.
  20. Halo 4 is a great game and don't let anyone tell you different. Welcome! (Cue music: "A Whole New World," from the Aladdin soundtrack)
  21. I agree with SGT. Duke's post. Nearly everything about Halo 4 is better than Halo Reach. I also enjoy the effort from 343 to build exciting maps that have a variety of color schemes. Reach had the same blue-grey over and over and some of the maps weren't well thought out whatsoever.
  22. I certainly hope it is a great game. Destiny looks promising so far. I just hope they don't take the Halo Reach route and make a multiplayer that wasn't well thought out. If Bungie takes the time to make a great multiplayer like they have in the past, then Destiny will be a huge success.
  23. There are perks to both games. I love the graphics and smoother gameplay of Halo 4, and also the customization options, but Halo 3's multiplayer was completely polished, which is not to take anything away from Halo 4's multiplayer, which is completely awesome and I enjoy it thoroughly. All in all, I don't know if one is better than the other. The two games are just different but equally awesome.
  24. That's awesome! That indicator always meant a lot to Halo. I would always be in situations where I would die and tell my teammates "He's on my X! Oh... never mind." Lol Sounds like those days are over.
  25. Halo 4 needs a true FFA playlist. Not Regicide, but Lone Wolves or whatever you would like to name it. Regicide should be included in an FFA playlist but not in a playlist by itself. But 343 is finalizing an FFA playlist as we speak.
