  1. Did I not say, "I'm not comparing Halo to college athletics, the workplace, or the military, but the concepts of rank in all those examples are essentially the same."? Even though I was only comparing the importance and concept of rank between examples, Halo is a sport like anything else. If you don't believe me, here is the merriam webster definition for sport: 1. sport (noun): a source of diversion: recreation Halo is indeed a sport and almost every single person uses the game for recreation and a source of diversion, just like any other sport.
  2. 343 has indicated that the ranks will be for "competitive playlists" so I'm guessing there will be some sort of playlist separation, but they might not be called exactly social/ranked. I will be so glad when the ranking system comes out. Thank you for the exact date on that, ProudDrunkIrish! Are you for sure on that date?
  3. I haven't seen anything as of the last Halo bulletin but I really hope they will. Team Slayer Pro was the closest thing to this and 343 took it out.
  4. This has been one of many questions that people have asked (myself included). 343 could perform these fixes so easily but it hasn't been done and nobody knows why. Team Doubles and Team Snipers are also some gametypes that could easily be implemented.
  5. If you do not understand the significance of ranks you will never understand the importance of the ranking system. Halo 2 was the prime of matchmaking ranks and Halo 3 had a large amount of success with it as well. As for your argument to "trueskill isn't supposed to be visible," then why would Bungie and 343 make it visible? (Ranking system soon to be visible in Waypoint) I'm not seeing any basis for that statement of yours. If ranking isn't important for knowing where someone stands, or isn't something to work for, then why would they have rankings in college football, the military, college basketball, etc.? Those rankings are to show where one team/person stands among the rest and rankings are important to many other subjects other than those I just listed. Do college teams strive for a top 25 rank or even a #1 rank? Of course they do and the same goes for people striving to go up the totem pole in workplaces and the military. I'm not comparing Halo to college athletics, the workplace, or the military, but the concepts of rank in all those examples are essentially the same. To say rank isn't important to Halo or isn't important for the motivation to become better, is a lie.
  6. I would like to see double XP weekend to come back but 343 needs to implement more SR ranks first, so that everybody has some incentive to play.
  7. This video represents every reason why casual and competitive players need to be separated through ranked and social playlists. This needs to happen so that the worst end of the casual fanbase, such as these players, won't spoil the fun for the rest of us. Aside from that, you had a great game. It's a travesty that you couldn't get the win.
  8. My wish list for the update: 1. Nerf the Boltshot or if it stays the same, remove it from the secondary weapons options. 2. Unveil the ranking system/Separate Ranked and Social playlists 3. Implement the playlists of Team Snipers, Team Doubles, MLG There goes most of the problems just in those 3 things.
  9. Yet another reason 343 needs to implement the competitive skill ranking ASAP. Halo should have overall ranks (5-star general, Hero, etc.) as well as playlist ranks like Halo 3 did, to give that variety of motivation. There is no reason why 343 can't do this.
  10. I would like to know where you are getting all of these 90% statistics. Anybody can make up a number and I would suggest that you do some research and come up with some concrete evidence before you start pulling numbers out of thin air. Reach was a failure. If you want to look at stats, just look at the number of people who played Reach years after its release, compared to those who played Halo 2 and Halo 3, years after their releases. It's not even a comparison. Reach was a massive failure and that is indicated by the massive decline in player population throughout its tenure, which drove away a large portion of the matchmaking population. Reach lacked competitive gameplay and a competitive ranking system. Coincidence between that and the population decline? I think not. If Reach and its Arena playlist was such a success, as you indicate, then more people would have wanted to play it. Obviously this was not the case.
  11. Team Regicide needs to stay but it doesn't deserve its own playlist. I really enjoy Team Regicide but It belongs in a Team Objective playlist or something similar to that.
  12. Congratulations! I want a quilt please!
  13. All the above, LIKE A BOSS! I prefer to outgun my opponents in battle so sniping and DMR would have to be my favorites.
  14. Reach Arena was a massive failure. That is why nobody plays it. It has been discussed on these forums many times and almost anybody that played Reach will tell you the same. If you didn't play Halo 2 you won't understand the significance of the relationship between Halo and MLG. In Halo 2 the game was more competitive and more people strived to be a high rank and/or attain MLG status. Playing with pros in Halo 2 was always something to brag about. Halo brought life to MLG and MLG added players to the Halo fanbase in both, in Halo 2 and Halo 3. It wasn't vital to Halo's success but to say it destroyed Halo is just false. Because Reach lost Halo's competitive gameplay, it got removed from the pro circuit, and consequently caused a decline in MLG's popularity.
  15. It may be. Is the FCAT for admission to healthcare schools or anything? The PCAT is the Pharmacy College Admission test and has been around since the 70's I think. Kind of like the MCAT, the one all doctors take.
  16. That is pretty surprising. Halo 4 has some of the best sound out on console games. I would expect the sound of enemies sneaking up behind you and the sound of gun shots would give away the positions of some enemies. It's been a while since I've listened to music and played. My preference is usually some Asking Alexandria or August Burns Red. Maybe even a little Waka Flocka
  17. It is a remake of Valhalla and is a simple fun map that plays well. Not a whole lot to vote against.
  18. Currently an SR-45 but I plan on playing more once I take the PCAT in a few days. I want the venator helmet BAD!
  19. Competitive gamers built the house of MLG which exploded in Halo 2. Aside from that, 343 should accommodate both parties of players and there is no reason why they can't do this.
  20. If you think team slayer is only about mindless killing, you are sorely mistaken. CTF, dominion, etc. are just different, not necessarily more skill-requiring than team slayer. I never played slayer pro that much even though I do consider myself competitive. If 343 is going to take out team slayer pro then they should implement an MLG playlist (which I'm still waiting for) in its place.
  21. I don't think regicide is a terrible playlist but I definitely don't think it's worthy of having its own playlist. 343 should implement lone wolves and include regicide in the playlist, but only in small quantities, which 343 should have done from the beginning.
  22. Halo 4 has taken many steps up from Halo Reach. Even though Halo 4 has much room for improvement, I now have a Halo that I actually look forward to playing.
  23. I had the same problem and my NAT always claimed to be open, yet I was not able to join, until I opened ports. Google search: port forwarding for Xbox Live. It helped me out and now I can join anybody.
  24. The killcams need a lot of work. I'm sure this is one of the issues 343 is working on.
