Internet brand-protection company MarkMonitor — the company often used by Microsoft to register domains — has registered a number of "Halo: Infinity"-related names, leading to speculation over Microsoft's next steps for the Halo franchise.
Could this be a clue as to Microsoft's plans for future Halo games? Perhaps. Among the registered domains is HaloInfinityMultiplayer.com, which could hint at features similar to those found in predecessors. It's also possible that the Halo: Infinity sites may simply point to a release of an updated version of that Halo: Combat Evolved PC-exclusive map for Halo: Reach or possibly even just as part of a promotion for Halo 4, which is currently in development. It's worth noting, though, that the other domains privately registered this week include Morethanjustamap.com, as well as spartanops.com.
While it's not been 100% confirmed that Microsoft is the driving force behind the Halo: Infinity domain registrations — the buyer is hidden from public view at the moment — Microsoft's own Microsoft.com domain is registered through MarkMonitor.
