  1. from what we know so far, and from bungie's reputation, it is likely to be nothing short of stellar. But since we have not seen any gameplay at this point, i dont think that this is a proper time to be judging it
  2. Um... that whole plot is literally what happened in halo 4
  3. I do agree that they need firefight back. I just think it needs to be more challenging and suspenseful if it returns. I don't want to lose Spartan ops though..... It would be a real treat to have both
  4. If he does return, he's gonna be pretty aged
  5. I've actually thought about that EMP idea before, and I would really like to see that one in action. I also think the flare would be very cool. They have piece of equipment that brutes often carried in halo 3, but I would like to see it as an armor ability
  6. The only time that I think this could be useful would for defending objectives. It could easily prevent opponents from grabbing a flag or the oddball, but I don't see any usefulness in slayer gametypes
  7. Ummmm, i'm not sure that the flood would infect a promethean, considering its inorganic. But I wonder how the freeze gun would influence the gameplay....
  8. I have not been able to read silentium yet, so that seems to be my issue. I have read previous 2 books though, and I only tried to connect the dots from the information in those 2 books. I've had those theories in my head for a while now, but I was unaware that silentium was released. Sorry for the misunderstanding
  9. i really appreciate all of the work that you put into making this thread. but i do have some disagreements with some of your theories ad such. First of all, i dont think the forerunners rebelled because they realized that they werent meant to inherit the mantle. The precursors originally held the mantle, and they would not have had to pass it down, unless they became endangered. My theory goes that the precursors had originally evolved from the smaller forms of the flood. They had infected all of the life in a previous galaxy, so they began to evolve into an independent species. They developed their own technology and an entire society. At some point, they decided to try to restore the life that was once in the galaxy, considering they no longer needed hosts to survive. So they created the forerunners, humans, etc. At this point, we do not know what sparked the forerunner-precursor war, and that has been the missing piece of the puzzle. But i believe that the forerunners eventually discovered the origins of their creators, and that horrific idea caused them to rebel. after the rebellion, the precursors decided that humanity was meant to inherit the mantle, because they did not threaten the lives of the precursors. the second idea that i do not agree with is that the precursors turned themselves into powder to seek revenge on the forerunners. If they tried to turn themselves into powder, why wouldnt the human animals have turned into precusors?? I believe that they created the powder in order to preserve their species within the galaxy, so they wouldnt go extinct. In unison with my evolution theory, they planned to have themselves evolve from their original flood forms as they once did before. Well that didnt happen, but they have more of a purpose that to prevent extinction. The precursors orginally possessed the mantle, correct? the Timeless One also stated that the humans would be "tested by floods" to see if they were worthy to inherit the mantle. If hmanity showed that they could defeat the original keepers of the mantle, that would show that they are worthy of posessing it. If they could not defeat the flood, then the flood would have just reclaimed the mantle and evovled into a state of precursors again. I hope that was simple enough to understand
  10. if there is a guass hog, it should not spawn right on top of one team's base. That gives a completely unfiar advantage, and i think it should be battled for in the middle of the map
  11. i think these ideas belong in the forge section, considering none of them have to do with matchmaking
  12. there is no good puropse for personal ordinance if you want it to run of of kill streaks. Some players may struggle in a game, and if they just arent capable of obtaining any ordinance, how are they supposed to aid their team in any way? i know this may take away some of the competitive elements of the game, but 343i is trying to give everyone a fair advantage. As someone said above, it would just end up like CoD. Some players would start off with a good 5 kills, get a power weapon, get another 5 kills, and not give the enemy team a chance at all. This would also promote camping, which is a problem that we do not want to come to halo. I can understand trying to boost competitiveness, but not everyone wants to play halo for competition. I do think the negatives outweigh the positives in this situation, and it will only end up mirroring the systsme that Cod already has in place
  13. well, considering most of us are not trying to save humanity from a menacing alien alliance..... i'm not really sure what half of you guys would do if you got the stuff that you asked for but for me, i'd like a personal forge monitor. Just in case i ever get that urge to build a floating fortress, or spawn a few tanks in the backyard.... no big deal
  14. there are so many people that i could thank, but it think the community as a whole deserves much appreciation I also want to thank 343 industries. It took a lot of effort for them to continue the halo series, and i am glad they did. Halo 4 was a great learning exerience for them, and we have seen the potential that they hold. they are also the reason that we are all here together at this very moment. Mods, you are all so dedicated and use so much of your peronal time to make the community into a better place. Its a shame that you guys dont get paid for this spades, you put in as much work as the mods do throughout your days, and i greatly appreciate that. I also owe a few thank yous to some lesser known members that may not get much recognition: Sweaty Bagels, Wonder Wombat, Ryu Hayabusa, Sternus, and Sierra 1117. You guys have honestly kept me returning to the forums constantly. The discussions that we have had in the forums are extremely memorable. Even though we may not always agree, your maturity makes the discussions very enjoyable. im sorry if i have neglected to thank someone here, but there is just so much to recognize, that i may have overlooked your name in my head
  15. good find! i honestly cannot wait for this game
  16. um... anyone else notice that the grunt has active camo in the background....?
  17. i 100% agree with the OP. Many people neglect to notice the soundtrack, but it is one of the most important aspects of the game. People dont realize how much background music can spychologically influence you and stimulate your emotions.
  18. would you rather have me dig through the book and try to quote it directly?? aint nobody got time for that
  19. here is some information that i am quoting from halopedia. This first part is about the relationship of the flood to the precursors: "During this time period, Mendicant Bias conversed with the Primordial, who in turn explained the purpose of the Flood, the nature of the Mantle, and the eons-long plan of the Precursors. During the course of this conversation, it soon became clear that the Primordial was in actuality a Gravemind, a physical embodiment of the Flood's collective consciousness. Mendicant Bias was eventually persuaded by the Primordial/Gravemind's arguments, and deliberately succumbed to rampancy. The AI then defected to the Flood, and referred to the Gravemind as its master, demonstrating its denial of the Forerunners." in case you were wondering, the Primordial is the last known precursor. the Didact encountered this being several times and he was an improtant role in some of the halo novels. this second quote is about a conversation with the Promordial that was held shortly after the flood was released "When the Flood were first encountered in the Milky Way, several humans questioned the prisoner as to the nature and origin of the "disease". When the prisoner gave them an answer, the humans present were so deeply horrified that many of them committed suicide." I have a hunch that what the humans were told was of the same general idea of my original topic. but, the exact contents of the interrogation are not known
  20. i'm not sure why people are always complaining about these weapons. In the past halo games, the assualt rifle has always been so underpowered and never stood a chance against other weapons. with allowing players to have custom loadouts, 343i had to try to make the weapons as balanced as possible. why have a weapon in the game if it will just get beat every time in an engagement?? That would be pointless. The assualt rifle's weakness is distance, but it makes up for that with dominance at close range. Why do you expect your weapons designed for mid range to beat it in close range situations?? The assualt rifle is a balanced weapon, and when people start using the wrong weapon in the the wrong situation, they complain because they think the game revovles around their feelings. The assualt rifle is for close range, the DMR is for mid/long range. Both have their advantages, but its a matter of being able to recognize their weaknesses as well
  21. who knows.... maybe 343i and Bungie have a secret plan that transitions the end of the halo series to the begining of Destiny....
  22. they did technically "create" the flood, but they are pretty much the same species. Just a different form in their cycle of evolution. I talked about it a bit in my post at the top of this page
  23. personally, i am not pleased with the armor in halo 4. I do like the fact that new pieces need to be unlocked through commendations, and the new options for visor colors, but it still falls short for me To start, many of the armor pieces feel all too similar. I scroll through the armor and each one barely changes from the one before it. The helmets being the exeption, but the shoulder and chest pieces lack much diversity. I really did love the armor customization in halo reach. Each armor piece was distinct and they actually varied immensly, both in sizes and shapes. Also, the spartan was your centerpice in a pregame lobby.... it was your pride and joy. The larger display allowed the comsetic features to get more attention and made customization experience much more enjoyable. In halo 4, all you get is a dinky little box that doesn't show any of the detail that you have worked hard to earn through commendations. Literally, the only noticeable features are helemt, visor, and stance. I hope the customization is amped up a bit for halo 5, but halo 4 did take some important steps such as new stances and visor colors
  24. i think the reason that no ODSTs were on board was because the infinity was sent out for exploration/peace seeking purposes. Yes, they did have a considerable amount of armored personel, but it would be a bit extreme for them to have the hard-nose ODSTs aboard. they are for strategic combat purposes and do not belong on peaceful missions. As for spartan ops, it makes no sense at all as to why the ODSTs are missing. When the infinity returned to requiem for combat purposes, ODSTs would be one of the greatest advantages they could have. since the infinity simply orbited requiem, it could launch ODST pods whenever neccesary to break behind enemy lines on the surface of the planet. even if the UNSC has large amounts of spartan IVs, ODSTs would be extremely effective and spartans could be trained for ODST purposes
