Ok, well I think that I actually figured this out on my own. To start, almost half of my library consists of free mixtapes that I downloaded from soundcloud. So I separated all of those from the iTunes purchased songs because they were already mp3. Then I gave the converter on iTunes another shot, and it seemed to work.... But here is where I get confused....
When I tried to originally drag a playlist from iTunes into the SD card, it would pop up with an error message and it just wouldn't work. When I tried dragging groups of individual songs, they transferred right to the SD card, even the ones that were not in mp3 format! I'm not exactly sure how that appears to work now, but I checked and the musics plays just fine on my phone too.
