  1. E3 last year, was watching the press conference.
  2. I agree with skummgummigubbe (wow is that a weird name to type), go with the gaming PC, it's a better all round product. Besides, who wants to buy a new 360 when sometime in the near future we're going to be getting a whole new xbox?
  3. Like others have said above, I'm just going to reiterate on it. They claimed that elites would not be in multiplayer*. They didn't say "matchmaking", they said multiplayer, and there is a huge difference. I highly doubt that elites are going to be in custom games and forge, but I hope for all of the elite fans that I am wrong. Just don't take what people are saying at 100% face value about this either way, because nobody knows for sure, and I doubt we will until the game is released. *Multiplayer is not strictly matchmaking, and encompasses all forms of multiplayer, including custom games and forge.
  4. But some people don't like repetitive. Something new and fresh every week? Awesome.
  5. Disclaimer: So I'm just going to throw my own two cents into this. This isn't to knock somebody's theory down, or to make somebody feel "stupid" or anything like that, strictly just my opinion based on what I've seen and heard. Personally, I don't feel that the Reach style ranks we've seen in Halo 4 are going to represent the 1-50, and are strictly like the "overall" rank obtained in Halo 3. They will not go down, and I'd wager everything I own that these are the ranks used to determine when you get Spartain Points. We've seen EXP return, and judging from what I've seen it is going to work like Reach's credit system. Wins, Kills, Assists, etc. will all add to EXP, and will improve your overall rank. We haven't seen confirmation of a 1-50 (or similar) system, we've only seen the "A-7" - which could be a similar system. As far as I'm aware (and please, somebody give me a link if I'm wrong), the ranking system has not been confirmed other than "a kind of mix between Reach and Halo 3".
  6. It is spam, it's artifically inflating your post count, and the mods don't take too kindly to that. -.- It's good information, but there's no need to post after pretty much every other person has. If you're adding something more to the topic at hand, fine, but thanking people for posting is not adding anything.
  7. I'm actually in agreeance with you here, if sprint isn't a toggle, then it's useless. I don't know if we've had confirmation about this or not, but I'm crossing my fingers in hopes that it is a toggle. I also want fully customizable controls. On a side note, welcome to the forums! Judging by your post, you're not aware of this (and don't worry, most new members aren't), but we're not the official 343 forums, only a community fan site. If you were wanting to ask 343 directly, you'd be better off joining the Waypoint forums (halo.xbox.com), that is the official source for all things Halo and 343. Over there, you have a better chance of an actual 343 employee seeing this concern. But please, feel free to stick around! We love talking to new members, especially ones that have decent ideas and can put together well thought out topics.
  8. The spikers wrecked vehicles better in Halo 3 than the stickies did, in my opinion. But my personal favorite tactic was to run through a door when I was being chased and putting one on the ceiling just inside the building.
  9. Best comment of the whole video? "Even with the sprint, this is feeling like Halo 3"
  10. There were four grenade types in Halo 3, plus all of the equipment. Frag, Plasma, Spike, Incineration. I would love for them all to be back, but I doubt they will make an appearance. Here's to hoping, though.
  11. Unfortunately there is no current way to change your nameplate on Reach with Bungie.net no longer having control of the Halo franchise. Hopefully 343 will add that feature to Waypoint, but I'm not holding my breath for Reach. Maybe we'll get that feature in Halo 4.
  12. I know exactly which thread you're talking about, I've read through it a few times, and I just did so again. Now, here's the real issue, and it's nobody's fault, it's just human nature. You have your opinion and it's not willing to change, and other people have their opinions, that they aren't willing to change. There were plenty of good points brought up to counter your initial OP in that thread, but you always had a counter, and the counter was the same thing over and over again. This isn't a knock at you, we all do that. It boiled down to the same thing, though. "The more skilled player will perform better, and destroy the less skilled player." This argument is kind of flawed, because that is the truth in every Halo game, regardless of ordinance drops or not. Me and my friends aren't the greatest players in the world, we're decent. And yet, there was one game where we got destroyed 50 - 0 in Halo 3. Obviously, the more skilled players won, and they didn't have ordinance drops to play with either. But that is all beside the point, and is completely off topic of this thread. The OP complains about the sound? Really? He's hearing the sound through who knows how many systems. It was played in Halo 4. It was transfered to Theater, it was saved to the computer, it was edited to show multiple points of view, and then it was reloaded. If they managed to keep the sound perfect through all of that, I'd be highly impressed. Or, you have the other option. It was being played live, somebody was recording it with their phone, and then uploaded. Of course the sound isn't going to be right. This is a pointless thing to complain about without playing the game. If he plays the game, and the sound is still horrible? Then yes, complain, complain, complain. The "new scoring" point is strictly for Infinity Slayer, I believe. Not every playlist (somebody point me to a source, if I'm wrong.) So instead of counting 0 - 50 by incriments of 1, it now counts 0 - 500 in incriments of 10. Still 50 kills. *shrug* I don't see a big deal with this. The names of the weapons on the map. Really? Really? This is a major problem with the game? It's frickin text, honestly. It's "noob friendly" - - I'm pretty sure this benefits all players, not just "noobs". Now, the promethian vision, I can understand this one, it makes sense. It doesn't seem right for Halo. However, I can't judge if it's "bad" or "good" until I've played the game. Edit: Also forgot to mention, this is all his opinion and he's entitled to it. Nothing is forcing him to buy or play the game if he doesn't want too. Now, as for the post above me by P-1609, there's no need for that man. Chill out, he's allowed to voice his opinion if he doesn't like it. No need to get so defensive about a video game.
  13. Hm. A tuck and roll mechanic to prevent some falling damage... interesting, and I'd say that it'd have to be something that needs to be timed perfectly, otherwise it won't work. And for obvious reasons, huge falls (such as from the top of Spire) shouldn't have this affect it in the least, but for smaller falls? Yeah, I could see that.
  14. No, it's 1.7.3, and it was a beta version of the PC game. 1.8.2 will be released later in the year (September/October, from the rumors), and was also a "beta" version on the PC.
  15. But people voicing their concerns and flat out saying the game is going to be terrible are two different things entirely. "I don't know how this is going to work, I'm unsure about it" is one thing. "This is a horrible idea" is something completely different. There is a fine line between being concerned about a feature and downright saying it's going to be horrible, and most of these threads that are popping up are the latter of the two, that's what we're getting frustrated about. While your analogy of the US dollar vs the Euro is a decent one, it's not perfect. As for people voicing their concerns, if they do it in a logical, well thought out way, we as a community are much more inclined to hear what they have to say. If a person is just stating what they hate, and not giving reasons why, we're not going to look at it the same way. As for everybody stating "Wait until you've played it" - That is a valid comment for the OP. With a little less than 4 months until the release, they are not going to make major chances to the core gameplay. Right now they are in bug-fix mode so the game will be released and play as smoothly as possible, so voicing concerns now, while everybody is entitled to do so, won't change the game.
  16. Hello there and welcome to the forums! Hope to see you around, and if you have any questions, feel free to ask. We're all generally helpful around here.
  17. Bad math, Director. O.o; There are 5.3463 Acres in a 232,888 ft sq plot of land.

    Cortana Theory

Why would it kill the game? They are trying to add a deeper, more meaningful storyline into it, and by having a major twist like Cortana turning into the antagonist? That's the perfect way to make the Chief appear more human. He's been with Cortana for so long now, through thick and thin, he's had her help, has rescued her from Gravemind, has grown attached. For him to have to end up killing her? That's pure gold right there.
  19. If a plot of land is 232,888 ft2, then how many acres is it?
  20. The first time this happened to me, I got so utterly confused... I was being assassinated, all of the sudden, I was able to move again, but before I was able to get the 5th shot off with the DMR, it finally killed me.
  21. I like this idea too, and it's something I've been saying since the first Halo 4 ranking threads started popping up. EXP should be awarded and taken away for every action in a game, not just wins and losses. This is spot on, in my opinion, the only thing I'd add (and like somebody else said above), you need to add in stuff for objective type games as well. Edit: Also, to avoid scenario 1 above, you could always switch it around so that kills are worth more than assists. +3 EXP for Kills, -3 EXP for deaths, +1 EXP for assists, +3 EXP for Wheelman assists.
  22. Definitely worth noting, thanks SJ! I won't have any issues, but for all of those who will, this is very helpful.
  23. Oh, Mr. Wise Guy now are we. Okay then. What type of valve, specificially, is it, and what does each number and letter represent? Here it is again: F-14-0-C-A-13-G-C-A-A
  24. Hehehe, nice try, but what type of valves?
  25. If I were to ask you to order me 10 of these, F-14-0-C-A-13-G-C-A-A, what would you be ordering?
