  1. If you're having problems using the sword in Reach, I'm sorry. Personally, I can go on tears with it. While sword blocking does suck, 9 times out of 10 I still get the kill when I'm blocked. And probably half the time I get the kill after I block the sword. But this whole topic is pointless, because they removed sword block from TU Reach, did they not? To me, that seems like 343 has listened to the community, and it isn't something that will be in Halo 4.
  2. If it's tracking your Win/Loss ratio in social, then it's a fail on 343's part. Social is just that, social. You could match up against a brand spanking new recruit, you could match up against a 5 star general, it doesn't matter because the game is just for fun. In a ranked setting, where Win/Loss ratio's should matter, there shouldn't be an option for a Join In Progress just for that reason.
  3. Welcome to the forums! Like everybody else has said, if you have any questions feel free to ask. We're generally a good group, and don't mind helping!
  4. o.o; Isn't the 12th the Absolute Halo Playdate?
  5. Because Bungie.net isn't in control of the file share anymore. 343 is, and their file share system isn't in place yet. If you want it, you're going to have to do a custom search through Reach to find the map.
  6. What's not working for you? Also, I agree, I would like the story to make sense, but in the interest of gameplay, I'll let a few things slide as long as they explain it in more detail why something is the way it is. For example, perhaps you won't run into a DMR in the game until you meet up with the UNSC Infinity? Being a training ship, you'd think they have just about every weapon possible aboard.
  7. Stability is already a bit flimsy on the Warthog! It'd be interesting to see how power sliding would work, though. Hm. That could lead to some fun rolls....
  8. Next time just edit your original post rather than posting 3 times in a row. Mods aren't fond of that. But yeah, it does boil down to ranges. The spread on the BR isn't horrible at mid range, I would wager it's even better at close range but then the player needs to be more accurate, but at long range it'll be too unweildly (the bullet spread), while the DMR is a more precise weapon for the longer distances. Not up to the sniper rifle standards, mind, but more accurate than the BR will be. Now, as for "doesn't make sense being in Halo 4" - - there are a lot of things that don't make sense between all of the games. They do their best, but some things need to be changed, removed, added. All to better the game play.
  9. I do hope you're not laughing at my previous statement, because it's already been stated multiple times by 343 employee's. AR = Close Range, BR = Mid Range, DMR = Long Range. Those are the "prime" locations for use. Now don't get me wrong, I always thought the DMR was upgraded to the BR too. So it confused me as to it's purpose being in the game. The way I would have rather seen it would have been a toggle to go between 3-round bursts and single shots, rather than two seperate weapons.
  10. It's already been confirmed that there will not be dedicated servers for 4. Hopefully they get around to doing it for Halo 5 & 6, but at this rate, I doubt it will ever happen.
  11. Any particular reason why? Sure, the BR is back, but it's already been stated that the BR at long range won't cut it, that's why the DMR is in. So just curious why you won't be using it.
  12. Absolutely not! Like Darkest said, a Halo game with the Chief should be strictly Halo. No other name. Save the names for offshoot games. Halo: Reach? No Chief. Halo 3: ODST? No Chief. Besides, anybody who knows anything about Halo lore should have known what Reach was before buying the game. It was already part of the Haloverse. Requiem, on the other hand.. does it bring a "Halo" feel to it?
  13. I'm actually debating taking the week off... though that screws up with my taking the week of Thanksgiving off.. I dunno yet. If I take the week, I'll most definitely be going to a midnight release.
  14. But when you're shot while sprinting, you will slow down, unlike in Reach. So that kind of balances out the whole sprint + sword = Win.
  15. The only question that remains is how will it be implemented? If it's in a social playlist setting, then I don't have a problem with it at all. I don't personally feel you can do this in a Ranked playlist, or else how would matching up work? I don't want to join a game in progress with one team (as an example) all 25's and the other team be full of 50's. Just wouldn't be fair. Social only? Go for it. Leave it out of any sort of Ranked setting.
  16. The cap is what, 150,000 cR? So yeah, it's possible that you hit the cap for the day. I've yet to do it, so I don't know how accurate it is.
  17. But if it's in a social playlist, does it matter? I am completely for a join in progress system implemented into a social playlist, but I still say Ranked should be the good old stand by of waiting. How else are you going to match up against people appropriately?
  18. I think that was Frank saying that anything after the first season might be paid for. The first season is included with the disc, so how long it may be is unknown at this point. I just hope it's long enough that I won't feel ripped off if I need to pay for subsequent seasons.
  19. I've only ever seen it pop up in multiplayer once, and it was my wife who got it. She was really not pleased. I think my arm is still healing from that one...
  20. There are way to many bands to name... Let's go with my user name, then! Pink Floyd Led Zeppelin The Doors The Who
  21. Well, the plus side is it was confirmed that there will be normal weapon pickups on the maps. Check it out here: http://www.343industries.org/forum/topic/8614-halo-4-questions-on-forgededicated-servers-and-female-spartans-answered/
  22. Edit: Oops. Completely missed the Link at the bottom. My bad.
  23. Fair? Really, we're going to get into the "fair" argument now? Don't get me started on this one. mikeyr, tell me, before the removal of Uncaged and Pinnacle, what maps did you play on the most? I'm assuming it was the two in question, correct? On average, how many votes did they get? I know when I played SWAT and those two maps appeared, it was typically 4, maybe 5 votes. And typically, all of those votes came from one team knowing the spawns on the map favor them. As for them not letting the general SWAT community know, well that's the communities fault, not 343's. They did let people know. If you didn't know about the monthly updates and the announcement a few days prior to it, well then shame on you. Now you do know, and now you'll know to check it out. But no matter how much you argue, complain, revolt, etc. against this decision, 343 doesn't make these changes lightly. There was thought put into it, and not just because a "vocal minority" was listened to. If they took them out, they had a reason for it. Plain and simple. The chances of them coming back are slim to none at this point. If you want something to be done about it, then complain hard and loud over at the Waypoint forums, but don't focus your attention on getting these two maps back, because chances are they won't do it. Focus on getting two (or more) NEW maps added to the game type.
  24. The things you like are all good, other than perhaps the elites. I personally don't care one way or the other about them. As for your unsure of items, let me touch upon a few of those. The Forerunner Vision thing is still an unknown. We've heard it has a fairly short range, and an audible cue to others around you that you are using it. I'm still waiting to see it in gameplay. Ranking system I agree with completely, need something more concrete letting us know, preferably a 1-50 system or something similar. Railgun, well, this is a new weapon that we know very little about. I'll have to wait and see how it works, but if it is a 1 hit kill weapon, then perhaps they need to make it have an extremely small clip (1 shot, maybe 2 at most). My guess is it is going to be long range, though. Unlocking things for loadouts is a plus and a minus. It's been stated that the default loadouts are going to be dependant upon map, so you won't spawn with an assault rifle on a map like Blood Gultch unless that's what you choose to do. Armor affecting game play doesn't sit well with me. Even minor enhancements will affect gameplay, and I don't know if it will be a good thing or not. Instant respawns are for specific game types. Dunno if it's going to be all slayer games, or just specific variants of slayer matches. Scoring system, if it's just increments of 10, I'm fine with. What I'm not fine with is if it's random increments, based on how you kill somebody. "Random" weapon drops, my understanding is that at the start of a match, weapons are placed as normal. The shotgun for example, is always going to be in Place A at the beginning of any game on that map. After it's picked up, a random power weapon will drop in its place, so instead of a shotgun again, you may get a rocket launcher or sniper, etc. Apparently no weapons on map - I find this one hard to believe. Where did this come from? I don't remember reading or hearing about it. The only thing I remember is the random weapon drops from above. But all in all, good post! So far, I'm liking the direction Halo 4 seems to be going. There are a few items I want clarification on, see above for those. I like having the BR and the DMR, each serving a different purpose. I like the design of the spartans, though not too sure on the helmet just yet. The maps looked good, from what we've seen. I like the inclusion of AA's, and I like the ones they went with, I just hope they find a good way of balancing them all against one another. They claim they are, so we'll see. Generally speaking though, I'm happy. Can't wait for Nov. 6th!
