343 please dont ruin halo for the actual halo fans

Okay then, let's touch on these issues you seem to have. 1. No Respawn times. As far as anybody is aware, the no respawn times/instant respawns is for specific game types. I believe it's been confirmed that in objective type games, this doesn't apply, you still have your normal Halo respawn system in place. 2. Join In Session. This is something we need more information on. While I like the concept for social play, they can't expect it to work well for Ranked games. This I can agree on with you, but we don't know how it is going to be incorporated yet, so we can't say it will be bad. 3. Loadouts. So being able to choose between say, a BR or DMR or AR is a bad thing to start a game? What if I love the DMR but hate the BR? Now I have the choice. I don't see this as being a bad thing, and it's already been confirmed that power weapons will not be options. 4. Drop Pods. It's been confirmed that drop pods are there for power weapons. They will drop in random locations that are pre-determined on the map, though. Sort of like a respawn zone from Forge, only with power weapons. It's something that, with time, can be predicted with a certain percent of accuracy, and you can still control them. Regular weapons, I believe, are still just placed on the map normally. You make changes to add to your fan base. You make changes to keep a game from being boring and repetitive. Every Halo game incorporated changes. Did everybody like them? Of course not, but it's the truth. Why should 343i change this now? And it seems to me that you're not doing much research on the information you are finding, and just making wild assumptions about things, so hopefully I've helped to ease your mind. If not, sorry? -
Hm. Must go listen to this then. Thanks!

Another one? How many is this now? So I'm not going in any particular order here, just throwing stuff out there. Firstly, this is not the official 343 site, it's the community site, we're just fans. You may want to head on over to halo.xbox.com and post this there if you want a better chance of 343 seeing it. They do occasionally browse here, though. Secondly, what defines a game as "FAIL"? The population or the sales? This is a no-brainer. Microsoft and Bungie made a ton off of Reach, so in their eyes, the game was the complete opposite of a "huge FAIL". Thirdly, rather than just say the game is being more like CoD, why not actually give examples of why you feel it is going in that direction? That's it for now. I may check back, I may not. Who knows, I've seen this argument so many times now. -
Not the first game without elites.. CE multiplayer didn't have elites.
-
I could be down with this idea. Sometimes I really want to see how I died, and it's a pain trying to circle around the respawn screen trying to find a shot of who killed me or try to figure out where I was killed from. A kill cam would help with that.

All good points, Constantly. I'll chip in now. 1. I love the join in progress idea, but I've said it multiple times. Does it work with Ranked? Not so much, and hopefully you won't have people quitting out of ranked matches, but to implement it into a social setting? Absolutely. 2. I think Ms. Mystic has this right, it's only for speciic playlists, not all of them. It wouldn't be an ideal situation to have it in all playlists. 3. 100% agree with the others on this. If it's a choice between AR/BR/DMR, then it's perfectly acceptable as long as all the weapons are balanced well with one another. 4. Again, Ms. Mystic and TrueGhostly have this right, I believe. Not so much random as in they will drop anywhere, but in key locations that at first won't be known, but after time playing the game you will learn them and use them.

Agree completely with this. Rolling backwards from a sprinting opponent would be perfect.
-
If this is true, then I will love it. Loved the Visor in ODST. Where was this confirmed?
-
Really? If this is how elite "clans" act, is it that big of a loss for 343? 343 has have every right to take them out, it is their game after all. If they don't want to have elites, they can take elites out. I'm sure they have a reason. Look, I understand you guys upset, if I played strictly elites I'd probably be upset to. But they weren't in CE. What did you do then? What about those "good old times"? Who's to say they won't be back in Halo 5?

Standard Game: $60 Possible New Halo: $80 Increase: 33%. Likelyhood: Maybe >0.1%. The chance of a price increase now is very unlikely, in my mind. Look, BF3 had two discs, and it was still $60. ME2 and ME3 are each two discs, still only $60. I believe Lost Oddysey was 4 discs and if I'm not mistaken when it came out, that was still only $60.

Do we know if "spartan ops" is the final name, or is it just a placeholder?
-
Agreed, but I think it needs to be more than just for MLG and competitive play. There still needs to be ranked playlists and their still needs to be social playlists. My biggest problem with Halo 3's social was the fact that you could be paired up against a team of 50's, and you only be 25's. If there is a 1-50 system again, I think it needs to be incorporated into social matchmaking as well, so that doesn't happen. It doesn't need to be a visible number, but it should still look at it in the background when pairing players up. Regardless of whether it's social or not, you're still looking for a good time and pairing up with a team like that is never a fun time.

Should the community map pack be infection compatible?
fzdw11 replied to The Director's topic in General Discussion
I agree with the others, should definitely support all game types. -
I like the concept of joining in progress, and if it's done properly then I think it could be a great addition. In social games, if it's similar to BF3 where you're joining a server then great. However, in ranked matches I still think it needs to be the old system of matchmaking, opposed to joining a game in progress.

Campaign and firefight only get you so far, really, and the only way to really attain a high rank through campaign/offline firefight is to be completely offline, but when you do go online, you get demoted. You're best bet is playing matchmaking. Besides, rank means nothing in Reach, it doesn't show skill, just how much you've played.

You've got it. Testing new maps and adding them in is probably gone at this point. And, just for the record, this isn't a 343i official site, you are aware of this, correct? Just a community forum. Also, Spectral Jester posts the monthly updates whenever they are announced. Here's the thread for April: http://www.343industries.org/forum/topic/7169-halo-reach-april-playlist-update/ To get a better shot at 343 seeing this, you may want to head over to the HaloWaypoint forums and post something there as well, but by all means, keep this thread going. I wouldn't mind seeing Uncaged and Pinnacle make a return.

Why not the obvious then... Halo: CE
-
But think about this... there is only one John-117. You are playing him in the campaign. But in multiplayer, you were always playing just a random spartan. So why is this an issue? What's saying you can't change your armor to look like Chief's? This is just being picky, now.

This. I loved when they added Elites into multiplayer in Halo 2. But it got old fast, and I quickly changed back to a spartan. But invasion! How I love invasion! It won't be the same if they keep invasion, but it's just red spartans vs. blue spartans.

I agree, the name does seem bland and boring, but on the other hand, I see all these people (not just you, mind) saying that it's boring and bland, but never see any suggestions as to what else it should/could be called. Thoughts?
-
My overall favorite Halo game? Tough question, they were each great in their own way. For me, I'd have to say Reach.

Firstly, welcome to the forum! Use of the word pauldrons instead of shoulders=win. As for your comments/likes/concerns, I can understand where you're coming from on all aspects. Without knowing how Forerunner Vision is going to work, it's really hard to judge just how game-breaking (or not) it will be. This is one of those things that I'm really up in the air on, and will just have to wait and see how it turns out. Ah, the dreaded jetpack - map debate. This has been raging for a while now. I have the same concerns as you, that it could potentially break down balance. However, (isn't there always a "but" or "however"?) since 343i is designing each map from scratch (supposedly) and not just ripping campaign areas, I hope that this is something they're going to take into consideration when they're building them. I think that they would, since they are designing the game with jetpacks in mind. Love, love, LOVE your argument here, and I've used it myself (though in slightly different words). I see no issue with sprint being a universal ability that every spartan has. To me, it just makes sense. This one I'm up in the air about as well. I like the idea, but without knowing how it's going to be implemented, it's a tough call on whether it will be good or not. Obviously, they won't allow power weapons in the loadouts. But what balance issues will crop up by being able to select weapons? What choices on weapons am I going to have? I'm starting to wonder if they're going to do something along the lines of "You're in a game of Slayer BR, you have the choice between a BR and the Covenant Carbine (or assault carbine, or whatever)". We'll just have to hold out hope that this balances well. The Chief's armor changing, meh. It's minor, and something that you only see in cut scenes anyway. I can get over this. As for faith in 343, I to have it. I don't think they're going to screw the game up.

While there are a good portion of people that are in agreement with you, you have to keep in mind what you just stated. "Without any sort of user opinion other than a few people complaining about these maps on the internet?" How many different people are in this thread, and of the whole population of SWAT, what does it make us? Less than 1% would be my guess. I loved the maps, but I can understand them being gone. My issue isn't that they took them away, but that they took them away without replacing them. That's more problematic than just taking out two maps. Also, welcome to the forums!
