Agreed! And welcome iProFrom559. Definitely a nice little spot on the net, and the community really is great. Enjoy your stay!

It all depends on how said "Forerunner Vision" would work. A split second peak at what's on the other side of a wall? That may be okay. If I can run around with it turned on for 5 or 10 seconds? Definitely a balance problem. As for the jetpack vs. thruster pack debate, this throws that into question, doesn't it? While I'm with the feeling that it was more of a thruster pack on the Chief, we haven't seen it in multiplayer yet. Who knows?

But knowing when the Shotgun will return, regardless of whether you had it previously or not, is still a valid strategy. If the weapon is there, why not take it? It's stupid to not, even if you don't plan on using it, at least the other team doesn't have it to use against you.

I know exactly how you're feeling right now. It makes me sad, hearing about some of these things. But, maybe they will be implemented wonderfully. I hope so. I'm not going to touch on all of these things in your post, which is why I cut it down to the one that I have an opinion on. Perhaps the Assault Carbine is similar to the BR, in that it's a covenant weapon with a 3-round burst instead of just the one shot regular Covenant Carbine.

Oh I agree completely. The problem is, there are a ton of people that want the game to go back to the way Halo 3 was. Your comment about Halo 3.5 is perfect. I don't personally believe that 343 is going to make a game that is anything like CoD, but without changes to the core game itself (and they don't need to be drastic changes, but if they are for the better, great), it runs the risk of becoming CoD like, in that it could end up being the same game over and over. All I want from 343 is a game that feels like Halo, plays like Halo, and reminds me why I love Halo. What I don't want is a copy of Halo 3 with better graphics, and when 5 comes out, I don't want it to be a copy of 4.But that's all beside the point, because I believe they will do it proper justice, if Anniverary is any sign of things to come.

Why not add something constructive to this, instead of a one word response that means very little? Seriously. If you don't like any of the ideas, give a reason why. Explain what you don't like, come up with alternatives, something. Not just "No".

Yeah, custom loadouts have been a big discussion recently. I'm still waiting on hearing more about that, but like you said, if the DMR is the most dominant, why would anyone choose something different, knowing that it's less powerful? They'd have to balance it out more against the power of the BR, which I assume 343 will do. I still want to know what they are thinking with the custom loadouts, though. Need more information before we can decide if it's good or bad.
-
That's why I still like my theory of the BR also being the DMR, a switch between single shot and three-round bursts. It's the only way around the whole evolution of the DMR into the BR that I can see.
-
I'd be down for that. Have a machine gun on the front of the mongoose? Yes please. However, I don't know about it screwing up the controls. You simply have to be lined up perfectly with the person, the gun itself can't move, and once it's out of ammo it's done until it is destroyed and respawns.

Adding new weapons to the game, such as ones from the novels is fine. I'd enjoy a wider selection of weapons. And each weapon does have their uses. What wins when you round a corner and come face to face with an enemy, a shotgun or the DMR? Same goes with the energy sword. How about at long range, would you rather have a sniper rifle in your hand, or the DMR? Sure, the DMR is a nice alternative if you don't have the sniper rifle, but I'd still rather have the sniper. Every weapon in Halo has its purpose, it's just knowing when and how to use those weapons. I'm not going to try and pick somebody off across the map with an assault rifle, but if I have a DMR? Sure, I'll give it a shot. I'm not going to take on a vehicle with the plasma repeater, but a rocket launcher? Yes please. Weapon traits/tiers/attachments are a gimmick for other games. Why does Halo need them?

Don't we already have a thread on this? Like I said in the other thread, Halo Reach happens before CE. Reach had a visible health bar because CE did. Halo 2 upgraded Chief's armor. He still had health, just not visible, and there was no need to run for a medpack. Halo 3 kept with this, and so will Halo 4. Chances are they won't go back to Reach, even though I personally like it better.

Being insulting in your first post was not necessary. But that's beside the point now. Having unlockable weapons in tiers is not Halo. That's CoD and BF, and that's not what Halo fans want. If I wanted those features, I'd go plan CoD or BF3. Customizable controls? Yes, I like that, I have no problem with that. Let me set up the controls however I want. Great. Tiers and unlockable weapons? Weapon attachments? No. You have the Sniper Rifle. Halo takes place in a fictional universe. There's no need for multiple sniper rifles. BF3 takes place more or less in the real world, where there are tons of different sniper rifles. I have no problem with a game like BF3 having those features. But not Halo. Just because it's what you think would make the game better doesn't mean that is what the rest of the community would want.
-
Didn't the DMR evolve into the BR? If so, then it makes no sense to have both in the same game. But regardless, I like the DMR and the BR, so I'm not complaining.
-
Halo 4 deserves to be treated like any other Halo game, because in the end, it is not CoD. Some change is a good thing. However, with that being said, it still needs to feel like Halo. Without knowing how they are planning on doing custom loadouts, it's too early to tell and too early to start complaining. Now, as for your first post. Nice way to start off your forum life. Would be better to not start with insults, but that's just my opinion. Exactly. If it's just the AR/BR/DMR, then fine. No problems from my end, even though it does give people advantages in certain situations instead of everyone starting off balanced. As for Halo to be the same as Halo 3? It really is sad. Some change is good, as long as the game still feels like Halo.

No argument is invalid, especially if you read the whole thread. While I like Reach's system, it's not going to be that way in Halo 4. We've seen video of gameplay. And, like I said earlier, it would be a step back technologically in the halo universe. So no, the argument is not invalid.

I quite agree with this one, actually, and I think that's the way it's going to be implemented. Sprint, not as an armor ability, but as an attribute that every spartan has. So yes, this is a good thing. I'm not so sure on this one. I'm up in the air about it. I can see where you're coming from, but at the same time, I can see where people are going to say that a 900lb spartan shouldn't be able to sprint endlessly. BF3 is designed around a lot of vehicle play, especially on the larger maps. If you don't get into a vehicle, you're kinda screwed. So, to counter that, you add in an unlimited sprint feature, and now somebody that doesn't get into a vehicle can get to an area quicker, but still be late to the party. I liked that feature, but at the same time, wondered why my normal human could sprint endlessly across 500 meters and not be winded, and then immediately sprint again if he wanted to. I kind of like this approach, and it makes sense if your crosshairs expand while running instead of going away completely, because let's face it, if you're running you are going to be less accurate. However, if one player is sprinting and the other isn't, the non-sprinting player has an advantage on accuracy. And we'd need a lot more control over how we sprint than we currently do.

I think there's a place for both the DMR and the BR, but they need to be balanced well with one another in order to have the cohesion required in the game. For example, like My BR iZ RusTyy said, if people are only going to use the DMR to pick people off at long ranges, then why include it at all? The sniper is by far better than the DMR, fewer shots required, etc. Now if they have seperate playlists, where you play with the BR in one and the DMR in another, that would make it work. You can't have both on the same map. In another thread, I commented on the fact that, what if they're just adjusting the BR to act as both the BR and the DMR? A quick toggle of "up" on the D-Pad, and you switch between a single shot DMR style that is accurate at longer ranges, and a 3-shot burts which is more accurate at mid range.

It's the repeating of certain numbers that is throwing me off. I agree, there has to be something about them, but what? I think file numbers is most likely, but why the repeats?
-
Not significant enough, unless they're planning on releasing 4 that day, and I've never heard of a game being released on a Sunday. Do we know when 4 is suppose to take place?
-
What's so special about the 25th? Any thoughts?
-
Out of curiosity, where did this date come from? Because I came up with November 25, 2012 @ 12:00:00 pm exactly. Sorry, just going back and re-reading through the whole thread now, and looked at the counter and did some quick math, followed up by checking source coding. Interesting to note, it's a Sunday.

Seriously? Why not make this one post? Edit: As far as I'm aware, the beacons are always in the same locations, but like x5had0wxMa9nuMx said, some areas of the maps are symmetrical, and look very similar. Just try searching around some more.

Agree with Dan on this, don't believe that AC is a monitor on any installation within the array, unless it is the Greater Ark. But, the numbers it showed and that adam discovered in the terminals has me interested. Dates of some sort, perhaps? Or a catalog type number? I've been looking at all of the numbers from the beginning of each terminal. It's strange, but there doesn't seem to be any logical pattern to them. Terminal 1 - Present: 044657.04.21.21.34.56 (21 characters, on the POA) Terminal 2 - Past: 000003.09.12.06.54 (18 characters, on Installation 04) Terminal 3 - Present: 100002.09.19.21.33.01 (21 characters, on Truth & Reconciliation) Terminal 4 - Past: 044657.04.21.21.34.56 (21 characters, on Installation 04) Terminal 5 - Past: 044657.04.23.01.17.22 (21 characters, on Installation 04) Terminal 6 - Past: 044657.04.23.01.17.22 (21 characters, on Installation 04) Terminal 7 - Past: 89875.11.11.15.41.13 (20 characters, on Installation 04) Terminal 8 - Past?: 051207.06.07.06.11.02 (21 characters, on Installaion 04) Terminal 9 - Present: 044657.04.21.21.34.56 (21 characters, on Truth & Reconciliation Terminal 10 - Present: 100002.09.22.09.38.17 (21 characters, on POA) Terminal 11 - Present: 100002.09.22.8.63.55 (21 characters, ???) Terminal 5 and 6 deal with the crashed ship. But as far as being dates, nothing makes sense. The numbers are too random for that. File numbers? Perhaps anything dealing with a specific topic is filed under the same number.

I was thinking about this, and was wondering if that's how they're going to implement the DMR. A single shot from the BR that is more accurate at a longer distance vs a 3-round burst from the BR that is better for close-mid ranges.

God, it's been so long since I've played through H2 in it's entirety... after I beat CEA on legendary I may have to go back and play through that again.
