  1. Also the Incindiary cannon, cause my wife shot it just as I was going to the objective, and it blew him up. :/ Just play it again, and make sure you don't screw around at the end.
  2. Oh, I don't disagree with you at all Director. But at the same time, I still believe Sierra1117 has the right of it. Cortana won't be gone, IMO, and the Chief will become more human as the trilogy goes on, but that doesn't change what was done to him in order to make him a Spartan in the first place.
  3. Unfortunately, all the Chief knows is war, and thus he cannot survive in a society at peace. What purpose does he serve? There would be no point for him to be there. Even aboard a ship like the Infinity, as a training instructor, is that really enough for somebody who's been through as much as the Chief has? Sierra1117 has the right of it, IMO.
  4. Okay, let me attempt to explain how the system works, though I can't guarantee that it is 100% accurate. Your SR# means very little, as far as your actual "skill" goes. Everybody can get to SR-50 and above, just by playing the game. That being said, somebody with a high SR could be good, or they could be terrible. This # has nothing to do with how they match you up with people. Behind the scenes, they have a skill based system in place, but not visible to anybody as of yet (come early 2013, it'll start showing on Waypoint, whether they reset your skill or not is yet to be determined). This is how the system determines who to place you against, it looks for people of similar skill to your own. How much varience is included in this, I do not know, but as an example, if you were a 30 in Halo 3, it would attempt to match you with other 30's, and then 25's - 35's, and so on and so forth, until it found a match. I'm assuming it is doing something similar in this situation, but it is currently not visible, like I stated earlier. So, when you first started playing on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, the system was trying to find a baseline for your skill rank, and now that it has, it is going to start matching you against players of similar skill to your own. As for matching against parties, that one is a pain and I agree, parties should match against other parties (or at least parties of 4 or 8, if they don't want to match parties of 2 against other parties of 2). And currently, I am not aware of any way to make it so you only search for new games, and not games in progress. Though whenever I've joined a game in progress, it's never been at a point where the game was already lost, I've always been placed in a game that was within 5 (8 at most) kills of catching the other team and taking the lead, and I have taken the lead in a few of those games. Anyway, I hope I've helped explain some things for you, and keep on playing.
  5. How is typing something up any different than verbally explaining it, honestly? "Step 1: do this. Step 2: do that. Step 3: now you need to do this. Step 4: Rinse and Repeat" I'm with Wombat here, why not just explain it on the site and be done with it.
  6. Unfortunately, it only recognizes that the commondations are complete if you are playing online, so if the server is offline, then I don't believe you'll get them. It's unfortunate, and a lot of people are having this issue, but that is the only way to get the MC armor. But again, check your commondations, if most are marked and you're just missing a few, you only have to do the ones you are missing. Perhaps sometime in the near future, 343 will take a look at the people who've played and their GT's to see if they have the achievements unlocked, and maybe they can unlock it at that point in time, but I don't have any information on this currently.
  7. Check your commondation progress for the Campaign on Legendary, see if you're still missing any of them. It will only unlock after the Campaign Commendation mastery is completed.
  8. To be honest, when I first heard about Infinity Slayer, I wasn't too thrilled. I thought "Well, this doesn't seem right, but I'll wait and see how it plays before I pass my final judgement." I was concered with the Instant Respawns, Ordinance Drops, Weapon Spawns, Loadouts, all of the normal things a long time Halo fan was probably worried about when the items were first announced. But after playing it last week and over the weekend, I've decided it was time to actually pass judgement. And I've got to say, I was pleasantly surprised. The Loadouds seem pretty well balanced, I haven't found one that I can't counter in some way or another. The Instant respawns don't seem to affect the gameplay as much as I thought they would. Sure, occasionally I'll get surrounded because two enemies ended up spawning in behind me, but that has been a rare occurance. The Ordinance drops seem to work out really well, and it's been a nice change of pace to just simply map control and timing weapon spawns. So all in all, I'm happy with Infinity Slayer.
  9. This one is actually pretty easy to explain. When in a Banshee, if you do a backflip like you've stated, watch the tail piece that moves, changing your direction. If you are pushing any direction other than forward, your tail piece will be in that direction, and the minute the manuever ends, your Banshee will flip to that direction, making it possible to almost immediately do a 0-radius turn coming out of a manuever, something that you can't really do otherwise. If you want to keep going in the direction you were at, then you just need to make sure you're still forcing your thumbsticks in that direction, rather than modifying the positions.
  10. Check your commondations for the Campaign, see which levels you need to complete on Legendary, and do it. Learn to understand how the system works, rather than just complaining on a forum. Also.... Duplicate thread, request to be locked.
  11. There is a Competitive Ranking System based on Skill being developed for release in early 2013, it will be visible on Waypoint, no word on whether it will be visible in game somewhere or not.
  12. This is a community forum, fan made and fan run, no affiliation with 343 Industries or Halo 4. The proper place to report glitches is over at Halo Waypoint (halo.xbox.com), they have a thread there for reporting bugs and glitches, though check to make sure yours hasn't been posted already before adding it to their list. Also, all bugs, glitches and server issues here should be posted in this thread: http://www.343industries.org/forum/topic/16384-server-issues-bugs-errors-post-them-here-community-info-topic/, that way everything is all in one location and easier to find and access.
  13. The solution to this is actually quite simple. Remove Waypoint from your system, and redownload it, that will fix this issue. As far as Halo 4 Multiplayer, I'd suggest making sure you're logged into your Live account prior to starting the game, and if it still pops up, switch your network to XBox Live, like it said. I don't have the game infront of me, so I can't walk you through the steps to do this, but I'm sure somebody else on the site can.
  14. There's plenty of information to provide. What were you playing (If War Games, what playlist, if not War Games, then what was it)? What level were you when you started playing? How long did you play for? Were you using Double XP codes? Is it possible that you simply hit the XP cap for the day?
  15. See, the problem with "polls" and trying to get a firm idea of where the community stands, especially in a poll that is conducted on a forum, where it will stay open until the topic gets locked, is that the numbers will always change. For example, right now the first two options control 57.50%, meaning that since you posted this, the poll has swung in the opposite direction. A breakdown, as of right now (based on the poll, which is subjective to say the least): People who like the changes in the game: 57.50% People who are 50/50: 12.50% People who dislike the changes in the game: 30%. Next time you want to make a thread basing information on a "poll" conducted only a single day earlier, think twice about it. /thread
  16. To EVERYBODY in this thread: This is not the official 343 Industires site, therefore we cannot help you with the problems you are having. All we can do is give you advice. If you are looking for a response from 343 Industires, head on over to Halo Waypoint (halo.xbox.com), that is the official site for all things related to 343 Industires and Halo.
  17. Like Christian said, a picture would be very helpful. Also, you may want to head over to Waypoint (halo.xbox.com), since that is the official site for all things Halo and 343, you may be able to find your answers there. They do have a forum set up for bugs, and whether they have solutions or not. Check the last Halo Bulletin.
  18. We'll just agree to disagree on the first part then. Damage that backfires was actually brought up in one of those threads I mentioned previously. My only concern with it is what happens on an accidental sniper shot if somebody decides to move right infront of your scope as you're firing? Or the grenade throw where a teammate decides to run in, even after I've already thrown the grenade? My ultimate solution would be an auto-boot feature, that after two betrayals per team, then the next one gets auto-booted. Sure, this leaves no room for any mercy, but with the new join-in-progress system, hopefully that slot can be filled quickly. As for CoD, whatever. I don't have any personal experience with the game, it just doesn't interest me, so you won't here any negativity from me about your comments.
  19. Look, I understand where you're coming from about the whole betrayal and booting thing, but the fact if the matter is if somebody does betray you, and you go for the revenge betrayal, the game will automatically give them the option to boot 100% time, always. But that is beside the point. Now, to the other points. That's the only situation that is going to matter for friendly fire staying on. If I can throw grenades, rockets, etc into a giant combat without consequences, what's stopping me from doing it? The current system works the way it does for a reason. If I throw a grenade or a rocket like I said in my previous post, I'll kill the enemies yes, but if they damanged my teammate and he dies, they still get a point for it. Or, I betray him possibly get booted for it, and our team only gets 3 points instead of 4 because I'm acting like a jerk and not caring about my teammates. What I came up with previously is a simple solution, but I don't know if it would be the right solution. Because, personally, turning off friendly fire is not the right solution. But what about this, a system where you cannot outright kill your teammates, but instead just drop their shields, leaving them extremely vulnerable to enemy fire? The downside to this is that it does not solve Echo's problem of somebody griefing and not playing the objective, just sitting in a corner and hiding with the flag/bomb etc. Like I said, this topic has been discussed in length many times over, in many different threads, most of which are about the boot system and betrayal. There are some decent ideas in all of those threads, so I suggest going and giving them a read, though some are quite long. As for your OP, and why we "need" friendly fire, the truth of the matter is that it does add balance to the game, like what Echo was trying to articulate, and it comes right down to my first post. If I can spam grenades/rockets/anything explosive into an area without the consequences of killing my team, it breaks game balance on objective game types. Now, instead of trying to be precise with shots, I just spray and pray without fear of knocking out my teammates shields and giving the enemy an easy kill, or outright betray them on my own. While in a vehicle, I don't need to be conscious of where my teammates are, or if I may run them over and kill them. It wouldn't matter. Now I run into them, hit them and push them out of the way. Now I just fire rockets into every combat I see without fear of killing my teammate until I run out of them. Same with grenades. Same with any explosive weapon. So while I may not like the friendly fire rules or the betrayal/booting system, in my mind you cannot turn off friendly fire. What really needs done is nothing with friendly fire, it's the betrayal/booting system that needs to be revamped and tweaked, personally.
  20. And don't ever worry about the one in front of you, right?
  21. Hey there and welcome to the forums! You've stumbled across the unofficial friendliest little corner of the internet, and to ease some of your concerns, we're nothing like the Bungie forums were. So have fun, enjoy your time, and I look forward to having you as a part of this great community we have here. On a side note, just so you're aware, this is not the official site for 343i or Halo, that honor belongs to Waypoint (halo.xbox.com), but IMO, we're much better here. P.S. Great start to the title. One of my all time favorite movies.
  22. Ohhhh, I hate moving. It's never fun. Anyway, take your time and have a safe trip to wherever it is you may be moving too, and we'll see you when you get back.
  23. This topic has been discussed so often it's not even funny anymore. But, to sum up why Friendly Fire is on, here me out. Name the more realistic option of the two I present below. I have the rockets. My teammate finds four enemies in close proximity, runs into the middle of them and I decide to fire the rocket as well, killing the four enemies and my teammate in the process. I have the rockets. My teammate finds four enemies in close proximity, runs into the middle of them and I decide to fire the rocket as well, killing the four enemies and my teammate walks out untouched. /thread
  24. I'm sorry, I have to go against the curve here and say the original Saiyan saga. Epicness, in my mind, though don't get me wrong, the Frieza Saga is a definte close second. I actually just rewatched the whole series again over the past couple of months, and the stuff beyond Cell is just meh compared to the stuff before.
  25. Technically, an M rated game in the US is only purchasable by those 18 and over, however that does not stop parents from purchasing the game for their 7 year olds, or it could be a case of a parent (or adult figure in a household) who purchases a game and then happens to live with a 7 year old. Even if they are purchasing it for somebody younger than 18, I don't know how anybody could prove that, honestly. But, a parent (who is not a gamer, mind) purchasing the game for a young child and allowing them to go on Live is just a silly notion to me. I mean, if you as a parent don't play video games, and don't have any experience with XBox Live, what makes you think it is a good idea to let a young child on there? If I'm a parent who doesn't know the first thing about guns, what makes me think it's a good idea to give my child a 9mm pistol? Does that seem like a good idea? Or how about letting them go to a Slipknot concert. Yeah, seems spectacular. -.- And yet, they sell Halo Megablock sets, designed with young children in mind. So who's really at fault here, the parents who purchase the game for their children, or in this case, 343i who is marketing the game to young children? Now this isn't a smack at some of our younger members here, from the conversations we've had, you all seem like mature kids that I wouldn't have any problem playing with, so please don't think I'm putting you down.
