The biggest issue I had with Halo 4 was the fact it was still on Reach's experience system. You know, the one that maxes out every game making it not matter how good or bad you do. Making all matchmaking pointless except for the very casual gamer. Well, when I found out that the new CRS Ranking System was going to be implemented; basically making it like Halo 2 and 3, I almost exploded from sheer excitement... BUT then today when I got back on Halo 4 for the first time in a while I was so excited to see that it was implemented! Then immediate disappointment when I found out that it was only view-able through Waypoint. Now I must ask, what's the point? No one is going to go to Waypoint just to find their rank. Not a single person is going to do that. The whole point of having the system is to make it view-able IN GAME. So people can view it, and determine where you are skill wise, so you can brag about it, and so you actually get matched up with people with similar skill. I know for a fact I'm not the only person enraged by this. I miss my Halo experience. Halo 4 is superior to it's predecessors, but I just simply can't keep playing it like the older games because of the ranking system. Bringing Halo 3's ranking system to Halo 4 would make matchmaking extremely intense competitively. Fix it Sincerely, Everyone who loved Halo 3 and 2

I hope some of the forum memebers will seriously take time to read this. Thoughts Before Game When the previews were out for Halo 4, I was actually stunned. I thought the loadout systems and armor abilities were going to absolutely trash Halo 4 and ruin it. To my surprise it did the opposite, it feels very well thought-out and fresh to the Halo experience. The music could be better. This soundtrack is very lacking in my opinion. I thought that from both before the game came out and now. Thoughts on Halo 4 vs. Other Halo Titles This game is by far much better than Halo: Reach, I can actually play it and not feel like the entire game is a broken down mess. It is by far the best Halo look-wise and has a great campaign that makes Master Chief finally a human being. However, I despise the ranking system returned from Reach. Yes, I understand that a lot of people enjoy the XP system from kills and such, but I still find myself with a round-about same XP no matter how well I do. In fact, I actually tested it. I played three games not even touching my controller, I just picked a class and hid. Then I played 3 games actually participating. (All 6 games were wins.) The difference between me not playing and playing added together was a difference of only 563 XP. That's pitiful. That makes it show that you don't even need to care to be up with the elite high ranks. You need some sort of number ranking system like Halo 3 or else there really is absolutely no reason to play like you want to win. I wouldn't even mind a mix! Just... Just not this. I can't play matchmaking and feel like I'm accomplishing something. I just can't do it, and it's sad because the multiplayer is really superb. Finally, and most importantly, custom games. Some of you (who even bothered to read this) must be very confused on why I said that. This, is more of a personal thing. The thing that made Halo 2 and 3 for me was the fact that custom games were always booming with my friends and I could always have a blast. Halo 4 has been out for a month now, why is the file share system still down? That's asinine. My friends have moved on to Black Ops 2, and not only do I have no one to play custom games with, but with the file share down, I have no custom games to play with my friends who do still play Halo 4. I wish my Halo 3 record was still available, because I had something like 6,000+ custom games. Yes, I go outside now. That's besides the point. Halo just isn't Halo when you can't fool around with your friends. Which leads back into matchmaking, because no one takes it seriously anymore. Final Thoughts Yes, I know I complained a lot. That doesn't mean that I don't like Halo 4. I love Halo 4 and what it offered me. However, compared to the other Halos I have played, it's still on the lower tier because of too many minor issues added up. It's better than Reach. It's better than O.D.S.T. It's even better than Halo 1 for me. It just didn't top the fun I got out of Halo 2 and 3. I need purpose to play a game and with how the multiplayer ended up, I just can't put it above it. Even though it's really fun to play. The campaign was slightly below par with Halo 2 though and for that, I commend 343, because I never thought that Halo would ever come close again to having such a great campaign. 343, I believe in you as a company, and while you may not read this, this is a true fan to the Halo series here, I want to see it finished strong. Halo 4 would've blown me away if you just tweaked the multiplayer just a little bit. I'll stick in there with Halo 5 and 6. Hoping for a brighter Halo future- TristanX11

The Arbiter is my favorite character in all of Halo; and as much as I'd love to see him again, 343 will not be featuring him in Campaign, however, he will be making an appearance in Spartan Ops. This specific Halo focuses more on John and Cortana's bond and more of their history. So I'm sure as the next installment roles by he will be in either 5 or 6. I hope.

The only reason, that I can think of, for the removal of the SMG in Halo: Reach is simply because in Halo 3 the hardcore gamers found every weapon inferior to the Battle Rifle. As well as having the Assault Rifle returning the SMG lost its place as the happy shoot bullets everywhere gun. I guess Bungie decided in order to save space it was just easier to remove the SMG. Especially since duel wielding is gone. (May I ask why?) Besides that, the SMG is indeed one of my favorite weapons, even without another duel wield weapon with it. I would love to see it's return along with the removal of basically all the pointless weapons in Reach. I mean come on. You can put the Spiker in but not the SMG? Oh so Brutes are carrying Brute weapons? Then why remove the Brute Shot? Bungie's logic didn't make much sense to me there. tl;dr: SMG is awesome, I want it back.

I'll be honest I didn't really read your entire post. BUT, I agree a number system is needed.

So you're not going to get the next installment in the series because you can't play as an Elite in multiplayer? Not only is that a stupid grudge, but I know for a fact when all your friends are playing having a blast you're going to get it. I liked playing as an Elite in Halo 2, but in Halo 3 I said I don't care... It shouldn't be that big of a deal. Plus it allows 343 to focus on one character model. Making much more enjoyable armor.

its basically a close combat precision rifle. if that's understandable.

Are you upset that Elites will not be playable in Halo 4 Matchmaking?
TristanX11 replied to ZB-85's topic in Halo 4
I personally don't care, even though in Halo 2 I played as an Elite. Removal means that the Elite can now be focused on as an enemy. Instead of having the same powers as the player, with the occasional rage, this will permit them to be different sizes and abilities changing up combat. -
My feelings about the game are mixed as well. I believe that the game is still going to be great no matter how much they change it. However, there is positive and negatives to these changes. The reason I would play Halo, besides Reach, any day over Call of Duty is simply because the multiplayer functioned on the idea of starting equal. Everyone had the SAME weapon when the game started. If you wanted a power weapon you had to FIGHT for it. It wasn't that you started out with your weapon of choice giving you an upper advantage. That's where skill came in. A big reason people despise Call of Duty is not because of the gameplay itself but the people who play it. It's not fun to play against people hiding with shotguns that have the range of snipers. And even if you killed them they'd just be there again within the minute.

As much as the community resented the old Halo 2 and 3 ranking system, to me, it was a good reason to continue ranking up in matchmaking. Which, plus these other points, are the reasons I believe it should return. THERE WOULD BE A POINT TO WINNING. With Reach's system it honestly doesn't mater if you win or lose, nor will you be penalized for leaving. When you play matchmaking in Reach, no one cares! Which is okay for social matches, but for ranked there should at least be some competitive tension. I'm tired of playing in matches where half the people don't play. Besides boosters the number system made a matchmaking that was balanced with opponents. It wouldn't take weeks to level up once, to gain the customizable parts of the player characters would not take time but rather honing skills. Minor changes could make the simple system flawless. Additions like removing the (I think its called) heat system, or at least dumbing it down would remove the entire argument that it's too hard to rank up. However a heat deranking system I think would work. So for example if you won ten games in a row and lost one you wouldn't drop in rank. But if you play two games and lose both your chance is increased to derank. Now I know a lot of you are against its return. So share thoughts here.

Everything we know about halo 4 [Just the fact's]
TristanX11 replied to Darren Stallcup's topic in Halo 4
absolutely none of this is confirmed. besides cortana not shutting up and armor customization. the jet pack is actually a thruster pack which is built into master chief's armor. and trailers are usually nothing like the actual game *COUGH COUGH Halo 3*. -
the one issue is that the really good armor would be the only thing used.

I beg to differ, right now for PC halo 2 vista and Halo CE have thousands of people playing. on computer.

Halo 2 is by far the best Halo of all time. A perfect story that involves action, suspense, corruption, plot twists that worked, and an enemy becoming the strongest of allies. Who is personally my favorite character. As for the multiplayer, there would be days where I was playing Halo 3 and I would say to myself how much I miss Halo 2. Maybe because it was the first real shooter I ever played, and the multiplayer sucked me in, but I digress, even though it was lacking some customablility in the custom games, i found it just as amusing to have rules that would be followed by honor code. One might argue the game was unbalanced, or that it was too buggy...... but that's where a lot of the fun came in. I personally was terrible at Halo 2 and I still loved to play online.

One thing that personally disappointed me about Halo 3 and even more in Halo: Reach was the custom games. Why? Custom Games keep the game fresh. It made Halo 2 and 3 last several years past what they would have without it. In Halo 3, custom games were great. Don't get me wrong, but there were options that should have been there that just weren't. A perfect example is the beam rifle. Why couldn't a person assign it as a starting weapon? There was NO point to not being able to do that. Did Bungie just forget? Well it's not important now. The point I'm trying to make is that when the Bungie.net forum threw an outrage on this, Bungie didn't capitalize on it in Halo: Reach. Reach's custom game options are just pitiful. Awful. Horrendous. It's a mockery of itself. To me it removes the point of even having Forge World. Not only did Bungie fail to add the options it's fans begged for, but it also took away options that- AGAIN were completely pointless to remove. What I'm asking of 343; is to make sure the options that should be out, are out. Halo 2 in retrospect had more customibility than any other Halo! Bungie made sure any possible option that a user might want to use was right there. As well as all weapons could be started with. Enough of my ramble. Here's what I'm stating 1) All weapons that are in the game, and even previous games if possible, should be able to be selected to start with and place in forge. 2) Any possible options from previous games, and options we've all been asking for should be added. 3) Forge should reflect all these options and have a friendly UI that any person can properly use. No more of that "Not compatible with this gametype". Now I'm sure I'll be editing this later. I am fairly tired and I have a feeling I just repeat myself over and over. However, I don't care. I want to see opinions of the forum, and any options that any of you would add too.
