Halo 5: 4 ways to improve multiplayer. Source: http://www.xb1.co.uk/features/halo-5-4-ways-to-improve-multiplayer/ Over the last nine years, we’ve sunk more hours into Halo’s multiplayer than we’d feel comfortable revealing. And as much as we love the ongoing struggle between red versus blue, we can’t help but wonder if Bungie (and subsequently 343 Industries) has led the franchise into uncomfortable territory. Halo’s multiplayer found success iterating on the classic FPS-action born from arena shooters. Halo’s at its best when it’s forcing eight evenly matched players into a tight a-symmetrical map; with whoever could best take advantage of what’s placed inside emerging the victor. Halo: Reach and Halo 4 changed this; introducing elements like customisable loadouts and character persistence. It felt out of place, a reaction to the success of Call Of Duty and Battlefield. But Halo doesn’t need to imitate. Halo 3’s simple-yet-addictive multiplayer served over 11.5 million sessions, and 343 Industries would do well to remember that Halo leads the way when it comes to precariously crouching over an enemies face post-firefight. Here are four changes that can help Halo regain the multiplayer crown. 1. Ditch loadouts What was 343 thinking? It’s tough to remember a time before Call Of Duty’s obsessive loadout tinkering became the norm, but Halo was always the go-to for skill-based multiplayer. Equally levelled players would go toe-to-toe with nothing but an Assault Rifle, two Frag grenades and littered weapons to claim victory. The opportunity to create loadouts – custom armour permutations and various weapon combinations from the outset of a game – threw the balance of Halo into disarray. 343 needs to ditch loadouts and let players duke it out over the Rocket Launcher. 2. Play to win “No I’m not running for the flag, I’m watching my kill to death ratio.” There was a time when Halo was punishing. Every player obtained a rank that would rise with success and fall with failure. It made every game count – you weren’t fighting for an arbitrary average, you were fighting to increase your permanent rank, to take you into tougher fights and more lucrative bragging rights. This was shelved, and it’s let the K/D ratio-obsessive ruin the core experience. Bring back true skill ranking and force the campers and objective avoiders out into the open for an easy kill. 3. Reduce the weapon pool Look, we love guns as much as you guys, but Halo has too many. As hard as it is to believe we actually just said that, we can’t help but dream of a time when the weapon pool is reduced in favour of simplicity. There’s no need to have the Battle Rifle, DMR, Light Rifle, and Carbine – they serve a similar purpose and are entirely unnecessary. Halo on Xbox One would do well to refine each weapon to its core purpose, simply introducing a Covenant and UNSC version of each. Oh, and bring back dual wielding, we miss the SMGs. 4. Take advantage of the Xbox One Back in November, 343’s Brad Welch took to Twitter to offer the slimmest hint as to what we can expect from Halo on Xbox One’s multiplayer. “Going to make whatever future 60fps, dedi server Halo we may make as awesome as possible to as many fans as possible.” While he addressed issues like map size and loadouts directly, it’s this mention of dedicated servers that has us excited. Halo still suffers from host advantage problems, and dedicated servers would all but irradiate this particular nuisance. We can’t wait to see how the Cloud alters the multiplayer landscape. Anything more you think Halo on Xbox One is going to need to change? Let us know in the comments below. Sotaro Tojima again is back! Source: http://www.microsofttranslator.com/bv.aspx?from=&to=en&a=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.halodestiny.net%2Fnews-2725-sotaro-tojima-est-de-nouveau-de-la-partie.html%23skip No wonder that Sotaro Tojima is always at 343 Industries and learning how it works at the moment on the next title Halo of the studio, but it is still nice to have a confirmation! As for Neil Davidge, it is still unclear if the artist, composer, in large part, to the soundtrack of Halo 4, will return for the next installment of the saga. Xboxjobs is therefore a pleasure to share a few moments in the company of the audio Director of 343 Industries via Instagram. Happy to rely again on him, because regardless of the tastes and colors of each, the audio work on Halo 4 remains excellent.

Destiny: Post-Apocalyptic Ambtion Source: http://www.gamerdebates.com/2014/03/04/destiny-post-apocalyptic-ambtion/ Ambition. It’s such a positively charged word. We typically view ambitious people in such a way that implies they’re destined for success. Unfortunately, the ambitious aren’t always successful and occasionally end up walking into territories they have no business being. Right now, Bungie is being ambitious with their upcoming title Destiny. They’re paving the way for a title that expands across several genres. It’s a post-apocalyptic, shooter which draws heavily from RPG elements in a universe that spans both sci-fi and fantasy themes. There are, however, several questions that surround the release of this highly anticipated title: Will it Spread itself too Thin? For those of you who are basketball fans, perhaps you’ll understand what I mean when I say a player is a tweener. A tweener is typically a player who can play either position but doesn’t really excel at either. The question is: will Destiny spread itself too thin and in turn be a “tweener?” It’s typically important for developers to remember their audience when drawing up plans. Destiny, at its core, is a shooter. However, it draws a great deal of inspiration from games like Borderlands in that it allows for loot, character progression, and exploration. Now, I know what you’re thinking: Borderlands did awesome and you’re right. This is simply an idea. Will Bungie fans comes searching for another Halo experience only to be offered something different? Instinct tells me this title is going to be fantastic. I mean, this is Bungie we’re talking about here and the prospect of running around a post-apocalyptic world, exploring the secrets behind the humans’ demise sounds AWESOME. However… I have been Fooled Before There have been titles that I simply couldn’t wait for, but when they arrived, they turned out to be less than expected. Star Wars: The Old Republic is one of these titles. Presented by Bioware as a true Star Wars MMO experience soon proved to be more of a single-player, story driven campaign with little to no endgame. This left a bitter taste in many gamers’ mouths. For this reason, I always take previews with a grain of salt. Destiny, however, will likely not suffer as ToR did. After all, it’s not an MMO and we know that Bungie has developed it with the utmost care. What I Look Forward to Most I’ll be the first to say that FPS games aren’t always my favorite; however, the RPG elements certainly appeal to me. I look forward to the prospect of teaming with others as we discover the secrets of the galaxy. I look forward to exploring unknown planets in order to see how humans terraformed each, sneaking through the ruins that were left behind. I look forward to gathering awesome loot from unknown creatures found in the darkest places throughout the solar system. But above all, I look forward to seeing how Bungie differentiates itself from other shooters as it continues its ambitious journey toward a truly unique title. If you would like to know more about Destiny check out this ridiculously awesome community made video showcasing what is known so far. It’s… It’s awesome. New Info on Titanfall’s Weapons, Progression and More Emerge; No Rumble for Xbox One’s Triggers. Source: http://www.dualshockers.com/2014/03/02/new-info-on-titanfalls-weapons-progression-and-more-emerge-no-rumble-for-xbox-ones-triggers/ Titanfall is approaching its release fast, and Respawn Entertainment is shedding light on several aspects of the game , giving us a better idea of what we can expect on March 11th. Community Manager Abbie Heppe shared on Twitter that the full game will include more weapons for pilots than those that were shown by the beta. We also learn that XP distribution will be different depending on what mode we’ll play. Many hoped that the game would support the rumble feature of the Xbox One’s triggers at launch, but Ms. Heppe mentioned that unfortunately that won’t happen, which is a pity considering that many see Titanfall as the console’s upcoming killer application. In addition to this, she wrote that she doesn’t believe that stats will transfer from the Xbox 360 to the Xbox One version of the game, but she’ll get confirmation on that (we’ll post an update as soon as she does). Respawn’s co-founder Vince Zampella also mentioned that the problems that plagued gamers trying to play on PC with an Intel HD video card have been solved by Intel itself, but a video driver update will be required. There are only nine days left to the fall of the Titans. Is your body ready?

Destiny Trading Cards Unlock Mysterious In-Game Content Source: http://mp1st.com/2014/03/01/destiny-trading-cards-unlock-mysterious-game-content/#/2014/03/01/destiny-trading-cards-unlock-mysterious-game-content/#.UxLOBHh6it9 A handful of Destiny trading cards have been discovered that hold keys to unannounced in-game content. According to reports, the cards were handed out by members of the Bungie team throughout various shows last summer. Each unique trading card carries a download code that can be redeemed by any number of users, meaning they can be shared by more than one person. It’s currently unknown what sort of content each code unlocks, but it could more than likely have something to do with the card’s theme. Thanks, Desti-Nation. Below is the current list of trading cards and download codes known so far. It’s likely that more will be discovered as we near Destiny’s official launch. The codes can be redeemed on Bungie’s official code redemption portal which can be found right here. 1.Warlock \\ YKA-RJG-MH9 2.Hunter \\ 3DA-P4X-F6A 3.Titan \\ MVD-4N3-NKH 4.Rixis \\ TCN-HCD-TGY 5.Old-Russia \\ HDX-ALM-V4K 6.Hive \\ 473-MXR-3X9 7.Moon \\ JMR-LFN-4A3 8.Gjallorhorn \\ HC3-H44-DKC 9.Duke MK.44 \\ 69P-KRM-JJA 10.The Tower \\ 69P-VCH-337 11.The Hive, Ogre \\ 69R-CKD-X7L 12.Valley of the kings, Mars \\ 69R-DDD-FCP 13.The Fallen \\ 69R-F99-AXG 14.Red Death \\ 69R-VL7-J6A 15.The Cabal \\ 69X-DJN-74V 16.The Devastated Coast, Venus \\ 6A7-7NP-3X7 17.Vex Minotaur \\ 6A9-DTG-YGN Destiny launches on consoles September 9 with a beta incoming this summer.

Halo 5 Toy Hints at Boltshot's Return. http://www.gameranx.com/updates/id/20547/article/halo-5-toy-hints-at-boltshot-s-return/ Halo 5 developer 343 Industries has released of a Master Chief toy from the company’s upcoming first-person shooter. The Xbox One project has few details at this time, but Todd McFarlane’s take on the Xbox brand’s biggest hero is holding a piece of hardware that looks to makes it return in the Xbox One project. The Z-110 Directed Energy Pistol, better known as the Boltshot, is being grasped by Chief in the above image. The Promethean Forerunner weapon was first featured in Halo 4, and while most of the angry Halo commenters would argue that the gun is a bit overpowered, it’s likely that 343 has done some work with the weapon in order to make it as balanced as possible. It’s just a toy, though. For now, we’re not even sure if the thing’s actually going to be featured in the game. Unfortunately, we don’t even have an exact release date for Halo 5. Most of the rumors place it in next year’s release calendar, but we’ll likely hear more when E3 rolls around this summer.

“Halo 5″ Still Not Confirmed, Xbox Magazine March Issue Scans Surface http://mp1st.com/2014/02/23/halo-5-coming-year-according-xbox-magazine/#/2014/02/23/halo-5-coming-year-according-xbox-magazine/#.Uwo5xHh6it9 As revealed via these scans of the issue found on Reddit, the magazine admits to the stretch, writing that the game’s dev team insists on referring to it as “Halo for Xbox One,” not Halo 5. The writing also points to a rumor suggesting the launch of a Halo 5 beta this year, though no source was given. 343 Industries is undoubtedly on track to launch a new title in the Halo universe this year, as the game’s senior PR manager confirmed last month. But aside from this piece of concept art coming directly from the studio and the game’s initial teaser trailer, we have little to go by with regards to the game’s ambiguous title. More recent rumors suggest a “Halo 2 Anniversary”, when Master Chief voice actor said what gamers can “look forward to this year is an anniversary edition of Halo 2″. Updated: 2-23-2014 Halo 5 Will be Released in 2014 According to Official Xbox Magazine Cover. http://www.dualshockers.com/2014/02/21/halo-5-will-be-released-in-2014-according-to-official-xbox-magazine-cover/ Right in the middle of the cover of the upcoming March issue of the Official Xbox Magazine, that you can see below, you can read “Halo 5: It’s coming this year!” While we don’t know yet if it’s true, as there hasn’t been any announcement directly from Microsoft, the official Xbox Magazine is supposed to have solid ties with the the publisher in Redmond, so it’s possible. Yet, we should definitely take this with a big pinch of salt until Microsoft actually announces a release window, cover or not. What we do know is that the magazine sports a few pieces of concept artwork showcasing the world of the game, but whether the game is really coming out this year or not, your guess is as good as mine.

Bungie talks newbie and veteran player interaction for 'Destiny'. http://www.examiner.com/article/bungie-talks-newbie-and-veteran-player-interaction-for-destiny An interesting question to ask when it comes to Destiny is how the player interaction between rookies and veterans will play out, but this is hopefully something Bungie has thought about and will make it a seamless transition for players of all abilities. Recently, Bungie Studios' David Dague discussed how the development team is planning on balancing newbies and veterans as they choose to play together. "Whether you’re a veteran or a newbie, we want you to have opportunities to enjoy the action available in Destiny. "It’s very important to us that Destiny doesn’t throw up obstacles between players who want to play with each other. No matter when a player decides to join the world of the game, they’ll be able to play with friends who have already become more powerful. "This was very important to us as we started to develop the ways that people would share the experiences in this game," Dague said. When you were playing with someone who was a much higher level in Borderlands 2, remember how difficult it was to kill any enemy? It was nearly impossible, granted the person you were playing with would be able to take down enemies and help you level up faster, but hopefully there will be some balancing of this in Destiny, allowing players of lower levels to defeat enemies too. When you look at the scope of Destiny and how big this game is going to be, there will no doubt be players of all skill levels jumping in and out of the action, day-in and day-out. It would behoove Bungie to go ahead and make sure inexperienced players can keep up and enjoy playing with those who have invested more time into the game. It's a 10 year project, Destiny is, so it'll also be interesting to see if characters will carry over from this first installment to the second, but that is jumping the gun a bit too much right now. Destiny will be launching this coming Sept. 9th. For all of our latest exclusives, previews, reviews and features, follow us on Twitter and like us on Facebook. Game On. Thanks, XB1.
