  1. See what I don't understand is, the Game Informer link made it sound like Power Weapons could end up in Loadouts...now maybe those parts of the customization only apply to certain playlists, because there's no way that applies to the general game. 343 has already said that you will have Power Weapon drops. what would be the point of having weapons on the battlefield at all if you could just customize them in? I can really see having things like the BR, AR, carbines, Pistols, etc etc. being customizable, but Power Weapons have always been a huge part of Halo's map design and gameplay flow.
  2. I agree that the post H3 halos are not giving skill its due, but seems to me like you valued being able to say your superior to people just a bit more than rather the game was actually fun or not. Not saying people shouldn't look for a skill system which rewards skill, in fact, what I want is to keep the credits of Reach but throw H3's ranking back in...all that said, what matters most is how fun the game is, for everyone. Halo's biggest value is in the game play for the general population, not how competitive a select few can make it.
  3. Yeah, its looking more and more like this stuff is legit. Thanks for the compliment though, same to you!
  4. You...are an @sshole. Seriously, if no one had hissy fits when things didn't go there way, all hell would break loose...yeah, its fine if some people are mellow and go with the flow. The only reason they are able to is because there are bitchers and complainers making sure their sometimes valid complaints are heard.
  5. On a further note...this player has REACHED a certain level of competency...HAH! man, I'm good. LOLercoaster right there. Just kidding. That joke sucked.
  6. Not a chance in hell that Reach measures Skill...no matter how much you suck you could hypothetically reach the highest rank with enough time invested...its just that simple. Sure, people who play the game more and are thus higher ranks are more likely to be actually good but even still, Reach does not directly measure skill. 3's does...and I'm not uber competitive, hell, I never even reached 50 in Halo 3, but nontheless Its important that at a certain level, ranks actually start to represent something, like "This player has reached a certain level of competency."
  7. I'd envision the DMR being larger caliber, small fire rate, better at Range...probably a better choice versus vehicles as well. Im assuming the DMR will be one of the start weapons we can choose.
  8. Perhaps it should just be optical noob vision? But seriously, you take Firefight...its basically Halo copying Horde Mode or CoD zombies, whatever you prefer...and theres absolutely nothing wrong with that. But what if it had been called "Legion"? Spartan Ops is about as similiar to Spec Ops,
  9. You'd think 343 would have came up with the final names before these things came out...having in game currency is fine (though I hope they bring back skill based ranking as well) as is having separate campaign-esque episodes...is it like CoD? Yeah, but not in bad ways. But Spartan points just sounds clunky, and Spartan Ops just sounds like Spec Ops...I don't know if game companies change the name of announced features that much, but I really hope 343 does. That definitely contributes to my doubts here...if 343 doesnt have the basic sense not to name their features these things, how will they have sense to do more complicated things right?
  10. Its pretty unreasonable for people to say "Oh its going to suck!" AND its pretty unreasonable for people to say "Oh theres no way its going to be like CoD". Well duh, its not going to be completely like CoD but only an idiot would say these things are not CoD or Battle-field esque. We have to bite the bullet and accept the fact that for better or for worse Halo is being modernized in totality and that means its more like its contemporaries. The bottom line is this; Its perfectly fair to say H4 can be good or it can be bad...with all of these features, they could go either way. If badly implemented and imbalanced (and I think there is a high risk for that considering the quantity of major changes) Halo 4 could easily disappoint. Halo and its community (us) is being brought into 2012 kicking and screaming...rather that is a good or a bad thing remains to be seen. But, lets be fair here, Halo is becoming more CoD/BF3 esque and that carries allot of risks. That said, on one hand, I am much more nervous now then I was before the leak, on the other hand, 343's got balls and there is a decent chance that they will pull this off and reinvent and reinvigorate the franchise. So...we shall wait and see. I'm no longer cautiously optimistic but hopefully apprehensive.
  11. The title is a bit of an exaggeration...of course there are some legitimate gameplay gripes to be had in the update BUT nonetheless I think a big part of what is ******** people off is the names. For example, what pisses you off more? Credits? Or "Spartan Points"? How about if it was "Special Optics" instead of "Forerunner vision"? And perhaps the biggest..."Spartan Ops"? Who knows if this will be what these things are named at launched but with the latest link, all the new materials nomenclature either falls under 1) CoD esque or 2) Clunky and Dumb. If these things were just named something more appropriate we would not be having the current (well justified) hissy fit that we are having!
  12. Reach and 3's voting systems both had their advantages...so why not combine them? Give people 3 map options but instead of "none of the above" give a random game map option...that way, no matter what, your in game after 1 round of voting AND even though its not quite as random as 3's voting system, a bit more variety is introduced. I would also support seeing a return of Halo 3's rankings, only replace experience with credits.
  13. No. For better or worse "nostalgia" just went out the window...oh it might very well be great and feel like Halo. But its not going to be Bungies Halo. I'm not worried that any one feature is inherently bad. I'm worried that many of these new features carry a high risk of someone at 343 f'ing them up. I do find it funny how everyone is saying "Im gonna start with a magnum" versus a guy with a BR. But this is ridiculous...we have PRIMARY and SECONDARY weapons...we can assume that Primary players will have either the BR, the AR or both as default with things like the Carbines, DMR, Silenced SMG (I hope) as unlocks. Secondary weapons will have magnum. But its not like you'll have a crappy pistol with nothing else to go up against the BR. At worst, you might have to start with the AR and level up to the BR. Horrible for all you BR pros (of which I am not one), but will that be a tragedy? No...Besides, its most likely that 343 will make you able to choose the BR or the AR.
  14. Im definitely concerned more than I am happy about this leak...its not that the changes are automatically bad its just that they have a high chance of being bad. Seems like allot of changes too far, too fast, with allot of chances to f things up...not what 343 should be doing when they have to prove their chops as stewards of Halo. Point is, they shouldn't be trying to reinvent the wheel when they haven't even shown they know how to make a wheel yet.
  15. Seeing all 15 of the scans in their pages, it looks way too elaborate to be a fake. Frankie has come out and said basically its allot of stuff being taken out of context, not out and out lies. That's comforting because as said elsewhere, instant spawn and random weapon drops could be just fine, really awesome even, in the right context. What worries me most is the choice of name, if that is not BS. "Spartan Ops"? Hey, who knows, could be awesome, sounds just fine, but Spartan ops? It does not reflect well on 343s decision making when they have chosen a name so similiar to CoD.
  16. The article merely suggested that certain "abilities" will be in. It is the context of how those abilities are acquired and used that counts. Other than that, the leak sheds very little light on what the custom system will be like, which is the crux.
  17. Seems to me that if the thing isnt downright fake, which its looking more and more like it isn't, the "leak" was a monstrous misrepresentation of reality. The only thing which I really didn't like which I know for sure (assuming the leak is real) is that Elites aren't returning in MP. But I can handle that...with all the other things, Random weapon spawns, instant spawn, etc etc. it can all be taken way out of context. Though, that still doesn't erase the fact that Spartan Ops? Spartan Points? Terrible way to name things considering how everyone is ready to bare their teeth over even the slightest likeness to CoD. Im withholding judgment until I have the magazine in my hands.
  18. Things like instant spawn and random weapon drops could work in certain contexts. Drop pods would be good in an invasion style playlist, Instant spawn in action sack etc etc. The "leak" gives the impression that these things are global. Allot of what makes the article irritating is the nomenclature. Spartan Ops? There is just no effing way that is the actual name of the feature. 343 could not possibly be that dumb. Okay, if they actually are that dumb I might not buy the game.
  19. Posted this in OP as well. If you look at the pics in the context of the scans how fake they look really jumps out.
  20. Not necessary. The links in other posts and you can simply do a google search for Halo 4 news.
  21. The pictures make it look like customizable start weapons too...in theory, I have no problem with that, but this just isn't the kinda thing 343 should be thinking about.
  22. Not going to start complaining about all these "revelations" until 343 can confirm rather this stuff is true...another valid point is that in certain things revealed in the links could actually be very good in certain contexts, not applied to the total game. Have my fingers crossed that 343 is going to tell us this stuff is bull****. There are all sorts of cool changes that 343 could make...these are not those changes. Really going to be disappointing if members in the community immediately start saying "chill out, adapt, these changes could be okay." If things like Instant Spawns and random weapon drops are the rule for the new game, an immediate and very pissed off outcry is needed against 343. HOPEFULLY its all BS. Update: Actually seeing the pictures in their full scans several things occurred to me...there is no picture from a new level or campaign environment. The elites look like heavily photo shopped versions of the elites from Halo Reach and if one looks at pics with the AR and custom scope on the DMR they really look like they were just edited in. Update: Frankie has come out and said essentially, its all taken out of context, which is reassuring but I'm still concerned. That, and he repeated the standard, "It still feels like Halo". I'm getting pretty tired of hearing that argument, but I guess we will have to wait and see.
  23. How often does this happen to you? Do you manage to get your hands on the power weapons every single game? They system might need "improvement" but its unfair to say it "sucks". The game is not broke because of this.
  24. And we should conclude what based on this?
  25. It really is worth pointing out with this that this simply is not a big issue and there are definitely more important things to be attended to. 343 shouldn't be spending an inordinate amount of time improving what is already a decent time, especially so since any possible solution they implement has at least a big a chance of unfairly restricting peoples freedom as actually being effective. If you are having so many problems with betrayers such that you disagree with that, its likely your doing something wrong in game.
