But Medals have reached and exceeded that point with Halo 4...they were on their way there with Reach...I mean, I think having a medal for "First Strike" or "Combine Kill" was pushing that limit as is...I was consistently seeing people in the MLG H4 footage literally getting at least 2 medals per kill.

We already have way too many awards from my perspective...isn't it enough that you get points for Assists? I mean, watching the MP footage, one thing I definitely hate is that your getting 3 or 4 awards for relatively normal kills. Awards should actually mean something. And lets be absolutely honest here...giving points for assists seems very fair, but at some point, theres a point at which people who do not get as much kills should not get too many more points to compensate for that fact...they should be learning how to get more kills. We can't pretend that if someone gets 20 kills and someone gets 20 assists, the person with 20 assists just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time to get the finishing shot every single time. Kills are a better indication of skill then assists and thats the bottom line.

Nah. Any franchise can be a big deal and effect people, thats hardly what defines the Franchise. Are LOTR or Harry Potter trying to be like Star Wars simply beacuse they try to be a big deal? What defines the thing is, you know, the thing itself, not people's reaction to it.

Heres the bottom line: They should get a better ranking system that mixes stuff from Reach and Halo 3. There are definitely merits to both systems, even if I favor Halo 3's system. Note that I'm not a hardcore or particularly pro player. Simple truth is, a number, albeit flawed, which represents some measure of skill and correlates with your rank is simply a very good thing. As Twin says, it might very well be a "virtual ***** size" (though that language might be a bit extreme) thats still completely arbitrary but its still a better system than simply having ranks based on exp. Reach might have behind the scenes matchmaking every bit as good as Halo 3, though it does not display that. At the very least, its not as intuitive as H3's system. All that said, H3's system was very very imperfect. Booster accounts, which I think Silvi may have been suggesting he had, are stupid, a complete waste of time, and they should be stopped. With regards to yalls argument, Silvi, you need to stop being so damn emotionally invested in a video game, worse yet, in a single element of a video game. Competitive play is good but it aint everything. Twin, we all know your the Tech Guru. I have absolutely no doubt that Silvi uttered allot of incorrect nonsense. That said, the other guys have a point that being able to code and network doesnt mean jack **** if you don't have a good sense of what actually works in game or not. Being able to move around troops and bark orders really well doesnt mean much if you arent a good strategist, to use an analogy (or metaphor? I always get them confused.) So both of you please, you've beat this into the dirt. Also don't appreciate Silvi how you seemed to invite peopl unto this forum simply for the purpose of supporting you, thats if you didn't simply make new accounts and post those things supporting you. It just ain't classy.

I don't think the industry suffers from a lack of difficulty, it suffers from a lack of quality and creativity. Cliif should be worrying more about plots that make sense, characters that are engaging, and enemies that are actually menacing. Besides, Cliff's idea of "higher difficulty" is probably a simple (and fairly uninteresting) stat boost to the AI enemies, rather than a change of their AI behavior to make them more challenging tactically. GOW 2 and 3 seemed just fine in terms of difficulty...it was in other areas that they suffered.

I think in one of the books theres stuff about ONI trying to generate rebel factions inside Elite society and that might partially explain where these renegade elites are coming from. Doesn't explain how they essentially have recreated the covenant military heirarchy though, unless the Jackals and Grunts are still serving under the Elites for protection.
