  1. The 343Industries Community Forum Forge Project Have you ever gotten into a game of matchmaking or a custom game and go, “I would have done this map/gametype differently?” Have you ever wished for more maps in any of the Halo games? Have you tried making maps that just don’t quite work? Have you made a map but have never been able to test it? Have you ever looked for some tips on how to forge a gametype, a certain size map, or just learn to forge in general? If you answered “Yes” to any of these questions, do not dismay; you have come to the right place. I am pleased to introduce the Community Forge Project (CFP), an ongoing project dedicated to making maps, by and for the community. Over the next couple of months, many members will have time off from school and other commitments and will want to play in many playdates and show-off their maps. This is the perfect time to build a large playlist of community made maps, which can be used in playdates regularly. With the forums as a base point for collaboration, the community can design multiple maps for various gametypes and share ideas on the general map themes, flow, and expected play styles it will adhere to. For instance: The community can get together and share ideas for a competitive map. These ideas include general themes, location, and the focused gametypes. Using programs such as Google Sketch-Up, the forum can create the generic layout of the map. After collaboration of the generic design of the map, and discussion of possible problems and ways to deal with them, members can get together to forge the map. After the base of the map is constructed and tweaked to fit, testing by the community will commence. And, as I like to say, “test the problems out of it.” The point of the tests is to pinpoint problems and correct them. After a map is deemed complete, it will be officially added into the CFP Mappack. By the end of this summer, there should be a considerable amount of maps in almost every category of gametypes, and the maps can be showcased in playdates or released at playdates throughout the summer. With many design programs being free and easy info sharing, it would be easy for members could partake in various projects at once. This is a fairly new addition to any Halo forum, and aims to attract and find many aspiring forgers. In addition, Forge mentoring would be very easy, and like any project using multiple forgers, maps are shared and people learn their forging strengths, weaknesses, and get decent tips. I hope you will consider joining the community’s forge project over the next couple of months. The Community Forge Project will begin towards the end of May, allowing for members to finish strong on finals and prepare some ideas. I will be happy to answer any questions here. 4. Happy International Star Wars Day

  5. I must say, Downton Abbey is a great show, and worth the time.

  6. Well, 41 awards for 1000 posts are out there, however, that does include some banned members that had awards removed. I was 33rd overall to reach the 1000 post mark back in November. But congratulations, and welcome to the club.

  8. The recon is auto unlocked after playing for awhile on Halo 3, don't worry
  9. 1. I'd say yes 2. That's why he never hooked up with Cortana 3. Well, that's Activision for you 4. Figures 5. Don't talk like that 6. It's okay, he's actually JB 7. Well, it would happen sooner or later 8. Just wouldn't happen 9. Didn't Swift already date JB?
  10. I believe the update went in effect this past Monday the 29th. I have noticed that the jip I had was much earlier in games, and for some playlists, JIP was only available in the first two or three minutes, depending on the gametype.

  12. I can concur with this, that forge island is bad for certain things. I was expecting a boost in number of placeable pieces to match Reach's count. Instead, some of the pieces, such as windows, inclines, and platforms are now more limited in number. My suggestion, use a curve control, instead of verticality. Bend the map a little and make some sub bases the replacement for vertical change.
  13. Well, I'm surprised, # 2 is still unsolved. Give it another shot: http://www.343industries.org/forum/topic/27425-forum-mind-puzzles-2/ So, I decided to go back to another word puzzle. This is quite amusing if you know the answer, and stumped me for a couple of weeks when I first heard it. The Puzzle: An explorer was exploring (no duh) a remote part of the Amazon, when he was captured by cannibals. Surprisingly, these cannibals spoke the explorer's language and loved logic puzzles. The explorer was brought before the chief of the cannibals and was told tk speak his last words. If what he spoke was true, then the cannibals would roast him at the stake. If what he spoke was false, they would boil him in oil. The explorer thought for a moment, and spoke he last words. Perplexed by his answer, and realizing he was a genius for his answer, had no choice but to let him go. What did he say? Solved by RedStarRocket91 8 minutes after this was posted

  15. What I have missed a lot from Halo 3 was the various types of basic slayer (regular, BR's, duals). I understand there was slayer and slayer pro in Reach and halo 4, but it isn't the same. In Halo 4, the only games that everyone has the same loadouts in is Team Throwdown, SWAT, Snipers, Grifball, or action sack. Every couple of weeks I boot up Halo 3 to play in those games, where teamwork, skill, power weapons, and positioning were the major factors, not a rock paper scissors of the best armor abilities.
  16. Many people actually suck with the BR, mainly it deals with how the person plays, but what I don't get, how people can't beat the campaign on normal.
  17. If you have live, play the mission with a friend. Have them do host the mission and have them fire it, it should revert your mission/game's save on the mission.
  18. Spectacular! This is great, and has more than decent merit to the hypothesis. The only other thing I would add is the possibility of the return or involvement of the Precursors in one form or another. There is one alive precursor in the galaxy, and the flood are a planned mutation of the precursors. It may be possible that the flood could de-evolve, but adding in the Precursors at this point would be a little hard to do.
  19. Looks like a map to try out. I'll see if I can get some play time in on it soon.

  21. Well, there are no announced immediate plans for DLC, but with all of the other Halo games, there were 3 map packs of 3 maps each released The first couple of months and one slightly bigger one later. So mostly more maps tk come. Also, there is a very good version of Blood Gulch, the map Hemorrhage is based off of,out in the community. It plays exactly like it was in Reach you just need to find it.
