  1. The Boltshot does not have the same effective distance as a Scattershot or a shotgun. At 5 forge blocks away the Boltshot does the same amount of damage (2/3 of shields) as the Scattershot at 8 blocks away, and that is not factoring in the fact that the Boltshot has a cooldown, requires good timing, and makes a loud warning noise before firing. The argument about times to kill isn't valid though because that's not what matters. They can balance weapons in other ways than TTK as they have done very well with the boltshot.
  2. Throughout the history of the Halo franchise there have been quite a few OP weapons but the Halo 4 Boltshot is not one of them. I'm willing to bet that the majority of people who are on here complaining about the Boltshot were recently killed by it and decided they needed a place to rage... However, when you look at it with a level head the Boltshot is not OP at all. At least not OP unless you want to consider the Plasma Pistol and double Melee OP as well. Despite what people seem to be saying the range that one can realistically get a one shot on somebody with the Boltshot is very small and just shy from being point blank. The videos I have seen of people getting one shots with the Boltshot from 10 feet away were very good shots and deserving of it. We're talking about landing all 5 shots in the head despite the ridiculously large spread. So assuming that the Boltshot is only feasibly one-shot at just outside of melee distance then you have to ask yourself what makes it different from the Plasma Pistol + DMR/BR combo. It this regard the Plasma Pistol is even more powerful because it has a range that spans far more vast distances. Also you have to look at the effect that Sprint has had on the double melee. Since one can rack up a double melee kill so quickly now it's really not fair to call the Boltshot OP without calling Sprint OP. So here is the facts that balance the Boltshot... *Boltshot is only feasibly one-shot at just outside of melee range. *Have to charge the shots and cannot hold for anything but a short period of time. (Requires good timing) *Grenades, Promethean Vision, Taking wide berths when going around a corner all render the Boltshot ineffective. *If you don't get the one shot you are genuinely screwed. *Charged shot takes up half of the clip and causes a small cooldown before any follow up shots.
  3. The OP isn't wrong. The people he's talking about are probably better served not complaining at all. Here's the thing though... Can anybody honestly say that threads like this are going to help anything. And if not then why post it. And that beating your wife analogy is obviously under different circumstances.
  4. Halo 4 hasn't been out long enough to really determine this. However from what I've played so far I prefer Halo 3's spin on things.
  5. Well it's a continuation of the Halo storyline in a sense. So yes it is money well spent
  6. Well to me the real bright comedic moments in past Halos was always the Grunt hilarious comical relief from an otherwise serious dramatic story-line. For some reason they decided to discontinue that in Halo 4. Not the greatest development decision in my opinion. So other than the previously mentioned moment... No...
  7. Yeah that's another thing. The way they force you to time your shots if you're planning on ambushing somebody isn't easy at all.
  8. You are complaining about them what separates you from the rest of them. 1) These threads add zero to the website. The threads you are bashing actually contribute more than this one. 2) This site chooses to allow people to voice their opinion. I believe that yesterday one of our orange site mods said the same thing so that's what I am basing this off of. 3) Your fourth point is actually pretty good advice.
  9. To be honest, in all of my playtime in Halo 4 I have been frustruated by the Boltshot only one time. Here's the mechanics that balance it out. *Shotgun blast only works just outside of melee range. *Shotgun blast takes up half a clip of ammo. *Shotgun blast can only be held for so long. (Makes it far far inferior to a shotgun or scattershot) *Really not that much more effective than a melee and headshot or a plasma pistol charge and headshot/melee.
  10. First you must buy a copy of Halo 4... I suggest griping the steering-wheel firmly as you make your way to Game-stop to pick up a copy.
  11. Avoid the bullets... Avoid them...
  12. Welcome to the forums
  13. Neither. It isn't overpowered because of its effective range and low mobility, but it also doesn't add anything to the maps they've included it in (personal opinion). I preffered the wraith on Valhalla.
  14. 343i has decided to rotate the playlists every week or so. In my opinion Team Snipers is so popular that it should be a permanent playlist. In your case if you bought Halo 4 entirely for Team Snipers then you are out of luck and will just have to wait for either it's next rotation or 343i to change its mind and add it as a permanent playlist.
  15. As much as I share your love for Halo 3 ODST I believe that 343i stated that they weren't going to do any side games while they are developing this part of the trilogy.
  16. I have it is insane. I should have figured double XP into my original math. Of course the other option would be to increase XP output for your standard War Games match. If you were to do that, however, leveling up might go too quickly.
  17. Ok for starters dont get me wrong this game has an amazing campaign, which is the only reason im glad i bought it (Agreed). Second the multiplayer is just down right terrible. (It's not for everyone I guess) Only 3 maps ever get voted and its boring as hell (I feel you here even if I wouldn't say that it is boring... just slightly repitetive). The Dmr is so dang overpowered that it makes the game no fun because i wanna use the br and carbine but theres no point when i can you a gun with a higher kill rate and more power (The OP is 1000% about this one. If you play H4 right now there is little to no reason to even touch the BR or Carbine unless you actually think that they are better at mid range or for Nostalgia purposes), it takes the variety out of it. I know its only the third week but the only updates they put out are stupid ass playlists (There is probably an update in the making. Is it logical to say that because they haven't released an official balancing update or patch that they shouldn't try to improve the game in other ways as well?). On a match today on ragnarock (which i think is the worst map on the game) i couldnt even jump in my own base without getting sniped/dmr'ed. It was impossible to get a kill and it was rediculous (Sounds more like you were playing a team that out-skilled you). I personally loved halo 3. I spend over 5 days of multiplayer on it and had a blast all the time with my friends. But now its just boring as crap and i play one match and i pop out the disk and decide to play a half ass decent game, unlike halo 4. If i could sell halo 4 and get my 60 wasted bucks back, i would go and buy BO 2 with a huge smile on my face knowing i dont have halo piece of **** 4 anymore. (Shouda Cuada Wouda)
  18. Huh that's a good find you have noticed there. It would have probably been a more satisfying ending if you had to fight your way through hordes of Covenant and Prometheans. Perhaps this is setting up a larger role for Jul 'Mdama in Halo 5.
  19. It seems to be about 48% Ragnarok, 48% Exile, 2% Vortex, and 0% Meltdown. It's a shame because I don't like Exile at all and Ragnarok gets really old fast. Vortex is my favorite because I am a huge ghost fan.
