It is completely plausible for the Didact to survive something like that. Also you seem to forget that the Chief walked away from a nuclear blast unscathed. Yes, I am aware that Cortana shielded him. However Forerunner also have A.I. While it wasn't very clear if he had one in is armor. There wasn't a reason for him not to have one. so his Ancilla could have boosted his Hardlight shielding around the Pulse Grenade or maybe he did it himself. On another note: Master Chief has survived two falls from space. Three if you want to count the crash landing onto the Halo in the first game. The Didact, with better armor, should be able too as well.

The chances of him being alive or dead is 50/50. Honestly there's not enough evidence to disprove either option. On one hand, the Didact took a direct hit from a Pulse Grenade and then fell into the destructive energy of the Composer. And if he somehow survived passing through that he would have fallen to Earth. However! The Didact had the highest rated Combat skin which is many times stronger than the Master Chief's. If any armor could take a point blank grenade, it would be the Didact's. He would also be able to survive the rays of the Composer considering he experimented on himself with it and changed his genetic makeup. In the same way that happened to the Chief to make him immune to the Composer's effects. There's also a chance that he could survive a fall to Earth. After all the Master Chief has done that several times. so really, it's too early to be able to tell if he's alive or not. Although there's a slightly stronger case for him being alive. Especially since killing off the main antagonist in the first game of a trilogy is weird.

I would imagine that sarah Palmer will be the voice in the Chief's ear, considering that she is the Commander of all spartans aboard the Infinity. Other than that Dr. Halsey could also fill that role. Roland would not be a good choice as he is a ship A.I. and is needed to remain on the Infinity.

Incorrect. While it may be true that the Flood was manufactured by the Precursors as their revenge on their "children" race, the Forerunners. The Flood's intent was not their eradication. The Flood's only intent is to consume until nothing is left before moving on to the next populated area. To support this, the Forerunner did not know the Flood even existed until after they punished the Ancient Humans for their apparent unprovoked aggression towards peaceful worlds. The shield worlds were an alternative program to the Halo Array, proposed by the Ur-Didact(maybe the Bornstellar-Didact, I forget which). They were later integrated into the Halo Array as bunkers that would protect the remaining Forerunner from the destruction the Halo's would unleash. And Requiem is the only shield world that has Prometheans present as they were exiled to the shield world along with the Ur-Didact for his acts of Composing a large number of Ancient Humans. While the Ancient Humans were experimenting with the Powder they found on the ship, it didn't escape. They willingly fed it to their favorite livestock to bring out more pleasurable traits. The Ancient san'shyum also did this. Eventually strange growths appeared on the animals as the Powder kept mutating the animals. The livestock would begin to consume each other and the mutations became more extreme with each passing day. And then it spread to the Ancient Humans and san'shyum. Becoming Proto versions of the Flood we know today. The Ancient Humans did everything in their power to halt the spread the Infestation. Even if it meant destroying entire worlds. Without knowing the reasons the Forerunner thought the Ancient Humans were becoming aggressive without cause and set out to stop them. The Ancient Humans were now fighting a war on two fronts. Victory seemed impossible. Until they discovered a way to finally overcome the Infestation. It was a bittersweet accomplishment as it took a large toll on the Ancient Human population and even though they drove the Flood out of the Galaxy; they were no longer able to defend against the Forerunners. Around fifty-thousand years later the Flood returns begins it's assault on the Forerunners. Not knowing how the Ancient Humans drove them off the first time, they were severely disadvantaged which would lead to them almost losing entirely. But as we know they managed to stop the spreading of the Flood with the Halo Array at a great cost. It wasn't their fault for overlooking the Flood the very first time, as the Ancient Humans just did not have time to warn them or give a reason to their destroying planets. If they had they wouldn't have been able to keep up with the initial Infestation. And again, the intent of the initial Infestation was not to solely eradicate the Forerunners. It was to consume. As is the intent of all manifestations of the Flood. At it's base level the Flood is a very basic lifeform. A parasite. It has no mind of it's own until a Gravemind is formed. If their intent was the eradication of the Forerunners, they would have not fought against only the Ancient Humans. It is also safe to say we did face the full ferocity of the Flood. The Gravemind was very adamant about stopping the activation of the Lesser-Ark. so much so that he brought the entirety of his Flood force to that Installation. And yet, Humanity came out on top.

I haven't read beyond the first page yet, so I apologize for any repeat in information/theories. There was a sort of brevet mutation that happened with the Chief, however since he is not Forerunner his outward appearance did not change. At least not as drastically as when Forerunners would undergo such a mutation. John's was an internal change. A change specifically to his DNA that would allow him to survive an encounter with the Composer. He is still very much Human. Albeit a much more evolved Human. The Ur-Didact(Original) wasn't killed. He just went missing if I remember correctly. The Bornstellar Didact was the one that fired the Halo Array, but sometime before that the Librarian locked the Ur-Didact away in that Cryptum for his obsession with using the Composer as a means to fight the Flood. You are partially correct. The Librarian planted "seeds" in the cataloged Human's genetics. These "seeds" were the sole reason that John AND Dr. Halsey would come to exist. I imagine the same was for the other spartans as well since they all had special genes also. I don't believe the "seeds" were like the Geas' that Chakas had. Mostly because Chakas' was given the spirit of the Lord of Admirals and the code for the Ur-Didact's Cryptum. John never really had any similar experiences like that. Not until his pseudo-brevet mutation anyways. Dr. Halsey, however, did have some odd things happen. she was able to understand some Forerunner Glyphs even though she had no previous knowledge on them. And she's the only one to have made an A.I. from a living person, herself. In short I would only consider Dr. Halsey to have a Geas, while John had dormant genes. To get back to the original point, Master Chief is still Human. He just has some new genetic bits.

I think Dr. Halsey said it best when she was speaking with Noble Team. "... are you a puppet or a spartan?"

I love the Pulse! True, it does have a learning curve, but when you get a kill with it it's oh so satisfying. My favorite is to throw it behind someone during a firefight and then making them back up into the aoe just in time for the implosion! It's also best on close quarters maps. Kinda useless on maps like Ragnarok and such.

I'm just going to go on a tangent, while still being on topic? Also there will be minor book spoilers. If you plan on reading the Forerunner Trilogy; skip this post. The similarities between Human and Forerunner weapons ( as far as both using hard projectiles instead of plasma) can be traced more than 150,000 years ago. Ancient Humans and Forerunner were both given life by the enigmatic Precursors that had reign over the Milky Way. Both were designed as bipedal and organic. While their cultures evolved and ultimately became much different, they still held similarities. e.g. Combat skins, starships, colonization, and so on. Their weapons also turned out to be similar. It seems that most organic tend to gravitate towards ballistic type weaponry. The Covenant's main armaments could be called an exception and I'll go on about that in a minute. 150,000 years ago Ancient Humans used ballistics like Hardlight--- New tangent approaching. something I just thought of while typing this... Ancient Humans had at some point learned how to reverse engineer Precursor tech after their(the Precursor's) "defeat" by the Forerunners. This could have resulted in the Hardlight technology for weapons. "But Eidolon, the Forerunners use Hardlight!" You may be thinking. And I'm getting to that. What I propose is that Ancient Humans came up with it first, and the Forerunners primarily used light/beam weapons at that time. Much like the beams that sentinels and Monitors use. However, if I remember correctly, after the Forerunners defeated the Ancient Humans they got rid of most, if not all, of their weaponry. And entered a short era of "peace" which left them dangerously unprepared for when the Flood returned. Having scraped their own weapons they could have turned to the Ancient Human Hardlight tech in a desperate move to defend themselves. That could be why the Hardlight guns resemble the Current Human's weapons so much. The connections being suppressor and Assault Rifle, scattershot and shotgun, Boltshot and Pistol, and so on. Those connections exist because both sets were created by Humans. And now about the Covenant's weapons. The many plasma guns were the result of the attempts of reverse engineering Forerunner technology. However with their limited understanding of the Forerunners they could only reach the Plasma stage. You can see how the Hardlight weapons influenced the many Plasma weapons. The Plasma Pistol has a similar design to that of the Boltshot and even shares it's Charging ability. The Plasma Rifle and storm Rifle are much like the suppressor. The Beam Rifle and Binary Rifle are also very similar and share the fact that they can only be shot twice before having to reload or cool down, however the Beam Rifle's shots can be timed to avoid cool down. And while against the Humans these weapons work really well; they are only reverse engineered Forerunner tech and overall that makes them inferior.

Halsey and Keyes never actually got married, but they had a child together(Miranda). And George wasn't her child, however just about all spartan II's saw Halsey as their Mother-figure.

After the events of Halo 3, the Covenant broke apart. The sanghelian(Elite) forces pretty much devastated the jiralhanae(Brutes) and forced them to retreat to their homeworld(s). Except for a few that they use as servants. Thus the jiralhanae military presence no longer exists. Not to mention that the particular Covenant sect that we fight against in Halo 4 is a much older group that had no contact with the bulk of the Covenant and most likely never got any jiralhanae units placed in their fleets. And that is why they are no longer an enemy. As for the spartans. They're all Human, just modified. spartan III's didn't receive the same augmentations that spartan II's did. Making them shorter overall, but they were trained from about the same age as the spartan II's. spartan IV's however were picked from current soldiers(if I remember correctly). And even if the Chief is just one foot shorter than a sangheili he'd need to jump on the back of one to get the upper hand, as sangheili are extremely strong. so really, none of it has anything to do with being lazy; it's all canonical.

Greetings! I was just looking at silentium's cover and noticed something. Now, this isn't much of a groundbreaking discovery or anything. But I thought it was neat. If it is what I think it is. Anyways, go ahead and take a look at the cover. Found here. If you look just above Mr. Bear's last name you will see a circular, spherical even, object. You will also notice a slight orange hue on the bottom portion of it. What else do we know is a big ball with orange light on it...? That's right! This guy! It could just be a coincidence, but why would the ball on the cover have orange, when the rest of the cover is colored with shades of blue. Anyways. Just thought it was interesting and wanted to share!
