  1. some issues with your theory: 1) humans and forerunners may be related, but definitely co-existed at the same time. look up human-forerunner war which was caused by the first human-flood war over 100,000 years b4 halo ce. so humans did not come from forerunners. 2) a singular consciousness doesn't "control" all its parts. that's like saying your conscious guides your every decision. it is a voice that you hear inside you, but not necessarily something you listen to all the time. 3) the text you referred to from primordium could be taken another way. because the gravemind, which is a collection of thoughts and memories from the flood collective, the gravemind only knows of life from a perspective of before (memories of those infected) and after (memories of those after infection) infection. so his "giving breath and shape and form" literally is him speaking of infecting creatures throughout the universe, not of creating forerunners or humans or covenant. he is speaking of the flood existing prior to the forerunners existence. which could be a clue as to what happened to the precursors (who we have no idea what they were, only that all forerunner, human and covenant technology makes leaps and bounds once its incorporated. 4) the will of the precursors is known as "the mantle". it essentially says to preserve all life and is what most forerunners, especially the librarian (didact's wife) followed. it was the whole problem with the builder, who used a halo ring on one of the homeworlds of the prophets to teach them a lesson when they tried to again rebel (human-forerunner war had humans and prophets siding together against forerunners). so the mysterious construct wasn't speaking about the will of the flood necessarily, but about the fact that the construct was betrayed by its own people. 5) further information that the gravemind from halo 2/3 is not the same gravemind as interacted with Didact is, he refers to his enemy as the forerunners. the forerunners were the last group to fight the flood. but prior to that, humans also fought the flood. so that would mean the gravemind from halo 2/3 did not know about the human-flood war that happened prior to the human-forerunner war. the only enemy he knew of was the last enemy. this also speaks to what TrueGhost said about the gravemind existing within the remaining flood from the first halo array activation. the flood that was left would only have memories of the forerunner-flood war, not of previous wars necessarily. furthermore, the new gravemind could also have been referring to the covenant as his enemy and not speaking about the forerunners. with all that said, interesting theory, could be possible, but seems like maybe some parts will play into it while others will not. all the info i refer to can be found on halo.wikia.com. human-forerunner war http://halo.wikia.com/wiki/Human-Forerunner_war
  2. http://halo.wikia.com/wiki/Rampancy Known Smart AIs http://halo.wikia.co...al_intelligence Serina, Melissa, Black Box, Eternal Spring, Endless Summer, Deep Winter, Wellsley, Araquiel, Kalmiya, Sif, Mack, Loki, Fitzgibbon, Lorelei. Of these, Unknown - Serina (spirit of fire), Lorelei No Record Lifespan Ending - Melissa Shut Down Pre-rampancy - Eternal Spring, Deep Winter, Black Box Planetary Explosion - Endless Summer, Mack (slightly rampant), Loki Ship Crash/Explosion - Wellsley, FitzGibbon Fail Safe - Araquiel, Kalmiya Another AI - Sif (slightly rampant) Black Box - Refused to take on human shape. Ruthless and effective. Only other Smart AI known to perform missions within a Spartan suit. Didn't want to "end up like Cortana" which suggests that her getting close to humans affected her processing due to emotions... Now if we are to assume Cortana has already hit stage 1 rampancy, wouldn't it have happened during Halo 3 when she was captured by Gravemind and sad, constantly trying to convince Master Chief to leave her?
  3. think about it like this...most human AI's turn rampant after 7 years. it's already been 8 and for the last year she has been making upgrades to Master Chief's suit and figuring out where they are and what move they should make. If she were slowly going rampant, wouldn't an occasional occurrence have already been happening and a weird suit malfunction occur? it's like she is only rampant when she is out of Master Chief's suit and she has to deal with another AI, which makes me believe it is not her becoming rampant, but her interaction as a lower AI to this forerunner/precursor technology.
  4. I disagree with Cortana going full rampant and dying off. Think about the origination of Cortana. I know many have only played the games, but Cortana is the cloned brain of Dr. Catherine Halsey. http://halo.wikia.com/wiki/Cortana. If you think about it, the only other AI they mention being some downloaded human was 343 guilty spark, which Didact performed. If you think about it, 343 guilty spark had to be functional for thousands of years since the activation of the halo rings. even though current human technology hasn't caught up to former forerunner/human technology of the past, the only AI built by the UNSC with a cloned human brain is Cortana which suggests her lifespan will be much greater than other AI's. On her one line everyone is trying to take out of context cuz she is loudly proclaiming something, it's obvious she is not talking to Master Chief. to me the pain she is exhibiting is someone hurting her, not rampancy. When she has displayed rampant behavior she is confused and talking in riddles that don't make sense, not writhing in pain and yelling nonsense to her only friend and partner in the Halo Universe. whoever she is yelling at is the villain or villain's helper who has located her or captured her, possibly torturing her trying to break down her security protocols to gain access to her functions. She is fighting against this entity, not yelling at Master Chief.
  5. this sounds like a movie based on the book, Fall of Reach. based on the perspective of Master Chief and his team complete with a space assault on a covenant ship, terrestrial assaults through covenant forces and a spaceship naval battle. tough to do in a movie and obviously tough to capture in a game cuz Halo Reach changed the story to fit the game play they wanted.
  6. http://halo.wikia.com/wiki/Unggoy Unggoy share a number of features with different animal species on Earth. Like primates, they walk both bipedally and with the aid of their over sized forearms albeit in a manner similiar to a chimpanzee. However, their bodies are armored with a hard exoskeleton as with crabs and insects. Their mouths have a set of small, pointed teeth, much like reptiles. However, the UNSC has classified them taxonomically as being most similar to Earth arthropods. Unggoy are on average about three to four feet tall and are relatively weak compared to other Covenant species. Although they can easily walk upright on two legs, they may often use their arms to move in a quadrupedal fashion. While carrying armaments, they are forced to walk upright so that they may support their weapons with their hands, but while trying to flee, or while patrolling without a weapon drawn, they use their over sized arms as forelegs to add speed or stability to their gait. Their eyesight and hearing is average, and seem to have a very well developed sense of smell, sometimes sniffing the air to detect traces of foes or hidden enemies.[10] This is facilitated through the olfactory membranes installed in their masks. also, I know in the book Fall of Reach, they have a large number of grunts against a spartan team (Master Chief led) running on all fours to attack as "cannon fodder", not running scared like in the gameplay cuz they were scared of Spartans.
  7. I definitely agree. The original Didact despised humans. When the forerunners won the human-forerunner war, many humans committed suicide rather than be subserviant to the forerunners. Didact destroyed human technology to de-evolve the species. He held respect for humans as technological foes, not as humans. the future Didact had more compassion for humans but that was due to a merging of the original Didact's memories and personality without his emotions. The truth is, its been thousands of years since the rings were activated before so Didact's opinion about humans for Halo 4 has to be up in the air on if he is leaning toward friend or foe. The Prefect AI theory also seems to be solid as an ancient figure who held contempt at being deactivated by the forerunners and sought revenge through releasing a virus on halo installations. Then another enemy might be the Precursors, although I doubt that will be on Halo 4. Just some thoughts.
  8. Why does no one talk about how stupidly the grunts move in the games vs how they actually move in the books? slowly hopping on two feet side to side is not how grunts fought against humans. they would move in massive groups and go berserk, similar to brutes, when they saw humans and begin running on all fours. ppl are worried about asthetically pleasing looks or silly english phrases instead of realistic gameplay. also, they are supposed to know some english (or human dialect) because the prophets decreed that they learn it during their exploration of forerunner technology prior to the discovery of the halo rings. so at least that was relatively accurate. but grunts were treated as ewoks in the previous halo titles instead of infantry that could be picked off easily by odst and spartans, but could wreak havoc on civilians and marines they caught off guard by overwhelming numbers and a vicious demeanor. remember, grunts were compared in the books to rabid dogs more than funny infantry that slowly ran around in circles using funny english phrases they learned that showed fear.
  9. They are not going to make a halo movie anytime soon. they had peter jackson and a script already set before. what happened is Microsoft demands were unattenable for hollywood movie studios. http://www.wired.com/gamelife/2012/04/halo-movie-generation-xbox/ "Microsoft wanted $10 million against 15% of the box office gross, in addition to a $75 million “below-the-line” budget and fast-tracked production." dumbasses. unless they change their tune, it's never gonna be made. name a huge sci fi hollywood production with a budget of $75 million?
  10. @hardcore i haven't read cryptum or primordium although i plan to. i do agree that pre-cursors are probably humanoid creatures or something that can be fought which we will find out throughout the new trilogy. i think they are the centerpiece of the new adventure although I think "The Mantle" will be the most important theme. and I think The Timeless One was speaking of Gravemind as the one to take it's place. but that's a whole other debate and the flood will definitely not be in the campaign of Halo 4 according to 343, so it could be something to come in Halo 5 or 6. Another thing is that because they showed Didact's symbol, it seems he will be part of the story. Maybe the villain, maybe an ally. My post was about him being the villain, but I would like to hear what people who see him as a benevolent Promethean towards humans could see him playing a role thousands of years later with humans having re-evolved technologically. Would Didact even still be alive or is his personality downloaded into an AI which is in control of the Promethean artificial defenders?
  11. @Abased, I will agree on the fact that Didact found the humans as a threat to the Mantle. but respecting an adversary doesn't mean you "feel" any different about them. and from what I read, he respected their technological advancement during the Human-Forerunner War as being equal, not necessarily the actual humans. Secondly, although your Rampant Ancilla theory is possible, it seems more like that is only part of it. Why would an "Ancient Evil" be an AI? even when they are rampant, they simply are following their programming. They can change their actions based on flawed logic which allows them to follow their programming with actions that go against their original purpose. Technically, nothing the rampant ancilla do is "evil", only bad for a group or species. Being an Ancient Evil means that this adversary is bad for more than just "Reclaimers". Gotta be bad for everybody including covenant, humans, and sentient life itself. When it comes to the term "Reclaimer" it is not apparent that it means only humans. Although humans are able to arm halo arrays (which is odd since forerunners built them), since there are no forerunners around, logically forerunners would also be able to arm halo arrays. So "Reclaimer" only means someone who is able to activate halos. and "Reclaimer" is a Precursor word which the covenant misinterpreted as Reclamation. So although the most ancient beings or structures we have met in the halo games are the ancillas, there are things that could be around from prior to their existence. also, using the term "Reclaimer" could just mean that the "Ancient Evil" entity would be a being or structure that read the Precursor texts. I do agree it could be the Master Builder cuz he was a pretty evil forerunner. Either way, I think it is a forerunner who has an ancilla that has gone rampant and is doing his bidding. @Darkest I agree that Master Chief must "meet" his adversary shortly after landing and the AI prometheans are not whom she is talking about. But that suggests that it definitely is a living being as the adversary and its supposed to be worse than fighting the flood. Prometheans were warriors who could easily beat humans hand to hand and only the human technology evened the battlefield. I believe it will either be a forerunner (Didact or Master Builder) or possibly something from Precursor timeline that we will learn about as the game goes on.
  12. I doubt we would be those characters in co-op. If you think about Reach, you were always Noble Six, even playing with 4-man co-op. The other members of Noble Team were always AI. Same thing with Halo 4.
  13. This theory is based on research done using halo.wikia.com. So the theory is based on fan contributed information and may have some flaws, but hopefully not. First, the theory is assuming that Didact (http://halo.wikia.com/wiki/Didact) is the villain for Halo 4 as his symbol is shown in the most recent E3 2012 trailers. Didact is a forerunner of the promethean class, which is a Warrior-Servant class. Didact has a hybrid personality because he downloaded his memories and personality into a young forerunner nambed Bornstellar (http://halo.wikia.com/wiki/Bornstellar_Makes_Eternal_Lasting). Didact hates humans although Bornstellar has some empathy towards them. Part of the reason for Didact's hate is the Human-Forerunner war which was a human-san 'shyuum (Prophets) alliance vs forerunners (http://halo.wikia.com/wiki/Human-Forerunner_war). Humans, back in 110,000BC, had equaled forerunner technology by adapting Precurser technology, which is also where forerunner tech comes from. Precursors were "god-like" beings pre-dating forerunners and humans. a side story that the new trilogy may focus on. Didact most notably fought well in the human-forerunner war and the flood-forerunner. He was against building the Halo Arrays and imprisoned in a Cryptom for his beliefs. Bornstellar was the one who found him and then was downloaded with his memories during their subsequent journeys together. But, back to the theory. If Didact hates humans and was the reason for human technology being wiped out post war (and the de-evolution of the species), then the reappearance of humans near requiem would have to piss him off. On Didact as a promethean, prometheans were supposedly around 4 meters tall and as a warrior, Didact would be able to crush a human skull with one blow. the promethean AI's shown in the E3 trailers are basically sentinal type of machines. They are supposed to engage and eradicate any foreign beings that get near or on requiem. They are supposed to be blue, but the fact that they are red suggests corruption or guidance by an evil entity, ala Didact. Didact was supposed to have died in the Halo Array release by the forerunners, which wiped out their race of beings. But its alluded that Didact survived somewhere, ala Requiem. So the theory goes that Didact managed to learn of and then hide on Requiem, which shielded him from the effects of the Halo activation. Thousands of years later (prometheans lived for thousands of years, unsure of how time has affected him physically) he sees the re-emergance of humans and covenant. If this rogue covenant faction is being led by a prophet, then that would also add to Didact's mood as he fought against the Syn'Shyuum as well. My theory is that the sentinals will not be the only enemy on Halo 4. The level shown on the gameplay trailer already tells you how to beat them and seems to be the 2nd level of the game. If all you do is fight covenant and promethean sentinels then the gameplay should be fairly easy. I would theorize that Requiem was the "safe place" Didact told the Librarian (his wife) could go to when the halo arrays were activated. This being said, what was it a safe place for during that time? He had to have told others about it and possibly escaped with other prometheans or even other beings who have been living there for thousands of years. Also, the fact that the previous Halo games hypothesized that humans or Master Chief could be a decendent of forerunners makes for an interesting story arch. If Master Chief is a decendent of forerunners, wouldn't he be a promethean as well? This calls for Didact to try to recruit Master Chief to his side and fight humans and covenant alike and retake the "Mantle" left by the Precursors. Just a theory.
