Their leveling up gets harder because that's how it is in every game, not because it is like call of duty.
If every level was exactly the same amount of experience, then it wouldn't feel like leveling up.
He died escorting to CASTLE Base. In a book it says here Spartan II escort died, Jun was wearing Mjolnir armor so he could have been considered a Spartan II (And the book came out before the game, so...)
I don't think they follow the prophets teachings anymore. The Sangheili had set aside forerunner stuff as relics and such before encountering the San'Shyuum. I believe that is what they are worshiping now, not the prophets teachings.

He has a throwing animation and the oddball comes at you like a line drive, no way he is dropping it.
I've always wanted to see some type of damage effect on the players. For example if you get sniped in the face at least have the face plate crack or something. Maybe if you get hit so many times without dying you can have a few scratches and bumps on your armor. And when you die it goes back to normal.

So the only additional stuff you get for the console is some DLC, and it doesn't go in depth about what DLC. All that money just goes towards the console.
So if you aren't in need of a new xbox I would skip on getting the console.
