Ok,I know that there are alot of topics on this but here's my take. If I shoot at you and you shoot at me and we get our shields taken down at about the same time, it happens alot if your in a good 1v1 battle, our rets bloom out so much that if we don't pace our shots it becomes random. I might be dead on you and you me but it's random. Now if I try to slow down after I get your shield down and you keep shooting fast its still random b/c you might get that lucky shot while I let my ret get small or you might miss even if you stay on target and I get the kill.
Ret bloom is bad for halo in more than one way.
Bungie says you need to pace your shots at range, well that does not work b/c if I do that you have all day to get to cover or one of your teammates might come along and kill me. In halo reach I feel like when I get a kill I'm lucky, and that's not good gameplay. I should feel like I have skill when I get a kill, and I feel that every now and then, but most of the time I feel it's luck.
I have over a 1.50 KDR in halo reach. Thats not great but I think it's not to bad either. Do I have a good KDR b/c I'm good, NO. Its b/c I have more luck than the people I kill. The last great halo was halo 2, H3 was more of the same and reach was a huge step backwards b/c alot of the skill was taken out of the game with bloom and some not so great AA's.
It's sad to see bungie's last halo was there worst, not counting ODST, but 343 looks to be on the right track with halo 4 and it might be as good as the best of all the halo's, halo 2.
