i agree on some points like map control and power weapons. i dont think instant spawns and ordinance are suited to ranked and traditional halo play but i think it plays well for something different. Its not like they made it so instant respawn is the only spawning setting possible and ordance is the only way to play.

lol.....

"I can see how the random aspect of ordinance could be an issue. I mean, I could argue that at least speed boost can be really useful, but I can't justify a needler or pulse pair being equal to a sniper, saw, or whatever. They could easily fine tune the drops for ranked play. You can even do it yourself in custom games I believe. They could have it so each drop has access to at least ONE of the following: Sniper type weapon, Shotgun type weapon, Rocket type weapon. Then with the other two slots it can be a powerup, or more specialized weapons like Needler, SAW, or frags. Just as long as a decent power weapon comes in each drop, I think it'd be alright." i dont think that would work that would mean that all 8 players would be spawning a power weapon on the map, i really don't think ordinance works in a ranked playlist unless its restricted to speed boost, damage boost and some other less powerful wepaons.

i agree with almost every post you post dawn. ive done a ranked matchmaking post id love to know what you think on my ideas

i agree motion trackers slow down gamplay but i dont think its that big of a deal i mean its been in every halo

halo 4 isnt as bad as everyone says it is. i think its a solid game but releasing playlists and ranks months after launch is mindboggling. they need ranked playlists but keep them simple (no ranked oddball, king, flag) as a rough idea: slayer, objective, ffa, doubles, mlg. social playlists are also needed because people want to relax from time to time and have fun. i like infinity slayer i think it plays well but if ranks are introduced i don't think it would play well, giving one team power weapons and the other needler and pulse grenades. especially at high ranks would be unfair i think this applies to any ranked playlist but if there was an infinity ranked playlist just on its own i wouldnt see a problem. i think the ranked playlists would be a great opportunity to bring back core halo mechanics weapon spawns on the map and no ordinance. thats my main gripe with halo 4 is you as a player don't get to use the power weapons enough this breaks up the monotony of constant BR/DMR duels. partly becuase they are rare from ordinance and they de-spawn really fast. i understand that they made it de-spawn fast so there isn't massive amounts of power weapon on the map but it gets boring BR/DMR all the time and getting a shotgun or sticky det now and again. i want to fight over sniper, rockets, promethian rocket laucher. i dont know if it would be possible to patch it so non infinity gametypes the weapons hang around like they did in the previous halos but if you are gunna make it ranked without ordinance you need the spawned weapons to last longer than 10 seconds on the map.

i agree with the OP however the "classic" halo where weapons spawn on the map and everyone has the same gun will never be made again its too simple the FPS genre has changed permanently i feel. i think the game companies think they have to shovel as much crap into a game as possible (customization, AA, sprint, stances ect) to make people think they are getting a game with real content

Halo 4 Crimson Map Pack Achievements
Fraggy Muffin replied to Spectral Jester's topic in Announcements
retarded halo achievements here we come again "Kill an enemy with a melee attack when landing from a man cannon" are you serious that is not an achievement its a joke -
SR rank is dumb, all it shows is how much the person has played nothing more or less. Ranks is whats made halo so interesting and competitive from the start of live and it gave the player something to play for instead of playing pointless match after another where most people don't care if they win or lose.
-
it is all really strange how they are doing everything. i dont normally like bitching about developers but if they are going to go through with what i have heard about the ranking system i.e ranks in game but they are invisible and accessed through waypoint. like seriously why? might aswell leave ranks out, noone is gunna play their hearts out to go up a rank for noone to be able to see it and only viewable by going off halo and onto external app. Its just so stupid to me the only reason i can think they have done it is to try and increase traffic on waypoint.
-
is there a hidden ranking system because i could swear the level of competition has increased lots i never play any really really bad people anymore
-
i would have to disagree with this thread. personally i could think of nothing worse than AR starts its boring and lacks any kind of skill at all. i mean when i think back to halo 3 online when you went into any MM 95% of the time AR start would get vetoed for BRs so i would say the majority prefer BR start. as for close range combat though yea its alot rarer but for me it doesnt matter too much, if anything its slightly better not being killed by shotguns its such a cheap kill
-
in my opinion i think the game would be a whole lot better without the DMR it would stop insane range putting shots on people, the beauty of the BR is past a certain distance hitting people from range is impossible which means you can walk around and not get cross mapped all the time.
-
the problem with having 4 precision weapons with different "play styles" is that you will never get balance. Why i think people are always complaining that DMR is to powerful is preference i suspect that they want to be able to use the BR all the time but cant at the moment because its slightly inferior. if there was only BR, carbine and LR and the BR was better i guarantee there would be hardly any threads on making the guns balanced
-
have they changed something recently? not that its a big issue but i logged on today and ive lost all my loadouts

i agree with the OP 100% and the majority of casual halo fans would aswell. problem is you have posted this on a forum in the campaign section and all you get here is snobby book readers. ive played halo since halo 1 and love the series and the story but have no interest in reading books on it. halo's campaign doesnt explain whats going on at all. diadect no idea what it is or what it does, the "bad guy" no idea who he is what his motives are other than he dislikes humans and wants to destroy earth? the artifact cant remember name why is it important? why am i saving it? im not looking for answers to these questions but this is the first game campiagn ever where i had no idea what was going on and just following objectives i shouldnt have to read books to understand it. the campaign should be written and presented for a mass audience not hardcore fans.
-
talk about draining the fun out of everything, hes giving his opinion not writing a university dissertation not every opinion has to explain themselves in detail
-
i feel the exact same as OP. its terrible story telling when u have to read all the fan fiction or find the hidden terminals to have any idea whats going on
-
Yea it's a shame that you have to read the books to have any idea what's going on. I spent the whole campaign following the objectives and not the story. Diadect no idea what it is or does no idea who that guy was or his agenda something to do with killing humans? Can't remember the name of the thing you have to try and protect at the end but what the hell is it and what does it do. And I also felt the covenant were just added to give more range of enemies It's such a shame because the scenery was amazing
-
i never really liked jackals and didn't actually notice any change, personally i prefer all the skins from the halo 2 covenant for some reason every halo game they change the look of them. i think its good that hunters are a challenge they were never really much of a threat, just make them swing at you and shoot them in the back
