4 Years in Cyo is quite a long Time, don't you think?
Rex Reiden X replied to Rex Reiden X's topic in Halo 4
Funny thing, before I posted my previous reply I did my own little research on Cryostasis & Cryopreservation and H2S came up quite frequently in both articles (Wikipedia). I saw both vids and just like you said, they can be eye opening for some ppl. I personally liked the video with Mark Roth's discussion, it went in deeper into the subject. And Bullet, there is just no way that theory might work; the temperature in space is somewhat close to absolute 0 which is enough to kill a human in seconds especially when he/she is naked. Aside from that there is a difference in pressure in space than on Earth, taking off the suit will most likely kill the Chief. That along with the fact that it took three technicians with at least a dozen AIs fifteen minutes to gear up the Chief. This are the few reasons why your theory is not possible, and this are the same reasons why the Chief and Kelly were not able to save Sam in "Halo: The Fall of Reach" when they infiltrated the Covenant ship and destroyed it. Even if this theory is not possible I am glad that at some people are still coming up with new theories, thank you. -

I see what you mean but I would like a little clarification, if you may. You are totally correct, there are no human built bots what so ever in the whole Halo universe, but Cortana could have done a bunch of things with just one or two broken or desynchronized sentinels. Anyway, pls tell me how updating the firmware would do anything to deplete the effects of the gases? Upgrading the firmware can change the software and make the system work more efficiently, but it can't make the system do something (physically) that it was not designed to. Cortana could have upgraded the firmware to make the Chief reaction time decrease and make him faster, make the suit process more information at a faster rate; it's like hacking a software. But if the suit was not made to physically do something then updating the firmware won't do anything against it. You said that Cortana could control his internal organs at the chemical lvl, this is really an intriguing theory here, she could have his body increase the healing rate. But to increase the healing rate the body will most likely need to increase the metabolism and produce more substances, therefore consuming energy and on the long run leaving the Chief's body without a source of energy. Unless of course there are chambers storing glucose and other chemicals that give energy to the body, but if she were to maintain this method the chamber's storage would deplete REALLY fast. Even if the Chief's life were in the hands of the standard operating system and be awaken until he would be able to substain another long term in cryo, his suit can only recycle air for 90 minutes which in my opinion won't be enough to last a year, so that theory is out of the question. So, pls enlight me. -

Now we are getting somewhere, that theory is a good one and she might have added the thing that "depletes the effects of the gasses." before she finished the upgrades to protect the Chief, again just a theory like you said. But this is good, I don't really know how she upgraded the armor but we could say, in theory, that some sentinels from Halo were shut down after the ring's destruction and she hacked them so she could make repairs around the ship to keep the power flowing. Later she put the Chief into a coma out of cryo (obviously) and started making upgrades, again this is just a theroy but that's realy the best we can do without real data from either Bungie or 343i. Good work, let me just make clear that this is not the same answer as Azeraph's, one thing is update the firmware and it's another to upgrade the armor. And WonderWombat, I am not throwing their story out the window, I am excited and can't wait for the game to come out but I want to get a possible explanation to some things. And I wasn't demanding a answer I was demanding an explanation which came in the form of a theory. And this part of the story is not trivial, how would you feel if you go to sleep and wake up on Mars? I don't know about you but I would like to know what the heck happend in the time you were asleep. Of course if a better theory comes up, pls don't hesitate in posting it. -

Upon reading my own answers I have notice that I seem a little hostile, pls I don't intend to, that's just how I write. Look D-Wane I am not saying that this is extremely important, but I find it very rude for someone/something to barge in and call the shots without giving any importance to the little details. 343i can't just come in and take control of the franchise and say "it's based 4 years since the end of the Halo 3" without giving a rather logical explanation on how somethings happen, since I have posted this question I have jet to see a logical answer. All I get are assumptions and it looks to me that we are missing a key fact in the storyline and we are in the dark about it. Now I don't know about you but for a storyline to make sense it must have an explanation on what happens in between time periods, something we are missing here. I would really like this post to reach someone from 343i just so they can clear the mistery, something that I am sure won't happen. So we need to make a little more research and work with what we got until they clear the subject, if they do. So if anyone comes up with something pls let me know. -

I get your point, but after that the narrator start speaking in Chief's point of view when it stated that Chief's skin "itched and stung", or what you guys call "tingly". After that the sentence is continued stating that Chief's skin was tingly because it was "a side effect of the cryo GASES, but he quickly banished the PAIN from his awareness. He had long ago learned how to disassociate himself from physical discomfort." The previous sentence just stated a few things, 1st: Chief's armor does not "deplete the negative effects of cryo gasses on unexposed skin" at least not in Mark V, if you think Mark IV can pls give supporting details quote if you must. 2nd point this statement makes is that the Chief's was affected by the cryo side effects because he felt PAIN until he forgot about it, and he was only a few hours or days in cryo at most, so what do you think will happen in 4 years. And 3rd point (and the most important one), it proves that Master Chief is indeed a mother#%&$ing badass, like Tallgeese said. I don't know if WonderWombat's comment is a definite answer but it is indeed something to look into, and Ryu I wasn't making a remark of Chief not being in a suit (he is always in the suit), I was making a remark on how the suit can't protect him for 4 years from the cryo side effects. -

Ok what part of not being the suit didn't ppl understand? Anyway, can you go deeper into your answer 'cause as I recall the Chief's skin was affected in cryo. -
Sony cn only dream on buying Microsoft, Microsoft has way more money than Sony so if anyone is buying anyone is Microsoft. Anyway Microsoft is not being greedy, why doesn't PS3 shares God of War? Besides, rivalry is good for business.

Ok, this post coccured to me yesterday but I hadn't post this thread because I needed to go back to the books for some proof or else I was going to get a bunch of BS from ppl. Anyway, it is my understanding that the Chief spent 4 years in Cryo in the time between Halo 3 & 4 but in the book "Halo: The Flood" as the narrator stated in page 20: "Most soldiers went into cryo naked, since covered skin generally reacted badly to the cryo process. Sam had once worn a bandage into the freezer and discovered the affected skin blistered and raw when he woke up.". The narrator also stated in the Prologue page 1 that: "In over two hundred combat cruises, Marcus had clocked fewer than seventy-two hours in cryostorage." Those of you who read the book can skip the next explanation which will begin and end with {}. {The person reffered to in the passages is Tech Officer (3rd class) Sam Marcus, if you haven't read the book but have played the 1st game you might recognize him as the guy in the observation deck when Chief is taken out of Cryo. And if you look towards him when the Elites go into the observation deck you can see part of his death which is also explained in more detail in the book.} Anyway back to the topic, how is it possible for Chief to stay alive through 4 years in cryo when Sam with fewer than 72 hours had a piece of his body with blisters and raw? And don't say the suit 'cause in page 21 the narrator stated that Chief's skin "itche and stung" which is obviously a side effect of cryo, so the armor doesn't protect him completly from cryo. I am obviously open for opinion, thank you very much.

OHHHHH, tough question now that I know about this "Bloom". But I'll go with everyone else, I like bloom on semi automatic weapons except the Sniper Rifle. I use the DMR and the Pistol quite a bit and bloom helps me out in keeping a good flow on my shots. But I really don't see the point in making bloom visible in weapons such as the AR, Spartan Laser, Rocket Launcher, Shotgun, Machine Gun or any other automatic gun Human or Covenant. And yes I am aware that the SL and the RL as well as the shotgun are not automatic weapons.
-
Thank God, I was going crazy for a while.
-
Can someone pls explain what the heck "Bloom" is? I have obviously no idea of what the thing is.
-
Why wouldn't he expect that from her? I had to go back to the video to hear the "think" part and see in more details the Chiefs movement, back in Halo 3 when the meeting went down in the "Shadow of Intent" the Chief was talking with Lord Hood and he didn't move nearly as much. If you look at the guy acting as Chief in the video you'll notice that he moves his head upside down and several ways before looking at Cortana, as in noding. This type of movements were not shown during the meeting in Halo 3, totally ruining the Chief misterious awe. I am going to get a little ou of the subject here but I it should be taken in consideration anyway, in phsycology when someone nods it may be to reasure his/her statement or to reasure his/herself of what he/she is saying is correct. In my opinion a battle hardened hardcore soldier like the Chief doesn't need to display such emotions, since he doesn't need to resure himself of anything since he didn't survibe by being insecure. Ohh and why isn't the Chief's voice acted by Steve Downes?

Sorry, my bad. Got a little carried away there.

Zuko, you should at least play the 1st one just to get a taste of the action and if you like it then go on with the story line. Sierra1117 and RoosterTeethFan are right, your are missing out on some back stabbing, freerunning, height jumping Assassin fun. I have played the 1st & 2nd, that's all the fun I am getting because the game gets tooo repetitive, and they say Firefight is repetitive.

Thank you very much, I can't believe I made such a stupid mistake. I again thank you very, I wouldn't want the Sangheili fans picking at me.

"Call of Duty: Halo Warfare anyone" that's frigging hilarious, I cracked up on that one. But no, there is a fine line between the ppl who play CoD and Halo, the true players hate each other. But your point is VALID nontheless, the new CoD apparently takes place in the future which in my neighborhood it lost fans faster than a burrito giving me a stomachache. But I am hoping and some uf us are shure that it will never happen.
-
You are totally right, one thing I hated was the guy acting as the Chief moving his head to the sides and back, etc.. The Chief doesn't go around doing that unless he needs to, the lack of movement is another factor that gives the Chief his awe of mistery. Who is he talking to the captain or Cortana, I think it was the captain so he doesn't have to go around loking at Cortana for somekind of approval, the Chief doesn't need approval HE GIVES the approvals. And let me point out that this hallucinating Spartan can kick any of the Spartan III and IV ass, and has all the medals except the "Prisoner of War" medal.

Instant spawn lets other (unexperienced) players have a shot at the fun. if you are a noob playing with a bunch of MLG then you might as well sit back, relax, enjoy the view until they snipe you. Elites (as we all know) were not playable until Halo 2 and some people were expecting that, some people out there like the Sangheili for one reason or another and don't go comparing CE with Halo 4, when CE came out people didn't know what to expect and were new to the Sangheili race. Ranking systems matters, it shows all your hard work and rightly earned skills. S0 it does matters. And I don't know about custom Loadouts, I like the settings from Halo Reach, anything further will be getting too complicated and then it will be like Crysi 2, get ready to fight and don't bother to pick up any weapons. Halo is fun because of the interaction with the envionment in multiplayer (among a lot of other things). Crysis have good graphics but the gameplay suck balls, lets just hope that Halo 4 doesn't let us down.

Finally someone who care about Firefight, let me tell you that Firefight might be repetitive but IT IS HEAVEN for the noobs out there without experience, for expert players to get a new challenge, AND for normal players who sadly enough can't afford Live. When I bought Reach I could't afford Live at he moment so I played Firefight, I started the Campaign for the first time in Heroic (having played Halo since the 1st game in Xbox and PC) and I found out that I needed more practice with the Button Layout, the Abilities, the new and old guns, etc... So I went down to Normal, after finishing the Campaign (since I had no Live) decided to play Firefight for the 1st time, and man did I play Firefigth. I played that game for fun (at 1st) then I started playing it to hone my skills, going from no skulls to a few skulls then to all the skulls on in Normal to all the skulls on in Heroic, re-organizing the wave to fight elites most of the time. The last time I played Halo 3 Multiplayer I wasn't nearly as good as I became, I developed skills that I wouldn't develop since I hate going through the campaing over and over again when I have no Membership, and when I finally got the Gold Membership I started kicking more asses than ever. I am currently training on Legendary with Mythic, Cloud, Tough Luck and Black eye, I am all for something new in Halo since that's what makes it the best FPS game out there, but don't take the good old stuff out (if it is because it occupies too much space in the main menu just make it an option under Spec Ops). And pls don't forget about the ones who can't afford Live, don't make them go through the Campaign over and over again just because 343 didn't like Firefight, rename it if it is a Rights problem, but don't forget about us.

No no no no no, the frigging sniper bullets have some kind of REALLY messed up problem. To kill a brute you only need 2 sniper bullets at most, when I shoot the brute and instantly shoot again the mother @%$#%& is still alive so I have to shoot again, the first shot was in the chest and the second was in the head. And you might think that the places I hit didn't do enough damage, but when I shot at the shest and wait a second THEN shoot at the head they fall to the ground without a problem. And when I shoot at them they kind of take a little step back, that's when I know I have to shoot, if the step is not taken then 1 second later I shoot anyway AND THEY DIE. But not a moment sooner or the frigging bullet won't do crap. It happens with Elites of any kind, grunts and in some rare times Jackals & Skirmishers are not affected b the motherloving bullet (since they are kinda hard to hit), so I can't shoot instantly after shooting once (and hitting), I have to wait 1 second before I can shoot again. Again, shooting is not the problem, the problem is shooting two simultanious shot and doing ****. And therefore waiting between shots to make more damage instead of killing the darn dude from two consecutive shots is (to me, I don't know anyone else) a frigging problme that needs to be adressed. Thank you.

Victor Element has a good point here, I am no Christian but I was force to go to church and what this guy is saying makes way more sense than what ppl at church came up with. And it will totally explain a bunch of crap, now pls no more religious stuff unless it is relevant, we wouldn't want Halo to be view as a religious topic.

Halo 4 armor customization so far
Rex Reiden X replied to Fake Demon wears Hayabusa's topic in Halo 4
I said I wasn't trying to be a hater because ppl might think I am against 343i, but I am just a little scared they might ruin such an Epic game. And you are right, I hate the other three everything else looks kinda cool. I just hope they develop a better taste for armors and helmets, 'cause if they keep doing crap like Hazop and/or Inflitrator then I might go nuts. -
Sorry, I meant to say that if Chief doesn't wanna move then she can't do nothing about it. She is only translating the impulses, without her he abviously can move either way. So, sorry for my gramar mistake I'll see to that it won't happen again.
-
You are right, but in "Halo: The Fall of Reach" Chief has the same question to which Halsey tells him that "Cortana resides in the interface between your mind and the suit, Master Chief. You will find your reaction time greatly improved. She will be translating the impulses in your motor cortex directly into motion---she can't make you send those impulses." After that there's a little conversation about the mind but nothing important. So as you can see if the Chief doesn't move then there is nothing she can do about it. Now, I don't think the book said anything about cortana being able to either trick or hack the suit. But I believe the answer is still NO because Chief question was "Can she control the MJOLNIR armor?" to which I already game you the answer. I hope I have clarified this subject on Chief being control inside his own armor by Cortana.
-
This is a rather interesting idea, we are all hardcore Halo fans and we have seen a really close relationship between Chief and Cortana but was never dwelled into enough. If she becomes human then their relationship might get further, I personally don't mind a little love story in the game but without knowing the how good Hlo 4 might be I can't say 343 would be able to balance the game that defined first person shooter with a love story in it. Not to mention that if conrtana becomes human she might become a liability. This excites me even more, I LOVE HALO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
