  1. This is some sad news to report on ladies and gentlemen. Rev3 Games, a famous gaming and entertainment hub on YouTube, is shutting down for good. If you all remember, several months ago an intelligent, well versed, and overall well respected games journalist by the name of Adam Sessler left Rev3 Games, an gaming hub on YouTube, taking with him the channel's momentum and a large portion of it's fanbase. And now, we're unfortunately on the day when Rev3 Games shuts down for good, with Tara Long and Nick Robinson, two other major channel figureheads, saying goodbye on the channel's . So why is this news, after all, it's just a YouTube channel? Well, that's just it, it was a YouTube channel, but with so many influential figures in the industry and a large hold on gaming itself with level-headed people voicing their opinions, be they right or wrong, it was still a prodigious part of the industry. And with the sad loss of this amazing group of people, I feel as though Gaming Journalism as a whole is beginning to lose it's grip, with this being just the beginning. We can speculate, and argue about this, about what they were and why they're leaving, but is that really what Sessler or Long or Robinson even would want to be left off on as their final note? Likely not, so for now, let's just remember all the good Rev3 Games did for the gaming world, and share a moment of sadness for the loss of a great group of individuals. Best of luck to the Rev3 team, they're talented people and I wish them the best. View attachment: rev3gamesoriginals--0588--nick-says-goodbye-to-rev3games--medium.thumb.jpg As you could likely tell, this means a lot to me as an amateur Games Journalist myself, working on this site. Journalism and gaming are my passions, and these are some individuals I looked up to for inspiration, to see them leave is very sad. But if the moderators or anyone else feels this isn't 'news', you can go ahead and report it/remove it. What are your thoughts on this whole thing? Let me know down below folks. Thanks a lot for reading, see you all next time. Take care, and good luck Tara, Nick, Adam, and everyone else that was on the team.
  2. Today, Activision released some Destiny sales figures and overall statistics. Note, prepare to be blown away! Some people hate Destiny, some people love Destiny, and some people don't care at all about the game. Either way, the game is huge, as Activision stated over at IGN.com. The game has already earned it's marketing revenue of $500 million back within it's first few days, with a current number still unknown. Activision reported that Destiny's sales played an extremely large part in their Q3 2014 and is overall one of the biggest successes this year. Over 9.5 Million players are active in Destiny daily, playing between 3 and 4 hours each day. The success has lead to work being put on future expansions like The Dark Below, and the sequel, which was confirmed by Activision's Publishing CEO. He said, "Work has also begun on future expansion packs as well as on our next full game release, we're very pleased with the launch and continuing engagement." View attachment: Destiny-GI-Cover.jpg Are these sales and statistics deserving of a game like Destiny, which has gotten an overall mediocre response? Leave your thoughts below! Thanks a ton for reading folks! View full article

  4. Hey everyone, EK here, I wanted to create a thread where we could catalog all confirmed REQs so that if there's ever an issue, it can be resolved here. The list is barely done, but for now, here's a list of what we know for sure is appearing in Halo 5: Guardians! Recruit Recruit armour used by basic Spartan IVs in Halo 4 has returned in Halo 5: Guardians Very little discernible difference for this armour. HOW TO UNLOCK: Starter armour Air Assault This is another armour returning nearly exactly as it's precursor in Halo 5, with a mostly similar design with slight indents that make it stand out. However, if you were hoping for a return to it's Halo: Reach format, you'll be disappointed. HOW TO UNLOCK: Earn in REQ Packs. Recon The classic armour is making a comeback from Halo 4 with a mostly similar helmet and slicker body details such as improved shoulder plates. HOW TO UNLOCK: Earn in REQ Packs. Aviator Clear cut remastering of the original armour utilized by Spartan IVs with little noticeable change, the shoulders bear a slight difference to their original form though. HOW TO UNLOCK: Earn in REQ Packs. Recruit (BRN) This armour is partially different with a skull paintjob on the helmet and the same details on the gauntlets and chest piece. HOW TO UNLOCK: Earn in REQ Packs. Athlon This is an armour new to the Halo franchise, bearing some similarities to the previously seen Bullseye armour in the Halo 4 Champions Bundle. It seems to be a common set used among spartans during training for it's durability and ease of use. HOW TO UNLOCK: Best Buy Pre-Order Bonus; Earn in REQ Packs. Warrior This set was first used in Halo 4 as an early starter armour, and now follows a near exact asthetic look. HOW TO UNLOCK: Earn in REQ Packs. Scout Another fan-favourite armour set returning from as early as Halo 3, this remodel bears more resemblance to it's Halo 4 incarnation rather than other previous installments. HOW TO UNLOCK: Earn in REQ Packs. Defender Another clear remake nearly exactly akin to it's original model, the Defender armour received little aesthetic change. HOW TO UNLOCK: Earn in REQ Packs. Centurion [Legendary] Centurion armour was introduced in Halo 2: Anniversary in a much slimmer form than its current form. The armour became much bulkier and more akin to Mark VI designs. It is used by Spartan Fred in the campaign. HOW TO UNLOCK: Earn in REQ Packs. Mark VI (Clean) [Legendary] Bears resemblance to the Halo 3 version featuring a crotch piece and belt. Technically obsolete, the Mark VI [GEN1] Mjolnir armor maintains a legendary luster among Spartans and the general public. HOW TO UNLOCK: Earn the “Your Journey Begins” Achievement in MCC (Unlocks Helmet & Armour) or REQs. Mark VI (Scarred) [Legendary] Features a shattered visor and overall rough outline to armour. The Mark VI was able to remain functional until all of its triply-redundant auto-repair and bypass nodes failed. HOW TO UNLOCK: Earn the “Cairo Station" Achievement in MCC (Unlocks Helmet & Armour) or REQs. Nightfall [Legendary] Resembles Halo 2 and Halo 3 armour utilized by ODSTs. Spartans with Marine experience prefer NIGHTFALL armor when stationed on inhospitable worlds, due to its best-of-class life support. Not to be confused with Spartan Buck's Helljumper armour, which is bears much more of a resemblance to the typical ODST gear. HOW TO UNLOCK: Watching the Halo: Nightfall Episode 1 Second Story unlocks the Helmet, watching all 5 episodes of Halo: Nightfall unlocks Armour. Can also be earned in REQs. Helioskrill [Legendary] Utilizes a slick ninja-esque design similar to the previously used Hayabusa. The HELIOSKRILL is a work of art crafted by a Sangheili prodigy inspired to test her skill against the best that humanity could muster. HOW TO UNLOCK: Earn the “Legend” Achievement in MCC (Unlocks Helmet & Armour) or REQs. Hunter [Legendary] Hunter armour is extremely powerful and highly classified, mainly used by Fireteam Osiris’ leader Spartan Locke. Sophisticated and lethal, Hunter-class armor incorporates Watershed Division's latest warfighting technology. HOW TO UNLOCK: Pre-Order via GameStop, etc; Can also be unlocked through the REQ system. Noble [Legendary] This armour very clearly derives itself from the classic Commando gear used by Spartan Carter during the Reach campaign, dedicated to the memory of Noble Team’s efforts. It retains little changes to the original form besides more plating on the chest. HOW TO UNLOCK: Earn in REQ Packs. Breaker A new piece of gear in the Halo franchise, Breaker has a very thinly wire plated body and is used for mainly tactical purposes. Void-hardened and sealed to meet the demanding requirements of Spartan naval intercept operation (NIO) boarding teams, Breaker armor is also well suited for missions in environmentally compromised zones. HOW TO UNLOCK: Earn in REQ Packs. Anubis Anubis follows in the naming style of Fireteam Osiris and bears a massive resemblance to Mark V worn by Noble Six during the fall of Reach. HOW TO UNLOCK: Earn in REQ Packs. Mako Mako is a new armour set to the Halo series that has a very Oceanic feel to it with a spherical shaped head. There is also a sharkfaced variant unlockable through the REQs. HOW TO UNLOCK: Earn in REQ Packs. EVA The classic variant of EVA is returning once again identical to it's style in Halo 4 with the heavily armoured backside and the exposed front. Not to be confused with Hermes, Buccaneer, and Orbital which are also wide faced visor. HOW TO UNLOCK: Earn in REQ Packs. Copperhead [Legendary] Likely named after the famous snake, Copperhead is a very sleek alien-like armour design used by Spartan Vale in the campaign. A multipurpose armor system built from the ground-up for covert "special activities," COPPERHEAD armor is rarely seen since it is jealously guarded by ONI’s direct action teams. HOW TO UNLOCK: Earn in REQ Packs. Helljumper [Legendary] Designed as a monument to the gear used by Orbital Drop Shock Troopers, Helljumper is bulky and dauntless armour used by Spartan Buck in the campaign. The official description states that it is a pet project of Cascade's CEO, a former ODST, and that a small number of HELLJUMPER prototypes have entered Spartan service under a research partnership between the UNSC and Cascade Stronghold Technology. HOW TO UNLOCK: Earn in REQ Packs. Technician [Legendary] A specialized suit of armour, this is most notably used by Spartan Tanaka in the campaign. The variant is used by Spartan combat engineers and field techs. The Technician Mjolnir system features a battlenet node and custom machine interlink that can process and curate vast amounts of data. HOW TO UNLOCK: Earn in REQ Packs. Hermes [Legendary] The Hermes armour bears an extensive resemblance to the Buccaneer, Orbital, and EVA suits, and is worn notably by Spartan Kelly. The Enhanced Mobility Subsystem embedded in the Hermes prototype is so powerful that only a handful of Spartans can use it safely. HOW TO UNLOCK: Earn in REQ Packs. Argus [Legendary] The Argus armor is suited for longer range engagements where a better tactical view is necessary, and is notably used by Spartan Linda. The ARGUS suit's sophisticated battlenet control node provides situational and threat awareness in all environments, as well as hardware-accelerated cyberlink connections for intelligence collection networks. HOW TO UNLOCK: Earn in REQ packs. I'll be sure to update the list as time goes on and the rest of the REQs are revealed along with how to unlock them. Let me know down below if anything new comes up that I've missed and what your favourite set so far is! Thanks for reading!

  6. Hey guys, excitingly IGN revealed some armour permutations you can unlock in Halo 5 by simply playing the Master Chief Collection! Halo 5: Guardians is on the horizon and details are beginning to be revealed to us in tiny bits, this being a prime example. IGN.com showed off some Halo armour available in Guardians. The first, is two variations of Mark IV, one scarred and one not. The second, ODST armour now labelled 'Nightfall'. And finally a new helmet called HELIOSKRILL resembling Hayabusa. Each of these will be unlock-able through separate achievements in Halo: The Master Chief Collection. For example, the ODST or 'Nightfall' Armour is unlocked by watching all episodes of Halo: Nightfall. 8. Today, Bungie announced a slew of new details for the new expansion to the game, The Dark Below, including an increased level cap, a new raid, and more! Rumors and leaks spread like wild fire in the recent days surrounding the leaking of Destiny's DLC content, which is likely why Bungie has now officially revealed the DLC and it's contents. Bungie.net has the news, with an info page talking about and showing the new features. To start, the game will increase the level cap to 32, though whether this means the Light cap or that we'll be able to get to 32 normally on top of the extra ten light is unknown. What is known though is we're getting new armours and weapons reserved for these elite players, including a new Hive themed rifle and Shotgun, and a rocket decked out with an old fashioned World War II paint decor. This is so far all we've seen, so there could be more. New story missions following a new Guardian in the tower named Eris will be available. On top of all that, we'll receive new Crucible maps and most excitingly a new Strike. This strike is said to entail finding a Hive Wizard named Omnigul buried in Earth looking to enlarge the Hive army for the Hive god Crota's return. And to top this off, a new raid allowing you and the most skilled Guardians to slay their god, Crota. More details will be seen soon, but we have a confirmed release date of December 9th, 2014. 10. Hello everyone, welcome to the (bi) Weekly News Wrap-Up! As you know I've missed these an awful lot lately with the new school year and testing and my active participation in others areas of my life. Well, I do apologize, I do have a job to fulfill here and not doing it is wrong of me, even though real life will always come first. Anyway, here's my Spooky Scary Love Letter to you guys, as an apology and a good read. Enjoy! View attachment: WNW Halloween.JPG 'Outlast 2 Under Works' Red Barrels Confirms! You've all played or heard of the horrifying indie game known as Outlast, following the story of (Desmond) Miles, a journalist investigating an asylum for the insane gone horribly wrong. Polygon.com reports that Red Barrels, the developers, are working on the sequel to the game officially. The developers described the new adventure as an emotional journey akin to the first, but with new characters and a new setting. Despite this, they hinted at a return to Mount Massive in the future. No release timeframe was revealed, but I'm sure we'll be seeing more of the game sometime soon, as a game like Outlast could easily become a large franchise with frequent releases. View attachment: image.jpg Are you excited for the new Outlast, or is it too soon to be thinking of creating another? Let me know in the thread below! Project Cars Releases Halloween Themed Trailer If you've recently heard (shameless self promotion) I did an article on Project Cars being delayed to allow more time for work to be done on the game. Well, GameSpot.com showed off a spooky new trailer with a Halloween theme for the game, with some nicely improved visuals and overall frightening tone. The developers spoke of some parts of the trailer, stating that the trailer shows off how the game doesn't just have features in it that make it look spectacular, but prove useful gameplay wise. The game will release on March 20th, 2015 for the current generation consoles only, including the Wii U if you don't consider it 'current generation'. View attachment: 819UpW3Lj7L._SL1500_.jpg Does this trailer excite you for the release of Project Cars if you're getting it? Debate! MOBA League of Legends Getting Halloween Makeover MOBA games like League of Legends with constant updates allow the developers to create themes for games that include actual gameplay altering effects. This year, League of Legends is releasing an update called 'The Harrowing', which they released a trailer to on . The update includes new skins for different characters, sadly only two new, but many old favorites returning. These skins will cost money, being microtransactions available in-game for different prices. As well, an old game mode called Hexakill will be back. The game follows two teams of six battling it out as a giant Spider circles them. The event is underway now, so if you have League of Legends you can go right into the game and see all of these new features. View attachment: League-of-Legends-Harrowing-1024x604.jpg Are you anxious to play with this new makeover? Discuss down below! Thanks for reading, if you've made it this far, you're either a coward and didn't read, or you have no emotions. Either way, be sure to like the article if you enjoyed it and stay tuned for more for me. The Cyan Age of Piracy is getting back to basics folks, you'll see soon. TTYL. View full article

  13. 343 Industries and IGN have shown off the introductory cut-scene to Halo 2 Anniversary as part of their IGN First program! Halo: The Master Chief Collection is in it's final days of processing and is nearly ready to reach our fingertips, but until then I have more footage to entice you. A channel on thankfully reuploaded the footage from a stream showing off the cinematic opening to Halo 2: Anniversary, redone with stunning visuals from Blur Studios. The opening is for the mission Outskirts and the full mission was shown off on the aforementioned stream, which I cannot get a hold of unfortunately. The video features the infamous Scarab in it's Halo 2 garb, New Mombasa, Sergeant Johnson, and the Spartan himself, The Master Chief, all in gloriously redone visual style. Halo: The Master Chief Collection releases on November 11th, 2014 for Xbox One only. 15. On the Xbox One's first day in China, September 29th, the system reportedly sold a whopping 100,000 consoles! The Xbox One, despite it's rough start in 2013, seems to be picking itself up off the ground and running boldly. According to GameInformer.com, the console has apparently sold 100,000 units in China on it's first day. We unfortunately can't put these numbers in comparison with the Xbox 360 or even the PlayStation 4 or 3 as this is the first console to release in China after a twelve year ban. PlayStation plans to launch the PS4 in China in December, so we can come back then and compare day one sales. So far though, the Xbox One is the leading (and only) console in China. Despite this, the PS4 is still kicking ahead as far as we known in total sales. Even though we now have day one numbers in China alone, current sales numbers have not been released, though before the holiday begins I'm sure Microsoft will update us on sales numbers, as the last we heard in total sales was 5 million shipped. View attachment: xbox-one-white.jpg Does the news of the Xbox One's success pleasantly surprise you? Or did you expect the console to make a leap soon? Let me know below! 17. I guess I'm rebooting this because reboots seem to be in style this year. So yeah, this week I've chosen to get a special friend's reactions. He's renown for his artistic abilities, making me feel like less of a man, and taking my news. Hell Verruckt is my guest, aka Self Destruct! EK: Have you seen the recent trailer for Five Nights at Freddy's 2? Did you play the first? If so, what are your thoughts on the trailer compared to the first game? HV: No I haven't seen the trailer. I have seen the official images though, and they look pretty freaky compared to the first game. I did watch a ton of walkthroughs on YouTube of FNAF1 (and played the Android Demo with Nights 1 & 2) and for the most part the game seems legitimately scary. One of the most defining things I find unsettling about the game is Foxy the Pirate's roid run to the office lol. If you watch his "stage" too little, or too often then he'll disappear from the stage, leaving you to wonder where the hell he went. Looking at the left hallway on the Security Cam immediately shows Foxy freaking SPRINTING down the hallway to the Office, and if you're fast enough you can exit and close the door (mere seconds before he gets in). He'll sit there and bang on the door like 3 times and then go away. There is a way to avoid this: not looking at the hallway when he disappears, and closing the door (he'll show up regardless around 10 seconds after he disappears). Despite the "cheat" I find Foxy to be one of the freakiest things in the game. The promo images for 2 are significantly more creepy to me due to how suggestive they are. It seems there's two versions of each Animatronic: the old ones in disrepair and the new "cute n cuddily" ones. The new ones' appearance obviously contradicts their murderous nature. The old ones definitely bring the creepy vibe. Their torn, ragged, and ugly looking. The old Bonnie even has his upper face completely ripped off. It almost looks like a huge maw. Then there's the Foxy we all know and love (and hate) who is accompanied by a "new" Foxy. I can't even imagine having to deal with two of those freaks AND that unsettling Bonnie character. Doubling the Characters (and some new ones I've heard will be appearing. Like the ones cut from the first game) is going to be horrendous..... I already feel that 2 is going to be a total nightmare: which makes it fun lol. EK: Are you okay with the idea that Five Nights at Freddy's is getting a sequel only a year after release? Why or why not? HV: I'm ok with the sequel. Games like these get played to pieces so new material is always welcome. The game is looking interesting from what I've seen. EK: If Five Nights at Freddy's were to have been developed by a triple-A studio, who would you want to do it? HV: I don't know much about AAA studios but I think Valve or Turtle Rock Studios could be good candidates. I saw some Freddy's Multiplayer thing and having Turtle Rock (who made Left 4 Dead and Evolve) work on a L4D/Evolve take of Freddy's would be amazing. EK: Should Five Nights at Freddy's come to consoles eventually? HV: Of course I want this to come to consoles! Would seem like a perfect match to me since, well... I'm not much of a PC gamer lol. Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions bro, you know you're my fifteenth favourite friend. And thanks for reading this edition ladies and gents, I guess I'll try to do these bi weekly, maybe twice a month, not sure yet with the WNW in place. Anyway, PEEEEEACE.
  18. The newest entry in the Gears of War franchise from Black Tusk may return to the series's darker and more morbid roots according to Phil Spencer and Black Tusk. Details on the newest title in the Gears of War franchise on Xbox One are incredibly scant, and now we have a small bit of detail to add to that nothingness! IGN.com reports that Phil Spencer is in talks with the new studio behind Gears of War to return the franchise to it's dark roots in the first three games as compared to Judgment. Phil said on the subject how he adored the franchise's, “epic scale, the settings that I was in, the massive destruction moments. It was more what I would call soulful and maybe even a little dark.” This could possibly mean that grittier and dirty moments like the point blank executions in Gears of War or the unique gameplay sections (like fighting the Corpser in Gears of War 1, or riding the large human vehicles in Gears of War 2) may return. On top of this, Phil expressed how he understood the complaints with Judgment, but focused on the future of the franchise for the next decade. He also confirmed the game would not be a reboot, making way for a sequel, prequel, or spin-off to Marcus Fenix's stories. So far though, no details like a release date, plot, game title, or characters have been revealed, and it's likely we won't see much too soon. 19. 21. Slightly Mad Studio's opening landmark game, Project Cars, has been delayed on the PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Wii U. The racing genre has been graced with a plethora of wonderful titles this year, from the newly released Forza Horizon 2, Driveclub, and Mario Kart 8, to upcoming titles like The Crew. Sadly IGN.com reports that one hit racing game due for this holiday has been pushed back, Project Cars. Slightly Mad Studio's, the developers of the game, stated how the reason for the delay is, among more time to polish, the plethora of racing games coming out and the brisk competition. The delay was originally confirmed a while ago to be strictly for Europe and Australasia, but it seems it's now worldwide. Head of the studio, Ian Bell, had this to say,“Whilst a tough decision to make, the change in release date allows the game the greatest chance of success and visibility, and the opportunity to polish the game even further. . .We’re eager for you all to see what we’ve been working on in just a few months.” The game will launch on March 20th, 2015 on the PS4, Xbox One, and PC, with an unknown date for the Wii U. 23. The new top down twin stick spin-off game in the Halo franchise, Halo: Spartan Strike's first trailer was released today! So with details now flooding in at the seams for Halo: Spartan Strike, the half prequel/half sequel to Halo: Spartan Assault (the pre-sequel hehe) we should've expected to get a trailer. Halo's official has it, showing off some gorgeous cutscenes, ground gameplay, and new features. A few different shots of the Prometheans are shown off, as well as Halo 2 era and post Halo 4 era gameplay on differing environments. Covenant seemed to get the short end of the stick in this trailer, as near nothing was shown on them. As well, the warthog and kestrel were both demoed, both new additions to the twin stick Halo games. 24. Microsoft and Ubisoft have teamed up to create an awesome Xbox One bundle releasing this fall! So if you've been looking for a great deal on an Xbox One and want two awesome games inside, I've got the perfect new bundle for all your needs. IGN.com reported on the new Assassin's Creed bundle for Xbox One, which will include two hit AC games. Assassin's Creed Unity and (strangely enough) Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag will be included in the package. Just for your information, both games will be downloadable codes rather than physical copies. Alongside the two games is your typical Xbox One with your usual controller and headset package. There will be two versions of this bundle, one for $400 without the kinect sensor, and for $500 with the sensor and Dance Central Spotlight included. The bundle will release on November 2nd, 2014 but Unity won't be playable until it's street date release on the 11th.
