  3. Source-PcMag New News Microsoft got gamers excited this week with an E3 countdown that prompted rumors about the next Xbox. But are they already in production? One tech site seems to think so. On Wednesday, Microsoft posted a countdown to the E3 gaming conference on its blog, which many have interpreted as a countdown to the successor of the Xbox 360 $249.99 at Microsoft Store, sometimes referenced as the "Xbox 720." A post on the Major Nelson blog says simply "And it's on ..." with an animated countdown clock to E3, which is now at 157 days and dropping. The post offered no other details, but commenters immediately speculated that it meant the arrival of a new gaming console. "New Xbox yesssss," the first commenter said. That brings us to SemiAccurate's Charlie Demerjian, who for months has been reporting unconfirmed news about the silicon that's going into the next Xbox. This week, he reported that the target date for firing up production of next-gen Xbox chips came and went on Dec. 31 —meaning by Demerjian's lights, those chips have been taped out, debugged, approved, and are currently being manufactured. If that hasn't happened yet and if there are delays of "more than a few weeks," the SemiAccurate reporter thinks that "will mean no new console in 2013, there just won't be enough time to make them." SemiAccurate and others had tipped Advanced Micro Devices as the designer of the CPU and a graphics package codenamed Oban to power the next Xbox. IBM is actually rumored to be providing a Power-based multi-core processor for central processing but AMD is supposed to be supplying custom-built Radeon graphics for the all-important visuals, plus tying the whole package together. In fact, it's looking increasingly likely that AMD, and perhaps IBM, won the trifecta with the big console-makers' 8th-generation systems. A teardown of Nintendo's recently released Wii U by iFixit revealed that it sports a central processing-graphics package made by AMD and IBM. As noted, the next Xbox is rumored to have a similar chipset and there's been talk that Sony's PlayStation 4 will as well, though it's not as clear if IBM will supply Sony with the CPU. One thing that puzzled us a bit was why Microsoft had to get next-gen Xbox chips into production so soon, given that the product itself may not be released until November for the holiday season. Demerjian doesn't say a lot about why he thinks the race is on for Redmond A Much More Complex Platform Demerjian's thinking may simply be that Xbox game and content developers will need time to deliver a decent amount of content for the new platform at launch. Patrick Moorhead, principal analyst for Moor Insights & Strategy, said as much but also suggested that Microsoft may plan to release the new console sooner than the Thanksgiving timeframe. "The dates depend on exactly when Microsoft would want to launch in volume. If they want to launch in volume for back-to-school, they would need to have new units available in May for a full channel fill and launch by August," Moorhead told PCMag. "To hit May, they would need to have silicon ready by January. If the new units need to be available by Thanksgiving to hit the holiday cycle, you can push everything out three months and silicon needs to be ready by April," he continued. "Developers optimally would need units with early silicon now, though, or they would have a very hard time writing a compelling, optimized game for the new platform." There are some other things to think about here. The Xbox is no longer just a game platform—it's a media consumption device, as well. Consider too that Microsoft introduced the Kinect $99.99 at Kmart motion sensor fairly late in the Xbox 360's run and there's evidence the software giant's plans to more fully integrate Kinect and possibly some other major input and interface changes (perhaps a touch screen, a a tie-in to the Surface tablet and maybe even reality augmentation glasses) to its next console. So the Xbox 720, or whatever it's called, is likely to be a much more complex and versatile platform than even the 360. It makes sense that Microsoft would want to get dev systems out to the Xbox ecosystem as soon as possible, even if the general release is nine months away.

  6. Source-Examiner Speculation is mounting that Microsoft will announce a new games console, dubbed the Xbox 720, at the E3 video games show later this year. Rumours began when Lawrence Hryb, Microsoft's director of programming for Xbox Live, posted a timer on his blog counting down to E3 2013, the video games show that takes place in Los Angeles in June. However, Microsoft has not announced plans for a new console and, though fans refer to the successor to the Xbox 360 as the Xbox 720, it is not known what the next generation console will be called when it is eventually announced. Microsoft launched the Xbox 360 in 2005, replacing the original Xbox which was released in 2002. The move gave Microsoft an advantage over rival Sony, which did not release the PlayStation 3 until 2006. It is now generally felt that both those consoles are coming to the end of their product cycles, though it is not clear when replacements might be forthcoming from either company. A new console is a major investment and one that doesn't make its money back for some time. It takes time to sell new consoles in significant numbers and the best games and services are seldom released in the early days of a new machine because developers need time to learn the new hardware.
  7. Details On The First Batch Of 'Call of Duty: Black Ops 2' DLC Leaked Posted 6 hours ago by Don Hatfield in PC, PS3, Wii U, Xbox 360 Well, it doesn't look like Activision and Treyarch are wasting any time bringing DLC to the "Black Ops 2" playing masses. Nothing has been confirmed, but some initial details on the first batch of new multiplayer maps recently leaked. The supposed expansion is called "Revolution" and if the leaked image above (spotted and tweeted by @RaptorClaw141) is anything to go by, the first batch of DLC for Black Ops 2 will deliver four new multiplayer maps, along with a new map for the zombies mode and a new weapon. Apparently, the multiplayer maps are named Hydro, Downhill, Grind and Mirage. The zombies map on the other hand looks to be dubbed Die Rise, and the new weapon players will be getting their hands on is the Peacekeeper SMG. Obviously, we can't confirm whether or not the gun will be usable in standard multiplayer matches or confined to zombies mode, but it certainly appears to be on the way. Like almost all of the DLC we've seen for Call of Duty games over the past few years, it looks like this download will be exclusive to Xbox 360 for a certain amount of time before heading to PS3 or Wii U players. The image shows a release date for January 29th. We'll update all of you as soon as Activision comes forward with an official announcement. Until then, hit the comments and tell us what kind of maps you'd like to see in "Revolution".
  8. i guess xbox 720 is addicting name lol
  9. Not comfirmed just a hint hint i guess. Source-Examiner And it's on. In a strange event today, Microsoft's Larry 'Major Nelson' Hryb has posted a countdown clock leading up to E3 2013. Just 159 more days until the industry's largest trade show kicks off. We must ask ourselves, though, why so soon? "What's next?" E3's tagline asks, answering itself with "Now." Clearly, there's some meaning behind this, and we're thinking it could be the next Xbox console, referred to by many as the Xbox 720. There's something strange about Nelson's post and E3's tagline, which I'm assuming are related. First, gamers have been clamoring for what the future holds for Microsoft and Sony in terms of new consoles, most notably when we're going to see a next Xbox or PlayStation. Perhaps, we'll see it "now", in June, during E3. I'll tell ya what's next, the Xbox 720, or Xbox Durango, or whatever you want to call it. Secondly, why would Microsoft be posting about the event so early in the year? Unless...they are planning some sort of big reveal, like a new console. It's not too far fetched. Rumors regarding a 2013 Xbox announcement and late 2013/early 2014 release have been ongoing for months now. We've heard speculation, seen leaked documents, analyzed Microsoft's comments, all seeming to indicate a new Xbox is on the horizon. 159 more days and it's on. Some have claimed we'll hear something from Microsoft even before E3, but I'm betting they are saving the official announcement for the event. Why else would they be posting a countdown clock so early? Something big is on the horizon. What's next? The next generation Xbox, and the next is now...or in June, when E3 takes place
  10. Minecraft Xbox 360 update 7 bug fix to release in January Sorts out Nether Fortress spawn problems, among other things Source-Examiner Minecraft Xbox 360 update 7 bug fix to release in January Sorts out Nether Fortress spawn problems, among other things This little factoid's from December - sorry, we were too busy ingesting unhealthy quantities of sherry and roast potato to write about it. 4J Studios is working on a bug fix for the most recent Minecraft Xbox 360 update, tackling a number of problems such as the non-appearance of new features in pre-existing Minecraft worlds. "We've been working on bug fixes for some problems people have found in TU7," observes a tweet. "A new update with fixes will be released in January." Among other tweaks, the developer "is going to change the code to ensure you get a Nether Fortress, Blazes and Nether Wart in the Nether in a new world". How are you getting on with the latest version of Minecraft? Brewed any tasty potions lately? And what's the most powerful enchantment you've conjured?
  11. this special Cortana-themed cocktail. halo 4 cortana cocktail This delightfully blue drink is made up from Blue Curacao, Alize Bleu Passion, UV Blue Vodka, Blueberry Lemonade Mio, and a bit of Sprite or 7UP. Here’s the full recipe: Ingredients: 1.5 parts Blue Curacao 2 parts Alizé Bleu Passion 2 parts UV Blue Vodka 1 squeeze Blueberry Lemonade Mio Lemon Lime soda Directions: Pour the Blue Curacao over ice into a hurricane or equally tall glass. Float Alizé atop Curacao. Float vodka atop Alizé. Gently pour your lemon lime soda nearing the top. Squeeze a shot of blue concentrated flavoring (Mio). She’s waited a long time for this, John. Savor the moment as if it’s your last. Between the vodka and the two other alcoholic ingredients, you definitely won’t be feeling any pain after a few of these. Though it might just affect your ability to effectively take down Covenant and Promethean warriors. The Cortana Cocktail was made by Clint Slowik, and is featured up on The Drunken Moogle, where you can also find Clint’s other Halo concoction, the awesomely-colored Master Chief. I REPEAT I DID NOT MAKE THIS, I FOUND THIS ONLINE. I DO NOT DRINK! thank you(lol)

  14. Source-Examiner Xbox Live members affected by a recent outage of the Cloud Saved Games feature will be treated to an additional month of membership on the house. Xbox Live's Cloud Saved Games lets members store their saved games online so they can play them on a different console and pick up where they left off. An outage that hit Xbox Live on Friday also took the Saved Game feature offline, according to gaming blog site Joystiq. Microsoft apparently spent most of the weekend trying to resolve the problem. And as of early Monday, all issues had been fixed, Microsoft spokesman Larry Hryb, who blogs under his gamer tag, Major Nelson, noted today. To assuage all affected Xbox Live users, Microsoft will credit them a free month of membership, without having to ask for it, Major Nelson added. Alex Garden, general manager of Xbox Live, wrote in a note: We want to thank all of our Xbox Live members impacted by the Cloud Saved Games service issue for your patience and understanding. It took longer than we expected to get back to full performance as we needed to ensure the integrity of everyone's game saves. Whether you couldn't access your game saves for a couple of hours or a couple of days, we sincerely apologize for the delay and inconvenience. We will be automatically applying a one-month extension to the Xbox Live Gold memberships of everyone who was impacted. We can assure you we'll also be doing a thorough post mortem to help prevent this from happening again.

  20. Every Day till Christmas you are gonna hear something that is funny to you. I Call This Halo Fall Of Reach The Song(Day 1) Enjoy It was the night before, the Fall of Reach Not a creature was stirring, not even The Chief The Civilians just shopped, they didn't care Hoping that the Covenant would never be there The Chief was nestled all snug in his chamber While dreaming of tea bagging a bunch of elite Rangers And Halsey in her lab was wishing for Spartan 3's Could see the coming of Winter Con-tin-gency When out in the field, there arose such an explosion "My sensor, my sensor! It detects a lot of motion" Pull out my pistol and pull the trigger in a flash To mow down a line grunts screaming as they dashed The sun on the breast of an evergreen field Horror and death, is all this would yield Wow, what to my wondering eyes should appear A Covie drop ship, the length of a light year A Pelican approached, so lively and quick I knew in a moment, it must be Noble 6 More rapid than Moa, his squad members came And over the com he screamed and he shouted and called them by name "Now Jun, and Emile, and Carter and Kat" Jorge came with his turret, shortly after that "To the end of the field, to the top of the hill!" "Stop em in their tracks Spartans" - They were born to kill As dry leaves that before were only covered in mud Were now soaked in a thicker Covie Blue blood So up to the hill top, the Pelican flew With all of Noble, and number 6 too And then, in a moment, I heard over the Com "They are everywhere! and they are dropping bombs!" I threw on my helmet and was turning around Down came the Pelican, with Noble Team a bound They were all dressed in metal, from head to their feet Their acquaintance, No covie ******* wished to meet Their armor grand, amazing, customized and unreal I had to ask "What rank do you get that helm Emile?" Then a Warthog, dropped in for us out of the sky I was going to be Noble 7, I could see it in their eyes Kat threw up her arms and proclaimed, "I'll Drive" "No!", said the rest of Noble, "we wish to stay alive" I tightly gripped the wheel, made me feel alive I ramped over a hill, and made that pig fly Rockets from the Hog screamed over my head Killionaire OH MY!, that was 10 covies dead! A Grunt was chubby and plump, a right jolly ol elf More horrifying than I imagined, I thought, in spite of myself In the blink of an eye and twist of his head Noble 6 assassinated him, he was real dead 6 spoke not a word, but went straight to his job He filled up on ammo, grenades and scooped up a Fuel Rod And pointing his finger straight at the pillar of autumn I knew what he meant, I understood, I got em He sprang off his 'Goose, to his team he gave a whistle No one had responded, they all went tragically missin' In the distance, I heard 6 scream, "For Reach, For Human beings" Reach was gone, but this was only the beginning. Credit goes to BigRob757 on Bungie.net for this amazing poem. Have a Holly Jolly Christmas 343. (Day 1)
  21. ^ ignore that lol Xbox 720 games Black Isle Studios have unveiled that they are about to begin work on a new post-apocalyptic strategy RPG that looks to be Xbox 720 bound. According to a report from VG24/7 yesterday, the studio has released an end of the world themed video where they announce they are working on more games for release. The studio has also released details information regarding their upcoming post-apocalyptic strategy RPG. "Project V13 is the first planned Black Isle Studios release in years, a post-apocalyptic strategy RPG. You will create a character to represent yourself within the game world. "Your character will be a hardy adventurer from a variety of backgrounds; one of the last remaining humans, a new breed mutant, or a technologically advanced cyborg. The choice is yours. Black Isle's message clip "Once you have determined your character’s background, you will found your colony," the statement read. It goes on to talk about some more details as well as some of the tasks each player will be assigned with. "Attract non-player characters for guards, peons, scientists, and other activities. Or, if you are the type that so desires, shanghai the NPCs. Put them to work rebuilding your society and improving your colony. "Meanwhile, you will experience grand adventures to gather the resources and ancient technologies as well as fight back the enemy hordes. "Your character will gain experience, advance skills, learn new talents, and gain access to incredibly powerful equipment. Or die trying," the statement read.
  22. Minecraft News A documentary called "Minecraft: The Story of Mojang," which tells the story of the game and its creator, Markus "Notch" Persson, will stream Saturday at 5 p.m. Pacific time on Xbox Live. For those not familiar with Minecraft, in short, it's a virtual world created and distributed by Persson's company, Mojang, where people go to build and craft all sorts of things, sometimes alone, sometimes in groups. What gives the game its charm, however, is that it has a deeply retro look, using graphics that look as if they came out of the early 1980s. PHOTOS: Top 10 tech products of 2012 The result is a blocky look and feel that has captured the imaginations of millions of kids (and many adults) around the world. It's also one of the most astonishing independent gaming success stories in years. In an era when people are wondering if software-based games are in decline, Minecraft became a word-of-mouth phenomenon initially created by just a handful of programmers. The documentary was produced by 2 Player Productions, which funded the project with the obligatory Kickstarter campaign. And if you don't have an Xbox, don't despair. Sales of DVDs will go on sale Dec. 23 (Note to producers: http://www.trbimg.co...m-satur-001/600
