  2. Bungie is designing it’s MMOFPS Destiny to be played on your own, if you prefer. But the developer has now dropped a heavy hint that the end-game missions may require you to team up with some other players. “You absolutely are going to be able to play Destiny by yourself and have the same kind of fun shooter-experience that you could have in a single-player campaign, which is a word that we’ve weeded out of our vocabulary,” Bungie’s Jason Jones told Game Informer. “But we’re going to give you this great player-progression on top of that, and we’re going to give you as many opportunities as we possibly can to expose you to other people, so that hopefully you’re drawn into some social experiences, because those are incredibly powerful and interesting, but we’re not going to force those on you. “We describe it in a lot of ways as sloping the floor towards socialization, without putting a requirement on it,” he continued. “I would say that there’s some sort of – if you wanted to talk about it in MMO terms, you’d say ‘end-game activities’, but some of the most intense non-competitive activities in the game do require cooperation. They require a group of players to tackle at once. “I guess at some variable, distant endpoint we are going to say, ‘Yeah, if you show up at this door, and you don’t have five friends, you’re not going to be able to succeed,’ but the core experience that solo players have enjoyed in shooters, they’re going to be able to get that, and we’re going to pull many of them into social experiences as well.” So, it sounds as if it won’t just be a case of these missions being too difficult to tackle alone, but rather that being part of a team will be a requirement. 6. Microsoft has announced a one-day sale for “Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition.” According to a report from the Major Nelson blog on Dec. 13, the company will be discounting several skin and texture packs by 50 percent for a limited amount of time. The sale coincide with the announcement of “Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition” selling 10 million copies since release. The mash-up packs, which were introduced in a recent title update for the open-world sandbox video game, won’t be a part of the deal. Skin Pack 1 Skin Pack 2 Skin Pack 3 Skin Pack 4 Skin Pack 5 Battle & Beasts Skin Pack Festive Skin Pack Plastic Texture Pack Battle & Beasts 2 Skin Pack Natural Texture Pack Fantasy Texture Pack “Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition” came out digitally through the Xbox Live Marketplace on May 9, 2012 and then to retailers on June 4, 2013. Although the console port does not allow user-created mods, 4J Studios developed the skin and texture packs as compensation. The trial versions of the downloadable contents can be played for free but will need to be purchased in order to unlock the full features. The aforementioned 4J Studios development team is also responsible for porting “Minecraft” to the PS3, PS4 and Xbox One home consoles as well as the Playstation Vita handheld system. The release dates for the forthcoming ports have not yet been announced. The “Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition” skin and texture packs one-day sale will begin on Dec. 14. Source-Examiner View full article

  11. Rockstar Games will release Grand Theft Auto V story downloadable content in 2014, the developer announced today through its website. "We have big plans for substantial additions in 2014 continuing Michael, Franklin, and Trevor's action, mayhem, and unexpected adventures in Southern San Andreas," Rockstar said. No new single-player content for GTAV has been announced to date. Predecessor Grand Theft Auto IV welcomed two post-release expansions: The Lost and the Damned and The Ballad of *** Tony. Also planned for 2014 are GTA Online Heists. Rockstar said it is currently working "very hard" to polish them as best it can before release next year, though no other details were revealed. Rockstar also teased today that it has "much more" to announce regarding 2014 plans for GTAV and GTA Online. Source-gamespot

  13. Halo: Spartan Assault for Xbox One will land on December 24th, Microsoft has confirmed, though Xbox 360 owners will have to wait into the new year to get their hands on the much-anticipated game. The title – which slots in-between the plots of Halo 3 and Halo 4 in the in-game universe – will be offered as a digital download for the next-gen console, after having gone on sale for Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 users earlier in 2013, though there’ll be some new tweaks to suit the Xbox One. For the Xbox One, there’ll be 1080/60p graphics in addition to a new online multiplayer option. That adds five new missions played from a top-down camera view, for cooperative multiplayer gaming; you’ll need an Xbox Live subscription to access it, though, and Microsoft points out that it’s not cross-platform compatible between Xbox One and Xbox 360. Meanwhile, there are also new enemies that have been added in the Xbox version, with the Flood debuting in Spartan Assault, and new weapons – like the original Halo Battle Rifle – and armor to fight them with. The game will be integrated with the Xbox One Achievements system, too, keeping track of your play. source-slashgear
  14. If you saw the trailers tonight at the VGX for Titanfall you saw the phone number listed “1-888-88TITAN”. If you call that phone number it brings you to this pre-recorded message and brings up the words “Ask your sales associate about our upcoming live fire beta test, bookings are going fast, with limited availability“. So far there hasn’t been any confirmation from Microsoft or Titanfall on the beta, stay tuned to TeamBeyond.net for upcoming Titanfall news. 15. There’s a forum post making the rounds on the internet making big promises about Microsoft's MSFT +0.94% Xbox One — by going into the system and enabling developer tools, it says, you can make your console backwards compatible (capable of playing Xbox 360 games). This isn’t true, and playing around with those tools could render your system bricked. Microsoft’s Larry “Major Nelson” tweets: “To be clear there is no way to make your Xbox One backwards compatible & performing steps to attempt this could make your console inoperable.” Microsoft eventually wants every Xbox One to have the same functionality as a developer kit, and that’s why some of these tools are already accessible on the console. But the feature is far from ready, so trying to use it can put your console into an endless boot loop. Both Microsoft and Sony have hinted that they may make classic Xbox 360 and Ps3 games available via streaming, but right now the system architecture is too different to allow the consoles to play old games themselves. Microsoft doled out free games to anyone who got a bricked console at retail, but you can bet it won’t be quite so generous with people trying to hack their consoles. As a rule of thumb, these sorts of things are best avoided unless you’re absolutely sure of what you’re doing, or willing to risk a broken machine. 19. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hX6DNaU3_tE Titanfall developer Respawn Entertainment stopped by VGX 2013 to unveil a second Titan class, the Ogre, in some clips of new gameplay footage. The studio previously showed off the Atlas class, an agile unit. The Titan known as the Ogre is equipped with heavy armor and is more of a slow, lumbering beast. In the video, you can see the Ogre's finishing move: ripping off a Titan's arm and using it as a weapon. Respawn also teased one of the story elements of Titanfall: Hammond Robotics, the corporation that manufactures and maintains the Titans. Titanfall will be released March 11, 2014, on Xbox One, Xbox 360 and Windows PC, and according to publisher Electronic Arts, it will remain exclusive to those platforms "for the life of the title." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NIvf-FVB6hc Near the end of the VGX show, co-hosts Geoff Keighley and Joel McHale premiered a second Titanfall trailer that introduced another new Titan class: the Stryder. This Titan has relatively light armor, but it boasts better speed, acceleration and agility than all other Titan classes. After showing off the Stryder, the trailer moved into gameplay footage of a battle between a Stryder and an Ogre. Also TitanFall will not be using Kinect. source-Polygon View full article

  22. Turtle Beach offers headset upgrade for Xbox One owners The selection of Xbox One headsets is fairly slim at the moment, but Turtle Beach has a solution in the form of an audio adapter that allows a handful of its headsets to plug into the new console’s controller. For a limited time, the company is offering that adapter as a free upgrade for those that purchase a participating headset between November 22, 2013, and January 30, 2014. If you’ve nabbed a Turtle Beach XP400, XP510, XP SEVEN, or X42 since the console’s launch – or if you plan to get one in the next two months – then you’re eligible. To redeem the offer, simply click this link and follow the instructions from there. Note that you’ll need a valid receipt, and a photo of said receipt in order to get your adapter. Once you submit all of the necessary info and documentation, Turtle Beach will take it from there. The Xbox One ships with a chat headset in the box, and the new Kinect is also chat-capable, but Turtle Beach cans allow you to pipe both game audio and chat into your ears. There’s only a limited range of options available specifically for the Xbox One in the third-party space, and Turtle Beach’s offer may be preferable since you effectively get a headset that works with both the Xbox One and Xbox 360.
