What would you name your UNSC/Covenant Ship?
Azeraph replied to Archangel Tyrael's topic in General Discussion
UNSC Infinity class "Delicate Harmony" -
I think Requiem does get canned if you go by spartan ops 9. I've been wondering about it as it would pose a bit of a dilemma with the next game.

The Chief and majestic go after the Didact when reports start coming in of strange attacks on unsc out posts. The reports analyses of the scene find traces of promethean energy signatures as well as a ghost imprint in the outposts core of something familiar. The hunt is a blind to draw attention away from requiem only to find the storm has left. H5 introduces a new promethean. The predator More humanoid and smaller in height but faster in speed than an elite, can use a multiple set of weapons and can change forms as well as cloak itself. It usually runs alone or as a backup. Deadly. Multiplayer lets you play who ever from their perspective. Anyone would like to add anything or anything that doesn't look right?

Unsc mixed units Or Unsc citizen Elite units and Brute and jackal units. These are made up of refugee's that want to become Unsc citizens. Too much of an impossibility? The Kilo 5 trilogy opens the path for speculative story lines.

How about a handicap on the energy weapons. They take damage on a red bar and when it reaches full damage they explode. UNSC weapons could take damage but eventually stop working or fall apart It would be good to target an enemies weapons but at the same time hinder reload. A Promethean hardlight ball as a armor capability for them. They roll around knocking anything over.

What we have on the war is mostly in the terminals, the books only lightly touch on it here and there. So, Mainly using what we know from the terminals the war was started by us who were not trying to start a war but trying to firebreak the flood or get ahead of it and if we did get ahead of it we would have been faced with a choice of still wiping out whole systems or warn them or fortify them. A firebreak would of been the only true effective way to stem the floods spread, a dead zone of no life. We were also being forced to cross into forerunner territory from fleeing human populations, If anything, we employed primitive imperialistic warfare where is the forerunners used their considerable advanced technology to uproot whole races from their native home systems and resettle them elsewhere in the galaxy after they surrendered or came to an agreement through other means. We were on the run as well as trying to stop the spread of the flood. The forerunner empire covered all the inner arms of the galaxy and in one excerpt it states that there was over 3 million worlds settled in the empire but it's safe to say that this excerpt will be ignored as it throws a spanner in the works. They were a million years or so ahead of us in advancement, all we had was weapons that could break their shielding, we weren't winning, we just surprised them and they were slow to react but once they did they simply overwhelmed us with numbers and attrition. Any points i've left out is unintentional so correction is welcome on my part as i've had to reread the books a few times and i still get some things messed up.

Yes but the Promethean sect of the forerunners were composed willingly first then the Didact needed more and that's when he went and composed a whole halo rings population of humans. There should be a mix of forerunner skulls as well as human, if going by the canon.

ODST infinity. Try keeping all your marines alive in H4's campaign, it's hard but not impossible. It would be great to have a squad tasked to back up the S4's and then get separated and have to fight just to stay alive while moving to a secure location which takes them into a wild fight for possession of a A.I hub core with some stormers. This core when integrated with a S4's suit can track promethean movement aswel as transport location but it also highlights the user to the prometheans. A tragic ending would be good where they fight to the last man trying to hold out for the SAR team that is dropping down on their location, Storm bodies everywhere in a hell blowout against overwhelming odds and one ODST left cradling the hub pointing his magnum at approaching S4's."Stand down Sargent, Squad leader Reager , We're your pickup" The blood covered ODST blinded by shrapnel and pushed to his limit frantically points his weapon in all directions "Like hell your gonna take me fracken hingehead!" Reager jumps and disarms the wounded ODST who flops back trying to swing a roundhouse in a desperate last act of defiance "I said stand down NOW!, MEDIC!" In a croaking whisper the sargent asks "My team sir?" Reager looked around in honest amazement at the carnage that this small team had reaped upon the storms. Reager looked at the medic who shook his head while trying to staunch the flow of blood. "What's your name Sargent?" "ODST Sargent Niall Copland sir" The ODST's voice became labored. "Words just come down on TACCOM Sarge, you and your team have been raised to Spartan status for completing a Spartan teams mission and bringing hell on earth like only Spartans can, Spartan Niall" Sargent Niall shook his head from side to side "But sir, we all took the test and failed, I don't understand?" Reager dropped to one knee and grabbed nialls hand "Your bodies failed Spartan, not your hearts. Mission accomplished" (Edited =) Reager held his hand until niall's chest gave one last heave and stopped rising and stood still in awe at the carnage. "Tamalain! you have enemy numbers yet?" "Sir, no sir but a rough guestimate puts it around 2 to 250 enemy dead sir, Honestly sir, 12 ODST's? If we weren't physically here right now with the evidence right in front of our eye's and I still can't believe it" "Spartans, Tamalain spartans" said Reager as he bent to retrieve the hub "Aye Sir that they were" Amateurish but hey not bad for my first go at it he he.

They should have taken the game across the formats, if they don't they risk the franchise dying on them. You're right, The average person who is not a fan that follows the line wouldn't know what they were looking at when they were playing it the first time through.

If i remember right the San Shyuum elected to break the alliance and seek peace and that in the end it was just the stalwarts of the San Shyuum that stayed with humanity on Charum Hakor. We all know that some of those Prometheans should have human skulls and some should have Forerunners skulls. The San Shyuum were technologically more advanced than we humans and their alliance with us was commented on by the Didact to be short lived if it was to continue a century more. It's in the books. The combined technologies of the two races produced weaponry that could check the forerunner technology but it was still less advanced and our combined numbers was still the smaller of the two.

His character was very well written, They should bring him back as a shill for Parankowsky sent in to try and block the chief at every turn in H5
-
They will bring her back but the way they mixed her last words to the chief was friggin sexy.

I missed one point that will void most of my previous content, Del Rio didn't have any intel on whether the Didact could use that invasive scan on his ship again and he did state that the ship couldn't take another "Punture"? The way they scripted it is quite masterfully done. On one hand he can't be faulted for not trying to get his ship out of a death trap that in all earnest was complete enemy held territory, 2nd, The Covenant forces attacking his ship would've been a surprise and a forerunner installation that was hostile to humans. Zero intel on enemy numbers and resources and an unknown forerunner threat and his ship run aground, if anything if he held any animosity towards the chief it would be over the the fact that he brought his ship in too close to requiem but again it comes down to not having any intel especially when they had become use to the fact that forerunner installations were generally friendly to humans. I've been wondering if Del rio was a parankowsky plant all along, she after all is the great spider. Hood just hasn't been portrayed as a competent chest player and he has a sense of honour. In interdepartmental politics honour is the first thing to go. This wasn't the first op for him and his ship was ship shape, she had gone through her shakedown trials and was the equivalent of the Bismarck when she finally set out for her first patrol, Now that was a ship! The british had no recourse but to take her out before she got out to open water and started moving around otherwise she would've been the Grim Reaper once she had her compliment of supprt ships backing her up.

500 years is a long time to envision, We can only truly go off of what we know of the canon and those few of you that have had combat or field experience. There's not much sci fi that has dealt with a scenario where there is a ship like the Infinity. It's about six k's in length so, would there be Marine core country? Spartan country? Jock country? and hell! i would put the bridge and opscenter or CIC in the center of the ship. Did you know that the Unsc designs for the ships are so reminiscent of a cheesy sci fi i used to watch from the 90's called Babylon 5 that i laughed my head off when i saw them in this game. You ex forces know the system used now and the game does try to give it a sense of authenticity though it is just a game i'm sure a lot of people would like to see something close to or near enough of what we know for these days. In your opinion how many marines would it take to take down one elite? Actually what would Palmers rank be? She says she's the commander of all spartan teams but what hell is that? and shouldn't she have her xo and subordinates?
-
I was wrong, The infinity didn't have shields but it is a complete military machine all rolled up in one, a base ship that could in earnest take on 3 capital class covenant ships in a point confrontation. It carries 8? destroyer class ships? as well as a crap load of sabre and sword fighters as well as it's pelican complement, not to mention it's on board defensive and offensive capabilities. With no shields it still wouldn't be worth taking on, it could deploy everything and lockup a requiem entrance all to it's self (which i think it has done). Where was Del Rio's command staff other than Lasky and Palmer? Lasky didn't need to put boots on land and Palmer should of handled all ground ops not lasky himself. Any navy boys on site? Do Xo's ever leave their ships?

I know this is going to sound stupid but your in mourning as she was so integral to the experience of the game, You're not the first or the last to feel this way. A lot of the old fans who bought the first Box are still a little in shock over it but this is how it must be, evolution. I personally will miss the "one liners" In H4 the only one liner i laughed at was "I can't exactly get out and push" It's the only one liner that i've found. Anyone else found any? "Mourning" is a bit serious but how else is one to use to describe the shock of watching a character in a story that has been with the story since the begining slowly and artfully done i might add die.

Yes, the brand needs to be taken over to other formats and there is a possible light at the end of the tunnel, MS in their advertising for project leaders were looking for people experienced in cross format game creation. It's speculation but it does get one to wondering why they would be looking for this type of person if H5 is only for Xbox. I don't have a link yet but i'll throw it once i find it again.

Del Rio did the right thing as Medscu and others have pointed out but he didn't need to RTB, they had taken out the gravity well, He could of begun harassing operations of the storms remaining fleet. Whittle down their secondaries and damage as much ships as he can, at the same time begun proper recon ops of Requiem. Infinity had shields when she left, she wasn't limping out. He could've parked close to the opening and none of those ships would've tried an old ship of the line blaze of glory even in concert. He might come back though, In prologue it's the voice actors voice who voices Del rio that is halsies interrogator, it could've been Del Rio.

Mate, We're talking about a human technology that states when used destroys the target brain, they don't say digitize they specifically state destroy, it's not forerunner tech and the process is different. What about the Covenant A.I? they would follow similar lines to the forerunner. One thing people must understand with living cells is that they won't conform to how you want them to be whenever you want, Hell we still have'nt found where is the subconscious mind yet or if there is a set of brain clocks or just one clock. The newest discovery we have in genetic engineering is pluripotent stem cells, which will herald in the age of actual testing of our own tissues without testing a drug or therapy on our own bodies. Corty didn't start out as a living breathing human, she was generated from the neural map of a human. She states that she can be regenerated but there is no mention anywhere that she can be mapped onto a living brain, brain cells don't rearrange instantly, no cell does. Ok we have the forerunners storing persona's and memories deep within the cells but they have to be put there first. To take a leaf out of some sci-fi greats, grow a clone of halsey to baby stage with a neural i/o implant filament network throughout the developing brain and have her move into it influencing it's neural maps gradual growth until the thought patterns sync, it'a all about mirror and sync otherwise you are not going to get her persona and you won't get her knowledge base either unless a part of her remains based in the i/o implant to access external data. So the Q is will it be her in the flesh? or will it be just an extension of her A.I matrix and truly human, though why go through all this trouble when you can just have the i/o implant act as a go between. a Part of you is constantly recorded in real time and synced to your every thought process where you will not be able to tell the difference between what is digital and what is not. What's funny is that our nerve cells set up a virtual field around themselves or says some bio engineers working with tissue and organ growths.

I don't think Corty can jump to the organic as the human process that created her didn't digitize halsies clone's brain but destroyed it as it did it's map through of her neural network, the forerunner process digitized the body but it doesn't take all the physical matter into storage. Corty is different because she was created from living tissue as opposed to the usual A.I proess of using dead tissue. In the game she tells the chief that if she can get back to halsey they might be able to reinitialize her core matrix by repeating the process of her creation using another clone, possibly. There is one possible way. Clone halsey again then map corty's network onto the clones or grow it onto the clones network. She won't have access to all of what she had before but she will be organic.

I've just read of something that is called the multi-tissue chip, not a processor but close to the idea. In 500 years we won't need digital hopefully.

So, The chief goes off and tries to find her? but where does he start? Where did the Didact fall to? Requiem. So....again he goes there only to find she has been so fragmented that parts of her has changed and not for the better, in the end he has to make a choice between her and those around him. Protect those that he has been trained to protect or retrieve a vital part of himself even if it is trying to kill him. Let's have a psychopathic Cortana being slowly retrieved but hurt as she can't reintegrate without losing parts of herself driving her to kill anything and everything.

Canon ruins creativity Director but it's good for reminding us to remember it now and then. If the chief doesn't get one then let's hope for a team that he can direct, they tried RTS why not another? This is great, the punters are starting to spec and flesh things out. Massive fan input to possible scenario's within canon boundaries is nothing but great fun, you never know we might actually work out a close enough approximation of the next installment.
