  1. Oh, the game is noob friendly? It's too easy now? Really? Why don't you go all MLG pro and show us all how it's done? If the game is so easy and noob friendly that is. Aim assist of all kinds have always been a huge part of Halo. It's what's helped to give the series that awesome "I'm a badass" feel. What makes Halo better than games like Quake and Unreal Tournament (See what I did there?) is that the culmination of Halo skill is NOT ONLY about having perfect aim. Aim is extremely important, and I'm willing to bet the OP gets handed by players with better aim on a regular basis. After all, most people do. But being good at Halo is about intelligence, knowing when and when not to use all the tools at your disposal, and just learning the game in and out. Being a 8/8 with aiming, and an 8/8 in Halo Strategy will run you a lot further than a guy who is 10 in aiming, but 6 in strategy. I'm really tired of people claiming that MP games are too easy, as if they're really that good. They never are.
  2. Who else is going to make a thread in hopes to get people to listen and agree to their poorly thought out whine fest so as to make them feel better about themselves? Probably a few people.
  3. Pretty much what was posted. The Shield perk is aweful. The only time it would actually make a difference at all is if you would have been shot in the one second (Literally, I think it's one second) that your shields actually begin to recharge. Otherwise, it's literally doing nothing for you. I heard a rumor that the regen speed applies when regened by a regen field. (Woah, three regens in one sentence). This is not true. I tested it. It does not assist in this. I was pretty shocked to find how pointless this perk is. Although, in regards to the OP, I really don't have an issue with the longer regen time. And I have plenty of good Regicide games as King. But oh well.
  4. Yeah upon closer inspection, almost everything about them is extremely... What's the word? Unpolished. The gameplay is inaccurate, jumpy, or sometimes not there at all. The sound effects have an odd dampened effect at times due presumably to the music. Grenades and other sandbox objects float there in the air. If the killer dies, the camera awkwardly follows his first person view to the floor. The timing of the killcam and the ability to still control your spartan is timed extremely awkwardly. They go by a wee bit fast. Slow mo would be nice. They're not present in most gametypes. But, I do like the idea of them, and prefer them in this state than not at all. Already I've been able to say to my friends, "You gotta see this kill," and sure enough, they got to see it.
  5. Just a word of advice, AA E. only saves you 1.5 seconds with the Thruster Pack. Not saying it's a bad idea, but just a heads up. It's not a lot of saved time. I'm on the fence. Yes, Thruster Pack is still useful and fun. Yes, it could become OP if it was say, doubled. But using it really does just sometimes leave something to be desired. I get that it can be applied as a close range juke, or long range dodge, but read the description. "Enables a powerful burst of movement offering the ability to evade or quickly close the gap." I just... Feel... Like it's a tad too weak. I don't know. Closing the gap with it almost never seem like a good idea. You could easily just sprint instead. Between the cooldown and small range, I really wouldn't call it very quick as far as crossing ground. It's fast as a very small dodge to cover, which is fine. But in general, I just feel that a few extra inches couldn't hurt it. You can't shoot while using it. You're fairly vulnerable when you touch down again. We already have the highly powerful PV, and the Camo in this game is pretty high tier as well. Making the Thruster Pack qualify as "Really Good" might be healthy for the sandbox. We might see less PV and Camo for a change. And some awesome Thruster plays.
  6. So far, I like the IDEA of this. The problem is that as it stands, we're missing just a few key playlists. Without delving too deeply into some of the more intricate complaints I have with the playlists, suffice to say the obvious: The following playlists should be permanent ASAP. Team Doubles Team Snipers Team SWAT Also, Regicide should probably be replaced by Rumble Pit. If they rotated OTHER, NON ESSENTIAL playlists, that would be great. Sort of like how this week had Team Regicide. But the thing is, I really like Team Regicide, and I do hope it becomes permanant. They seem to have some sort of rule where there cant be 3 or 4 more playlists than there is now, and I'm not sure why. Is it really that hard on the servers? Also, I would at some point like to see TEAM CHARGERS! (Railguns and Spartan Lasers) <3
  7. Yes, we know. I mean, I get complaining about maps, but complaining about DLC playlist because it has a strange offbeat gametype that few people even care about? Really stretching. Besides. I don't have to pay anything. I got the limited edition. Woo.
  8. I don't get it. If you're not hardscoping with the Binary, wtf are you doing? No scoping? And hoping to god you hit something? And yeah, pretty sure the Beam has like twice as much aim assist. It's awesome.
  9. I agree with everything in the thread. I LOVE the idea. And to be fair, it's not as if it takes up more of your time. They just show them while you otherwise would be doing nothing. And more often than not, they're funny. I've seen a few accurate ones though. What they should do is not shove them inbetween end game gameplay, it's awkward. You can move your spartan before and AFTER the killcam. Why not just wait and show them last. Fade to black after. And kill me, but if they're going to lift it from CoD, some slow mo would be nice.
  10. I just feel bad for people who want the Covie one, upon realizing that you need like 1000 kills with the Plasma Pistol. WIth. The. Plasma. Pistol. Why they couldn't have scaled that down, I don't know. Same with some of the UNSC ordinance really. Spartan Laser and Sticky Det. Require as much kills as the Sniper and Shotgun? Sadface...
  11. I would be fine with it if they released ranked playlists without such a feature. I mean... think about this. Halo 4 has yet to do this. CoD. CoD has done it. Yes, CoD. Black Ops 2 has a frankly wonderful little ranking system. Ranked CoD is really quite interesting, and something that works well for it. It would and has worked well for Halo as well. As you all know, in CoD you can JIP all day. In Ranked CoD now, they have no JIP, you have all gear unlocked, and they matchmake the game. You know, like Halo 3. (Also they use the Starctraft 2 rank system pretty much verbatim, which is pretty cool.) DO THIS FOR H4! I'm fine with JIP in "social" playlists, but these playlists look like their trying to be both social and ranked.
  12. If there's one thing Halo players have NEVER made up their freakin mind about, it's the Assault Rifle. It's a noob weapon. It's harder to kill someone with it than with the DMR. It's too powerful. It's too weak. It takes no skill to use. It takes a lot of skill to use at long range. It's stupid that you have to spawn with it because it sucks so bad. It's stupid that you don't have to spawn with it because now everyone has DMRs. It needs to be buffed. It needs to be nerfed. It wrecks in CQC. It gets wrecked in CQC. I swear guys. Settle this out before you go and talk about the sandbox as a whole... *rolls eyes
  13. You know, my friend had this exact issue, and somehow he fixed it. I'll see if I can ask him how.
  14. But... You don't... lose anything... for leveling? It's not CoD.
  15. I like the wolf one so much, I made it in Black Ops 2. xD
  16. I'm not getting a whole lot of natural lag on H4, but I'm curious, what exactly do you guys experience? Maybe I'm just not noticing. Is it like, big frame rate skips? Just, straight up non internet related lag? Is it random throughout any MM game, or only in big maps and stuff?
  17. Probably the noobiest question I've ever asked, especially considering I'm SR79. But... How do you throw the ball? I can never figure it out on the rare occasion I play Oddball. I do like what they've done with it, and I like the focus on TEAM Oddball which we almost never saw with H3/R. But yeah, how do you throw it, and how do you catch it? Well, I guess you auto catch it, which always confuses me and makes me die horribly.
  18. Soo... You didn't vote then? Boltshot is the "best" by quite a bit. Not to say the others don't have their uses. Plasma Pistol can have great utility, especially in Big Team. The magnum is a great compliment to an AR (Not going to touch on the actual usefulness of such a class). But all in all, the BS allows you to pull some serious BS. And lets you do things no other loadout weapon can do. That often result in stupid double kills.
  19. The game is a polished, well made game. It's not incomplete. Lot's of work went into it. That said, I would like to see things like... Doubles.
  20. I've had a decent experience on Complex. Also, I LOVE Team Regi. Most interesting playlist so far. I hope they continue to experiment with cool modes, this almost gives me that fuzzy feeling that was VIP. But not quite.
  21. I told myself I wouldn't make a thread like this till Halo had been out for a month. It's been that more or less. Overall, I really like the game. They did a lot of things well, and I will likely play it actively until H5. However, there are quite a few things that irk me. Some small, some not so small. I'm not going to touch on balance issues. They spark debate, and this is not meant to be the place for them. This is about what I, and you, want for Halo 4. In terms of content and maintenance. The following issues I consider very important, but also, very fixable. TIER 1 Issues: Major issues that will most likely be remedied soon The playlists. I enjoyed the unique approach of separating CTF, Oddball, and KOTH for a while to start. It was also nice that they added SWAT, then Team Snipers. However, I find it very odd that they took out Snipers, and Doubles is still absent. Meanwhile, CTF, Oddball, and KOTH are all low pop, and eating up space that could easily be combined. Furthermore, the addition of that FFA playlist no one seems to play. I do hope that's leaving in stead of something else tomorrow. No one seemed to have asked for it. They asked for Snipers, Doubles, and Lone Wolves. The thing is, while yes, this seems like it could be fixed any moment, this DLC business worries me, because they are definitely releasing two playlists around the DLC come the 10th. DLC, and Extraction. That doesn't seem like it will leave much room for the playlists that are missing. And Regicide really doesen't seem like it should replace Lone Wolves, AND Juggernaut. There's also some questionable aspects of the games themselves, like the weakness of the Magnum in Flood, and the lack of Objective and flood of power weapons and vehicles in BTIS. And Griffball. The maps. I like the maps for Halo 4. However, the handling of them has been quite strange in some ways. As it stands, there are 5 maps in 4v4, and 5 maps in 8v8. This is acceptable for launch. However, why does Ragnarok not appear in 4v4? They would provide a much needed change of pace, much like in H3. If they took out the Banshee and Mantis, it would be a great experience. Just like H3. Similarly, Complex seems like a map that could support 8v8 fairly well. Why not add it? Further boggling the mind is the absence of Relay, Accent, and Settler. The three forge variants that shipped with the game. I realize people criticized Reach for having SO MANY forge variants, but were talking about 1 per map. And these maps could add some much needed variety to the rotation. There's also the fact that 4v4, which normally has the majority, really seems to be getting shafted in time to come. Even when the proposed maps are added, and the DLC comes out, 2 of the DLC maps look to be 8v8, and only one looks to be 4v4. Even with the forge maps, again, 2 seem to be more 8v8, and only one seems small for 4v4. When all this is added as needed, we will still only have possibly 3 more maps in 4v4. Lag, Killcam failure, and lack of Final Killcam. The lag has been fairly decent in H4, although it definitely could use some work it seems. Better than H3 for sure I believe. The issue of the killcams seem odd and incosistant. Often times I don't even get a killcam, and when I do, they're occasionally very inaccurate. But then there was the issue of the game winning killcam. This was showcased before launch, and was there on the first day of play, then it vanished. These things are awesome! They're great fun, and I really regret they're removal, even if temporary. I hope they put these back in instead of scrapping them. TIER 2 Issues: Minor issues that may not be resolved, and some people don't care about them, but are still quite important The Gametypes. There are so many missing game-types and game options in this game, and it is quite unfortunate. To name them, we are missing the entirety of the classic gametypes, Assault(A little redundant) and Juggernaut(Not so redundant). We are also missing VIP from H3, an awesome mode. We are missing either VIP or the Race mode in Reach, causing issues for race communities. We are missing the Reach gametypes Stockpile and Headhunter, as well as some of the options in the present gametypes. Flag no longer supports 1 flag at all. There is no asymmetrical game like this. It's just... Gone. Even though we have maps like Complex and Abandon. Infection has much less options. Advanced options like 3 ball also seem to be gone. Overall, Custom games, in the realm of settings, have gotten pretty hit hard. All this seems to be reasonably easy to fix. No Campaign Theatre. This one at least they have addressed in a statement. It's also the most understandable, as it takes a lot of work. However, this means no more campaign SCREENSHOTS. Which is kind of terrible. We can't have awesome Screenshots of the day of the beautiful campaign and it's enemies. And chief. We can't have screenshots of Chief. Spartan Ops. This is the most subjective issue here. People may disagree. But I find the decision to make SO grant players infinite lives and time to complete the missions on any difficulty very odd. Playing them Solo Legendary is an incredibly awkward and unrewarding experience. You are often spawned right back in the middle of the battle, with no penalty. It's strange, because so much effort goes into these missions, and you just crudely rush into them, beating them in 10 minutes instead of taking the time to really approach them intelligently. I consider it a mistake in some ways. Future Issues: Issues that will eventually come to play Ranking. The slated system to release next year seems interesting, but also a bit strange. From what I've gathered, we'll have truskill. But it will be hidden from everyone. Out own truskill even, we can only see outside of the game. What butters my bacon here, is that this seems to be what we basically already have. We already have matchmaking based on a hidden truskill stat for all players. We just can't see it. So is the only real change here that we can now see our OWN skill, OUTSIDE of the game? And for what playlists? All of them? Shouldn't we get a few ranked and a few unranked? Shouldn't ranked just show everyone's rank like in H3? I guess we'll have to wait and see how it plays out. Future playlist support. I think the weakest thing about Reach, and still weak but much less so in H3, was the introduction of so many interesting playlists at least for a period of time. H3 gave us fun x2 exp weekend playlists. They were often interesting and different, although even then they were often odd repeats of hardly different games. What about some crazy modes once in a while? Like paintball? AR SWAT? Elimination? Team Railguns and Lasers? Jetpacks and Rockets? Infinite Hardlight and Sword? There's so many awesome little ideas that never come to light. I hope 343 keeps the primary playlists permanent next year (Doubles, Snipers), and experiments weekly with more interesting and rare games. (Team Binary, Team Overshields) They don't need to be perfectly balanced, just fun. And they could help get those impossible weapon prof. accomidations. A sticky det. gametype one week would be pretty appreciated for that purpose. User Maps. I don't know why Bungie was so stingy with this playlist. Why not have a playlist after a while 24/7 on the best community maps? They're exciting and fresh, and it was a very interesting playlist. They only had it up for about a week though. What gives? With H4, this playlist could be more interesting than ever.
  22. Especially for Big Team Slayer. If it was objective games, I wouldn't mind all the craziness as much. But since the playlist is exclusively slayer now, I think they should tone down the cluster.
