  1. Okay. Wow. I just have to say that I really haven't been concerned about the ranking system as compared to the progression system. All I've wanted this ENTIRE time was for 343i to address the situation or at least shed a little bit of light on the shroud of darkness that is the ranking system. Thank you bs angel, and yes, you can have my babies.
  2. The regular part of War Games will go from SR-1 (Spartan Rank) to SR-50. You can then "enlist" in 8 different Specializations, each incorporating an extra 10 Spartan Ranks to equal a total of SR-130. After SR-130, there are only Commendations to level up... In the Bulletin, they did hint at implementing some sort of a ranking feature further down the line. If they don't want Halo 4 to die, they're going to have to.
  3. I'm going to go out on a limb with empirical evidence and say that they're actually not getting what they want. They want a number representing their skill, not just playing opponents that are the same skill level as them. Believe it or not, there is a difference...
  4. Doesn't anyone remember the easter egg in Reach where you flew a Falcon/Banshee through a skyscrapper structure on New Alexandria and it automatically turned into a Pelican/Phantom (respectfully)?
  5. Who says that casual gamers don't enjoy ranking systems? Who says that competitive games don't enjoy progression systems? Why can't we just have both!?
  6. As far as War Games go, after SR-50, you do Specializations. After reaching SR-130 through Specializations, what do you do? Other than level up your Commendations, the answer is nothing. At least Reach made it so that to reach Inheritor, it took practically years of gaming. Getting to SR-130 shouldn't take more than a few months of playing...and then we're stuck with nothing. Hopefully by that point they decide to unleash ranks (invisible or visible) to at least add some incentive to playing.
  7. Well it does have a "game mode" but it only turns it down to like 40ms input lag. I'm just going to game on my SD TV for now and eventually buy an ASUS monitor when I buy a new Xbox too. Whateverrr. I did notice a pretty large difference between 720p and 1080p, but unfortunately it was still too much to allow me to play (especially since I'm extremely OCD when it comes to this matter). Thanks for all the suggestions guys, enjoy your "likes"
  8. I'm mostly excited to see a list of all the gametypes included in each individual playlist. I actually relied on Rockethog Race to get up my Downshift Commendations...haters gon' hate
  9. DING DING DING DING DING, TELL HIM WHAT HE'S WON, JOHNNY! EXACTLY.
  10. You can play it offline (not connected to the internet) with no worries. If you play with an internet connection before the market release date (November 6th), you're asking for it.
  11. Yeah, I understand that, but the people want a visible number to compare themselves to others.
  12. No worries...1. I don't think it even came out yet, and 2. We all already know that there isn't a ranking system, which was the only reason I was looking forward to the bulletin.
  13. Rule of thumb: don't play it online until it releases to the general public.
  14. It's been confirmed that the will be no ranking system based on skill, only on progression.
  15. As I said, it's an older Xbox so it doesn't have an HDMI input, only the trapezoidal shaped input which I use Component RBG/RW through. So you're saying if I hook everything up again and choose a lower resolution, such as 720p, the input lag won't be as noticeable compared to 1080p? I haven't tried that yet, but it sounds like a viable option...I'll post ITT when I try that later tonight. UPDATE: Although my model is out of production, I finally found it's Specification page and found out that it actually does have a Game Mode. I'm going to try that out tonight as well. Also, what do people feel about VGA adapters?
  16. Here's the deal: I have an older Xbox 360 (white with 30GB HD) that has the trapezoidal shaped output for either Composite or Component. I have been using it via Composite (red/white/yellow) on an SD TV (480i) for some time now due to ease of use. With Halo 4 coming out soon, I want to play it on my 55" HDTV (Sony Bravia model# KDL-55ex710) for the full effect. I transferred the Xbox 360 over and ordered an HD Component (red/white/red/blue/green) cable since my older model doesn't have an HDMI output. I popped in Reach, and the resolution and image of it looked quite wonderful. It was running 1080p no problem. The only problem is that there was about a 0.5 second input lag with the haptic feedback. I pressed the A button, and my Spartan jumped 0.5 seconds later. It was extremely agitating. I switched back to my SD TV since there is input lag whatsoever, but now yearn to play on the HDTV for Halo 4 due to the amazing graphics, larger TV, and, I mean, come on, it's a 55" HDTV. My question is: what can I do to reduce or completely eliminate input lag on the HDTV? From the research I've conducted so far, I've found that a "Game Mode" on the HDTV eliminates a lot of the background video processing, but my Sony Bravia doesn't have one. I've also asked myself if upgrading to a new Xbox 360 (black one) and use the HDMI output (since it's a digital cable instead of optical) would reduce or eliminate the input lag, but have found that that wouldn't produce a noticeable difference. Does anyone have any suggestions or methods that they use personally? I would love if an avid techy could supply some recommendations! P.S. The Bravia has 120Hz Trumotion, if that tells you more about the refresh rate. TL;DR - How do I eliminate input lag on an HDTV for gaming?
  17. Totally up to you, but I'm sticking with the Carbine. It's a toss up for me between the DMR/BR.
  18. BTW, this is what I'm playing at...I'd advise for anyone bothering to ask to start at Normal.
  19. Some things need to be powerful, some things don't
  20. It's impossible that they were blind to that fact. Fans were literally yelling at their faces to incorporate some sort of ranking system, or else the game will fail just like Reach.
