  1. Found this on Examiner. Turns out a Game Informer employee leaked some information from their October issue (which obviously isn't out yet). Some of it's old, some of it's new. Enjoy! _____________________________________________________________________________________ The Knights are one of three subdivisions within the Prometheans. Crawlers are basically cannon fodder to distract from the Knights. Watchers are support units. They can shield knights, spawn watchers, resurrect knights. Prometheans work together strategically. Frankie's example of a Knight sniping him, he takes cover behind a column, Crawlers attack him by crawling down from the column. Promethean weapons/equipment designed to fight Flood. There are different variants of Knights, watchers, and crawlers. Knight - Deadly warriors, use weapons like Light Rifle and Supressor. Knight Lancer - Scouts and Marksmen, use Promethean Vision to locate hidden enemies Knight Commander - Have skills of Knights, but can wield Incineration Cannons, stronger armor, Autosentry turrets Knight Battlewagon - Rare but incredibly dangerous, huge frames draped in heavy armor and hardlight shielding, can deploy Autosentries, will wield Scattershot if you get too close. (Orange patterns through body and on face, orange spikes on back. Super badass!) Watcher - Wield boltshots, summon crawlers, protect and resurrect Knights. Crawler - Agile and move in packs, fire Boltshot from distance Crawler Snipe - upgraded crawlers, no further details. I assume they keep larger ranges. Alpha Crawler - Lead packs of Crawlers, has a Supressor This is just details about the Prometheans, might be considered spoilers to some people. Warning, the information below may reveal spoilers to the story in Halo 4. This post has been promoted to an article
  2. Your argument is neither here nor there. Halo 4's storyline is extremely cohesion and canonical, which is what the first 3 were too. Sure, there may be some twists and turns, but it is going in the direction it should. Following the storyline of the novels.
  3. I plan on being flag carrier from now on. Love the magnum. I wonder if you'll still be able to use the magnum if you climb into a Warthog or on a Mongoose...normally it just reverted to 3rd person mode.
  4. " The Composer was a mysterious entity, possibly a Forerunner or a Forerunner machine, that had many capabilities, including the ability to extract the consciousness and memories of a sapient being. The Librarian employed the Composer when extracting the memories of the surviving human warriors after the Charum Hakkor campaign. The Lord of Admirals, supreme commander of all human forces and one of the humans to have their minds harvested, never saw the Composer directly and described its presence as "strange, ever-changing" and "multiformed", as it operated via Lifeworker machinery. The Composer was also capable of slowing down Flood infection and the subsequent loss of individuality. Some believed the Composer to be a "product of its own services"; a Forerunner, perhaps a Lifeworker, suspended in the final stages of Flood infection. According to Lifeworker Genemender Folder of Fortune, the Composer had once been "designed to save us all" which may have been referring to its ability to keep Flood infection in check. The Composer, or at least its handiwork, was present on Installation 07 around 100,000 BCE, where it was used by the Master Builder to stave off Flood infection in certain Forerunners to keep them in a docile state. This was accomplished through a form of harness which prevented the infectees' decaying bodies from breaking down. By that time, the Composer appeared to be a closely-guarded secret known only to few, as a Lifeworker monitor on Installation 07 did not have any information pertaining to it in its memory" Also, the 7th level in Halo 4 is entitled "Composer"; I would assume that it has to deal with it.
  5. I've seen visor colors that are unlocked via Specialization levelling, but are there other visor colors or ways to unlock them that i'm missing?
  6. Saw a video of Walshy playing with it, but he only used it twice and both times it missed.
  7. I wonder if The Composer will come into contact with Cortana and possibly fuse her with some other organic being. Maybe even Halsey.
  8. Play Reach Arena. People start getting really good when you finally earn your rank and get placed into games with players of equal skill. I've earned a rank of Onyx and the players are exceptional (of course I can keep up, but they're tough).
  9. I'm using Promethean weapons all day err day. They're intimidating and bada$$ looking.
  10. Not displaying an X is a great idea. It should still come up in the killfeed, but not displaying an X on your peripheral HUD would certainly hold true to a real-life "assassination". Quiet, swift, and subtle. This would make the ninja jump (quickly turn a corner, jump backwards over the enemies head, and assassinate them) quite tactical, since those are normally used when you're being chased and/or weak.
  11. This is true. Supposedly she can duplicate herself in the physical form. The script says that she restrains the Didact and causes him to drop a clenched-fist Chief.
  12. After reviewing the breakdown of each Specialization, I realize that trekking through each one will unlock certain armor, armor skins, weapon skins, etc, after ranking up levels 1 through 10 pertaining to specific permutations. My question: will this be the only way to unlock these customizations? It seems as if each Specialization unlocks 1 skin for 1 weapon or 1 piece of armor. How about all the other skins? I'm hoping that there are imbedded customization challenges (almost like Commendations from Reach) that, after hitting a certain goal, will unlock said-permutations. I.E. "Minigun - Kill an enemy with a Secondary Weapon" 100 kills unlocks _____ skin for Magnum 250 kills unlocks _____ skin for PP 500 kills unlocks _____ skin for Boltshot ...and so on. I just figured there must be a different way to be proud of what you're wearing beside earning a skin through playing the game a lot, or preordering it from a certain company. Edit: I just remembered that Xbox Achievements may play a role in unlocking certain customizations. Your thoughts?
  13. Although I hate to say it, I enjoy how there are "completion rewards" for completing certain challenges in CoD. I enjoy using every gun and learning the ins and outs to understand my advantage and others disadvantages. I plan on using every weapon in the game and setting up as many distinguished loadouts as possible. That being said, I think I'll use the Carbine mostly for primary. We'll see.
  14. I recall someone at some point saying that there will be a rank that is visible to everyone online (let's call this A1-A50), then you will have a personal rank that is only visible to you, based on skill (this can be B1-B50). This would mean that you will be placed into matchmaking games via your personal, secret rank B1-B50, and not based on your progressive rank A1-A50. Everyone would then know that the face-value rank A1-A50 does not regard your skill-level, but only how many weapons, grenades, and abilities you have unlocked via Spartan Points, or what have you I think this is a great idea because if you have a personal rank of B50, then you know already know yourself that you are a great player and you'll be playing with/against players of equal skill. Also, boosting isn't encouraged because you're the only one that can see your B rank. I.E. A frat house in college. Multiple bros will constantly be playing (ranking them up to A50 quickly and unlocking everything), but their B rank will be low since they'll be hammered off of Natty Light and Vlad all day
  15. I always thought the Didact was essentially a "good guy". From what i've read, it seems that he stood for what is right (anyone can chime in here and correct me). Everything said on this topic is very interesting; I just want it to be November 6th so I can figure out what's going on.
  16. Oh my dear science, do I miss those icons. I remember that getting to level 16 was called "getting your horns". And level 31+ is when players started to get good. Like really good. Everything above a 45 depended on who could stand-by more. Boy do I not miss those days of being standby'd in Head-to-head at level 10.
  17. I bet that the Light Rifle is the last Primary Weapon to unlock since it's new, intimidating, and probably the most powerful.
  18. I'm now seriously considering preordering the LE instead of just purchasing the SE and buying the Map Pass (or what have you) along side it. I like wearing armor that I unlocked myself by completing difficult tasks and achievements instead of wearing the one that you essentially purchased. I guess I assumed that the other 6 Specializations would be more or less "lifted" like the Rank Cap on Reach gradually instead of DLC, which will probably take a few months after initial release on the 6th.
  19. There is no way they'd implement playing as a Promethean. Elites had very similiar tactics/movement/abilities as Spartans, whereas Prometheans are basically mechanical robotic AI. I feel as if Halo 4 is focusing directly on the life of a Spartan aboard the UNSC Infinity, especially with using it as a simulation hub for multiplayer War Games. Playing as a Promethean would alienate the player's experience (no pun intended).
  20. A secret rank is actually a brilliant idea. if you're going to boast a level 50 (highest skillwise), you may as well play like a 50 or else you're a phony. If you tell your team your secret rank is a 30 and you play like a 30, then perfect.
  21. I LOVED equipment. Always made sure to go back to pick up a field regenerator when it spawned. I think they're being implemented into AA though.
  22. You're making mountains out of molehills now. Unless being overwhelmed by any major power weapons (rockets, sniper, sword, shotty), I feel as if a magnum vs. any medium-range primary weapons (DMR, AR, BR) is ordinary, and very common. Same amount of bullets to take out shields as a DMR/BR, but with a higher fire rate, albeit less ammo. I consider myself a very good halo player, but the analogy of an MLG player vs. a team of noobs was overkill (no pun intended). If my 3 teammates kill their 3 teammates and it's 1 on 1 to score a flag, the flagman should have the disadvantage of no firepower since he is contributing to the objective portion of the game; gambling with the slow, meandering trail of scoring and putting his team on the scoreboard. That's when he should drop the flag, defend his life, and wait for his team to respawn to help him. Like I said, I will absolutely love having both a flag and a handgun; I'm merely trying to consider possible drawbacks.
  23. I hope they have a cutscene of Elites vs. Knights. Like maybe five Elites trying to take down one Knight and eventually succeeding, but struggling while doing so.
  24. I have to disagree. In Reach, I can easily outshoot someone of normal/advanced skill DMR v. Magnum. In SWAT, I use my Magnum over my DMR. Also, a standard player will run at you while ARing, not noticing how many bullets are missing due to the reticule bloom. They're dead by my Magnum as well. I guess, to favor your side of the argument, it'll be fair as long as you can't zoom in with it.
