  1. The woman I thought was Linda is in fact Commander Palmer.

And to the above, Sierra1117 is correct, John-117 is not the only Spartan II left, along with Linda, Kelly and Fred still being alive, Jai, Douglas, Jerome, Victor, Adriana, Alice and Black Team are all still alived. Plus there are those that were discharged that still work for ONI. There were more Spartan II's than what many people think. The books do a much better job of explorign the different Spartan II's than the games do.

Oh wow, I didn't realise Fred was still alive.

  2. Here's how I see it:

    Knights - Elites - Spartans

    Crawlers - Grunts - Marines

    Watchers - Jackals

    Battlewagons - Hunters

So far those are the only prometheans that have been revealed.

On a side note, meeting/combating the forerunners is not possible, as they basically went all Kamakazie to kill off the flood. However, there is rumoured to be one surviving forerunner who runs the library on one of the rings.

Seems like you have a pretty good idea of what the equivalents are for A.I units. Cool comparison, I like how you did it for Humans, Covenant and Prometheans. Good job.

  3. And they have to be "head shots" if you hit the neck, or upper torso it doesn't count. And yeah I'm sorry but how about making a play list where it's called Anniversary in Reach and Anniversary Classic.

Make everyone happy? Oh whait....that's an impossible goal.

Sadly you're right, it's almost impossible to make everyone happy about a change to a game.

  4. I can kind of understand why a certain amount of players think this may be the ruination of Halo, but I think it's important to take a step back and reflect on the situation before judging. After doing so, I for one see that Halo: Reach got a lot of flak from Halo 3 fans for being too different. I must agree that there were a lot of changes, but I just went with the flow and ended up really enjoying myself. Now we are contemplating a company that isn't Bungie making a Halo game. However, as others have mentioned, 343 industries holds a lot of the Bungie-esque spirit to them, thanks to the presence of certain ex-Bungie employees. I am sad to see Bungie go, but I'm interested in seeing what 343 industries can do. Although I'm not thrilled about all the additions to Halo 4, I won't judge the game too harshly until I've gotten a chance to play. So... that's my opinion. Lol :)

  5. wow awsome

Lol, thanks dude. I'm glad you like it. And, as to eveyone else (including spartan4104) I will share all your kind comments with Xx10chickensXx so he can also see all the awesome things you guys have said about our map. Thanks again for your support!

  6. AI Pathfinding is a seperate set of tag data that is added to a scenario file thru the sandbox Ui known commonly as Sapien. basically this happens...

    1. Scenario file is loaded.

    2. Spawns are added to the map. (Crates, scenery, machines, etc)

    3. A pathfinding tool is then used to calculate where objects, scenery etc are in location to where bipdes are able to be spawned.

    4. The map is compiled into it's .map compressed format, along with every other item that requires compiling and compression.

Unfortunatly due to how the engine is layed out, as I had tried to explain, pathfinding data is a compressed set of spacial coordinates that tell the AI where and what is located on a level. Without this data, AI would just run around into walls, into objects etc...

Campaign maps have the AI Pathfinding already compiled and included into the map file, and cannot be edited as this would change more than just the scenario file or globals. Most players are not aware of this, but all of the Forge features we use are simply memory edits on sections of the scenario_structure file, globals.globals and globals.multilingual_global map files. While yes there ar eother edits that we do such as physics of an object or it's spawning time, but every other edit we are capable of doing is an edit that does not require a complete re-compiling of a map file.

Wow, thank you for such an informative post. I really didn't understand the possible issues with A.I but you've given us a ton of well-explained information.

  7. Wow, I am absolutely dumbfounded! Congratulations on this amazing find. I don't know if anyone else knows about this, so if you are the first to discover it, outstanding work! I love the map you've built. The structure looks very good and it seems like it would support some solid gameplay. If you are the original finder of this area, I would love to add you on my friends list so you could show me. Also, if you're looking into getting it game-tested, I will soon be testing one of my own maps on Ridgeline, so we could do them at the same time. If you're interested at all, give me a friend request over Xbox Live and we can talk some more. Anyways, other than that, I love your map. Great job! You get a like from me!

  8. "Chief Clones?" I thought those guys were ODST Soldiers or some upgraded Marines.

I agree that I thought those guys were ODSTs. If they aren't then they're probably the Spartan IVs that everyone else is mentionning, since I read somewhere that Chief will be meeting with them around half-way through the campaign, or something along those lines.

  9. Yeah. It's hard to tell whether they plan on bringing back this kind of combat-mini-games, but if they have a new version of Action Sack I would almost certainly imagine that Shotty-Snipes would be included.

  10. I have to admit, I'm very interested in what kind of direction the developers will go with putting Washington as a king. If done right, it can turn out to be a very intriguing plot element, but I truly hope it won't have anything to do with him wanting to take over the world. Though naturally it would depend on his reasons for doing so, whether they are reasonable or not.

I'm skeptical over how they'll execute it, but I do admit I'm excited. Can't wait.

I would have to agree with you once again Chewin3. BTW, nice new profile picture!

  11. Yeah, it's no problem at all. Anyways, welcome to the forums and I hope you enjoy your stay. I understand what you mean about the whole "glacial pace", so I might suggest checking out certain threads as they are always updated on the latest info for Halo 4, which might be able to sustain us until the game's release. Lol, have fun!

  12. Hey, welcome to the forum, I hope you enjoy your stay. If you're ever interested in reading about, or discussing your topics of interest that you've listed, be sure to check out the halo 4 section of the forum, as you'll be able to locate tons of topic threads discussing just about everything from Halo 4.

  13. Very cool theme. I like the structure of the map and you seem to have used a proper FX mix that compliments your environment very well. I must ask however, since the concept is that the Elites are infected, are you using a gametype which forces infected players to be Elites? I just ask out of curiousity. Anyways, other than that, the map seems rather well built and features what I think are some nice and original ideas. Keep up the good work!

  14. I'm tied between Halo 3 and Halo: Reach. They both offered what I thought were spectacular stories. Where Halo 3 put you in the seat of a hero fighting to preserve his planet and his species, Halo: Reach put you in control of a Spartan who knew he was fighting a losing battle. Both stories were rather different from each other, but were each executed so well that I can't find myself deciding which was better. I also really enjoyed both multiplayers as they yet again offered rather widely different gameplay experiences that I both enjoyed!

  15. When I was rather young I'd go to my neighbour's house and we would play Halo: CE together. It later launched me into further Halo gaming - along with a side-trip to the Star Wars: Battlefront series. These two were probably the pinnacle games that got me into Console gaming!

  16. A little let down that its going to be Chief-clones again, since I loved having the Arbiter in Halo 3 and our custom Spartans in Halo: Reach, but I understand it's necessity for story-line aspects. I guess its just like the original Halo games... and ODST... :)
