  1. I understand where you're coming from, the idea sounds like a double edged sword... The brighter side is if a few noobs decide to quit out early, or maybe by an odd chance someone lost connection, a team would be a man down from achieving their win. Now to me, less people on your team seems like you'll have more targets to kill than they will, but everyone knows the difficulty of a 5 vs 8 game...and that means if a friend or two of yours is waiting to join, they can provide backup and help save the day. The issue will probably be about the stuff you mentioned. Now, I personally can't find a downside to this per se, but that doesn't mean there isn't one.
  2. Thank you everyone for helping with this post. Please continue to add if anything comes up!
  3. So, there's a ton of info floating around in our heads, some of it is the same and some are probably known to a select few who do their homework. I was wanting to share some information about Matchmaking i found out about through news articles and interviews. These are credible, though at the moment I can't find the exact websites of origin. ---There will be a ranking and progression system similar to the Halo 3 style (Major Grade 2, Captain, etc.) along with the same style of emblems. --The experience gained from Spartan Ops and Matchmaking might vary in value, example: (total post-game earnings 8,000+ in one, 13,000 in the later), but will/should provide enough earnings to rank up effectively, much better progress than in Reach. --The skill progression IS 1-50, but the specifics upon it will try to prevent boosters, de-rankers, and the sort...I've heard the skill number is only visible to the player.* --Players can now join sessions in progress. --Spartan Points are awarded to the player as a spending currency, much like cR from Reach but simplified, the other details are obscure as of now but SP should be usable to buy armor permutations and customizations. Other details: The Mantis (Mech) has machine guns and rockets [4-5 fully loaded], one set per arm. Unless otherwise stated, from video analysis the rockets do not lock on and the guns have a cool-down time. Also from videos given out, it seems the Mantis can only be boarded from the back, but no evidence of hijacking is present yet since the player isn't exposing his body. EMP bursts can demobilize it. If anyone has additional information, please add to the list of things we may not know much about, or if you have more info regarding what I've posted, please edit or revise the above mentioned details, but please try and link the source of the footage/leaks so we can all get a general idea of what to expect, in any aspect of the game. Thanks! http://halo.wikia.com/wiki/Halo_4 http://manatank.com/2012/04/halo-4-multiplayer-detailed/ http://www.neoseeker.com/news/19774-halo-4-multiplayers-new-infinity-slayer-ordnance-drops-explained/
  4. Be happy the thing isn't 50ft high lol. I can't wait to get some friends and spawn several of them in Customs, that will be entertaining.
  5. Oh yeah, it can't just happen tomorrow, lol but within the next 3-4 years along with a newer console it might be closer to achieving.
  6. Just an idea for 343i and anyone who enjoys the idea of space warfare in Halo. I know many have discussed the topic, but here's my two cents on a possibility. Later down the road, let's say the developers come out with a massive sandbox map like Forge World, but is a pocket of space orbiting a planet, and may or may not contain a UNSC Frigate and/or Covenant ship of similar size. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Google In Amber Clad's ship size. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- These ships, along with appropriate hangar bays, control rooms, etc. can be customized and saved in Forge, with collected vehicles and supplies spawning in their own locations desired by the player. The ships are of relative size and may even have a few weapons of their own to combat incoming dropships like Pelicans and (space equipped) Falcons of the sort. The open space gives way to a breed of aerial combat, where as the inside of the ship adds to CQB and Objective based games, each a different playstyle. Whether 2 ships or 1, the map itself gives great ideas for all types of players and plenty of potential to the Halo multiplayer experience. Ground vehicles like Warthogs and Ghosts could be on a small moon just a short distance from the spaceships, or the map could be completely tailored to have 8+ Banshees and other flying vehicles specifically for boarding parties, dogfights, and CTF games. Either way, the large portion of the new map would revolve around the idea of space. Clans could customize pieces of the ship's hull and interior, bringing clan battles and machinima to new places. computer terminals, ODST drop-pods, and maneuverable turrets controlled from inside the ship would add to the feel of it, and others could design decals for ship exterior emblems, as well as ship names. Ships could also be placed around like regular Forge pieces, so broadside-to-broadside fighting could occur. Many things could be put into the map, like asteroids and floating debris to make the sense of battle more realistic, as well as the usual pieces of Forge. Gravity would be valid only inside the ship, unless specifically turned off and on elsewhere. Due to the size of such a map, certain areas of detail and bandwidth strengths would have to be tried and tested, and possibly sacrificed, so a large open area such as this might not have the pretty flora and excellent lighting of other maps, but it could still be achieved with appropriate tweaking. I'm sure such a map would be possible, just think of the Reach Mission: Long Night of Solace, but without anything in the playable "bubble". If anyone has ideas, comments,or criticism, please comment and tell me what you think. Again, I know this topic has arisen many times among many forums, but I wanted to try and get a more firm idea of the scenario and let it seem just a little more possible. Thanks.
  7. Patches....there's always patches... What if players earned more by killing/winning against players better than they are, like a lvl 42 against a 48 and so forth? That would give aspiring players something to look forward to while moving up in rank/exp.
  8. I am more focused on the gameplay of the rifle, I'm not worried in the least about the aesthetics and name. (DMR is also derived from modern-day firearms) Although to make everyone happy, The magazine could have been changed slightly over 500 years, and maybe even a 1.5-2.0 x zoom scope would be nice too, just to clarify with looks. The name could have been slightly more under wraps, say if they based it off the M60 LMG, they might of lowered the rate of fire and added bullet damage in a few spots, and called it "The Pig", because that's the M60's nickname... But again, I'm just happy to use an LMG...no real complaints here.
  9. I remember being around 5-7 years old, playing Romance of the Three Kingdoms: Wall of Fire, which was a strategy and mild-rpg game. Very nice capabilities for a SNES game. Then came FF7, but I don't need to ramble on about that... The same time I received an Xbox, I also got Halo CE and Knights of the Old Republic, then the blooming of experience and influence began. Though I had many LAN parties for Halo 1 and 2, my first XboxLive experience came with Halo 3, with much excitement. I even checked out of school so I could pick up the copy early and start playing. With the disc in possession, I called up my best friend (who also had the best internet connection) and we stayed awake day and night playing Matchmaking like it was the only thing in existence. One little thing about 3 was that another friend of mine's mother worked at a movie rental store, and most of the new shipments arrive just a few days earlier. I still remember the quote... "Here it is, as long as its back on the shelf come Monday we can play it." -Yes, we played the game before the release.
  10. Just switched over from Bungie's forum, obviously for the upcoming game. I needed to follow the game's community forums, and I figured things might be a bit more level headed here... I'm looking forward to it 100%, since I've been a Halo veteran since 2 and 3, although keeping every bit of content and "leaks" in quiet debate. No need to argue, or rage, I believe we all need to do before the launch is to not "count our chickens before they hatch". My favorite pieces of Halo 4 thus far are the Mantis, Saw Rifle, Storm Rifle, characteristics of armor abilities, and of course, Forge. I'll be looking forward to the clans, stats, and discussions on the website, especially at/after release. Thanks, Epyon Pilot.
