Good stuff man. I've never heard of octagon. I'll add your GT and post a couple of games tonight. I'm stationed in Kansas so yeah after I get out of the motor pool tonight I'll hop on and see what I can post. Didn't know about the looking down. I know maps well enough to give this a solid try. Also I'd heard of the first few shots registering the same. Maybe that's why it always seems like I drop their shields quickly but can never seem to land the final headshot. That actually clarifies that completely. I thought maybe it was a rumor but that actually sounds more like what's going on. My gamer tag is Baeztoberfest if any of y'all would like me to upload some games so you can critique and see what the deficiencies are.

Dexterity to give me the edge for engaging multiple targets when I need to reload. Four shots will kill an opponent with headshots. Realistically I spend 5 to 7 rounds per guy. So when taking down 2 or more guys I need that quick reload. The hologram is for evasion mostly to take the heat off me when I'm going for cover. They usually chase me and engage the hologram while I'm safe behind the corner. The boltshot is used primarily for smaller maps for the charge shot. The one hit kill within melee range is pretty stout and works a little better than say the pistol or plasma variant. The plasma pistol would be a good choice for its charge and melee combo but the charges go too quickly for me and the extra step to melee just seems like to much versus just pointing and clicking. That was my rationale. Yesterday I switched to active camo because I was thinking even if I'm walking instead of camping puts a minor camo on me making me that much harder to see in combat and is also useful for retreating to a degree. I substituted the dexterity for the extra grenade range and damage perk. But I'm still in the air about those choices... So that was my thinking. Hopefully that will help shed some light on the problem. Also I don't know what Ghandi hopping is. Is that jumping around all willy nilly? I'll admit I've played against those guys and its annoyingly affective. But honestly that won't help me. It's just to confusing to me to acquire targets and maintain sight picture. I use the tactic of reticle to the corners. Works well for me especially in swat. It's a lot quicker than just running blind and unprepared. I don't mean to come off like any of y'all's advice is exactly wrong because obviously it's not working for me or I'm doing it wrong I suppose. How I don't know but I must be. That's the confusion. If it was as simple as practice I should be improving as I play (and lose) all the time. But it's like I'm progressively getting WORSE instead. Oh I didn't address the DMR. That works easier for me to just score headshots than spray and pray with the AR. It's about the same skill level with it at close, medium, and long range. Medium range is probably where I use it best. I don't blame Halo 4 for my issues because its a program essentially. The only changing variant is myself and human error. I'll have my good days and bad days but it seems skewed? One match I go 25 and 14 (I consider that a good match) and other times I'll go 7 and 19. It fluctuates drastically but the latter is more the case the the 25 and 14. I don't expect to win every gunfight. I just need an edge or a tip or some advice or something because what I'm doing now isn't working.

I'm never alive long enough to exhaust all my ammo. :/ Hard light shield could work? I have yet to try it. And yeah I do my best to watch my radar. It's the long distance that gets me. Or being double teamed.

I really don't want to make another rant thread. That's been done to death. I know Halo 4 is a good game so I won't bad mouth it. So that being said here's my problem. I try so damn hard at being GOOD at the game and no matter what I do I'm getting waxed at every turn. I've tried different loadouts, play styles, and played with people of different skill levels. My K/D is 1.08. That's the crappiest at out of any Halo title I've ever owned. I'm not going to say I'm the **** at every Halo game because I'm not. Halo 3 I was a legit 50. Halo reach my K/D ratio was 1.23. Now with Halo 4 it's like I'm complete crap. And it's only going downhill... I don't THINK I have a problem aiming as I feel like I'm scoring good headshots everytime but I'm not. I mean how could I if they massacre me with lesser rounds or they are more powerful or I just don't know... I'm so freaking fed up with it... I always seem to have the weaker weapon at every dual. I have a boltshot and they have a scattershot. I have a sniper rifle and they have a binary rifle. I have a DMR and they have a BR. I have an AR and they have a saw... Maybe that's just bad luck or something... Look I'll stop bitching and whining. I think my target acquisition is fine. My Loadout for 4v4 is as follows. Primary DMR Secondary boltshot AA hologram Bonus dexterity Grenade plasma Specialization mobility That's a pretty all around Loadout I think. And for big team I just substitute the boltshot with the plasma pistol and hologram with jet pack... I'm a cqc kind of guy. I really excel with shotguns and melees and swords. But I'm also pretty good with the DMR as aiming has never been an issue. (Before) I thought it was so I switched to an AR, but did even worse. DMR is my best bet so far. That being said SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME WHAT IM DOING WRONG so I can enjoy this title and not be so pissed. Seriously. Go ahead and get your laughs in but it pisses me off so badly. It irritates me to where I want to throw things and punch stuff. Nothing has irritated me so bad in my life... And I'm a 24 year old husband and father... BUT! I'm helplessly addicted because I'm praying I'll be better tomorrow. Any tips would be GREATLY appreciated. That's all I want... Help.

For infinity slayer : Primary - DMR (good for close, medium, and long range general combat) Secondary - boltshot (used in cqc maps such as adrift and certain hotspots in haven; two popular Infinity slayer maps. Also good used to have a quick takedown when used with radar properly) Grenade - plasma (I can always get a sticky off to tag an oponent or damaged vehicle in case of impending death, guarantees me at least 1 kill) AA - hologram (when used in conjunction with the boltshot and evading enemy fire the enemy ALWAYS tries to assassinate the blundering clone with no luck. This sets you up for a boltshot kill, a stick, or given proper conditions an assassination yourself. Best used to crouch to disappear from radar after you send out the hologram to not give away that there's not more of you on enemy radar. Bonus ability - dexterity (those split seconds give you the advantage when engaging multiple enemies. Special - mobility (provides map dominance especially in the beginning of each match. Excellent for hunting down ordinance to replace the boltshot with like the scattershot or the sword [perfect accent to the dmr] but also acceptable would be the saw or needler depending on play style) Big team infinity slayer Same as before but substitute these minor changes Secondary - plasma pistol (the charges go quick but the payoff when facing banshees, mantis's, scorpions, or any other heavyweight on the field renders them is impeccable. AA - replace hologram with jet pack. Not as important to send out diversions when you have 8 players on your team. Gaining battlefield dominance and being more menueverable is better. Especially when making use of any of the various sniper rifles.

Am I the only one who thinks the campaign was pure ****?
Baeztoberfest replied to moo10032's topic in Halo 4
I loved the campaign. Best part about Halo 4 because they took it where bungie never went before. I.E. Cortana... Delving into who John really is... The forerunners? Yeah. Awesome stuff. -
A little off subject but I'll shoot. Wasn't noble team all commissioned? O1 or higher?

Halo 4 Legendary Ending is an Insult Rather Than a Reward
Baeztoberfest replied to TunnelRat's topic in Halo 4
I wanted to see his black snake moan... Beat the game solo and see MC mono E mono with his flood stick. -
I hope they don't deviate and make another cover game. Master chief stomped them good already in three games. Enough covenant. This is a new trilogy and its just established a new threat. Revisiting old enemies would just be redundant and illogical. Especially since they knew they'd make a trilogy and already have the storyline plotted I'm sure for the next two games.

Damn dude... Solo legendary with no credit is like running a marathon butt naked backwards through a corn field just to cross the finish line and recieve your prize. I slug straight to the gut. Lol. Sorry for your pain man... My heart goes out to ya.

Halo 4 Legendary Ending is an Insult Rather Than a Reward

I didn't say you were a member for three weeks. I said there was a difference of three weeks between the game and the book. I wasn't arguing with you. -
What do you mean more time on the ground? I don't understand. He's the commander. General Patraes (probably misspelled it) wasn't a ground fighter. He's a commander. Why would he do that? And to what means?

Been playing for 11 years sir. Also I'm a specialist in the army. So... Nope. Point avoided. As per the stuff about Rio. When we would convoy to nearby FOB's, our XO would usually TC at least one of the gun trucks. Not protocol for all convoys but depending on unit it can change so yes. I agree. As whether his command was that not befitting of combat command? What you're trying to say I think was that Rio issued improper commands. And that it wasn't wrong to disobey them. I'd have to watch his outburst again but that's not really uncommon either. To get screamed at by a CO. I would look at his decision making not from the obvious point that he's a jerk. But that he is a good commander. No matter how valuable the information on an SKL or computer or anything else? The ONLY reason I'd bring it with me (if damaged) is for decommission. That's it. Cortana lost her ability to be a viable combat asset when he went of her rocker. Rio saw that and wanted her taken off the chess board. Now ultimately we know that she played her part in the end. That was a stroke of luck that I don't think anyone saw coming. The chief really DOES have luck. If Rios commands were followed it might have been worse. So far in this thread I've defended his command and right to command, his motives for making those decisions, he reasons for escaping requiem, and one similarity between himself and another UNSC captain from Halo CE. I believe while being a jerk (never claimed to LIKE the guy) he was in fact a good commander and a skilled leader. Even his comment to the chief about living to fight another day was correct. Harsh... But he was right for saying it.

Comparing Audie Murphy to the Chief. No collection of accolades or accomplishments will make a uniformed service member above the law. Audie Murphy had paranoid dementia and counts of fantasizing about child molestation. His case was also one of the first documented cases of PTSD to surface on military records and acknowledged in recent years. But he is the most decorated US veteran in World War II and (although presumptuous for me to say this) might be the highest decorated US veteran of any war. Fast forward to MC. I'm assuming you all are fans of the game so I won't even go into the reasons he's a total badass. But just like Audie, John and his cavalier attitude toward authority aren't becoming of a spartan or a marine. Past, present, or future. In regards to Cortana. I've felt attachment to her. But my feelings and personal judgements can't cloud oneself from the truth. She is merely AI. Artificial intelligence and therefore could only be human on an imaginary spectrum. The minute they learned of her rampancy she should have been decommissioned. Rio had full awareness of his flagship and what needed to be done to protect her. Captain Keyes within the first 15 minutes did the same thing with the Pillar Of Autumn but nobody chastises him! The truth is Rio is a good commander. Comparatively speaking he's on par with the best. Just because he reacts harshly toward our hero doesn't mean he's unjustified. Some heroes need a wake up call. Think if John had left with Rio... They might have saved Cortana. But Johns blind allegiance to accomplishing the mission put himself and plenty at risk to the forerunners and earth. It's pretty obvious that the UNSC has the muscle and the firepower. From an ordinance standpoint I can see what Rio was doing. Retreat, reassess, and regroup. Then tactically take out the threat. I believe he also has a conversation that loosely went : John : lets go get em cap'n! Andrew : no way John : they are weak c'mon cap'n! Andrew : so are we... I mean that's pretty straight forward script writing. How can nobody agree that Rio was an OUTSTANDING commander? Mutiny isn't a very viable option. Especially in times of war. Don't know what the penalty after 2552 was but I know what it is now... Chief took a huge gamble on that one. Openly defying a senior commander in front of the crew... Oh an to address the mammoth thing before I read more replies... I will agree that was a tad brash. But so was Lasky for putting boots on ground. His presence wasn't required.

I spent some time thinking about this... If he was gone for four years they would have a new master chief by then. Especially if they had him as MIA. I know in the Army an MTOW is done to trade out new soldiers and whatnot when the slots need to be filled. MC's spot was definitely filled. If he was rescued his new orders would be to fall in under the command of his rescuers. Not to keep acting as if he is MIA. He radios several times in the mission INFINTY identifying himself as Siera 117 of the forward unto dawn and offers to help and says he's on station. But this was just to address your post. Back on subject. Captain Del Rio was the rankingest officer on board the Infinity. All orders and directives would come from him no matter what. Whatever Lord Hood would have done is inconsequential. It is irrelevant and doesn't pertain to the here and now. I mean that by this. Technically a lieutenant outranks a 1sg. The lieutenant could chew the 1sg and make him do push-ups. The 1sg would most likely let the CO know and the CO would handle the lieutenant. Because the 1sg and CO are really in charge of things. (But that doesn't mean that the 1sg outweighs the lieutenant). I told you that little story to explain the chain of command. Rio was in charge and still ranking. No matter what. Chief still had an obligation to follow orders. Because THAT is the chain of command. In regards to that I don't think he "overreacted" by looking out for the Infinitys crew and personel. A loss of that caliber would be a career/life ender. Getting the MC to not be doing all that Lone Wolf crap would be acceptable under those conditions.

I do this and still always manage to end up with 5 at the end. Don't know where that last one ends up. I use the rail gun to one shot knights in one hit and one shot crawlers with the DMR. Watchers are annoying because they either run or consume too much ammo/time. Same thing for those laser cannons. The hold out at the doors isn't hard. Neither is saving the first two marines until you reach the other four. It's that push up that hill that is the tough/annoying part. Co-op is decidedly easier as you can throw wave after wave of spartan at the enemy getting their attention and taking heat off the marines at a minimum. Now some tips that I find work for me to ad to the forum instead of being a pretentious jerk and simply saying ITS EASY. Clearly it's not for everyone. AR rush the first two Promethean Knights after using the DMR to headshot the first four crawlers and sentry turret. (If there is one). After the first knight is dead after unloading a full clip into his alien hide and giving him a good butt stroke reload for the next one and the watcher. Kill the watcher first and throw grenades to distract the knight (but avoid getting in the watchers way). After the watcher and the knight keep sprinting up the hill with the DMR and kill about three or four crawlers before the next knight appears. Press the attack and melee and AR the knight while using the AR to kill the remaining crawlers. Always keep weapons reloaded and stay out in front to attract the gunfire. When you're making your way to the next group of four marines (6 total) DMR the watcher and any crawlers and that should exhaust the rest of your DMR ammo. Grab the rail gun at the sandbag and keep using your AR for crawlers watchers and maybe the turrets. (Up to you) Rail gun the knights. On heroic it'll one shot knights. Just be aware of your surroundings and the concussion from the rail gun if near marines will kill them. Restart from last checkpoint often if you notice someone from your group isn't around. That's what's worked for me so far and alot of trial and error. That's solo though I'm sure it's easier to do I co-op. And clearly I haven't succeeded yet so my advice may need some tweaking. Hope this helped.

Halo 4 Legendary Ending is an Insult Rather Than a Reward
Baeztoberfest replied to TunnelRat's topic in Halo 4
I suppose it'd be... But in all fairness honestly I don't care what race he is. But the likelihood some Asian kid playing in Korea pictures S117 as anything but whatever race he is is unlikely at best. It isn't racism. It's immersing yourself into a game the way the player would like. Maybe I worded the original improperly but that's what I was getting at. Game immersion. And if you read the book in October and can clearly remember a decade ago you're a better man than me. Clearly I should just stop thinking for myself and listen to you. Where I CAME FROM, Halo CE was an original Xbox launch title and me and my brother smashed on that months before I ever even heard of the books. But clearly you can read something someone posted online and accept it. According to that logic did you know Jesus invented the helicopter? Wikipedia told me so... I mean you're arguing over 3 weeks guy... Are you really that eager to be omniscient on a gaming forum? Lol. That's what I think is so sad... That is my point in a nutshell. -
Only reason I agree 100% with this is because they removed the yoink medal. I think if it took any longer to assassinate people the person being assassinated would have time to call next of kin and say their goodbyes. It does take too long... (That's why there's wetworks because they intentionally made it take too long, useless perk, useless class) and they took down the best thing assassinations had. Yoink... It was so gratifying to hear that in Halo Reach... Now I don't even attempt assassinations anymore. Period. Ever. Because its just lame when the other three guys on your team convulge on you forgetting about the other enemies just to steal your kill. I don't mind being yoinked. I mind **itty teammates who don't know how to play halo and are in all likelihood virgins and obese and have zero friends. That's just my sophisticated hypothesis though.

Halo 4 Legendary Ending is an Insult Rather Than a Reward
Baeztoberfest replied to TunnelRat's topic in Halo 4
Personally I've never felt so attached to the chief. I've never been able to feel that he's just human after all. Games came before books so all the bookworms can cram it. (Kinda harsh I know). Don't buy a censor on MY opinion when the thing I'm defending came before your books that were written as an after idea. That'd be like someone picking up S.D. Perry and then getting pissed off when Jill Valentine isn't a C cup in the game. Pfft... Or even better that there's no triad zombies in any Resident Evil ever. If it wasn't in the game all it is is extra. It isn't the end all be all to the chiefs ugly mug. Whether you wanna see it or not the MAN HAS A FACE. You could see his eyes through his face shield in Halo 3 so 343i didn't reveal anything really. So with no legs to stand on or no validity to personal opinion why get so worked up over seeing his face? I wanna feel like he's mortal. Like he can actually FEEL something. (Without reading a novel BASED on a game). And although this last point is a little off topic I liked how the terminals you unlock reveal a little more storyline. The Halo 4 campaign did a decent job explaining the Didact and the Librarian and their role. At first I was confused at who he was and what he was upset about but it all tied together nicely. And even the repitition of spartan ops is outweighed by its ability to show even more storyline. But back on subject. The chief was awe inspiring. And I'm in full support of whatever zany direction 343 takes it up to and including a full face reveal. Because they are doing something new and innovative. If I wanted to play the same crap I wouldn't have bought Halo 4. Way to tie it all together 343. -
I'm thankful for my one year old and only child and son Oliver. He's a little animal but God bless that little boy! All the times he breaks my headsets or turns on my Xbox (mid game in a match oh Halo) and turns around with that devilish one year old troll face... "You mad bro!?". Lol. He's the apple of my eye and my reason for living. In thankful for my son whom I love with all my heart. Off* I mean. Lol.

Interesting that the developers clearly made that big of a difference between the II's, III's, and IV's. I doubt their lack of discipline means they are any less skilled. Look at World War II vets... Most of them had more discipline and would crap all over today's military... Which isn't to say that today's modern warrior is any less deadly... Just saying it was a different time and different times called for different heroes. If it sounds like I'm contradicting myself I apologize I'm trying to find the right words for it. Okay. Here it is. I'm a specialist in the US Army. I've been to Afghanistan. I'd like to think I'm a tough guy. My uncle is a retired 1sg. He was also an infantrymen for multiple tours in Vietnam. Next to him I am humbled and don't have much to say... The things I've seen and went through I will never forget. But my forefathers legends will live on in ways I can't begin to describe or understand. I am humbled. So to tie this all back in to the OP. perhaps 343 had that mentality when unveiling the spartan IV's? That they are the new breed and without enduring a lifelong way of battle still find humor in things? Reacting the way majestic team did? The chief has never reacted that way. They even mention that in his character bio questionnaire interrogation thingy with dr Halsey in the prologue... I think that someone at 343 might just understand the military... Lol. At the the comradery and am ever evolving fighting force.
