I agree with all of this. I thought spartan ops would be more than rehashed campaign. Especially from episode 1 to revisit the same places in episode 2 is kinda weak. I'd have rather played firefight or something. Oh! But on a positive note they did get being able to choose your playlist right. Instead of having to vote between oddball king of the hill or capture the flag.

Halo 4 is the biggest disapointment to ever grace the Xbox 360.
Baeztoberfest replied to Baeztoberfest's topic in Halo 4
I'm definitely more level headed than I was yesterday but I'm still sticking to my guns. First and foremost I'll be the first to agree that I do in fact somehow suck at Halo 4. Maybe my skills are aging and I used to be better. The series did start out 10 years ago. But now I'll throw out some arguing points and facts that I think might help validate my rant. All Halo's before Halo 4 had slower combat. And by that, I mean they didn't have the explosive action gameplay that 4 has. That being said the ability to be methodical on a close quarters combat basis seem moot to me. It was easier to be an in your face player on Halo Reach because not everyone had sprint. You could even go into armor lock if you wanted. (All judgement aside) so the abilities really accented your play style. It was easy to be that one man army. With a quickened combat dialogue you are forces to engage in far more hostile matches and much faster lethal situations you just didn't find yourself in in previous games. I am debating on wether my skill and target acquisition has deminished, or if its just the fact a new developer took the game mechanics into a whole new direction, unfamiliar to anyone at this point. I'll agree with the arguing point that adaptation is required to prove yourself. But the long end of it is if you aren't good today, you probably won't wake up good tomorrow. Let me take it a step further and ask anyone of the numerous commentators who simply say "adapt" to explain yourselves. What does that even mean? Get used to it? To dying repeatedly with flawed game mechanics? Flawed is a relative term used in my opinion of being forces to use the DMR primarily to succeed in combat. That's not adaptation. That's reconciling that all other weapons (excluding power weapons) are inferior and developers wouldn't give a fighting chance to players who play differently. In regards to spartan ops, I was referring to future installments being something you have to pay for. Of course now it's free but everything I've read online (rumor mill) it will eventually cost money to continue the story. The campaign was excellent. I won't go into details about the ending but I'm so glad they took the series where it seemed bungie was afraid to go after all those years. My only complaint was the cinematic play through. I'll use the elevator as an example or even the end scene with Didact. They spent a decade convincing me John was a legendary super soldier unsurpassed in skill by anyone ever and now through me using either a grenade or jumping in an elevator I'm supposed to believe it? I likened the whole experience to when you fought off General Shepard at the end of MW2. Certainly they are moving in that direction and that's not what I'm familiar with. Once again that's just preference but what is fact is game dynamics have changes CONSIDERABLY. Spartan ops and campaign will not rank you up. To advance further and unlock cool stuff (same as CoD) you have to engage in multiplayer which apparently I'm too NOOBY, or too UNSKILLED to enjoy. Is that my fault? Or is that the fault of developers for making something I'm not good at? I say that because it is in fact a new developing team doing something that hasn't been done before. Halo 4 is its own entity unlike any other that share the franchise name. That being said it is accountable for only it's precedings and how well it's player base can "adapt". I'm still by sure what that means... I'm not trolling, I'm merely pointing out differences in the game that has evolved into a whole new genre. And how it has affected veteran Halo players alike. I honestly don't care if I'm the best. But unless someone can point out what exactly adapting constitutes as and how it can be implemented? I won't consider that an option because basically what you're saying is "deal with the fact you suck". And that's not something I'm comfortable spending $60 on. These are my reasons (albeit opinionated) as to why these major differences have blemishes an otherwise perfect franchise. And I'd like to edit you CAN rank up through spartan ops I was referring to an offline experience. -

That was immature and uncalled for. I'll be back to talk it out MATURELY tomorrow but for now I think I should cool off and sleep. My brain hurts and I keep thinking of immaterial arguing points. But I will address this comment as a personal attack on me for having an opinion you don't agree with and that's extremely inappropriate. Thanks for making it obvious to everyone. -
I agree with OP.It would've been a good game if they kept it Halo. I don't want to play CoD. I want to play the Halo. If I've been playing Halo for ten years why should I have to adapt to anything? If you're privy to some master matchmaking secret share with the rest of us but don't hat his opinions. Especially when people agree with him. The weapons are way out of balance and the maps are garbage. You're telling me in 5 Halo games previous to this, Valhalla is the best map to make a remake? No. I see their reasoning but just... No. Give me Chill Out or Lockout. Give me Rat Race or Battle Canyon. Give me Ascension or ANYTHING besides this new crap. And the perks are very useless. I don't know which one to pick because them and the armor abilities are equally as worthless. So forgive the OP and myself for not wanting to "adapt to game mechanics", I'm just mad that these new game mechanics are the same as every other FPS on the market now and the things that made Halo fun are dead and gone. It's not about perks, or abilities... It's about how best to implement them into a game without taking away from the escence of an entire franchise. Don't even stand there and tell me that Halo 4 is like ANY OTHER HALO GAME OUT THERE. It's cool they went in a different direction and tried new things. But what they tried sucks. Bad. And I hope they fix it all too. Or I won't be wasting money on wannabe PC games.

You know what I liked about reach? You could play however YOU wanted to play. Any armor you chose like AL, JP, or AC was just something to accent your skill. Halo 4 doesn't do that. They force you to play like a complete tool and choose a DMR/BR and the forerunner pistol to achieve anything. You can't rely on mobility. Vehicles are WAY to bulky and easy to shoot down. (Minus the ghost). The mantis can't aim worth a crap and its rockets take too long to charge. Team slayer isn't much better playing the same craptastic maps over and over and over again with no hope of victory because of you're not starting out on a losing team you get stuck with a losing team. It's ENTIRELY to easy to get an assist for all your hard work. How do you get an assist with a grenade? Poor game mechanics that's how. I can shoot these dudes in the head 5 or 6 times and NOTHING. They have time (according to their kill cam) to switch to an AR and kill me from long range. I'm calling BULL on that. If I'm not on a team with a bunch of selfish kill stealing ******** I'm completely outmanned and outgunned because I'm trying to play the game how I want to not because some developers are stupid and say their favorite guns have to be the best.... GTFO of here... Spartan ops is rumored to have to pay for it!? You're gonna make me pay for a bunch of recycled campaign maps? You must think I'm either rich or a dumbass. It's not even that great. Just because you throw a million enemies at me at once doesn't make anything about replaying the same crap "epic". The only thing worth while is the campaign. Gears of war 3 was the same thing. Damn good campaign but after people got the shotgun roll down forget playing anything "competitive". I'm only using that as a comparison to the level of crap that is Halo 4. War games is seriously the most flawed game mode to ever be played in my house. I'm selling it tomorrow. I sincerely wished I hadn't traded in so many of my games for this crap. If its not the lag that kills me it's the same stupid guys with the same WAY overpowered super weapons... Every one of the armor abilities blows. I can't see these guys on my TV when they have AC on but somehow they can run COMPLETELY from one end of the map to where I'm at and kill me. I watched the damn kill cam. There's no way he could've known I was there unless he saw through my camo. And yet everyone else is so invisible. I know my hand eye coordination isn't bad. I was a 50 in Halo 3 and I had a 1.23 K/D in Halo Reach with over 33,000 kills. That's pretty standard. Halo 4 I have a 1.1 K/D ratio and bluntly I even think THAT is BS. I get killed 20 times a map usually. It's like everyone forgets there's THREE other Spartans on the battlefield. Now I'm not asking to be the best. I know I'm far from it. I'm asking for a fighting chance the way I WOULD LIKE TO DO IT. Not be forces to play like some cookie cutter gamer to stand a chance because I have to use some crappy gun that to be honest sounds like nails on a chalk board to me. Of course this is just my humble opinion. I'll probably dupe myself into thinking its an okay game and try again tomorrow and end up rage quitting because I rediscover how stupid this game really is. So pissed off that I looked forward to this game coming out for years and to me it's the biggest letdown I've ever played. At least the story was good... Sad to say that's all it had going for it though...

I only have wet works and one other available at level 50. I'm also level 38 so I'll find out soon enough. But I have no idea what any of them do or what they are besides some neat armor everyone will have anyway.

This is my rant... There are many like it... But this one is mine.
Baeztoberfest replied to Baeztoberfest's topic in Halo 4
I guess what I'm saying is that it just seems more prevelant in this game for some reason. Just my opinion. -
What is the deal with matchmaking? Multiplayer has to be the most selfish stupid handful of kids I've ever played for. It's still a race for power weapons no matter what game type you play... Nobody wants to drive the warthog. Just gun for them... Teammates will overlook your demise just to swoop in for the points... I swear the community is the most greedy selfish pricks I ever played any game with. 27 assists in one game is impossible to do even if you're trying. So how did I accomplish this feat almost four times within an hour? I do my best but my best isn't good enough when every team I'm with sucks so badly at being a "team". And what's up with the guy who uses mobility I snap up the banshee and mantis and hangs out in the back THE WHOLE GAME!? If you weren't going to do anything with it, WHY MAKE SURE NOBODY ELSE WILL USE IT? Does it make you feel safe or like a man? I swear the teamwork aspect of this game sucks so damn badly... I do t remember it being so bad before... I don't really know what I'm getting at... Just saying people are selfish ********. And I'm sick of that mantis guy...

What's your perfect Loadout and why? Figure I'd do some field research with what I know and public opinion. Your thoughts?

Is there an ideal blank canvas to use in Halo 4? Or how does that work? I attempted to mess around with it with my LIMITED forge skill and sucked beyond belief. I couldn't even find the basic building blocks to build structures! Any advice on how to build something would help. Turning toward the 343i community is just preference to looking it up online. In case you were wondering.

Are there spartan I's?

I looked I couldn't find em.

So I have read all the terminals in Halo Anniversary. But they are locked in the waypoint? I have no idea how to unlock them. Codes perhaps? Everything I read online said to use the glyphs for the terminals I found. But I sure as hell didn't write those down being as I beat Halo Anniversary months before Halo 4 came out. Does anyone know what to do?

So the Promethean Intoduction From E3 Never Happened?
Baeztoberfest replied to Blackstar Halo's topic in Halo 4
It would appear so. -
Wow. You're ridiculous. And now I'm going to tell you why. 1. You're the most badass killing machine in the whole galaxy and that's what you focus on? 2. It's called building suspense. Most good stories don't start out at the climax. Sorry it was so frustrating. 3. There would be plenty more gameplay if you could do it yourself. 4. To add to that its called immersing yourself in a game to really get the storyline. 5. To add to THAT, it was in fact... A game. GASP*!!! 6. Your rant has nothing to do with either Halo or anything in the game besides some vague details you and your buddy OBVIOUSLY had a tough time getting through. 7. Stop trolling you're embarassing yourself.

That answered every question I had. Lol. Thanks! I miss the old days where it was as simple as chief walks in that general direction and everything dies. Muhahahahahahaha!

You all sound so pretentious. Sorry we can't all be Godly at Halo 4 like you. I'll do my part and play campaign for the rest of my life for bringing YOU down. Sorry for ruining your experience. Pfft... You have got to be kidding me... You join a game and the losing team wins? Your teammates suck every match and you're always the best? I highly doubt that. Get off your high horse and just play the game. That's your one and only duty as a consumer. If you don't like it don't play it. If your team sucks that bad and you're truly that amazing every time you pick up the sticks maybe you should STFU and play ragecide. That way I won't have to read the crap pouring from your mouth about how good you or or how little I actually care. I'm not upset. Just bored we have yet ANOTHER thread about how this game is CoD and you're apparently master chief and hate all your teammates. Get real...

Okay but that still doesn't answer my question. As a matter of fact it only raises more. Why is Didact so pissed at the human race? I mean yeah the forerunners are mad because we wiped their planet out. But why is he personally mad? Why did the librarian help master chief? What are her motivations? What happened to lord hood? And for that matter what happened to del rio? I'm on the last mission and they mention it but I was too busy dodging everything and its mother to make it to the end. (I'm intentionally trying to be vague to not ruin it for anyone) So... Can anyone answer this? And how is Didact and the librarian the last forerunners in existence? It didn't clarify one way or the other but that's just my guess. Because if they are the last remaining race they are split. Half hate me and half love me or unknown reasons... I don't read the books I only smash the games on legendary and watch the shows. So... I'm glad they developed these characters from the book so I know what's going at least. Sort of.
-
Can anyone explain to me why the Didact hates humans and why the covenant work for him now? And can anyone tell me why the librarian helped the chief? (Other than the fact he's the chief) Also note that I'm only on mission 6 on legendary so far. I haven't beaten it yet. That being said I get that he hates me because I'm the chief (big surprise... Have him some earl grey Tea in another lifetime if you catch my drift) and he is still mad at a human forerunner war? First of all, what human forerunner war? I thought the forerunners were good and we were descendants of the forerunners. Didn't they design the halo rings to wipe out the flood? And when he didn't do it he was executed? (His escence was placed with someone else somehow before he died so he didn't REALLY die...) I gathered that the librarian is on the home team and wants me to stop Didact. (Her motivations are unclear at this point in the campaign) and this dude is EXTREMELY upset at the human race for unknown reasons. Seriously can ANYONE explain any of this to me? Don't get me wrong. Visually the game is stunning and the campaign has a lot of depth and I like that. And maybe I'm just plain dumb. But I wanna know what's going on... I'm so confused. I just want to know what's happening. And captain del rio is a total staff captain. I hope he takes a high dive off the infinity. I mean I'm thinking that it being only FOUR years everyone would be familiar with master chief stopping two alien races from exterminating all sentient life in the galaxy. Guess he didn't get that memo so he's okay being such a ******. And what happened to that admiral at the end of halo 3? And Miranda Keyes? Not that I was heavily invested in either of their survival I just wanted to know if lose ends were addressed. Okay just found out (rather reminded) that Miranda was killed in 3. And it doesn't mention what happened to lord hood. And after watching the terminals I get that the forerunners were upset that we "cleansed" their planet because the flood were there.

So you take the biggest name in gaming history...
Baeztoberfest replied to LeftNiNJA's topic in Halo 4
I thought it was just me! I would get killed with some outrageous bull only chuck Norris can pull off and then I actually WANT to see the kill cam to see how he pulled that off and it looks even more unrealistic than what I was already thinking! Not mad enough to rage quit but it gets my blood pressure going that's for sure... I'm gonna have a stroke one day because of war games I'm calling it now. -
So I had a few questions about matchmaking. I used to be good at halo 3 and halo reach and understandably it's a completely different game but my K/D is barely 1.05. What am I doing wrong? And by that I mean can some of the seasoned players shed some light on how to be a better player? Also forerunner weapons. Can anyone explain their pros and cons? I know human weapons are crap for shields but excellent for health damage. And visa versa for covenant weapons. How do forerunner weapons for into that equation? Thanks. Any tips are worth it to myself or any new player wanting to learn. Thanks for your time and patience and I hope this leads to better matches in the future.

Oh! Cool beans. I appreciate your help at any rate. It was fixed but it looks like halo waypoint is down too? So I guess all I can do is wait and see what happens.
