  1. If I remember correctly, it was pretty difficult getting pass level 35 in Halo 2. A lot of skilled players were stuck around 35-40. Significantly different in Halo 3, where it was much easier getting to 45.
  2. TC, I'm with you. Call me ignorant, but a visible skill system has always been a great form of motivation for me. I've been playing Halo online for almost 11 years on LAN, XBConnect, Gamespy, and XBL. Halo 2 was the best I've experienced in competitive teamwork matchmaking.
  3. It's easier to complain than to compliment, it's just the way it is. I don't really bother participating with all the common complaints on these forums, most of them are too minor for me. I'm more on here looking for tips to improve my skill. =]
  4. Teamwork has been quite a high learning curve for me in this game because I'm much more of a one-man-army type of player. I usually get a positive k/d result but with my team losing. I play with my other two friends with k/d of 0.6 and 0.9, so it means a lot for us when there's a win, especially in a 3v4 match(343i needs to fix this). I must say that 343i did a great job with matching us against other competitive players. Every game has been a challenge. So yeah, I'm still working on team strategy with my other friends. I'm still customizing my loadouts as of today and trying to play support more. Love the challenge that this game has been providing so far!
  5. I haven't played campaign yet -- was playing team death match with friends all night, and it was just crazy fun. I haven't touched a Halo game in over a year so it was quite refreshing to see the fast action gameplay again (was adjusted to COD camping style) and figuring out what guns and equipments to use. I was getting owned in a lot of matches...and loving it! This means days of practices for me lol. My only complaint so far is the lack of maps rotation in team slayer. I'd love to play 4v4 on Valhalla. Oh, I don't like the new lobby either but it isn't a biggie. So far I feel at home with Halo 4. I'm definitely a happy camper.
  6. Before playing the game, I was sure that I'll be using the BR all the way. But so far, I'm really enjoying the DMR.
  7. That low level players you're speaking off could be playing under their second account. =p Here's the thing. I really like the ranking system in Halo 2 & 3, and it had kept me playing much much longer than Reach. But it will never be a deal breaker for me in buying a Halo game. After playing COD games for so long, I do miss those moments where I'd say to myself, "**** there's a level 49 here." You know damn well that if you're seeing a group of 47-49s in Halo 3 ranked matches, you better bring your best game and prepare for the worst. Yes there were some terrible high ranked players (even myself at level 48, 2nd account, had my own bad days), but from experience, matches were mostly competitive for me. I do hate being grouped with people in Halo 3 that take ranking so seriously. When losing, they're some of the most angry people I've seen on XBL. So yeah from reading around the forums, I'm glad there will be some sort of match making based on skill.
  8. Thanks for the greetings everyone, it was nice reading through all of them heh. At 30, I guess I should feel young among the older crowd lol. I remember 10 years ago how I had considered quittng gaming later in life but that didn't happen. Although with limited gaming time now, the next couple years will be reserved for the best games, which are Halo 4 and Phantasy Star Online 2 for me.
  9. I've been using this attachment (only on the right analog stick) myself for over 12 months already and was able to reach a K/D ratio of 2.05 in MW3 with the MK14 covering over 40,000 kills in team deathmatch. The height adjustment allows more control, making it slower like what Sierra said, which requires you to play with a much higher sensitivity. I was playing at 9 sensitivity level with the stick, and 4 without. The extra extension gives me more control and range when turning -- I can quickly turn (during close combat) or slowly turn while keeping a good aim. I've tried playing without the extension and it would just feel weird lol.
  10. I haven't been in a gaming forum for over half a decade so it was a bit awkward registering here. In my college years, I used to play Halo CE on XBC before the existence of Xbox Live. Loved Halo 2 & 3. Not crazy for Reach though. I used to be a bigger fan of 2d fighters and jrpg but Halo got me into FPS. I just retired from MW3 in the excitement of Halo 4. If you see a guy running around with a three character XBL tag, that could be me. And if you're into competitive match making, add me up. So yeah, any other old timers here?
  11. I'm mostly for skill but can enjoy the game socially too.
  12. I love the look I remember how much I used to hate the look of the Pit before Halo 3 came out but it became my one of my favorite Halo maps of all time. Anyway, I'm crazy excited for Haven.
