I agree with this. Although it's highly unlikely that we'll see Halo Wars 2 release for the PC, since Microsoft are so insistent on releasing everything for the Xbox.

Just because Didact is dead, doesn't mean that there isn't going to be a villain in future games. In fact, it's implied a couple of times during Halo 4's story that Didact isn't alone. Yeah, hopefully he isn't some Robin-style sidekick again either.

Spartan Ops to me, has a lot of potential. But it falls short in many ways. Not only is it pretty easy to complete even on harder difficulties, but it seems to lack in storytelling too. To me, it just doesn't seem to get anywhere. It's a shame really, because like I said before, it has a lot of potential to be a gateway to other stories across the Halo universe, at any point. The only two things holding it back at the moment is that it's trying to serve as a side story AND a Firefight style gametype at the same time and that it's for the time being restricted to Crimson, Infinity and Requiem. In my opinion, Spartan Ops in the future needs to stop being a replacement for Firefight and become its own thing, and 343i need to bring normal Firefight back. If they want to add some more objectives and the like to Firefight, then they should just create new gametypes for it (sort of like what Reach did with Generator Defense and Spartans vs Elites, as well as enabling customization for FF). When I say Spartan Ops should "become its own thing", I mean it should be a bunch of side stories worthy of the Halo name. The Halo universe is huge. There are lots of stories that 343i could tell in that universe, whether it's the Covenant war, the Insurrectionists and even secret wars that "never happened" thanks to ONI's cover ups. The way I see it, Spartan Ops being all about Crimson and the Infinity travelling back to Requiem is what's holding it back (as well as it trying to serve as a Firefight replacement as well, as I mentioned before). If 343i hadn't placed such a massive restriction on Spartan Ops, they could have done literally anything they wanted with each episode: ODSTs, Spartan-IIs, Spartan-IIIs, marines, hell even Covenant. Each episode could have been completely different to the previous episode and it would have helped to keep things fresh. It's not too late. 343i can still do these things, whether it's for Season 2 or for future Halo games. If they did do something like this, then I'd certainly buy seasons as I'd be getting something new each time. Even if it meant waiting longer to get new episodes, I still think that this is a better alternative than just being stuck to the same planet that we've already explored in the main story. What do you guys think?

Spartan Ops has serious potential, but I agree, it does seem to fall short. Still, these episodes have been slightly improved. At least the maps are different this time - although I didn't really want to jinx it there as 343i might be reusing these new environments in future episodes.

I think it's because of the Spartan-IVs. After all, how people join is pretty much the same. ODSTs used to be the soldiers that would get the high risk jobs done when there weren't any Spartans available to do them. Now that there are more Spartans, there's not really a need for them any more.

Personally I can't wait to see what 343i can do with the new Xbox's technology. Halo 5 is pretty much the only reason I've got for getting the new Xbox so far.

Did you get disconnected from Xbox Live during your run? The armor is tied to commendations for completing each level on Legendary, and those commendations can't be earned if you're playing offline.

Are we talking about the 360, or all the way back to the original Xbox? I first played the original Xbox a couple of months after it came out and also started playing the 360 a couple of months after it came out. I got the 360 for two reasons, Oblivion and Halo 3. -
I'm probably in the minority here, but Halo 4. I don't really care what 343i do to change the gameplay, as long as they keep hitscan. That was the number one frustrating thing about Halo 3, from my experience.

I personally don't think 343i should bring back betrayals, in fact they should look into removing it in gametypes like King of the Hill, mainly because the teammates I get are stupid. They just don't seem to understand that rushing the hill while I'm throwing grenades at the enemies on there is a bad idea. Sure, the lack of team markers doesn't help, but surely they can see the grenades flying over to the hill. Then you have the many other different reasons as to why betraying shouldn't come back, but they were listed above by another member so I won't go into detail about those. Making the game less unique? Friendly fire has been in many games. It's nothing exclusive to Halo. Even Call of Duty has it in their 'Hardcore' gametypes so it's hardly something I'd call "unique". And let's be honest here, the majority of players on matchmaking aren't exactly careful whether there is friendly fire or not. The other half are people who charge mindlessly into the fight and don't pay attention to the grenades being thrown, or the rockets being fired. Most of the time it has nothing to do with the person who threw the grenades or fired the rockets being careless or inconsiderate. It's the opposite in fact, it's the people charging the enemy despite the grenades being thrown or the rockets being fired in that general direction. And one final thing, "realism"? Are you forgetting that this is a sci-fi game based on super soldiers who have inhuman strength and speed, and can jump at ridiculous heights?

They really need to bring the Arbiter back. Not as a sidekick, though. They also need to tell us wtf happened to Jun!

I hope not. Games need more development time, not less. Especially since there were quite a few oversights in Halo 4. That was different. Halo CE had longer development time. If Halo 5 is released alongside the new Xbox next year, it will have only had a year in the studio, which would worry me in terms of quality of the final product.

No, bloom should never be increased. Bloom doesn't belong on a precision weapon, it is better suited towards automatic weapons. What 343i should do is decrease the rate of fire slightly and the DMR would be perfect, because that's the ONLY problem with the DMR: It can fire shots slightly faster than the BR, and the Carbine is weak so that's why it is winning in most situations. If the firing rate was decreased slightly, the DMR would be able to maintain its advantage at longer ranges whilst giving the other precision weapons a chance at shorter ranges. Problem solved. But whatever 343 does, they should not reintroduce a mechanic that played its part in Reach's downfall.

Okay, I guess a Pistol class weapon is supposed to beat a Shotgun class weapon at its own game then.

Is it just me, or has teamwork really declined in Halo 4? I've been encountering a lot of selfish players in matchmaking recently, up to the point where I've seen better teamwork in COD (and that's saying something) and I personally think it's down to two things: 1) Commendations and 2) The lack of team markers that previous Halo games had (for example, the X). Perhaps the lack of an actual skill system doesn't help either, but from my experience, teamwork wasn't bad in Reach and that also didn't have a skill system. I don't know whether this can be done for Halo 4, but if not, then 343i should look into making future Commendations point-based rather than kill-based. For example, say if you're using the DMR, rather than the Commendations being "get x kills with the DMR", it should be "get x points with the DMR". Assists should be counted. That would in theory promote more teamwork. They should also bring the team markers back. For those who haven't played previous games, there were specific markers that appeared over teammates when certain activity occurred. Yellow for the teammate firing, red if they were taking damage and an X if they died. I didn't even realize just how helpful this was in previous Halo games until it was removed. Now I don't even know where my teammates are half of the time. Does anyone agree with me, or is it just me who has been experiencing bad teamwork in Halo 4?

Halo 4. I just have a better experience with it overall. Halo 3 had so many problems that were never fixed. I do miss the Custom Games, though.

Sounds good. Not into that sort of thing personally, but it'll be nice for those who are. Besides, wasn't there a Halo MMO that got cancelled?

I've said it before and I'll say it again: 720 would be a cheesy name for it. Hopefully Microsoft will name it something else. Other than that, if the image is actually real, then it looks nice. I don't think it is real though, the disc slot on it looks way too small.

I actually thought the Warthog was faster in this game. I can see that the turret has been nerfed, though. It seems to overheat faster than it did in Reach and it's not as powerful. As for the Mongoose, I haven't used it yet. Sadly I probably won't have a reason to since 343i have removed Race.

It's just the firing rate that needs to be slightly lowered. In its current state, it can shoot a little faster, if not just as fast as the BR, but it has a longer range AND you only need one shot to hit to do the exact same damage as 3 BR shots. Reducing the firing rate of the DMR would in no way make the weapon useless, it would just stop it from dominating in areas that it's not supposed to be dominating in. Removing the DMR from loadouts would elimate the purpose of the weapon, as it was likely reintroduced to Halo because of player preferences (which is good, since I prefer single shot weapons).

From my experience, bloom is only good for automatic weapons. It doesn't belong on weapons such as the BR, DMR, Carbine, etc. because it simply can't be implemented well enough and have an effect at the same time. Just look at the Halo 4 DMR. That is the ideal bloom, but there's no point to it because it resets as soon as you are able to fire off another shot. It simply has a better effect on automatic weapons because of the constant rate of fire, and bloom keeps them in check for when they're being fired at longer ranges. People shouldn't be punished for out-shooting someone with a precision weapon. As for the Boltshot problem, I believe that there are many people who aren't too happy about the Boltshot's current state. Now, I'm not trying to shoot people's opinions down in flames if they think that the Boltshot is fine, but answer me this folks: What is the point in the standard shots on that thing if they're weak as hell and the charged shots can instantly kill people? Making it take down shields rather than having it instantly kill people would actually make the standard shots have a purpose, in my opinion. Not to mention that it would make the Boltshot take a little more skill to get kills. It wouldn't make it useless, it would just be more on par with the other sidearms.

I hope not. High street retailers are finding it hard to stay in business as it is. Not to mention that you won't be able to sell the game if you don't like it to someone else who might enjoy it. It's unfair that publishers can get away with things like online passes as it is. If I buy a car used, the manufacturers wouldn't be allowed to disable headlights until a give them some money to turn them back on again, so the same shouldn't happen with games. What publishers don't like to mention about used games is that it's a copy that they've already made money from.

It slowed down the pace of the game a bit too much for my liking. Not to mention that adding extra bloom on to the DMR would kind of eliminate the purpose of it being a long range weapon. I disagree with people who say the DMR is overpowered on big maps because people are shooting them at long ranges, that's what the weapon is for. The problem with the DMR is that it is dominating in areas it shouldn't be dominating in. The BR should have the advantage in shorter ranges and the DMR should have the advantage in longer ranges, but there should also be enough time for people to take cover.

What the DMR needs is a slight firing rate reduction. What it doesn't need is more randomness (bloom) and a damage reduction. The damage is fine. It's a 5 shot just like the BR is. It just fires faster than the BR and that's the problem.

We don't need bloom on the DMR. Why reintroduce something that contributed towards Reach failing? Yes, the DMR is slightly overpowered, but we just need a decrease in rate of fire on the weapon. I don't want randomness such as bloom plaguing the game again. And the Boltshot IS overpowered. As I've said in a previous thread, I can't even get killed with Shotguns and Scattershots from the range that the Boltshot has been killing me from. It's a bloody starting weapon and it's beating power weapons! Either it's overpowered, or it's working fine and shouldn't be a starting weapon, because at the moment it's a Forerunner Pistol beating the Forerunner Shotgun at its own game.
