I've never heard that the Gauss Hog is not supposed to be in matchmaking. I do know that it appears in certain maps, and on the gametype heavies. As for why you are being pwnd by it, that's because it is (imo) the best weapon you can use that's attached to a warthog. It is pretty much a wide reticle sniper rifle that's a one shot kill, penetrating, moderate firing weapon of mass death. Like the sniper rifle, it can penetrate an unlimited amount of enemies. Unlike the sniper rifle, it is very mobile, has splash damage, has unlimited ammo, and is known to fire through certain forge objects. It can kill people, vehicles, and aircraft. As far as what you can do about getting pwnd by it, you must either learn to be a ninja, or use heavy weapons from a great distance. Or, you can learn to use it so effectively that the enemy team never gets a chance to use theirs. Okay, I've said it three times now. This. Is. Not. A. Debate. What part of that do you not understand? This is an "informative" thread, not an "in my opinion" thread. But, I'll humor you. Here is my response to the "real point" of that post. For clarification, MLG is known for using glitches as well. BXR, the weapon switch glitch, the sniper drag shot, jump crouching, and several other unintended gameplay mechanics that they use unless they are specifically told not to in a tournament. So no, HLG isn't the only organization that uses glitching to "enhance" their gameplay experience.

Actually, Bungie claims that the third shot going off on a random vector (which isn't really that random, it has a very low chance of landing inside the reticle, and a very high chance of landing just outside of the reticle) was a planned decision that they included to help balance the BR. DYK that one of the glitches in Halo 3 is the "Reload Glitch", which was widely used until they patched it. The reload mechanic made it to where players could not fire certain weapons (with the exclusion of the shotgun) while they were reloading. However, players could cut the time it took to reload and thereby fire again by switching weapons back and forth quickly about halfway through the animation (just before the magazine entered the weapon).

I wish I saw this sooner. I am not an employee of 343i, and these maps are not going in Matchmaking. lol This forum is not run by 343i, it's a forum for fans of 343i and Halo. These maps (the ones that are being included in the map pack) are maps for community playdates and custom games. As far as how to get your map into matchmaking, they usually have forge contests. Uploading your map to ForgeHub after the new fileshare system comes out wouldn't hurt. Also, for them to pick a map for matchmaking it has to meet certain qualifications. It has to be compatible with all objective gametypes, no matter what playlist it's in. (CTF, Assault, Oddball, etc). It also has to be a fairly balanced map.

Did you know that when you go to flip the elephant on Sand Trap, the HUD pop-up telling you to press a button to flip says the following instead of the usual message (which would be "Hold {button here} to flip {vehicle name here}")? Hold (button here) to flip... Wait, what? How did you do that?

There's quite a few solutions with such non-specifics. 1. A bear broke into the cabin and killed the two people (who were using the radio for weather reports and such). 2. The people in the cabin were spies or military and were killed by a breach and clear by their enemy. 3. The two people were a skydiver with their coach who's parachute didn't deploy and crashed through the skylight of the cabin. 4. It was a guy and a girl who were vacationing (using the radio for weather reports) who killed each other in a domestic dispute. 5. The "cabin" is actually an old fashioned wooden airplane or modern glider cabin, and the two people crashed on top of the mountain. Any of these correct?

My suggestion is to try your hand at snipers. If you haven't done it yet, it will put you against newer players (such as yourself) so that you can gradually learn. Although, the best way to learn is to play with people who are REALLY good, get your butt kicked a lot, and then get better. The School of Hard Knocks doesn't have many graduates, but those who do are practically built of iron. Crappy metaphor, but you get the drift. Playing against good people will make you better faster than playing with people who don't know what they are doing.
