  1. Um... welcome to the forum... This is not the place for this, and there is already a thread for this lol Plus, this is a community forum, if you want an official place halo.xbox.com would be the place for that Anyways, hope you stick around.
  2. Introduction: Pretty much what this is going to be is me telling you about some good games that you might not have even heard of. I'll try to do these as often as possible, but no promises. Maybe bi-monthly, maybe monthly. Here's how it will work. I'll tell you what platform it's for (Computer, Xbox, PS3, and whatnot) then I'll rate it (1-10 with 1 being a stinker and ten being impossible because I'm VERY picky), and then I'll tell you what the game is about. Alright, now on to the first game. Mount and Blade (Warband) Platform: Computer The Director's Rating: 9/10 (-1 for graphics, they aren't as good as they probably could have been, but what do I know?) This is technically a two for one, because Warband is an expansion of sorts. The original game was released "Mount and Blade" and featured some really cool gameplay styles. Firstly, it's an RPG. But it's probably unlike any RPG you've ever played. It's set in medieval times, you have character customization, and you can select your characters "backstory" which effects just about everything you start out with in the game. It is non-linear, and you can do nearly anything you want to do. See a village who's name you don't like? Burn it. A king being kind of an arse to you? Go to war with him and steal his kingdom. You get to hire troops, followers (aka generals), and even take prisoners if you feel so inclined. This game is amazing. Combat: The combat in this game is set in third person (but you can go to first person if you'd like) and features melee, ranged, and cavalry attacks. That's right, you can fight on a horse. How cool is that? Really cool, that's how cool. Weapons/armor: The weapons in this game are varied. There are multiple types of melee weapons with different effects (like bonuses against armor or shields), multiple types of shields, multiple armors, etc. This game has the most varied arsenal I've personally ever seen. The weapons range from swords to lances, from arrows to javelins, the list goes on. You can equip up to 4 different types of weapons (3 if you equip a shield). Oh? You're wondering about the lances? That's right, you can act like a knight and joust people. Awesome, right? Horses: They have several different types of horses in this game that are suited for different play-styles. You plan on being that guy who charges head on into the enemy on your horse? Get yourself an armored one. Are you more interested in speed? Grab yourself a fast one. You want a fast horse that can take some hits? They've got that too! Map Movement: The map movement is similar to how you move troops in strategy games. It's eagle view, and you click to travel. When you get to your destination, the game pauses automatically so time doesn't pass while you are deciding where to go next. Worried about not finding anyone to fight with? Don't be. There are raiders and such wandering around the map looking for fools to take their gold. Worried about fighting too much? Get a large enough amount of troops with you and they will flee in terror before your might. Skills: EVERYTHING in the game is based on what skills you have (and don't have). From combat to movement speed on the world map, I'm not exaggerating when I say that if you can do it (except cheat) then there is a skill for it. Synopsis: This game is VERY in depth. There is almost no limit to how you play it. Want to become a king? You can do it. Want to be a lord? You can do it. Want to be a wandering mercenary? You can do it. I've spent days and days at a time on this game, and I have yet to repeat an experience (except the dialogue, it can be repetitive just like any game). The game is open ended, non-linear, and very very good. Oh, and did I mention there are cheat codes? Which makes it even more fun. The Director's Recommendation: Get this game. You can get it on Steam (or just google search Mount and Blade Warband and see what you come up with ). It's a relatively cheap game for how much time was obviously spent in making it. I also recommend getting Mount and Blade Warband instead of the regular Mount and Blade, because as I said before Warband is sort of an expansion. Put it this way. Mount and Blade is the original game, M&B Warband is the game with all of the DLC. That wraps up the first of these. If you have a recommendation for a game that I should review, then let me know in the comments (I follow all of my threads ;D). Remember though, if it's a hyped up game then I won't do it. "Lesser Known" is in the title after all. Hope you enjoy your time in the world of games. Update: New Menu thread. Check it out! http://www.343industries.org/forum/topic/8342-the-directors-lesser-known-games-menu/
  3. Mine is totalitarianism. REALLY fun to say while inebriated.
  4. Any game from the Dues Ex series. There's three. They are good. What is your favorite anime/cartoon?
  5. Granted, but you have horrible heartburn for the rest of your short lifespan. I wish that I had the Marvin.
  6. That pretty much goes for anything xD Roxio isn't a very well known capture product yet. I'd also be interested to see a review. Anybody have one?
  7. Welcome to the forum. I hope you have fun here, and that you make many new friends
  8. StarCraft, Command and Conquer, Mount and Blade (strategy with a FPS with it). That's about all I can think of. lol
  9. Nope, refuse to play games that are too addictive. If a stranger gave you a pie, would you eat it?
  10. I believe that for all loadouts you should be able to choose the following items. A starting weapon: DMR, AR, BR, Carbine, Plasma Repeater, Plasma Rifle and any other moderate weapon. A secondary weapon: Magnum, Plasma Pistol, SMG, or Needler. An armor ability: All of the armor abilities in the game. A grenade type: Sticky, Frag, Spikey, or (hopefully) Fuego. I don't know there will be perks in the game (have heard rumors but not actual facts on it, I'm treating FV as an AA) so I'll leave those out. I don't believe in unlocking weapons and other game influencers, because that gives people who buy the game the first day an unfair advantage over those who have to save up. I've been one of those people who've had to save up for most of my life, so I know what it's like to hop on a game and go against a guy who has unlocked everything while I still have starter weapons. It's BS. The only thing that leveling up should unlock is cosmetic customization. Including unlockable game influencers is an unbalanced decision, and I really hope that it doesn't happen.
  11. I love my Hazops Helmet. I switch from blue flames to inclement weather based on what gametype I'm playing.
  12. Because I'm awesome, and I love you? And I wasn't in the top five last time
  13. Alright, prepare for a REALLY long post. The reason the Halo 3 ranking system didn't work was because it was based on w/l ratio, which meant that either you had to carry like crazy or be a team player to get a 50. The reason this ranking system was fundamentally flawed is because it penalized losing with a lost rank. You could go from 1 to 50 and back down to five in a week. The penalizing also lead to "deranking" and "boosting", which turned the entire ranking system into a lame joke. A deranker is someone who loses games to go down in the ranks just to troll the lower level players by not allowing them to rank up. A booster is someone who loses many many games intentionally so that whoever they play with will get boosted up 10-20 ranks at a time, depending on how good the booster is. For a while there was even a black market for boosters. This sort of thing is unacceptable (and also illegal by a couple of copyright laws), which is why this ranking system is no longer used. As far as Halo Reach's ranking system, it too was flawed because it followed the "time played" route. Rather than rewarding ranks to exceptional players, it implemented a credit system that allowed players of mediocre skill to rise in rank. This ranking system wasn't just for Matchmaking either, campaign and other non-multiplayer gametypes also rewarded credits. This is why there are inheritors who are -30000 in matchmaking. So these two ranking systems are obviously not the best choice for Halo 4. Unless, they were combined and changed a bit. Here's my idea for this: Ranking system based on levels 1-50 that is given base on individual player skill (k/d, medals, and whatnot) and a symbolized ranking system that shows time spent playing the game. This way, you know that you are in trouble if you see a lv50 Inheritor on the other team. However, the ranking system should only go negative based off of an individual player, to prevent booster accounts. There will still be derankers, but they won't affect things that much. They also shouldn't make it a one step forward two steps back type of thing for the 1-50 ranking system either, which will help against derankers. Also, armor customizations and such should be unlocked based on the symbolized rank, and symbolized rank should also be based off of skill to some level. The better you are, the more you rank up in both rank types. This will appease both parties, the MLG and the Casual players, because they can both rank up, but the MLG players can still brag about how good they are without having to look up k/d ratios.
  14. It's almost time for the next MoM to take the mantle I hope it's me Kind of doubt that it will be though. :/ Also, 343iBot is Twam's daughter. As the daughter of the almighty, anyone who gazes upon, listens to, or touches her in non-internet form will have their head explode. Just something to think about. ;D
  15. Granted, but you break your leg and are sent to the glue plant. I wish that were the richest man in the world.
  16. I like symphonies. Any type, really, as long as it's a good one. If you could have anything in the world, what would it be?
  17. I'll give you 1 million of my population as slaves for em
  18. Love the video, wish I could draw like that. On a side note, not really a fan of the new helmet lol I like the MKV more xD The protrusion on the front sort of looks like a misshapen nose lol
