Poll added on 11/29/11 Halo 2 Remastered for 12th Halo Anniversary
The Director replied to Arbiter's topic in Halo 2 + Anniversary
Technical mumbo jumbo aside, I see a lot of people talking about the multiplayer of 2004. That won't be able to be brought back, and let's face it, if they did try it people would be upset about it for some reason or another. That said, if they did release a Halo 2 Anniversary that was similar to how they did the CEA Anniversary, I would buy it. So would all of my friends in real life, and more than likely their friends would as well. Why? Because my friends and I loved playing H2 on campaign. And even if you exclude those that loved Halo 2's campaign, there are still hundreds of thousands who would buy it just to see how it plays, and a few thousand more who would buy it just to add to their collection. And then a few hundred thousand more who never got to play Halo 2's campaign, and who started with Halo Reach or Halo 3 after they stopped producing H2 discs. All in all, if they do it right it could be very profitable for them, so I don't see why they wouldn't. Or why Microsoft wouldn't MAKE them do it. lol -
How will the weapons change-good or bad?
The Director replied to Bake A Cake In 5 Seconds's topic in Halo 4
Lmao That's exactly what I thought to myself when I first fired an M16 xD I was like, "Well... that's not what I expected..." rofl -
How will the weapons change-good or bad?
The Director replied to Bake A Cake In 5 Seconds's topic in Halo 4
To me it sounds more like an actual rifle that uses a buffer spring (i.e. the M16 A-2 and A-4). When I first saw the video, I was reminded of my first time on a range holding an M16. It does sound weird, but it is more realistic than "brapapap". -
Actually, you are completely wrong here. Haven't you ever heard the phrase "Shoot and move"? This didn't originate with FPS, it originated with the REAL snipers. Everybody knows that if you are sniping, and someone manages to see your muzzle flash, or pinpoint the trajectory of your round, then you are going to get a wall of lead or explosives travelling at you at high speeds. Not to mention that the Halo Sniper rifle was made specifically so that you would have to shoot and move, not sit on the same rock the entire game. Want to know how I know that it is? 1. The ammo you get with the sniper rifle is low, which means that if you sit in the same spot too long eventually you will have to go looking for more ammo. 2. The bullet trail and distinctive sound gives away your position to the entire enemy team, which means that if you stay still, they will come after you (if they are smart) to eliminate your team's power weapon. 3. The only places in any Halo map that offer enough protection for you to camp properly with the sniper have a very limited range of view, which defeats the purpose of the sniper entirely. All of this means one thing. Unless you are very, very good with a sniper, you will not be able to stay in the same spot without getting taken down. Also, your earlier argument that CoD sniping is ruined by the killcam is invalid, because everybody knows that the sniping is ruined by the small maps. The largest CoD map is roughly the size of a "Small-medium" map in Halo, and is considered a "CQC map" by BF3. So that you don't get confused, my main point is that Sniping in Halo will not be effected much with the addition of a FP killcam.
-
I see one point saying that "long range weapons become obsolete with kill-cams". Well, that's not necessarily true in Halo. Considering that the camera pans to the position of the person that killed you (and always has, mind you) and with super-range weapons like the sniper there is a bullet trail. So, if you are even decent at Halo, you will automatically know where that player is even without kill-cams. Honestly, I'm apathetic when it comes to kill-cams. There have been multiple times where I wanted to know exactly how a player managed to kill me, but not enough to make me want a kill-cam with all my heart. I would prefer if it would work the way it does in BF3, where it zooms in on them in third person and shows a bit of their surroundings, but that's just me. Also, before someone says something, no it doesn't ruin sniping on BF3 by working that way. Not even a little bit lol and sniping is one of the key components OF BF3. If you don't have at least one sniper on your team on BF3, then you are playing TDMCQ. lmao

Honestly, I didn't like Firefight that much. I liked it single player, and only because it had a really good credit output, but it gets boring after about the first round to me. It's also very frustrating when playing with 3 other people who's only goal in life is to steal your kills (which seemed to happen to me all the time. q.q) I am very excited for Spartan Ops, because I'm a campaign based player. I love stories. And anything that adds to the story of the Haloverse (without breaking other parts of the story) is good by me.

What kind of DLC would you like to see in Halo 4?
The Director replied to DarknessX03's topic in Halo 4
The only forge DLC I'd like to see would be free DLC, otherwise you would have to pay to play custom maps that contained bits from DLC, and that just isn't cool. -
Welcome to the 343i community forums, the friendliest place in the Haloverse (or else >.> lmao). If you have any questions, feel free to PM myself or any other moderator. I hope you enjoy your stay.

I think it's regenerate, not resuscitate (i.e. they can heal, not bring back to life). Then again, a way they can revive the promethean knight is by the weapon that they drop. For instance, if the player doesn't pick up the weapon (or the ammo of the weapon, causing the weapon to despawn) then the watcher would be able to revive the knight. ^That is not info on Halo 4, it's just a possibility, a hypothesis if you would. That's how I imagine it working if they could resuscitate their comrades.

Actually, boosting is against the terms and conditions the way it was done in Halo 3. That's why most of my booster accounts were banned, and why I recieved a console ban. I believe it's "using known or unknown in-game exploits to influence the results of a game." In this case, the results being the amount of "skill level" earned at the end of the match. Btw, for those of you still saying that there was hardly any boosting/deranking on H3, let me share this with you. AAN2 is my newest account, and it was entirely funded off of 3 months paid to me by those who wanted me to boost them up to 50's. That's roughly 3 years worth of XBL, paid in 3 month increments. Also, I made enough MSP to purchase all of the Halo 3 DLC, all of the Dragon Age DLC, all of the Mass Effect DLC (for 1 and 2, not for 3), and quite a few indie games. And that isn't even considered successful. Mind you, this was all around 3 years ago. I've matured a bit since then. But the fact remains that it was more prevalent than you guys think. And Frankie's data is probably inaccurate, but on the underestimating side, not overestimating. Whenever you see a general that is playing a game of ranked Slayer that's TS is around a 10 or so, and he goes 20-5 or something like that, he deranked. Whenever you see a guy who just doesn't seem to have a grasp on the game, and has over 1000 losses, that's a booster account. Whenever you see dudes betraying each other and not booting, those are derankers. Right now, not very many people even still play H3, so there definitely aren't as many as in it's hayday. But there's probably a couple still hanging around.

Idk, that's one stat that I really don't like, especially in games with bullet-spread and automatic weapons. Not to mention that once you miss your first shot, you'll never be able to get it back up to 100%. Which hurts me on a very deep and OCD level.

Because there isn't an overabundance of swearing on Halo itself, and quite a few members of this forum are under the age of 17. If they DO get in trouble for playing Halo because of the swearing, we'd rather they also not get in trouble for visiting a site where every three words is an F bomb (like some of the other forums that allow swearing). We allow certain swears, of course, such as "ass" "damn" and such, but the words that are not allowed are usually caught by the censors, so we don't have our members running and asking their parents what they mean, and end up getting spammed with parental hate mail. If you are subtley asking why the above member was banned for posting a video that contained swearing, it was because if he would have typed what was said in the video, about 1/3 of the characters would have been astericks. And when the video was removed, he then got on a soapbox and put it back up. He was then warned against it, and it was taken down again. Not so much as two minutes later, he had edited it back in. Gotta ask yourself, what did he THINK was going to happen? lol Seriously though, I don't understand why people complain about the rule on swearing. I have the mouth of a sailer (no seriously, you ever get me in an XBL party and you'll find out) and I manage to make it just fine without swearing here.

I honestly don't like that they are doing this. I can see WHY they are, I just don't like it. Correct me if I'm wrong, but this is the first time Halo has done "Double EXP if you buy Mountain Dew", isn't it? They've done promotional stuff with Mountain Dew (i.e. Game Fuel), but so far haven't stooped as low to make it "Buy more Mtn. Dew, get a higher rank". :/

Your best bet is with a .JPG, although most other formats work as well. Once you've selected an image, all you have to do is save it to your computer, open up paint or another image editing program, and make the image size less than 200x200 pixels. Then just save it, and upload it here.

Tried to eh? Funny thing is I was going to unban you today. Literally was logging on just to unban you when I noticed this second account. That's ban evasion, which is a permanent ban. The reason you were banned yesterday is because you posted a video containing graphic swearing, which is against the rules, and after several warnings you continued to post the video. You claiming that I was trying to "silence you" is humorous, because all I did to your post was remove the video, which wasn't needed anyway. If you had taken the two or three minutes out of your day to type out what you meant by "call of duty treatment" instead of using a video that had the f word every few sentences, and THEN using those two or three minutes to repost said video, then you wouldn't be banned, would you? As for "looking for an excuse" I didn't even have to. You slapped me in the face with one. Enjoy your ban bro.

You were very, very lucky then. In the first week I got H3 I encountered boosters and derankers. I encountered them in such abundance that it put me off of H3 for a while. Then my friend informed me of how much MSP he had made off of deranking and boosting other players, and so I created a couple of other accounts and joined him in it. And my friend and I weren't the only ones who did this as well, and we by far weren't the most successful. Every other couple of games that we were deranking we would run into other derankers and have what was called "Deranker wars", where we could see who could go the most negative to gain the loss. We even had a couple different deranking/boosting clans with 30+ members ask us to join. There was even a pretty well known "derankers code". Point is, quite a few people profited off of Halo 3's broken ranking system, which turned it into a joke. Halo 2's ranking system had it's problems as well, but it was by far better than H3's.

Halo 4 has recieved the "Call of Duty Treatment"
The Director replied to Man of The People's topic in Halo 4
You point out any other posts to me that have swearing in a PM and I'll be sure to edit them. Also, limited (note the limited part of that) blood and gore are not against the site rules. Swearing is. I should also point out that if you have ever spoken to me offsite, you would know that I have one of the dirtiest mouths on the planet. However, if I can refrain from swearing and posting videos/pictures that contain swear words, then so can you.- 10 replies

Halo 4 has recieved the "Call of Duty Treatment"
The Director replied to Man of The People's topic in Halo 4
Exactly. And the thing is, this is nothing new. If you go back to forums from Halo CE, people were complaining about gameplay features in Halo 2 that they didn't like (or even know about), and people were doing the same thing for Halo 3. I remember a topic called "Equipment, you gotta be kidding me" lol Thing is, all those of us in the know can do is try to educate the lesser beings.- 10 replies
