  1. I have read a lot of hostility towards Sarah, I would just like to understand why. How would Spartan OPs be without her? Just Lasky doing whathever he thinks is right without anyone against him (like the Halsey incident). I would just like to understand this unlikeness, as I have only found request for her death but no reasons.

    Reticle Height

    As all of us know, the reticle, throughout the halo games, has always appeared a little bit lower than half-screen, which is different to other games. I have always wondered (in Halo 3 and ODST) why did i had to look to the sky, rendering no vision to the battlefield, when i had to headshot a brute at very close range. Moreover, when I am moving, both single and multiplayer, the reticle is always aiming the ground; when i find somone i have to pull it up and almost look at the sky In some of the Halo 4 videos in which we could see actual gameplay, i noticed that the reticle is, once again, at a very low height, if not lower. Don't you think it should be changed and placed in the middle? Or, at least, higher?
  3. Although i appreciate your work in the video, the trailer in e3 is more like the first cutscene of the game. Your video as a trailer would mean something very different. Yours is really a trailer whereas the e3 release is more like a cutscene. What I mean is that 343i meant something different in their trailer. your video us still good, though
  4. Ok, The idea of recreating Halo 2 and 3 is something that I'm not really interested (I don't mind if they create them, though, all I'm saying is that I won't be asking for it). (I have nothing to say about the franchise finishing with a recreation of H3) About HODST2 and HW2, I think it is a great idea (though, I don't know when the Xbox 720 will come out, if it indeed comes out) Halo MMO, It's a great idea, smth i've been thinking about for quite a long time. Of course, Every vehicle should be drivable (including spaceships) and you could choose where to drop. About the lives, I think it should depend on the gametype. There could be one gametype in which people only have one life, so that when you kill sme, you know that, now, your team has 1 more player than the other, and not just wait for the other to respawn. Of course, other gametypes should have unlimited lives. There could also be some kind of Gigantic Invasion. Where Elites drop from orbit in drop pods, phantoms, banshees, seraphs, whatever, have to retrieve smth or destroy smth, then go back to their ship now UNSC controlled and glass the planet. smth around that. Nice idea,

  8. 343i said very little about Halo 4, but here's what we know: When creating a sequel for the game, some things must evolve but they wanted to keep to the core of halo. That's their biggest struggle, how to evolve while keeping it to the core: - They talked about keeping halo to a sandbox style - They mentioned that the player will always have a choice of how to approach the enemy and not only one solution. - I caught this sentence: "our problem is, how can we place new weapons, new abilities without running too far away from the core." ................ Does this mean we'll have smth like Armor abilities? More: Chief's and cortana relationship will be explored Chief's mind (ideas and thoughts) will be explored. Meaning: chief will talk some more. Not too much, though, cause they cannot create a character that cannot be identified with everyone. Multiplayer will again be able to please the whole community, from the most competitive and hardcore player to the most casual player. Forge is acknowledged to be smth rather important in the halo universe and so will be incorporated in Halo 4, but nothing more was said. Discussions are being held inside 343i about whether some stuff should be not only for the console (example given: stuff for modding) If there is a Halo 4 beta it will be available for everyone and not only for those who bought Halo CEA Unfortunately 343i didn't say and no one asked whether 343i people were reading these threads and taking our opinions into consideration. In the end, they showed a small video of some concept art, check it on youtube in a few days, sme should put it there. Ok, read it and liked some ideas, Can I ask you, dominator1007, what do you think about adding this to H4: ADS, dust (real dust, try playing blowing up a grenade in BC2. the dust risen prevents you from seeing anything) Destroyable environment (like BC2) bigger maps with space battles (id doesn't necessarily mean sabres fighting each other, rather one team picking up pelicans and landing in the hangar of the other team's ship) and, of course, all vehicles on forge, plus forgable environment, changing the colors and shape of stuff and forgable firefight. thank you in advance,

Ok, i think ADS would be good for Halo, and wil explain as I answer some post below Ok, That's not a right way of thinking about stuff like this. you mean, like, let's turn, for example, CNC series to a fps game just to make it easier for crysis fans? is that it? If ADS is added it's because it has a purpose (more below) yap, halo is unique in that matter, that does not mean that it is good, though. No matter how much you like Halo, we have to understand that the quantity of fans of Halo is not comparable to the quantity of fans of COD, BF and other ADS-able-games. only if you're talking about convenat weapons, they could be changed, though. you've got to be kidding me.   13. Agree. 3rd person shoothers have a different gameplay than fps's. and, for Halo, fps is the answer. Although I am usually open to new ideas, I don't think this would be good for halo.
  14. well, it depends on the size of the campaign, really. But, If we're not thinking about a campaign too big, I would say: disk 1: campaign, forge, theatre disk 2: multiplayer, custom games, firefight, theatre. More on forge. Yes, having switches would be good, as well as elevators. the idea of the elevator should be created in a way that we could create those things that appeared in Halo 2 which we used to move around between island in Delta Halo. (don't know the name) Meaning, one should be able to create an object and tell it to move from A to B after pressing the switch X. This reminds me of the creation of moving objects, imagine: sme creates two pirate ships, have them pass near each other and leave; good for a funny CTF or assault game, for example.

  16. I wrote these posts some time ago, and I think they should be included here, please try to understand them, anyting you need, aks me. If they aren't supposed to be here, then it is because I didn't understand the purpose of this thread: please tell me and I'll remove them, cause they are, let's say, quite big. Each post ends with the word "Rafter" and start right now: As far as we all are concerned, it seems that people are being divided between a more classic Halo experience and a new Halo experience. Though, people are creating too many topics and things get repeated and disorganized. With this topic, people should give their opinion and reasons ONE time, an try not to repeat what the others said. Therefore we will have here a nice debate. Poll: (you can change your vote In this poll) Classic Halo: classic Halo experience, probably smth similar to Halo 3 and Halo 2, etc. Next Generation Halo: New Halo experience: (here are some topics but don't have to forcibly be these) - all vehicles drivable and in Multiplayer and forge (including but not only, Pelicans, Phantoms, Scarabs, AA Wraths, Sabres, Longswords, Seraphs, and possibly space ships) - Armor that gives "pearks" or "abilities" or have some kind of effect (example: armor that protects explosions, armor that is a jetpack, camera that improves the zoom in weapons which have the zoom feature, etc) - Forge: Forgable firefight maps. Forgable terrain and lights. Forgable buildings/ships/vehicles. - ADS for weapons, as well as sprint for everybody. (If you don't know what ADS is, just check all the other FPS games, except, for example, Counter-Strike) - Larger maps and larger teams (maps withs ground and space battle) - Destroyable environment. (I didn't mention above many things that people who want this kind of Halo, including me, have presented because i think they might be very controversial. Please add those things bellow) (If you want a next gen. Halo, but dont agree with everything mentioned above, vote it as well and write below your regards) Other: give your own opinion. As if I even care: you just want the game right? (Note that I didn't mention things such as a undo an redo option for forge as I think it is not a controversial matter.) Let's just get it organised to help 343i guys, Rafter : Yes, it would be good if Halo (4) became the best worldwide game, though, what should it feature? Let's think about the logics, (Right know, I will talk about the logical way to create the most famous game in the world and not what I would like Halo 4 to be) Halo CE was released 10 years ago and, scince then, 5 more Halo games came, one RTS, and 4 FPSs (being two (ODST and Reach) slightly different.) Therefore: We have 5 games quite similar (the sixth is Wars) and Halo doesn't seem to be worlwide at all. So, smth's wrong, either the game or the players (it can't be the players, moreover, you can't change them and if you find smth you can't change, you adapt to it) So, Innovation is needed, we have two options here: Option A: Create smth better and learning from the mistakes of other succesful things. Option B: Creat smth tottaly different and hope it to be successful (what happened to Halo CE) I don't see any Option B here, That leaves us with Option A. If we get ideas form other games (Which are very close to the reality) and make it better and possible to play many different gametypes in Halo, people will want to buy Halo because with 1 game, they get to play a lot of them. Meaning: in multiplayer, Halo 4 should have maps and gametypes inside SWAT (which I think should change the name to ODST) in which people could play smth like COD, Battlefield, MOH, etc. A classic Halo group of playlists: Very classic Halo with the needed palylists. And a new type of Halo: with the things fans like me would like to see, again, with the obvious playlists. Forge and firefigt should be as people are asking. So, a new type of game is needed in order to achieve the Bungie's so wanted "World Domination". Of course, some advertising would be needed For a different game, Rafter About the rankings: Most people seem to like the idea to have a ranking system in which you gain credits for the quantity of games played and skill, watch here: http://www.343industries.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=626 Now, and for the 10.000$ affirmation; this system is what is featured in.......(suspanse music).......COD! ok, not sure if it is exacly like what we've been saying before and is written in the link above, but I know they have skill levels and players earn CODpoints (the same as credits in Halo) to buy their weapons, perks and their stuff). For us, in the ODST and New Halo gametypes, the credits should be used to buy armor, some of which have some properties, as mentioned before. More ideas to the gameplay Muliplayer ODST group of playlists To start, I'd say people should start playing with the armor of a marine (or with no armor whatsoever) and, as they earn credits, buy new armor until they have a full ODST armor. Adding to my previous post; The ODST group of playlists should have playlists with small maps, to play like COD and bigger maps, to play like Battlefield, for example. The ODST group of playlists shoud have at least 1 (good would be 1-3) playlist in order to people being able to play without these new abilities and stuff like that. Meaning: it would be similar to the existent SWAT (moreover, this playlist could be really called SWAT) only fightig without an armor ability or advantage in some situations This would be something similar to the COD's Pure playlists (see the success it got them) Moreover, sme mentioned way before that, in COD, it is hard to be in lvl 1 and beat sme in lvl 50 and that he doesn't want to see this in H4. My answer: this would not be a problem in the classic Halo playlists neither in the like-Pure playlists (mentione above), and, in the others, the matchmaking system should try not to have aa player in lvl1 and another in lvl 50 in the same game, of course. (yes, I know I am mentioning COD, but it is to mention the success they had, not to tell say they we're the inventors of everything, like everyone is saying about the ADS thing) More ideas to the gameplay (for New Halo gametype and maybe for the ODST gametype) When playing COD and Battlefield games, if you need to jump out of a window or smth, you press a button and the guy jumps, Though, you're a spartan, write?, You can just jump over, right? But how come, a fully powered spartan can't do like in Crysis and jump, using the hands to grab a ledge above, pulling himself up after that? Moreover, when playing, at least Cryris 2, COD7 and Medal of Honour 2010, if you are running and press the crouch buton, you either slide, dive, roll (roll=evade AA with less distance covered), respectively. I think this could be implemented in H4, but which?, all of them have their vantages. (Adding them all cou be fun, like, running and double tap (for example to slide, tap 1 time to dive (people should be able to dive over small steps on the floor, not like in COD7 in which you can't) or press and hold the button to roll; This would be great but I doubt 343i will give us such an oppurtunity if having a great game (moreover, i doubt they'll give us what we've been writing )) Just one thing in the Macthmaking A new idea; check my post here:http://www.343industries.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=632&p=4307#p4307 Nevertheless: the Friendly Fire or FF debate; I hereby say that I don't remember whether in Halo CE and 2 FF existed, can sme remember me? Anyway, I think a debate should open between the people who want the classic Halo to decide if FF should feature in the Classic Halo playlists or not (moreover, it could be featured in some gametypes and not in others) About ODST and New Halo playlists; the idea in these is to look realistic, so I think it should be implemented. Once again, it should be an Option in the custom games (Just stick to this; EVERYTHING should be an option) Last but not the least; Campaign! I wrote this, please ty tu understand (I din't write it agian because I am, somehown tired) "And you have a different character for each group of playlists, your ranking (skill and possibly credits/exp) should be separated one's from the others, and if they had 3 or 4 campaigns (One CD only for the campaign)(smth similar to Alien vs predator)(a spartan, and ODST, an elite and a Brute (or, if the forruners appear, a forruner) campaig), each campaing should earn credits for each different group of playlists. Just and idea, but What I really wanted to talk about the campaign was (please comment) If 343i creates a multiplayer as it was written in my previous posts, should the campaign have things like ADS and sprint, dust in the air after an explosion, destroyable environment, etc? Last, really last (I know you're tired of reading)) more on Forge, could also be in the gameply section Attention, I wrote MORE on Forge, this are NOT the only ideas for forge In forge we should have destroyabe buildings and non-destroyable Mean: There is no point in having a forruner, UNSC or Covenant fully reenforced wall destroyable, and having have a small civilian buiding enduring blast after blast of tank-shots, rockets, grenades and shotguns blasts (check Battlefield BC2 for this (In fact, just check ths story trailers for this)) Moreover, in maps in which having a base is important (for example the "Blood Gulch series") the bases can't be destroyable, it makes no sense. Some people've been talking about armor effects. My first response would be to include that in the classic Halo group of playlies if fans of this type want it. I wrote this some weeks ago: Since we're talking about Forge, we should enumerate some mistakes: -Bungie acknowledged that a way of making an object disappear after a certain period of time or phase was a good idea, but did not included it in the game. -Bungie said that they never had wanted to create an undo and redo option in the game. For the obvious reasons, this is wrong. -As sme said earlier, a forge option for pc would be nice, this program could be free, as only halo-4-buyers will want to download it. -When on forge, when you pick your screenshot and/or lights and etc, an object stays in the place in which you took your screenshot/ placed the light, (such objects are cameras and light orbs), these objects are "hard"; meaning, you can't pass through them or shoot trough them while on forge (they disappear in the game), and might create some difficulties when building around on Forge. This matter doesn't seem to me to be any difficult to solve.
  18. that's it, somethings which are in past post are important too, (add them to the top) About vehicles, people have been asking for: scarab, sabre, seraph, short/longsword, and some vehicles from Halo Wars. Moreover, I think we should be able to use each vehicle to the fullest; meaning, How came the falcon can't transport passengers? it should transport them and they should be able to fire their own weapons, no matter how difficult it can be. Moreover, we should be able to use the pelican and phantom with all their capabilities, meaning, people could sit in the pelican to gain space to place two mongooses in the middle. furthermore, the pilot or co-pilot should be able to use the grapple to grab warthoughs or tanks to the back part or the pelican, as well as the phantom. people've been asking to make firefight forgable and thus the ability to place AI's. the ability to "glue objects" as RussianPenguin said is good and has already been mentioned as well. just imagine sme has to move piece by piece of his giant base or racetrack, just because it the end he found that it would look bad in that place or didn't fit or smth like that. I think tere were more things but can't remember them now, will add if I remember,

  20. Although it pains me, I have to say that I agree with you. I can't say for sure that 343i will do a good job but I think we can be assured that they will give their best to try to satisfy the very demanding community. Meaning: No matter what type of game they choose to create (similar to H3, to HR, or smth totally different), people should be able to judge it as a good or bad game, even if it doesn't come to terms with what he/she wanted H4 to be. (I will say that it is a good or bad game even if they create the type of game that I didn't prefer). Second: 2.1: I said that the shotgun was an exception to the rule. 2.2: About the other things, I must say that I didn't underststand every thing very well, and will explain why. (This is a nerd :ugeek: part, skip it if you want) (Attention: I don't live in an English country, so I didn't learn the following terms and concepts in English. I will translate them (obviously) but some things my have a different name in English) Talking about the "force" of the bullet: I believe you meant the Intensity (like (Abs (F)), F with an arrow on top) given by the force aplied in the bullet when it was shot It is calculated through the following equation: Wf=Fd(cos(a)) (air resistence is negligible) Wf being in Jouls, being Wf=Variation of the cinectic Energy or V(Ec) ( V(Ec)=.5m((square of the final speed)-(square of initial speed))......(Initial speed is 0, final speed is when shot) Or we can calculate the energy through E=mc^2 (Eisntein's theory) We can't use Newton's 2nd law, (F=ma), (even when we're studing a rectilinear uniform movement) because it is almost impossible to calculate a=accelaration=(variation of speed)/(variation of time) being Vtime the almost impossible part to calculate Meaning here: Yes, the accelaration (altough I used speed) given to the bullet when shot affects the Intensity of it. Though, between the barrel and the target, two forces come into play: Fg= gravity Fa= air resistance Fa= can be considered negligible because the bullet is a small, aerodinamic, compact object. Fg=mg (being m the mass, and g the gravitic accearation= 9.8 ms^(-2) If you fire in an horizontal line, the gravity only affects the trajectory, but, (as you can never fire in a perfect horizontal line, and, even if you fire, I doubt the bullet has enough speed (not sure) to work like a satelite (only the direction of the movement changes), mean: the bullet will start pointing lower too soon, reducing the angle between the gravictic force and the direction of the bullet from 90? to less, therefore, has the gravity doesn't create a perfect 90? angle with the bullet's direction, it will, not only change its direction, but also its speed (accelarating it, actualy). BUT, and here's the but. as, Wf=Fgd(cos(a)), a being the angle; as the angle will allways be close to 90, only if you're firing to an higher or lower position) the cos(a) will be very small, (pluss the mas is very small as well) thus making Wf very small, (ok, I can't be sure of this because I don't have the values. Though, even if it changes anything to the bullet's direction; it will be very little) Even if you're firing to an higher or lower position, check this, x=x0+vt+.5at^2 If anyone has values to put in here, you'll check that, (even only with distances and bullet velocity), the time, t,will be very small, (this is accualy visible), and the accelaration will be very small as well. Mean: (I don't have the exact values, but this was done sensibly) for small maps (I'd say every indoors Halo map) The gravity changes very little to the bullet's direction, a negligible thing. In bigger maps, though, it could change a little, never too much though, (It would be nice, in long distances, to need to fire the sniper rifle's bullet a little upwards and in advance of our taget's movement) About the trajectory or target's movement in the impact's moment Again, nothing changes if it is moving in a perpendicular direction than the bullet's direction, (it would only matter where the target would fall, dead) but any other direction could change a little the bullet's impact (aka Itensity of crash). Though, and here's the though, the bullet's velocity greatness (don't know if greatness is the best word, if it isn't, think value) comparing to a human's (or a spartan's, elite's, brute's, whathever) velocity is so different that we can say that the target's velocity is negligible. Mean: Target's movement doesn't change a thing in the moment of the impact) Shotgun, as said before, is an exception because of the type of ammunition is takes (It is not a normal bullet) So, I believe that what I said is either all wrong or all right.
